This is a Mexican ice cream shop so it has a lot of Mexican desserts/options like mangonada and bionicos. The flavors of ice cream are also inspired by Mexican flavors. My favorite is the Mexican chocolate, sooo good. Reminds me of Abuelita hot coco. Even tho it's winter I'll still be stopping by to get my fix once in a while. Came here on a hot Sunday afternoon. Line was a little long but bearable. Luckily they do have a shaded awning. There's an order window only with one table to sit at. I'm not too familiar with Mexican ice creams or desserts but I saw several people with a creamy white drink with a strawberry drizzle. Turns out it was their piña colado and oh. my. gahhhhhh it was soooooo good! I would have preferred it to be a little thicker, but it was still hella good! First time trying out this place. I was surprised with the amount of items in their menu and the amount of unique ice cream flavors. The items are a bit pricier than other places, but if everything is as delicious as the ice cream we got I don't mind once in a while. My husband and I shared a 2 scoop ice cream waffle cone - cookies & cream and strawberry cheesecake. I both were delicious, but I loved the strawberry cheesecake! So creamy, so delicious. This is an excellent Mexican ice cream spot in Pittsburg. It's perfect when the weather starts to get hot and unbearable. And they close at 9pm, so you can come in the evening when it's not too hot. The boyfriend and I shared a mango sorbet and platano (banana). The two flavors went really well together! Mango was refreshing and slightly tart, while the banana was just creamy and rich. Don't expect this place to be a spot where you can hang around and enjoy your ice cream. They only have one bench outside good for two, maybe three, people. Their location isn't thaaaaat hard to miss, but drive slow on your way here. I don't really want to comment on the service because the lady working there was patient with me wanting to try more than one flavor. From the taste of their ice cream, I can tell everything is homemade. The consistency was very creamy and each flavor I tried tasted just like its name. As for the scoops, I paid $6 for two, which I think is a good price given they are family owned and use natural and fresh ingredients. I can see how this place can get busy during hot summer days! This is my favorite place to get ice cream and treats!! Sometimes there's a line but it moves fast and the people are friendly. The ice cream is made by them and not just store bought. There's a lot of different flavors to try that you won't find in the other places. If you haven't tried the Mexican treats i highly recommend you do! The bionico, escamocha are delicious!! The Strawberry ice cream was delicious, one of the best I've had, serving size was pretty big for a 1 scoop ice cream. The service was also very good, we ordered the ice cream and not even 5 minutes later our order came out. The ambience was nice, they adapted to covid practices by ordering outside instead of going inside to order. A downside to this is you cant see the ice cream and how it looks before you order but im sure any of their ice cream is good. The prices are a bit expensive ($4.25 for 1 scoop in a cup + tax) but if you don't care about the pricing just the great taste, this is a place for you! Would recommend. I had a biónico and I was a bit disappointed... the sweet cream was very watery compared to the consistency it should usually be when made. (Maybe it was too watery for my personal liking but it was almost like eating cereal... the cream didn't really cover the fruits.) Also, they used FROZEN strawberries... it gave it such an artificial taste. I could tell they weren't berries frozen by them but purchased pre-frozen. I prefer fresh cut fruit for my biónicos. Saturday September 8, 2018 Intro: Oh I'm so glad for this place, with me being "Lactose Intolerant" I can't always partake in the delicious creamy frozen confection called "Ice Cream" and it's many other forms without having to have some "Lactaid" on hand. Lucky for me "Guanatos" had me taken care of because they offer non dairy offerings that will still tickle your taste buds. They also have a few select offering that aren't ice cream for those of you that like like may want a "Tostiloco" instead of an ice cream. But for this review, allow me to tell you why "Guanatos" scored a homerun in my book. Guanatos Ice Cream Bay Point: When you come here be prepared to try something different. You're not going to get your basic "Vanilla" or "Chocolate" here, you're going to get "Horchata" or "Nutela" although they do have the previous mentioned flavors. Most of the non dairy offerings they have here are all fruit based flavors, but what's the fun in that for right now, lucky me I did have some of my lactose tablets with me and I went hardcore with sampling flavors. Once of the more unique flavors I tried was "Tequila", you could taste it in the ice cream, it was definitely different and pretty cool. Another flavor I tried was "Aguacate/Avocado" I found this one to be pretty interesting, as I've always associated the taste of an avocado with a savory pairing, this one was okay. They also had ice cream and fruit bars here if getting just ice cream won't do for you. The staff here was very friendly and happy to let me sample all the unique offering they had here. I also saw they had fruit cups and ingredients to make other snacks you may associate with your local "Paletero". After sampling a few flavors I decided to go with a 1 scoop cup ($3.00) of "Elote/Corn" flavored ice cream. I have to say I really liked this ice cream, if you love creamed corn then this is for you. The best part about this ice cream to me what the fact it had corn in it so you knew that that's what you're eating. The flavor was indeed familiar yet it was very different because who in the heck would of thought that "Corn" would be a mainstream flavor for ice cream. I honestly wished after I devoured this up that I would of gotten at least a 2 scoop, but of course I didn't want to overdue it, even with me having my lactose tablets with me. The ice cream here is rich, I attribute that to the unique flavors and it actually being made with real quality ingredients right here in the bay area, "Hayward" to be exact. The stuff here is "Da Bomb" and is unlike anything you'll see at "31 Flavors"..Baskin Robbins. Overall: Let me just say, this place was made for adventurous people. It was made for people that like to go against the grain. It was made for lovers of ice cream and everything associated with it. A humble shop with a different take on flavors you may be used to, with something you may not even have heard of. They pretty much have something for everyone here. Young and Old, I think this place pretty much is the joy people get out of life. I highly recommend this place, I haven't been to any other ice cream shop like it and I'm sure if you visit you'll feel the same way that I feel about "Guanatos". Yea, I'm a fan. read more

WOW!!! What a great little ice cream shop!! My daughter and I came in for an afternoon treat and were pleasantly surprised. The building is done in bright and happy colors which matches the employees that greet you as soon as you enter. I told the young woman behind the counter that this was our first time and she instantly helped us with samples. It was hard to decide since there are so many great choices...avocado, coconut, guava, Mexican chocolate...it was a tough job but I settled for elite (Sweet Corn) and my daughter got coconut. Guanatos. That's so much fun to say. GUANATOS. I've been living merely blocks from this ice cream digs and it took me last month or this month (I don't remember) to have actually tried it. I mean, I knew it was pretty popular after all every time I drive past this place no matter what kind of weather (hot or cold) there were people here, and around lunch time or late in the evening there would be a long, long line. As it happens, I first tried this place when I was out and about with my little brother. We had just enjoyed a pretty snazzy lunch at In N Out. We were looking for some dessert. We were definitely not in the mood for anything pastry like. That meant no cake, no muffins, no cookies, no nothing like that. It had to be ice cream. This was a day that was that was rare. THERE WAS NO LINE. We jumped at the chance to go here. LORD WE REACHED THE JACKPOT Let me explain that yes they do have the standard flavors in their collection. They got chocolate, they got vanilla, they got chocolate chip, and they got cookies 'n cream. BUT they also got cheese ice cream, birthday cake ice cream, Mexican chocolate, tequila ice cream. They didn't just have ice cream. They had ice cream pops. They had shakes. They had sundaes. They sold Taki's. They sold mixed fruit drinks. THERE WAS SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM. it definitely felt tropical, from another world even. The little man and I decided to share a waffle cone with two scoops of cookies 'n cream. Let me tell you that those two scoops are big, and I mean, big. $5.50 The people are bilingual. They can speak Spanish and they spoke to us in English. Note: my Spanish is basic and a work in progress. They were efficient. They were quick. They were so good at their work. The ice cream was so good. Like I've noticed in some spots that, the Oreos aren't even that big in the ice cream. It would normally be like small pieces, but this one, this one had large pieces of Oreo.
