I contacted VIP Pool & Spa after Yelp recommended them as one of the "Best pool cleaners in Las…read moreVegas". As can be seen from the attached images my only need for a professional pool cleaner was to remove the bumpy, brown substance from the sides of my pool and the underlying ugly dark brown stains that covered all four sides (I didn't need a pro to sweep out some leaves and mop up a thin dirt ring around the drain). I was told that since "every pool is different" I would have to wait and see the results of their "chlorine wash" to determine if enough stain was removed to avoid having to paint the pool - which Jeff, the owner, said they would do for $1,200. As can be seen in image #2, after the SECOND "cleaning" was completed virtually NONE of the stain was removed! The first wash resulted in a 5 foot corner section where the crusty brown stuff had been removed but mostly still remaining everywhere else. The stain was completely unchanged. After finding that the stain could be reduced slightly with scouring powder, and that the crusty brown material was still covering most of my pool, Jeff sent the same person out to work on it some more. This resulted in the crusty stuff being completely removed (proving it wasn't done the first time) and the upper, lightest band of staining being reduced slightly but still having no effect on the darkest, ugliest staining. After protesting that so little had been done for $400 Jeff reminded me that he never promised they could remove all staining and that this was the best that could be done. No further reduction in staining was possible. This would have left me no choice but to paint the pool. But it wasn't true. There absolutely was a way to not only reduce the staining further but to completely eliminate it! Which would have also eliminated the need to have my pool cleaned or painted. In the hopes of avoiding a $1,200 paint job I went online to research pool stains to see if there were any other options. I learned that this was an iron rust stain which is among the most common types of fiberglass pool stains, which can be ENTIRELY REMOVED with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) which is universally recognized amongst pool cleaners as the definitive solution. So I added about two tablespoons of ascorbic acid to an 8 ounce glass of water and splashed it onto the side of the pool - then watched the stain COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR in a matter of seconds! I didn't even have to touch the side of the pool. I've since learned all I ever had to do was refill my pool and dump about a pint of this into it and let the filter run for about 24 hours. There are only two possibilities here: Either they knew what kind of stain this was and how to remove it, or they didn't. Either the owner of a professional pool cleaning service, with 16 years of experience, or the professional pool cleaner he sent out to clean it, was aware of this simple, inexpensive solution to this common pool stain, or BOTH of them didn't know how to solve a stain that I found a solution to after 10 minutes on YouTube. I sent a video to Jeff demonstrating the ease in which the stain could be completely removed and an e-mail explaining why I thought it was unreasonable that I should pay $400 to accomplish little more than the removal of some leaves and a small circular mud stain when a complete cleaning solution was readily available. After six days with no reply and the video never being downloaded I called Jeff to again request a refund. He acknowledged reading my e-mail but never watching the video, then said that since "We did what we we're paid for" and "The pool is going to be the best it can" there were "no refunds". After each time I explained that I was the one who removed the stain (so did their job) he would respond, "Well if you did what you say you did ... if the stain's gone then it's gone. All you've got to do is just fill up your pool." He acknowledged that "There's all kinds of stains...", that iron rust stains was one he was familiar with, and that "We've been doing this since 2004 and every pool we come across is different" but would never answer my direct question as to why my stain was never even tested to determine its type and if he was aware that ascorbic acid was the solution to an iron rust stain. He just kept repeating comments like, "I'm happy that the stain is gone but we did our work, we did what we were paid for, and there's no refunds." I told him that I obviously wasn't going to sue him over $400 but I would certainly make others aware of what happened here. He replied, "Then you have to do what you have to do and I have to do what I have to do. I appreciate your call and you have a great day." Then hung up on me. I've since learned that practically every type of pool stain has a definitive and complete solution, most involving little more than pouring something into it. If you hire VIP to clean your pool don't let them convince you otherwise.

They drained my pool and did an acid wash, charged me over $300 for "startup chemicals" and assured me the pool would be clean for my tenants but they knew all along that they were going out of business so they stopped sending the pictures with the weekly status reports and started ghosting me when I inquired about why I haven't been receiving the pictures and of course no reply! Against my better judgment and as a gesture of good faith, I prepaid my pool service from September until February so I didn't have to deal with very unreasonable tenants. To my surprise, Johhny and Trinity did not refund the remainder of my prepayment and lied to the new contractor Desi at Pool Medic who to my surprise tried to get me to pay for Dec & January pool service . They seemed like honorable people, but I can't warn you enough to stay away from these people if they ever get back into the pool business again. They ghosted me and then claimed they didn't sell their business to another vendor and to my surprise I got a bill for services that were already prepaid from Pool Medic. Johhny assured me he would send me receipts of the credits to my credit cards but as of today that never happened. Nevada law says 10% upfront only and every time they did work for me they wanted 100% upfront. What a disappointment and betrayal of trust! Karma will get these two!

The pool smart team gave me practical advice on how to do the repair economically, and was even cool with me shopping for parts online. No upsell or up charge pressure at all! It turned out to be a really complicated replacement, due to a lot of difficult job site conditions that weren't expected at the beginning of the job. The pool smart team completed the repair the same day, and everything is working perfectly. Solid choice. Look no further!

This month, we hired BND Pool Plastering to complete a much needed renovation of our existing pool…read more Besides BND, we got 2 other estimates. All were competitive and each used a different pebble-type finish. We made the decision to move forward with BND because of our outstanding experience working with Michael, our estimator, and because BND is the only company in the valley trained and approved to install Wet Edge Technologies plaster products. We fell in love with their Prism Matrix Indigo Blue product (a multi-color pebble finish with glass beads, shell and tumbled tiny rocks). Their pricing was in line with the other estimates and fell in the middle to upper part of all estimate costs, but offered a longer warranty at 5 years and a longer estimated lifespan than some of the other finishes (estimated around 20 years with proper weekly care and maintenance). Overall, we are so happy with our decision! It was a GREAT experience working with all of the BND team and the finished results look fantastic!! (See photos.) Michael was just the best to work with! We were referred to BND by Jaron at California Pools. He provided me with contact info for Jay, BND's owner. He had Michael reach out to me right away to set-up our first estimate appt. Michael was my main point person during our whole project. He was so patient with us and let us put every color sample chip in our pool underwater next to our new tile selection before we finalized the contract to ensure we loved our selection. (It is so important to see them submerged as the colors can be very different under water than when they are dry.) In addition to draining our pool, chipping out the old plaster and replastering our pool, we also had the BND team remove our old calcified glass waterline tile and part of our back wall pool tile. The hard water in Las Vegas made both of the old tile selections almost impossible to keep clean. BND installed our selected Pearl Matte 12" x 24" pool tiles purchased from Aquabella (6" x 24" around the waterline to minimize grout lines). They handled the ordering and materials pick-up with Aquabella. (Our grout selection was TSP Sterling.) The whole renovation process was so well organized by both Michael and Dani at their office. And their crews were awesome!! They worked clean covering all of our outdoor furniture with heavy plastic along with our driveway, underneath their slurry box in the street as well as any of our walkways they would be using for their tools and to transport materials. Marco even put down plastic under the hose on our artificial turf when draining the pool. The whole chip-out process was completed in one day (Friday) with 12 crew members. The 2-person tile team came the following Monday to both remove the old tile and install the new tile. Both crews were so careful around our pool decking and our stacked stone on the back pool wall that was staying. All the guys worked very clean which I truly appreciated! Michael would come each day to inspect the finished work and give the okay for the next phase of work to continue. Dani at their office would confirm the following day's work schedules with me each afternoon. We had our pool lights replaced by Nationwide Pool LLC on Wednesday which we planned with our scheduling. Replastering was completed on Thursday. On Friday, a small team returned to complete the light acid wash. In a 9-day span, all of the work was completed! Marco returned the end of the following week to re-install our pool cleaning pop-up heads. Michael and BND also provided detailed instructions on the first 30 days of pool care after our pool was re-filled with water. The timing was perfect for us to use Nationwide Pool for our 5-day new pool refinishing kick-off. They appreciated the detailed instructions to insure proper care. Michael also fielded some extra questions from me the following week that came up during our 5-day kick-off service. Overall, Michael and the whole BND crew and staff were wonderful to work with.
