I dined here with 2 teenagers last night around 6:15pm. As it was not busy, we were immediately greeted and seated. The restaurant is clean and nicely maintained, and I liked the cool ambiance. We started with pan-fried pork and chicken dumplings. They were the perfect texture and temperature and the sauce was good. I only tried one of the pork dumplings, which by itself lacked flavor. I enjoyed the delicious Tom Kha Gai soup -- best part of my meal. I ordered the Red Hot Roll, which was beautifully presented but was just OK. It was not spicy at all and had a weird aftertaste. I couldn't put my finger on it: I thought it was the wasabi or avocado, but it still tasted funny without them. It was disappointing. The teens had Crunchy Spicy Tuna Rolls, which they liked but also noticed a subtly odd flavor. They finished with tempura fried ice creams (one vanilla, one chocolate) and I had a green tea ice cream. No issues there. Service was satisfactory. Came on Xmas eve for the Feast of the Seven Fishes. Had a seaweed salad which was a great big portion and not too salty. My wifey got the steamed dumplings and they were plump, hot and tasty. My dad got the Hot & Sour soup which was a bit too spicey for him, but he finished his bowl. I ordered the sashimi sampler as it said it had seven pieces picked by the chef. I expected seven different fish but instead received 3 tuna, 2 yellow tail and 2 salmon. Nice portions so it was satisfying but I wish I had asked. Wifey had a shrimp tempura role she loved and dad got the General Tso's chicken which was really really good and a good size. We will be back. I gave it a 4 instead of 5 because it did start to get busy but we had to wait a half hour for the check. Wow, what a disappointment. This place has 4 stars? I've never felt more misled from Yelp. I ordered 6 rolls, totaling $90, to be delivered by DoorDash last night. When they arrived, they looked amazing! However when my boyfriend and I started eating, we were disgusted by how low the quality was...the fish was clearly not fresh. I could tell he didn't want to mention anything, but we were starving and both ate some edamame, tried the rolls, and both kind of fought over the last of the edamame, leaving the rolls. The spicy tuna on top of the Bomb Roll didn't even taste like tuna and was so fishy and the texture was like cat food. The fish in the rest of the rolls just had this unpleasant taste that was off and not what we were expecting. We threw everything in the trash and just went out to get more food since we were still hungry, and to try to forget about how much of a letdown this place was. I wasted $90 on some of the worst sushi I've ever had. This is usually the place in the review where I recommend somewhere else in the area, however I'm not from West Chester. Fusion is amazing, every time I am back in West Chester it is the first place I go for dinner. And if I don't go in, I will take out. If you are going to come here, go for the SUSHI!! They have an extensive variety of rolls to choose from that are super creative and delicious. Looking at all of the rolls is a little overwhelming, however, you will not be disappointed if you take the time. Also, there is a FANTASTIC DEAL--you can order the Special Roll Combo for $19, where you can pick any two rolls on the menu. Really great because the cheapest rolls start at $11 each. I always get two Fantastic Rolls because they are, well, FANTASTIC! My family actually has come so much, there is a special rolled named after a custom roll my father enjoyed getting--the Grant Roll. If you look over the menu there are a bunch of rolls bearing customers' names, which is so great and shows that the staff really enjoys what they do and their customers. I would recommend the fantastic roll and special rainbow roll for specialties, and the spicy tuna crunch was also a good twist I would recommend ( better than the average spicy tuna roll). There are many other specialties to choose from that would please any crowd. Also this is a BYOB, which is always a plus in my book! We will be making this one of our regulars for sushi. Service - The waiters were attentive. Ours came back several times to check on us and refill our drinks. The food came out within 10 minutes and we ordered 5 rolls. So I was on the way home and used yelp to help find the nearest eats. Fusion Asian Restaurant came up with high reviews - sounds good to me. I also like to do some recon before I take my wife out to Asian places, since she is Japanese we find many sub-par Asian places. I walked in on a Thursday afternoon, I was the only customer. I ordered sushi, sashimi and one of the house specialties, crispy duck. I love crispy duck and if it's on the menu, I order it. Unagi (eel) sushi was ok. Sake (salmon) sashimi was excellent! When I asked how the crispy duck was prepared, I received an answer of "crispy" ... yes and ..."with brown sauce." I was not getting anywhere else as far as a description went, so I just ordered it! Well, it had red sauce and looked like it was dipped in a tempura mix. Tempura mix I guess would make it crispy ...never had it like that. Well, when I took one bite I figured out why, it was terrible. Tasted like flour and did not go with the duck at all. The duck was reheated and very fatty, some fat is expected, but this bird was obviously not trimmed at all. I had big pieces of fat I just couldn't eat since it was just all fat. Half way through I had enough, I thought well at least I can munch the leg ... until I turned it over and found a plastic tag still attached to it - that was it! I called the server over, who was finally done with HIS meal, since he was too busy eating himself to came over for the traditional, :How is your meal" check and to fill up my empty tea cup. When I complained about the tag and that the duck tasted old and reheated, he replied like well yes, they get it that way. I said, I understand that it may come frozen, but this is old and reheated ... then he explained that they get it precooked! WTF!?! Precooked, I do not go to restaurants to eat precooked food, I can do that at home, which is what I told him. So the house speciality is warmed up pre-cooked duck! RED FLAG! I was not charged for the duck. Overall. Staff was friendly, but neglected me while they were eating themselves. Presentation of food was nice with a little extra as they paint designs with the sauce. Sushi/sashimi was ok, and as we have established, the duck was the worst ever! Fusion has great sushi for lunch and dinner. They have a lunch special that allows you to get 3 regular rolls, and soup or salad for like $11. They also have an "Any two specialty rolls" for $19 all day. That's a great deal considering some of the specialty rolls are almost that much for one, plus they have a 10% off coupon on their take out menu. I've never had bad sushi at this place and always look forward to going back. The lo mein is awesome as well. I've had the general tso and orange chicken for take out, and it was kind of soggy by the time I got it home. My mom decided to show me this new sushi place and we were so excited to eat. As soon as I walked in the door, the waitress had an attitude with us. She slammed the plates down on our table and didn't take our order for like 20-30 minutes. Never made eye contact with us and acted like dealing with us was the worst thing in the world. She treated the table next to us just as badly, slamming plates left and right. I've had frustrated and overworked waitresses before at other restaurants, but she was just straight up rude. My boyfriend lives in West Chester, and this has been his favorite sushi spot for a while. We've been here many times, and I've never been disappointed. He's in love with the Philly rolls, which are pretty great. I am a fan of the spicy crunchy tuna, and I love trying their house special rolls. We tried the dumplings last night, and those were fantastic as well. Nice and crunchy on the outside with generous portions of pork inside. We also tried desserts galore last night, which we'd never done before! Tempura banana = win. Go for it. The service here is always great. My water glass never gets below half full. They serve you cute little orange slices on top of a tiny orange peel platter with your check each time we've been there as well. And don't forget the beautiful flowers that are drizzled onto every plate with colored syrup. It's the little touches that make this place great. And, of course, the always fresh and delicious sushi! The only down-side is that after you've been here, sushi will never be the same anywhere else. My favorite is the Spicy Tuna Tempura. I always get fried rice or pad thai with the sushi, both are always wonderful. The staff is generally always friendly, every sushi plate is hand decorated--i've seen them do it, and i think its really cool that they put in that extra effort! If you're really looking to treat yourself, their fried ice cream is great. The other desserts always look enticing, but i've tried two and wasn't impressed--save the money and get an extra roll! Ding dong! That is seriously what our waitress said every time she approached the table. And it was adorable. I might be spoiled when I go into the city (NY and Philly), since there are a plethora of great sushi places that I can choose from - even for delivery. However, back at my parents' place in ol' West Chester, the options are rather limited. So, from the limited options here, Fusion Asian has won my heart. I came with a friend, and was a little confused to find the place since I was looking for a sign that read "FUSION ASIAN", not just "FUSION" and then some other words after? But it was no big deal, it's in the West Goshen plaza, if you ever have a hard time finding it. The actual place itself was nice, although the decorations inside were a little confused. Our waitress allowed us to choose our own seats, and immediately offered us wine glasses when she saw that we had brought a bottle. We also asked for sake cups (we also brought sake), and an ice bucket, and she obliged us, almost immediately. We took a while to order - we didn't realize that there was a House Special Roll menu, so we were poring over the special rolls on the regular menu. I was a little disappointed because a majority of them were 'cooked' rolls. Not to worry, the house special menu had a lot more raw fish in their rolls. They have decently priced a la carte items, and sushi/sashimi entrees. The menu says that they carry uni! I have had a hard time finding restaurants that actually have it. I was also delighted to see that they offered South East Asian items on their menu as well - I love Green Curry and perhaps I will be back just for that. The food itself was good. We had the West Chester roll, the West Goshen roll, and the Fisherman roll. The plate came with a beautiful design - we were told it was chocolate sauce, mint sauce (to be honest, it tasted like tooth paste, so I avoided it), and a pineapple sauce. Seriously, so pretty. It was tough for us to finish everything we ordered, so they offered us boxes. They packed in ginger and wasabi, but no soy sauce (which is okay, since of course we have soy sauce at home). They brought out the check with orange pieces and tooth picks. A great fresh ending. Honestly, this place makes me pine for my favorites back in the city, in a good way. Since I am living back at home, at least for now, this place is now my go-to for whenever my sushi craving hits (which is often). I have been a frequent flyer of this restaurant since the day they opened. I don't think there is anything that I have ordered that I didn't like. My daughter and I absolutely love their Fantastic Roll as well as their Rainbow Roll. Their Asian and Japanese dishes are equally as delicious, and the pricing seems to be just right. I have never had a bad experience with the male owner, although the wife is usually there when I go in and she is the sweetest. One strange dish I recently had caused me to remove one star but I do Love this place and so far everything I have had has been excellent. A few days ago I tried their chicken Pad Thai. It tasted great but literally smelled like dog food. So much so, that I'm confident if I was blind folded and asked what it was I would be certain it was dog food haha. Our go to spot for fresh sushi at reasonable prices! If you've been looking for a sushi place in the West Chester area that is actually worth it, I highly recommend Fusion. I love that they have so many different/creative rolls to choose from, and they aren't stingy about their fish either. I also like that they offer combinations for tuna and salmon lovers (the bf loves tuna and I love salmon, so that's perfect for us). If you dine in or order at the restaurant, they have a daily special board for those that like to try something new.
