We came on a Tuesday night for dinner, after checking into legoland. We had the whole dinner to ourselves. Myself and one other adult are gluten free. I had the gluten free linguine ala vodka with grilled shrimps-so good! As was the Pina colada! The kids liked their cheeseburgers and chicken tenders and the other gluten free adult had a brothers burger (burger with mushrooms on top) and said it was really good. We lost power on July 4th and it was so hot in the house that we decided to give it a chance of going out for dinner. The diner was open but completely empty. We got seated at the table and we were chatting with the waitress, placed out food order. Food arrived fast and it was delicious: we really enjoyed it, listening to the thunderstorm going by. Other guests started to come in and the waitress told us we were their lucky charms!! Stopped in for breakfast early this Thursday morning and couldn't have been happier. A well established local diner that is spotless clean , extensive menu and warm, fast, friendly, efficient service. I had the two egg breakfast special with included choice of meats, home fries,Toast and a great cup of diner Joe. My server Heidi, was so attentive and caring and engaging. A few years ago this place was amazing. Sometime after Covid it was sold and became the Nee Chester Diner and it's been absolutely horrible ever since. Service is lacking. I am a disabled with a service dog. He is a wonderful dog and clearly wears a jacket showing he is an "Active Medical Service Dog". He is extremely well trained. When we came in and sat down the waitress asked for our dog's ID. We correctly told her that the ADA and New York State Law specifically says that no ID is required. She walked away and would not serve us. Then the manager came over and again asked for the ID. I tried to hand her the law but she refused to take it or even read it. So, we called the Chester Police to help. They came and were excellent. They said they told the manager that they need to become familiar with the laws. We will be reporting this to the ADA and hopefully, action will be taken against them for their illegal actions. We did finally eat. The food was mediocre at best. Then upon leaving we offered the manager the law again and again she refused to accept it. I asked her if she will now follow the law and she said she will do what the owner says. Well the owner does not make the laws. It is pretty clear, that they probably will continue to ignore the law and be hostile to disabled customers with service dogs. When businesses restrict serving the disabled because they have a service dog, it is degrading to the disabled and show no respect to their customers or to the word of law. I hope that everyone even if not disabled will take their unlawful conduct into consideration and go to other places to eat that have respect and consideration for the disabled and actually follow the laws. read more

Driving back to NYC from the Bethel Woods museum (Woodstock) and stopped in Chester for a quick bite. We all had some kind of cheeseburger with various additions, etc.. The place was nothing special even though it's called New, but it was clean and service was quick. Typical diner cheeseburger with very fresh brioche rolls. My son and I eat out together once every other week. We went to this diner because we thought the old owners still owned the establishment however we soon realized after entering they did not. It was an old atmosphere and the service was "okay". We ordered a chicken wrap which was awful. The bacon tasted "old" from the morning, there were 10 French Fries on the plate ( I counted them) and there were barely any chicken in the wrap: I felt awful for my son. I ordered a mexican type of salad which had greek olives in it. I cook often and would I never put greek olives in a Mexican salad. The veggies were greasy and tasted strange. I wouldn't recommend this diner. Goshen diner or Monroe diner is certainly overall a better experience. read more

FINALLY I found a new diamond in the ruff that serves authentic Spanish Food in Chester. The new chester diner is under new management and I must say the food is phenomenal. I've only tackled two dishes in the Spanish menu OMG which I love and the breakfast are amazing and the servings are huge.true flavor town. New owners = New & Improved! This diner was always garbage but new ownership in 2024 has righted the ship. The food, for the first time, is GOOD. Service is good. Diner is clean, too. I am very pleased that this diner has re-opened, and with better food than its predecessor. My go to here is a cheddar omelette with well done home fries. Both are delicious. The home fries crispy on the outside with some chopped peppers mixed in. And the omelette -- it's really the exception among diners to not get an omelette that is not overcooked and brown on the outside, but, rather, with softly melted cheese inside enveloped by fluffy eggs all around. Delicious and satisfying. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. I have also had the tuna salad sandwich: while it's not the most interesting or tasty tuna salad, it is fresh, and tasty enough with the addition of raw onions and pepper on top. From the moment we walked in to the second we left I've never enjoyed being at a diner (except for my childhood diner) so much! I ordered a salad with strawberries, pecans, strawberry vinaigrette, mixed greens and onions and feta cheese! (Unsure of the menu name) but wow ! This salad was full of flavor, very fresh and I could eat this everyday. I do have a sensitive stomach and this food sat beautifully with me! I also had a matzo ball soup & it was temperature ready when it came out, not too hot or cold. After eating at the old place previously this new ownership definitely did some TLC and took it up a notch & did a phenomenal job. If I could recommend a diner it would be this one. Everyone knows what Caeser dressing taste like, and it was definately italian hands down. No matter how many times we complained they refused to make it right. Trying to deliberately lie to say italian dress was caeaser. I decided to give this diner a try since it was under new management. I visited on a Saturday at about 1pm. It says it was newly renovated and it looks the same as before. We were seated in about 2 minutes. The server was not the best. She was very plain and dismissive. She was walking around talking on the phone when I was trying to get her attention. The food was good not amazing. I ordered the hungry man special. The scrambled eggs were 5/10 but the bacon, french toast were very good. I also ordered a chocolate milkshake which was 8/10. Although after I finished my milkshake, she didn't really offer a water usually they offer a refill or a different beverage. Now, what really baffled me was that while I was eating my meal, the lights started flickering and went out for about 2 seconds. There was also a man working on the ceiling and dust was flying everywhere. I say the food was a solid 7/10. The service was also 7/10. I'd maybe try again but definitely not as good as the Goshen Diner. read more

The food was okay I guess. It was generic and tasteless. I ordered the empanada and it was frozen food thrown into the oven. The "rancharo"panini was almost inedible.
