Visited this location recently for a late night bite and unfortunately our server Liz made the visit less than favorable. Asking for simple things meant her carrying eating utensils with her bare hands over to the table. Never in any world is it okay to carry straws from the middle of the straw where it will make contact with what you are drinking and give it to patrons to use. She is not well versed on what the restaurant has and seemed to be rushing us. She started taking things from the table before asking if we were done. These things were a first for me and I was shocked. She does not seem attentive or observant which is a huge red flag when it comes to service. She may benefit from additional training. The drinks (without use of the unsanitary straws) were delicious! The food was decent but there are items that I would not get again. If I were to give this place another try, I would hope to get better service from a different server for sure. The restaurant has a cute atmosphere but there are for sure better options in the area. First time going to Kooma. Our server was attentive and very friendly. She made several suggestions and talked through some allergy issues with us. I ordered the bibimbap (no onions) per her recommendation and was very satisfied. The meat was flavorful and the rice well cooked. The edamame was a surprisingly large portion sprinkled with flaky salt. The gyoza were nicely pan fried but looked and tasted like the Bibigo frozen dumplings so I think they might use frozen dumplings. All the food came out hot and I was able to take home half for another meal. Kooma is a more expensive place but all the entrees are a decent size. (Not pictured: beef pad Thai and honey chicken). My husband and I decided we wanted to try a place that was new to us for date night so I made reservations for us to try Kooma on a Saturday night. The ambience was beautiful. Perfect for a romantic date night. We started with cocktails, a smoked old fashioned for him and a Mango Tango for me. Both drinks came out perfectly. Next we did the rock shrimp and crab cake bites as our appetizers. Spoiler alert: the rock shrimp was our favorite item of the evening. Crispy little tender shrimp in a spicy mayo sauce that were as addictive as eating potato chips. We couldn't stop until they were gone. The crab cake bites were 3 golf ball sized crispy crab cakes, with a strong old bay flavor, along with a sweet accent that may have come from the yuzu aioli. For our entrees I did the honey chicken and my husband did the ribeye bimbimbap. The server notified my husband the meat would arrive raw, which was appreciative. His came out in a sizzling stone pot and I encouraged him to stir things around a bit to allow them to cook evenly. Not sure if this was recommended, but it did work. The rice on the bottom got very crispy, dare I say burnt. It was our first time trying this, so we have nothing to compare it to, but it definitely didn't blow us away. The honey chicken was flavorful, but the veggies it was served with were so gently steamed it was as if they were raw, and sans seasoning. I love vegetables but I couldn't enjoy them because they were just too undercooked for my liking. We don't think there are any dessert options, but we aren't sure. There weren't any on the menu and our server didn't offer us any, but having a few dessert options would have been nice. If I could give half stars I'd give this experience a 3.5. Came for a work celebration and while the space isn't really set up for groups they made it work with tables and enough servers. In fact service was almost TOO attentive checking in and fussing around a lot! But the drinks were delicious, quick to refill, and amazing food of all kinds. We went to Kooma for after dinner drinks and sat at the bar. They have an extensive drink menu featuring martinis, hiballs, and sake. Although we didn't have dinner here, everything looked and smelled delicious. I started with the Berry Bobatini made with strawberry vodka. A few blueberry boba pearls were at the bottom of this drink. It was refreshing and not too sweet. My husband has the Japanese Whisky Hiball which he said was a little too bitter for his taste. The hostess seemed disengaged and didn't greet us upon arrival. After being seated outside, we weren't acknowledged by our server for quite some time. I had to flag down another staff member just to ask when we would be helped. It took over 20 minutes for two rolls to arrive, which felt excessive given how slow the restaurant was at the time. That said, the food itself was decent. I tried the Kooma Special Roll and the Wild Summer Roll, both of which had good flavor. However, considering the high prices, I expected much better service and overall experience. There are several other sushi spots in the area that offer better value and more attentive service. There's plenty of parking in the area even on a busy weekend evening during holiday season. Our waitress, Eleanor, was a gem in taking care of us. She understood our vegetarian diet and was great at pointing out the correct items and even highlighting when things look vegetarian but had secret ingredients like fish sauce as to why something is not vegetarian. We got the salmon entree and the main bowl option. The food was good and large portion sizes. We shared most of it. I ordered the honey chicken , which was marked as gluten free, I was told that they would maintain strict cross-contamination guidelines so that I would be safe. The server who brought my dish out, reiterated that it was gluten-free. Within an hour of eating the dish, I started to have symptoms within 10 hours I am full-blown symptomatic. Very disappointed to pay $30 plus tip to be made ill. They did a horrible job on this one. Don't go there if you need good standards they will not deliver. This was my first visit to Kooma KOP, and while the food was decent, the customer service was unacceptable. I waited 35 minutes for a pickup order I had already received a "ready" text for. No one checked on me, updated me, or acknowledged me--not even the person who originally took my name. When I finally asked again, the takeout staff didn't apologize. Instead, she blamed me for "giving the wrong name," even though I clearly provided my order number. My food had been sitting right next to me the entire time. I felt blamed for a situation that could have been easily handled with basic communication and professionalism. To make matters worse, when I called afterward and asked to speak with management, I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes and never spoke to anyone. First time coming won't be the last. Here's a couple of vibes and flavors I experienced at kooma. First we will start off with the ambience, I'd take a nice pretty girl here for lunch if she liked sushi because it's a very well lit restaurant,clean, feels more expensive then I belive it is bill came out to $56 after tip for just me. I'm not sure i would take a girl out to dinner here not much privacy nothing really set apart from other people. But that brings me to my next point from the seating arrangement you can clearly tell there's enough space for people to sit and not be butting shoulders with each other which again great comfortable place. My server bob was excellent any questions I had he answered them he was constantly ready to fill up my water and didn't seem bothered once. So I give everything on that side 4.5 stars. Then we come to the food, I got the Short rib bbq lettuce wraps as a appetizer The biggest takeaway from this was the Meat was extremely soft tender and the flavor was explosive which as a food critic that's what I look for the lettuce was exactly what I was looking for something to lighten the density of any meat I was going to eat here. I did for some reason sense a hint of mint in the lettuce at one point which caught me off guard a little bit but I could be wrong and can't complain with it chives for presentation all around great. I'd give it a 4.7 the lettuce was a bit bulky but not much they can do about that it's supposed to be a lettuce wrap. For the main course I got the Mix and match lunch special It came with tuna it was good definitely tasted fresh but the rice !!! Made it the flavor from the rice was explosive exactly what I look for it's hard to explain what they put in the rice but it was thick not over or undercooked and the seasoning in it was just perfect Then we get to the yellowtail by far the best fish I've ever had rice and the fish went perfectly together salmon was great I'm not a big salmon guy but this just couldn't complain about which is hard to belive because I ate the yellow tail first. red snap going back to the I'm not a big fish guy this was the most fishy still good but honestly hated the texture that's just me tho but then we go to the basic California roll sushi thee avocado adds a great gentle touch of softness to the sushi it's a good California roll is all I need to say about it. Conclusion, Everything was fresh and if it was cooked it was cooked perfectly it was a light fulfilling meal great to eat in the middle of a work day I'll come back with a date for lunch sometime. This was our first time here. Kooma is in a great location in King of Prussia surrounded by other restaurants and shops. It is nicely decorated and well lit. A couple things did bring the rating down which were unfortunate. There was a large hair wrapped into my napkin. I just took care of it but those things can take away from the moment. One of the glasses on the table wasn't clean and the bottle of water brought to our table had crumbs and things on the outside. Another strange thing is that the base of the tables is a very large circle that prevents you from pulling your chair close enough to the table. I haven't experienced this before. It made it awkward for sure. There were too many of these little things that happened. But... how was the food? We started with o-toro fatty tuna and some pan seared gyoza. Both were good and well prepared. We had two premier roles (Bruce Lee and the Godzilla role). They were great and the presentation on the Godzilla role was cool. We also had the spicy Kooma noodles with chicken and the Kooma noodle udon. Our server was very friendly and helpful. He checked in with us at the right times. Overall it was okay.
