Came here on the last day of the season because everything was 50% off. It was a great experience. All the food was delicious, as were the drinks. We even ordered some drinks to go and cake! The food was also super delicious, but I do wish my tuna bowl had a bit more flavor. I got bored with it after a bit. However, everything else was amazing. Keep in mind that the entire restaurant is basically outside so it can get chilly depending on the night. They do have heaters though! Staff was amazing as well! Last stop on our tour de Maine. We stayed in Ogunquit our last night and after hitting the beach, we grabbed late night eats on the patio at Hooks. It was a busy Sunday night, the restaurant was pretty full, but we were seated right away. We had a hard time deciding, but didn't want anything too heavy. I opted for tacos. Our server said 2 was the sweet spot, so that's what I ordered. One fish and one shrimp. She gave us a pro-tip, order the guacamole side, as it was a very generous portion (and she convinced hubs to get the side of chips with his meal - well played). My tacos were underwhelming. I ordered them street taco style, and they were minimal at best. My BFF ordered the beef & shrimp, and I missed out on the picked onions & other fillings. Hubs ordered a salad bowl, and the portion was generous, very filling, he only ate half. The side of chips helped us devour our sides of guacamole. The guac was good, but could have used more kick and a bit of salt (which was not on the table, and we didn't bother asking for). We enjoyed our meal and the laid-back casual atmosphere. We'd visit again if ever in the area, and we do hope to come back, as we fell in love with Ogunquit. read more

Recently was in the Maine coastal area and ate at Hook's Chill & Grille which is very much up my alley... FRESH food and ingredients, very outdoors laid back Caribbean vibe. I was happy with the menu selections and grabbed myself a salmon bowl, while the person I was with grabbed a shrimp bowl! Very delicious and super fresh quality!! This is another place you might not stop if you didn't know it was there. It blends into the attached surf shop to its front so it's a hidden gem for sure!! They close this weekend for the season, so try them out if you're around until the 14th!! The coast and lakes region is closing... it's October!!! Lovely indoor-outdoor bar and grill, tons of seating in open air, covered patio area. Beautiful set up for lunch in a chill environment. Bar staff was extremely friendly, fun, and knowledgeable about the menu. Ask for Marcie, she's the best! Menu is a lovely selection of local fare and cooked to perfection. I ordered the Ahi tuna, pineapple salsa and guacamole. Tuna was beautifully blackened, lovely medium rare inside and packed with spice! The pineapple salsa was fresh, crispy, with bright flavors. Biggest heads up, servings are massive! I went with a buddy. We got a nacho appetizer. That would have filled both of us. Then we each got a meal, which both would have filled both of us. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Hooks! I've been here quite a few times with family. This is predominately an outdoor venue with the bar giving it a ceiling and half indoor. Hmm did I explain that correctly... I guess you just have to check it out. Some of the tables will accommodate larger group maybe 6 and then some smaller too. Certain days of week they have music too. DH and I ordered Build your own Trio $16 appetizer which is nacho chips and a choice of 3 cups of dips. We got roasted corn, salsa and guacamole. It was so good. Then I had Quesadilla with chicken, peppers, onions & cheese and it was grilled which made it very Yummy. $15 DH had Mojo Pork Sandwich pulled pork topped with slaw and pickled onion. I ate at this restaurant on 14SEP2024 at approximately 12:00 noon. The restaurant looked interesting. It's more of outside dining on a rustic porch which can be enclosed during inclement weather. I ordered 2 soft shell ground beef tacos with ginger slaw and my friend ordered a ground beef burrito with rice and other fixings. The food was presentable, HOWEVER the ground beef lacked basic spice. I mean one of those packets of Ortega dry taco seasoning for ground beef from a supermarket would have made an immense improvement. If they did add any sort of seasoning to the ground beef it was negligible to my palate. The ginger slaw, where's the ginger! I couldn't taste a hint of ginger in the slaw. That was a major disappointment as I was anticipating a version of slaw I've never tasted. Would I frequent this restaurant again? Only if I could bring my own Ortega taco seasoning packet. This establishment is more of a boozer crowd sitting at the bar. Very few patrons sitting at the tables enjoying a lackluster meal. Major Disappointment! read more

We had a really good meal - excellent service, fun atmosphere, and great food. My wife had the tuna poke bowl, which she loved. The tuna was sliced extremely thin, and all the elements really worked together - a sample confirmed! My daughter had the salmon Cesar salad. I don't like cooked salmon (I WISH I did) but it looked delicious. I had the shrimp burrito bowl with pineapple salsa and ginger slaw. Really outstanding - well seasoned, and the sweetness of the pineapple played nicely with the slight bite of the slaw. Overall, well done - we would go again! read more

No problem at all, grabbed a beer at the bar (super friendly bartenders!) and waited no more then 20 minutes for a table. The nachos were packed with flavor, not soggy, and there was plenty to go around. And while the seafood taco was a little runny, that didn't mean the flavor wasn't delicious! The street corn dip? We absolutely love this place - first went about 10 years ago when we spent a week in Maine that Summer and it never, ever disappoints. We visit every chance we get. The staff are lovely, warm, efficient and wonderful with kids (when we first dined here, our son was not yet 3 and everyone was so good with him). The food is delicious - oh my gosh, the nachos. The four of us arrived at 12:30pm for a light lunch and drinks. The waitress was prompt at taking our order however after almost 2 hours, we finally were served our lunch. We spoke with Mat, the manager on duty about the service and he blamed the waitress which happened to be her 2nd day on the floor. Mat did agree to comp our Nachos but honestly we feel he could have comped the entire meal which totaled $125 after deducting the nachos. We found the management to be poor, our waitress was doing the best she could and was at the mercy of the slow kitchen Update to the managers response (give you a hint, you are closed for the season).
