Second time I've been here now. The 1st time i forgot to post. Sorry folks. Had the carne asada plate the first time and it was good. Nice char on the meat and good flavor. I would get that again. The steak mexicana was okay. The ranchero sauce was very thin, not thick like i am used to having. The asada was juicy in the ranchero sauce but I would pass on this dish, unless you like the sauce watery. Today, second time, I went with chili verde. The chili verde was good and tasty and it tasted and looked like I expected it to be. Delicious plate. Order that again! The staff has been friendly both times. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Both times I noticed when we ordered our food, it does take a noticeably long time to arrive. Not like an hour, but maybe 30 minutes. So u might end up chowing down lot of chips and salsa if you come hungry. The chips were served a little warm both times. The salsa has a good flavor to it. The salsa is kind of thin and not spicy, but i thought it was tasty. The menu is large with many choices. I look forward to coming back and trying some other items. read more

This place seems like a standard Mexican restaurant, but the food that we had tasted more "mid-Western" than Mexican. It was fine, but did not taste like normal Mexican food. We had the Ultimate Steak Fajita Burrito and my wife got the veggie Enchilada. The burrito tasted like there were some potatoes in it and had a brown gravy added. Hence the mid-Western perspective. The service was great. No issues with the overall experience. Maybe this is what people want in South Dakota. We are from the Southeast. read more

Took my Grandson to the bathroom....broken and nasty tolit seat, the whole bathroom gross! Sorry, I hate leaving bad reveiws but it's a treat to eat out at a resterant and I was sad we wasted our money and wanted to warn others. The decorations to this place are really cool and different. The touches do make you feel welcome and such. The service is quiet but they sit you down and make sure you have everything you need. I wanted to try the taco salad with chicken. Simple meal. Chicken was watered down and they use very little cheese. Loads of iceberg lettuce. The taco shell was fried in some it tasty flavors. I would not recommend. Wife has the Chile verde with pork. The pork was very dry and chewy. The rice was a good flavor and airy. The food was just ok. I may try this again but not sure. read more

They have a wide selection of American style Mexican food. The chicken is very bland and dry. There is absolutely zero flavor to it. Rice and beans are good. read more

This was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. No flavor in the chicken whatsoever. I wanted to switch to a different dish Chicken Enchiladas, the waitress said it's the same chicken. They don't put seasonings in the chicken. WHAT?!? Ugh. Horrible. Service wasn't great either. My friend got the chicken salad, tasted like water, even with the salsa added to give it flavor. The waitress said "cheese gives it flavor" WHAT?!? So refund me my money and I'll go to Taco Bell....that's a little better than here. read more

Super disappointed tonight. We have been loyal multiple location Guad customers for more than 20 years. We waited 20 min. to be seated in Sioux Falls with many open booths, then another 15 min after we were seated with only menus. Had to order quest twice before we got it. Then ordered seafood enchilada and beef chimi and enchilada. No meat in either and the seafood had a foul smelll. We waited politely... starving and finally started eating; no server; ate more and still no server. Finally went to find someone and she blamed us for waiting too long, telling me it's fish and it sells and then scolding us for eating some of the food. DONE! Most horrible service ever at a Mexican restaurant. We are not that picky - good luck treating your customers like this and blaming us when you're busy! read more

We love this hidden gem. Arroz con Pollo- both my husband and I love this location's arroz con pollo. This colorful dish isn't just chicken and rice...tomatoes, green onions, mushrooms, and black olives make it special. Choose from flour or corn tortillas. Perfect for big appetites or if you enjoy leftovers. Queso- the white queso is a family favorite as an appetizer. There are free chips and salsa as well. I had the lunch combo with one enchilada, one chill relleno - which is an omelette with chilli inside , one taco and one bean tostada. (I did the de la olla beans - which is nothing but BOILED beans), that was good too. The service was pretty good and food was quick. My wife and I had dinner at the Guadalahara Restaurant on West 41st St. in Sioux Falls on Saturday evening 06/24/2023. I ordered the shredded beef burrito which normally is an outstanding dish. This time the beef was dry, had absolutely no flavor and I could barely finish the meal. In addition, the bean side dish was runny, had no consistency and the salsa for the chips was so thin that I could not keep it on the chip. I told the server about this terrible meal and she did not appear to understand or care. I asked to speak to the manager and was told the manager was not present which seemed unusual for a busy Saturday evening. I called the restaurant on Tuesday and spoke to a female employee who identifed herself as the manager. I told her about the terrible meal and asked if the restaurant had changed cooks but got no answer. My wife and I get to Sioux Falls often but I will not eat at the 41st St. Guadalahara in the future. read more

I stopped in again on my way through town and the food and service were again top notch. I had fajitas and tamale and, along with the chips, salsa and queso, I left full and happy, even without a margarita! The staff at this place is amazing - the servers are friendly and efficient and the kitchen staff is FAST. I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews! Most reviews were complimentary and frankly it was the closest Mexican restaurant to our hotel. The ambiance is great- bright and cheery, and music playing softly in the background. The food was far to be desired. No disrespect to the others who love this place, but I wonder what they're comparing it to... The chips were nice and warm (my daughter hated them- what kid doesn't like chips??), but the salsa seemed to have been made with tomato sauce as the base. Yuck! When my chicken chimichanga arrived, the portion was so small that the plate was overpowered by rice and beans. The chicken was absolutely flavorless! Thankfully the lettuce, sour cream and guacamole (by far the best thing there, btw!) helped tremendously. My daughter ordered a chicken quesadilla, which she rated a 6 out of 10. Aside from the food, we had 2 servers. The younger woman was incredibly friendly, but the older woman had the worst temperament for being a server. I think it's time for her to retire. read more

So mistakes happen, but when I called to get a credit, they were argumentative, insisted they were right, and disputed the order although I was reading it from THEIR RECEPT! Honestly, for what they charged me refunding the cost of a missed taco wasn't worth a bad review. Plus...who wants to dine at a restaurant with hostile staff! read more

Guadalajara Mexican restaurant is a very good place for some Mexican fare in Southwest Sioux Falls. On our visit we were greeted promptly and seated immediately. The wait staff brought us some nachos and salsa. The chips are 2nd to none, and the salsa was very good, although it may be just slightly hot for some tastes. The entrees were very good. Pretty typical for this area. There are around 10-12 sit down Mexican restaurants in the area and I would rate it 3rd best. read more
