Overall I thought it was a nice restaurant. As others have said it might be a little bit overpriced, but everything in the York downtown area is the same. I was very happy with my burrito. It was a nice change from a normal make your own burrito walk in restaurant and was toasted which made it a nice change. Heard the burrito bowls and the nachos are also very good. It is a great place to come for drinks. They had many choices. With a nice indoor and outdoor seating areas it is a great place for small or large groups. The staff was pretty good. First we tried ordering 3 different drinks and they didn't have the ingredients. We ordered chicken fajitas and for $16.99 came with 4 paltry pieces of chicken and the 5 pepper slices were thin and tiny. And the rice on the side was barely warm and dried out. I really am surprised by the amount of bad reviews here! My boyfriend and I visited York last July for 4 days and we had dinner twice here. We both love Mexican food and it seemed like a cool place, especially for me since I don't eat seafood, which can be tough in a coastal town! The portions were giant, seriously they were huge. We ordered Nachos as an app and probably took 75% home. I got chicken fajitas which were great. We each had 2 alcoholic drinks, and the bill was $55 which I thought was more than fair for how much food we got and the fact that the restaurant is located right in the heart of the action. I highly recommend this place. The ocean is across the street, there's a great vibe on the street if you're dining outside, and plenty of parking across the street as well. read more

The food is way overpriced for what you get ($1 extra for tortilla chips b/c you only get 4 1/2 chips with your burrito with a side of water with tomatoes and cilantro called salsa). It's so sad that I'm even writing this, but I'm doing so in hopes the manager/owners see this and decide to take some things away from it. Upon entering the restaurant the hostess is plain rude and not welcoming whatsoever.. the two margaritas we got were the worst I've ever tasted- tasted like toilet water which is so unfortunate, you can tell they use $2 bottom shelf tequila- at least have a decent house sour mix to make up for the shit tequila you're gonna use.. Then we order guac and chips this place is called "guac and roll" so you think the guac would be amazing.. but it was mashed avocado and onions slapped in a plastic cup- no salt, no cilantro and no lime NO FLAVOR. Presentation of food looks better at McDonald's .... Chips were the only decent thing there probably because they don't make them. I ordered a taco salad, which was served to me with CHUNKS of burnt rice that were crunchy and hard, couldn't even eat it, topped with a giant serving of refried beans and lettuce, the most unflavored taco salad I have EVER tasted and the rice that was served to me was UNACCEPTABLE I can't even believe the chef literally looked over the CHUNKS of dark brown burnt WHITE rice, I couldn't even believe what I saw. The burrito was some concoction of creamed chicken and rice, again no flavor and not even edible, the whole thing was white inside, and again, talk about absolutely horrific presentation. Everything here has absolutely no flavor. Im totally a tex mex girl and I've had some lack luster Mexican food that was still good, but this shit we got served wasn't even edible, not to mention the prices they try charging. this was just simply an insult to every other Mexican joint or there. Get a chef who is passionate about cooking and actually flavors their food and cares enough not to send out chunky 4 day old rice and guacamole from the freezer.. plate your stuff with love, don't slap it on the plates just to get it out fast.. manager was so weirdly calm like he's heard these complaints many times before and I will say he took care of our bill without any issues. It's sad because it's a prime location that could really be a gem and stand out as a hopping tex mex joint but unfortunately this place completely sucks and needs new staff and a chef that can actually cook and plate food. Food quality and liquor quality needs to be more than shit you found in a dumpster. I'm hoping this place makes a turnaround and takes all these reviews into consideration cause it could be a real sweet Mexican spot if everything changes- if no changes are made hopefully someone will just replace it with Chipotle :) read more

Our server was great! She was very pleasant and attentive...getting us water's before needing to ask, bringing extra salsa (which is pretty mild but plenty of hot sauce on the table to spice it up). The margarita list is vast. I ordered a Mango Margarita on the rocks which was a bit pricey for $9 but very yummy and had a strong mango flavor. I would go back to try the other ones on the list. For my main dish I got the Fish Deeelish Burrito and boy was it delicious. The burritos are packed with flavor. I would come back for that dish. We stopped by on Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. We should have know to keep moving when it appeared it was the only spot not packed. We got to sit outside, which was nice, but right next to us was a full bus bucket with dirty smelly dishes. We ordered buffalo wings and a taco salad. How someone could mess up those two dishes so badly is beyond me. The taco salad was just lettuce, unseasoned rice, and refried beans straight from the can. The buffalo wings were fatty and poorly dressed for which we paid $9 for 8 wings. So overpriced, honestly it should have been free it was so bad. It was obvious that they were understaffed but the hostess always had time to check her phone. We tipped our waiter accordingly because he was hustling, can't blame him for the "chef's" mistake. Very disappointed!! Stopped here with the family after driving several hours to York. We were starving and thought this place would be family friendly. It was NOT! Kids menu was a joke and they were not willing to make any adjustments. We weren't asking for anything out of the ordinary and waitress not friendly or accommodating. Adding any meat to the kids choices would have made them more expensive than the regular menu items which were already extremely over priced! I love this place! I bought some discounted gift certificates last winter. This was the first winter they were open year round. Although it wasn't crowded, it was a great atmosphere. We ordered the beef burritos, which were HUGE! We ended up taking home most of it because they were so filling. They had a special $5 margarita deal and these were very big glasses, not chintzy at all. The bartender and waitress were friendly and engaging and made us want to return - we did! Several times, in fact, over the winter. They had dinner and drinks specials every day they were open. Our favorite was the fajitas for 2 for just $19.99 - this included an appetizer plus the fajitas - again, we ended up bringing some home because there was so much! It was delicious! Now that summer and the tourists are in town, it's alway packed, so we haven't gone back. But as soon as Labor Day comes, we'll be back, for sure. read more

My teen would give this restaurant a higher rating, she made sure we planned on returning this year as we have the past two years. There is a significant premium paid for the close proximity to the beach. I enjoyed everything I ate and have not noticed any changes over the three years we have been eating here. This new place is great. While visitng for a weekend we stopped in twice. Decor is great; bright and cute and a little quirky. Food was good and consistent while prices are pretty decent. Wish I read reviews first. If you like that cheese in the pumps at gas stations, then you'll by Happy. Food was pretty bad. Nachos looked awesome when they went by so I ordered. They looked great but I was puzzled by the pile of what looked like cheese whiz in the corner. Then I realized there was a tiny bit of real cheese on the top and underneath it was covered with this liquid cheese. Not only did it taste terrible it made the chips all soggy. I asked why and they said that's what people want! ... Ordered MEXICAN CORN. I sent it back. It was a bowl of boiled corn with mayonnaise on top and some sprinkled chili powder. I'm not kidding--i asked and they said that's what it was!! My friend didn't eat hers either .... My friends walked around after but I had to go back to my room to use the bathroom! Then I realized two other people came back for the same reason! .... Lastly, drinks were tasty, but no alcohol. They poured out of their own bottle. I was on the beach all day and was starving when I got there and didn't even get a buzz. Cute venue, but don't waste your time. Took my three teenagers to Guac-n-Roll after a hot day on the beach. Even though it was 6:45p on a busy summer Friday night, we were seated right away, unlike the party of five just before us who were told it was a 20-minute wait. Our friendly waitress came over to take our drink order relatively quickly. My kids gave her their order, and I was still deciding what I wanted and told her to bring their drinks while I decided, and she said, "I can bring you some water while you're making your choice," which I thought was very professional and thoughtful. When she returned with the kids' drinks, I asked the waitress if the sangria was good, and she said she preferred the peachy-tasting white a little more than the fruit punchy-tasting red, but I chose the red because I like sweeter drinks. She brought my red sangria ($8) quickly, but I found that it tasted like just a glass of red wine (a lime, lemon and cherry topped the wine glass) and, as I told the waitress, was not "fruity" enough for me . We started off with ordering chips, salsa and guac ($11, expensive when chips and salsa in most Mexican restaurants I frequent are complementary). They were tasty enough albeit not a huge serving considering the price. Three out of four of us ordered a Sombrero salad (mixed greens, smoky black beans, red rice, roasted corn, tomato, and queso blanco with honey lime dressing. served in a tortilla bowl, $10.50 each). One of my sons wanted a BLT sandwich and not a BLT salad as described on the menu, but our resourceful waitress said they could do a BLT in a wrap for him, which he agreed. When our dinners came in a timely fashion, my son's BLT wrap with a side of fries ($9) looked good, and he said he enjoyed it. The three Sombrero salad eaters were at first impressed by the size of the large tortilla bowl shell. The fancy mixed greens (frisee, arugula, and who knows what else) were on top with the corn, tomato and cheese just underneath. After eating some of the greens off the top, the rice and beans were surprisingly warm. While I didn't mind the fanciness of the greens, my two other teens didn't particularly care for them, but my daughter said it also could have been that she didn't care for the dressing. They both enjoyed the shell ("the best part of the whole salad"), but really didn't touch much of the salad in general, even though they usually love salad. There was a good amount of rice and beans at the bottom of my salad, but I filled up on tortilla chips earlier to eat too much rice and beans. In the meantime, I gave up working on my sangria and opted for a frozen "Pom-Pom-Pow" Margarita ($12), a pomegranate martini with a sugar rim. This drink hit the spot, because of the heat of the day and that it was cold and refreshing. The restaurant's decor and ambiance are appropriately modern Mexican, colorful and casual. There is a bar on one side with a TV or two for sports viewing. While half of us were not thrilled with our meals, the other half was satisfied. The bill came to $86.74, which was a bit steep for one appetizer (which should be free in the first place), four dinners, three limitless sodas (which the waitress kept refilling without even asking) and two cocktails. We left the efficient waitress a nice tip, so it came to just over $100 for a dinner for four. Not outrageous, but not a deal for what we got either. I will probably return to Guac-n-Roll the next time I'm in York, but I'll go with adults and send the kids to the pizza shop around the corner. read more

There are so many negative things I can write about my experience tonight at Guac-N-Roll, but for the sake of time (since I wasted so much of my time there already) I will be concise: it's awful. The food was sub-par. The wings were good, a bit over priced but that's to be expected for the location. But the $14 nachos, $16+ quesadilla, and $10 chips & salsa were overpriced garbage. Go to the Hannaford down the street and make your own for a fraction of the price. We also waited a solid 40+ minutes for an order of nachos, and yet the cheese remained unmelted. We were then charged extra for an entree so blatantly that it was almost funny. When we brought this to our servers attention, he was so rude about it, that I'm still unsure of how to react. He actually asked us if we wanted him to remove the extra charge or not... Who trains these people? The service was also ridiculously bad. The hostess outside had no idea what she was doing. We asked for a wait time and she literally looked at us, turned towards the interior of the restaurant, said "ten minutes" and then walked away. Did not even ask for our name or anything. Also, the servers need to be better prepared to deal with........wait for it!......split checks. Apparently that is an idea that is foreign to them, as we had to explain multiple times we wanted two checks instead of one. Very complicated stuff, I know. Maybe a new training video should be underway! Also, besides being overcharged, the server (a young man) kept calling everyone "honey" at our table. We went for lunch. The food was good but not great. I ordered shrimp fajitas, expecting some nice grilled shrimp. Nope. The veggies were grilled but the shrimp were plain cooked shrimp, with no color or seasoning of any kind. They might have been boiled, who knows. My mother-in-law's steak fajita was much better than mine. The kids ordered Tacos. My daughter loved the chicken taco and ordered another. My son ate the steak taco but didn't really enjoy it. So when we first walked by this place, we turned our noses up. Being from California, we figured there was no way there could be anything edible described as "Mexican" on this side of the country. But after a few days of lobster this, steamas that, I actually had to Yelp search "salad" to add some vegetables and such to my system. Strangely, this place was on the list. "Mexican"? Not sure I could say that. Not even tex-mex, though the husband liked his healthier-than-home chicken burrito. But good? Oh yes. As mentioned above, I'm no vegetarian, but I think cheffie has more than a passing acquaintance with vegetarian cuisine. I ordered the COOOOOOOLLLLLL salad with all sorts of saladey things, including corn which I usually avoid. You could also add meats for extra, and one of the meat options was "grilled vegetables." Yay. MUCH better than expected. It was a bowl of health. The corn was sliced off the cob, so it was almost the best part. The dressing was light and nice. The grilled veg included sweet potatoes and squash-like things. There was avocado. My body is thanking cheffie today. Margaritas were average, but average is just fine with us. My wife and I eat here a few times every summer. It is a great place to sit out on the sidewalk, enjoy a nice drink, and watch people and cars go by. The food here is very good. Not sure why all of the tough reviews here. Just had a really good lunch this afternoon and it seems to be deserving of a much higher average mark. We had a table for 11, with ages ranging from 8 to 50 and everyone ordering something different. I had two different tacos (fish and bean) and both were tasty and well made. The place was clean with the expected Mexican/decor. The service was really outstanding as the waitress was attentive and pleasant while dealing with lots of questions from the table.
