Great slices and good pepperoni pizza. Would be 5 starts but they've had low batteries in their smoke detectors for weeks maybe months seems like every time I stop in. I don't know how the employees can tolerate it. They beep every minute or so. It's not pleasant to sit and eat with beeping. Take five minutes and replace the dang batteries my dude. read more

We were traveling Hiway 1 on a Sunday about 7:30 pulled in to a service station, to get quick fillup and snacks, looked around and saw a grocery & bakery , decided to try it. To our surprise there was not only a bakery but made to order breakfast, I order the Burrito with cheese and egg, my husband ordered a breakfast burrito with pork. We were both so surprised first the savory yes savory flavor of the burritos, mine had a white salsa or sauce that made the flavor pop. They have latte's cappuccino's etc... and of course regular coffee. It was clean and well organized. If you get the opportunity go it's not only a breakfast place-this a must try. Pricing is in line and service is great, please remember each item is made to order and you can see your cook making it- 5 - 10 min wait well worth it! read more

It is really sad when you live in the Bay Area and have to drive all the way to Gualala for an incredible burrito! This place is awesome! something for everyone, quite literally! You also know when the construction workers tell you to order two, save one burrito for later that this is the place to be! We had carne asada and carnitas burritos. Something about their rice and quality of the meat - ratios were spot on, really tasty and delicious tortillas! Pizza is fine - my son gobbled it up, I prefer a slightly different style pizza, but nice quality! We got a few cookies and pastries, all were delicious! Loveeeee Sea Ranch, but everyone once in a while, it's nice to mix things up with a meal that's simple, and not hundreds of dollars. Gualala Pizza and Bakery actually had some of the better Mexican food I can remember having along the coast. Go for the fresh baja fish tacos playyer, that come with a seriously good verde sauce. Service was always fantastic, the food was great, price was fair, and portion sizes were large. We stopped in here 3 or 4 times during the week we were in Gualala. Each time, we were not disappointed. The coffee is hot and fresh and the bakery items were soo good (the cinnamon roll with pecans on the top was my favorite). We had breakfast one day and split the burrito and breakfast tacos. Both were really tasty and filling. Bathrooms were clean and functioning. It's a very casual dining experience in a food court of a market center right next to the Gualala Supermarket I would highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch! read more

My kid had to use the bathroom and there were signs all over that said "bathrooms for customers only". In hindsight we probably could have just ran in and used it but we were guilt-tripped into buying something. Normally we would steer clear of anywhere that had a sign that said "bakery, pizza, mexican" but the tacos we ordered were very good. We got 1 asada and 1 carnitas tacos and this would be my go-to taqueria if it was local, in certain locations in the bay area this would be a top stop for mexican food. Quality of the meat was good, wondering if the close proximity to so many ranches and farms have anything to do with it. The tortillas here are very thin, they reminded me of the wrapping you get with peking roast duck. I liked this a lot, wasn't as filling and the meat, onions, and cilantro have a sharper taste when not diluted by too much carbs. Inside is set up like a food court, there is gallery and shops upstairs and down, the pizza/mexican is directly in front of the door and the bakery is on the left. We didn't get to try anything but the tacos but did note the bakery is open at 6 am. read more

Very disappointed, We were in Point Arena and asked a local Mexican lady where's a good Mexican restaurant to eat. She recommended this place. It was very limited Mexican dishes. They may look like a hole-in-the-wall (because they kind of are) but the food is delicious and exactly the comfort food I was craving. Ordered their enchiladas suizas with chicken and a side of chips and guacamole. Great flavors and super mild spice. Their side of refried beans was perhaps my favorite part of the meal. Loved using the chips to eat my main course; especially with those beans. The only reason they aren't getting a solid 5 stars is because of the stingy guacamole portion. It was literally a slice of avocado sitting in the small side container, and disappeared with the first chip... Will definitely return to try their carnitas (and order an extra serving of those refried beans). read more

There is a $1 service charge for credit cards. The place is to the right of the grocery store as one approaches from the main road. It shares an interior space with a bakery, a quilting shop and a sport rental/tackle shop. There are tables inside (see picture) but no table service; they're more geared toward take-out. read more

Gualala is a small beach town, so you don't have a lot of options when it comes to carry out pizza. We ordered a simple cheese pizza and it was large and tasted just fine. We just did not feel welcome here. Maybe some of our issues were Covid policy related? I am not sure. We were a little confused walking in where to order. The place is located in a little stripmall and it looks run down and not that clean. There was a number of tables with chairs piled on top. As you walk in, the bakery counter is to the left and the pizza/fast food counter is straight on. We waited a while for somebody to come to the counter, and the lady was just not very friendly. She seemed to assume that we had been there before and knew exactly what we wanted. She looked so annoyed to see us. The menu was on a paper on the counter. We had to wait 40 minutes without anywhere to sit. The business closed SO EARLY, 7pm, especially for a pizza place during vacation season. Again. the pizza itself was not bad, and I would try again in more "normal" times. read more

On our recent road trip vacation to Northern California, we stopped at an adorable small town called Gualala---Love that name, lol! We went to the Gualala Supermarket for groceries and next door was a pizzeria that smelled delicious! It was lunch time so we decided to eat there. Oh my goodness! The pizza was amazing! The cheese was mouth watering! They clearly use high quality cheese! They make the pizza right in front of you with the freshest ingredients. This business opened 20 years ago and has been owned by the same family since day one. They provide great service and seems to be a favorite of locals. I am just disappointed I don't have this pizzeria near my home. If you live in Gualala, and haven't tried this place-you're missing out. I may be a bit biased because I happen to live near Gualala Pizza and Ice Cream. This has been our "go to" take out (and sometimes eat in the food court) restaurant for many years. Everything I have ever had here is very good and a reasonable price for a small town. The salmon tacos are a must have! Afterwards you can step into the bakery and get some delicious treats. Great place to take the kids. Staff is always friendly and they run a great business. They have a very wide range of food to pretty much suit anyone's cravings. I'd imagine if you are staying at a Hotel or vacation home in the area, take out would be a great way to have a meal without having to cook. Or take to a nice place and enjoy the river and ocean views. read more

While vacationing up in North California, we tried this pizza for lunch after making a trip to the grocery store located right next to it. Let me just say, it is utterly delicious! Everything about this pizza was so downright delightful. From the full yet crispy crust, to the tasty marinara sauce, to the supple and luscious cheese, to the messily scattered toppings, it is a mixture of pure perfection. This review is specific to the Mexican food at this location. Staff friendly. Canned cheese sauce. They run the bakery, pizza and Mexican food in one kitchen. Chicken was good but fake cheese on the nachos....cheese from the can. My daughter ordered a cheese enchilada. Not sure how it was made....we were perplexed, but there was no cheese in it. We have been Upper Crust Pizzeria regulars for around 15 years. The problem is that Upper Crust is open when they feel like it and will sometimes have your pizza ready in 15 minutes, and 45 on other days. We have kids, so if you do also, you understand why the sombination of being open when the owner feels like it and the random preparation times can be frustrating also. We always loved the pizza at Upper Crust though. Its very good. But the last time we went up there was the last straw when the owner was inside, the sign said open at 4:00, it was 4:25, and I knocked on the door and asked if he was going to open, and all he would do is wave me away over and over. I'm done there now. We walked around the Hotel into the strip mall and decided to try the pizza at Gualala Pizza and Ice Cream. Wow, what a surprise! Upper Crust's strength was always the tangy/spicy sauce they have, but not only does Gualala Pizza have a comparable sauce, its even better! The pizza were so comparable, that I would not be suprised if the person who came up with the recipe here was a former Upper Crust employee. The pizza is better than Upper Crust, the service is friendly and prompt (12 minutes from order to pizza being handed to us), and its considerably cheaper, as I was getting tired of spending $30 per pizza at Upper Crust. I am happy to have tried Gualala Pizza and Ice Cream (the ice cream is just Dreyer's, not Mendocino ice cream like the good old days) and can say I will not be going to Upper Crust ever again as long as I have this better, faster, more-dependable, and cheaper option. read more
