This was our favorite breakfast restaurant during our trip. Food five stars selection, five stars service five stars. We didn't get it, but people exiting the restaurant raved about the food and they were right. I got the Parisian crêpe and that was the most flavorful breakfast. I've had in a while. Cooked perfectly and beautiful layers of food. When you cut into it and turn it on its side, you can see how delicately they layered everything. My wife got the Spanish tortilla. We've had this in Barcelona before and it was very close and taste. A little dance for me, but she enjoyed it. Both of these dishes are really shareable. The coffee was OK but my wife's latte she said was excellent. Lastly, plenty of parking and they also have a small area with baked goods. Don't miss this place. read more

Great breakfast at Gutiz! Let me start by saying that they have GREAT coffee! And they give U a 'Big Ole' mug of it and free refills. We heard great things about their French Toast - and it looked Delicious! (Saw it on another table). But none of us were in the mood for a 'sweet breakfast'. So we ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Parisien Crepe (see pics). Both were Amazing! They also had some really good looking homemade french pastries on display, but we were too full to sample those. I I found this place on google looking for a dog friendly spot to have breakfast in Taos, where I was going to spend the day walking around. The service was so good. My visiting uncle had the breakfast stack and said if he lived in Taos he would eat at Gutiz every morning. Their food really is delicious! We moved to Taos a year ago, but only recently discovered this gem of a restaurant. I have been there 5 times recently, 4 times with my wife, once by myself, & I have never been disappointed!! I have had the Brie Omelette, French Toast, Eggs Benedict, Spanish Tortilla, and today the Parisian Crepe! For me it is a 3 way tie...the Crepe, Eggs Benedict & French Toast blew me away...the Brie Omelette was great and while the Spanish Tortilla was good (in my opinion) my wife has gotten it twice!! She has also had The Creole bowl which she loved & today she had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, while the sandwich was a bit unwieldy, she said it was delicious & she especially loved the hummus! I am not sure what is better, the food or the service.....(OK as wonderful & friendly as the servers are the food is what keeps me coming back!!) The staff at Gutiz today was super friendly and attentive. The food was great - a fusion of Latin and French cuisine with fresh ingredients and excellent flavors. The dining area is comfortable and suits the food. I had a cup of their excellent coffee (black) and ordered the Green Chile Sausage Bowl. My partner had the Spanish Tortilla which was listed on the menu as a "local favorite." Both entrees were delicious. The chiles and Andouille sausage provided heat and flavor to my dish. There was a lot of sausage along with cheese, white beans, red beans, chickpeas, and a sauce base that complemented but did not overwhelm the other ingredients. I tried a few bites of the Spanish Tortilla which was very tasty; I particularly liked the tapenade that added a zesty note to the eggs and veggies. Had the 1/2 French Toast with the 1/2 Eggs Benedict . It was perfection! The toast had a crème brûlée-esque...crisp to it ...yum!! The Hollandaise sauce is absolutely the best I've tasted in Taos over a perfectly poached egg! I'm coming back for sure! read more

Omg. The food was incredible. I don't like mushrooms all that much and yet I loved the Spanish omelette which was more like a quiche (it's also the local favorite on the menu). I never thought I'd say a goat cheese quesadilla was one or the best things I ate in Tao...but their goat cheese quesadilla was one of the best things I ate in Taos! This spot is likely known for their DDD stamp (yep, that's another DDD restaurant in the books), and arguably the Latin French fusion concepts sounds as if it could go wrong at any second, but their flowers are well deserved! Everything we tried was delicious. Every staff member we encountered was lovely. I will say, our potatoes were not reheated correctly, but the flavors were on point. I blame the fact that we arrive near close, I wouldn't exactly expect them fresh so close to closing hour. When I'm back the area, I'll have to remember to visit their lovely pastry case! Delicious breakfast. Visiting the Taos area, after 2 days of coffee and pastries for breakfast, desired a full breakfast and landed at Gutiz for two days because first experience was so positive. Tried the basic breakfast with bacon the first day, it came with a small salad and 2nd day tried eggs Benedict and French toast, both of which were delicious and set us well for the trip home. Establishment is bright and well suited for breakfast, servers were pleasant and attentive. If a lighter breakfast is desired, pastries are also baked on site and available. read more

Amazing! We saw this come up on Yelp under foodie restaurants so had to try it. The recommended vegetarian dish was the vegetable tartine and holy smokes, it was 10/10! Absolutely delightful. We head to Taos every October for a bridge tournament. The wonderful thing about Taos that some may not know, is that the food in Taos is AMAZING... and Guitz hits it out of the park. Of all the years we have been coming to Taos we had never been to Guitz. We were looking for a quick little spot for breakfast and happened upon them. This cozy little place scream scratch made food with love. We were greeted by a friendly waitstaff that hooked us up with a steamy cup of joe, really great cup of coffee it was. We decide to share the Eggs Benedict. A generous bowl (yes, I said bowl) of poached eggs and Canadian bacon and an English muffin served on a bed of Gutiz potatoes topped with homemade Hollandaise sauce. Heck we even upgraded and added the spinach and tomato. Sorry, I had to wipe the drool from my chin just writing about it. Although our wait time to be seated was SUBSTANTIALLY longer than I would typically ever endure anywhere else, the cuisine (not food lol) at Gutiz makes everything worth while. It's not often you find a restaurant with authentic frenchy-slash spanish recipes that literally blow your mind. Gutiz is that special treat and deserves your patience when waiting for a table. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Once seated, our coffee and Mexican Hot Chocolate came out fairly quickly (compared to our wait to be seated). The coffee is nothing extraordinary, just good. But the Mexican hot chocolate is worth a try if you're in the mood. And yes, order the whip cream! We both ordered the Croque Madame (waitress nicknamed it "The Missus"). We were pleased when it only took 15 minutes to arrive at the table, hot and beautifully plated with a side of fresh greens. What can I say other than, WOW. Homemade bread, fresh garlicky béchamel, cheesy-crusted ham-laden goodness topped with a perfectly-poached egg.... Gutiz is fine. Like everywhere in Taos, Gutiz is definitely understaffed. While it seems like the staff were really trying, there simply were not enough people for decent service. I ordered a cinnamon bun which was warmed in the microwave for way too long and got that hard microwave texture. I ordered coffee several times but it never came out. I finally got it when I was leaving in a to go cup! My Yougurt parfait was tasty but nothing special. I waited over 30 minutes to get the check after requesting it. read more
