    Puer teas
    Amy L.

Wanted to try this place because it seemed pretry new. There was about 2 people in front before ordering. And there was a bogo deal. Didnt think itd take long but boy was i wrong. After placing the order, i realized it was only at 578 and we were 616 so it was almost 40 orders in front of us. It took about 40 minutes for our drinks to come out as well. Was not expecting that since it wasnt even packed inside.. i wishes there was wait times cause if i knew itd be that long, i couldve gone to other boba shops nearby. I got the puer with fresh milk and even though it was bogo it eas definitely not worth the wait. Ill come back to try other drinjs when the wait isnt crazy. Lots of parking because its focus plaza. This is near what used to be the fountain, close to daiso and 99 ranch.

We ordered Apple Hongxuan Black Tea and Grapefruit Green Tea. Good balance of apple and black tea in the first drink. Grapefruit Green Tea was also refreshing and had chunks of grapefruit. Tea flavor could be stronger in both despite our ordering less sweet. No issues with service. Big space with enough seating inside. Good place to hang out or get work done.

We were in the area and randomly walked by this place, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered through the kiosk and only had to wait a few minutes for our drinks. The first thing I noticed was that the drinks are pretty pricey compared to many other shops. I tried the apple Hongxuan black tea with coconut jelly, and while it was pretty tasty, it came out to around $8.50. The flavors were good, but nothing especially unique or out of the ordinary. Overall, it was good, but a bit expensive for what you get.

Okay, this new tea shop that opened up by 99 Ranch in San Gabriel has gotten a ton of hype. But I think it's just been okay from my experiences. They had a great grand opening deal where I tried their teas. Came back a few weeks later and - it is still pretty packed. Not only that, but the wait is fairly long. Out of all the drinks, my go to is their grapefruit green tea. A little pricey at $6.99 but you get a ton of real grapefruit chunks at the bottom of the drink. I've tried the 33 King's Oolong Milk Tea $6.29 plus $0.80 for boba. I will have to say that boba was on point, but the tea was quite watery and not too special. I don't know if I'd make this a go-to, but I wouldn't mind grabbing a drink in the future if the place wasn't too packed. Interior is cute but most people are sitting around waiting for their drinks.

I was so excited to try Guiji because I love Taiwanese teas, but I'm not sure if I chose the wrong drink or if I just wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. I got the Apple Hongxuan Black Tea with boba, and it tasted like a really weird apple juice with less tea flavor. I didn't think the flavors blended well at all, and I was very disappointed. My friend got the 33 Kings Oolong Milk Tea, which was more like a roasted oolong. Neither were really what we expected, and I'm not sure if I really enjoyed it. The boba itself was very good though! The line has died down here, so the drinks came out really fast. Prices are average for the area, around $7-8 a drink. Parking is easy in the 99 Ranch lot.

Grapefruit Green Tea was so refreshing and delicious

Ordered UberEats since there is BOGO Grapefruit Green Tea, Honey Oolong Tea, and Black Milk Tea! Got the Grapefruit Green Tea ($8.69) - ordered it with 30% sugar & ice. The tea was very fresh and refreshing. It had lots of bits of real grapefruit pulp. It was slightly bitter but also sweet and sour. I could tell the tea was definitely good quality! I really enjoyed how the drink wasn't too bitter and had just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, the drink was a good deal since it was BOGO and was very refreshing. However, I'd be hesitant to pay full price for it since $9 is slightly too pricey in my opinion.

5/17/2026 This 5-star review is STRICTLY for their grapefruit green tea. I can't speak for the other drinks because every single time I come here, that's all I order. The first time I tried Guiji was in Taipei in October 2024 when I was on a mission to try 3 different boba shops every day. I loved Guiji so much that I came back again the very next day and ordered the exact same drink: grapefruit green tea. So I was pretty excited when I found out they were opening a location in SoCal. Their grapefruit green tea is incredibly rich with plenty of grapefruit pulp. It's naturally sweet enough (with a tolerable citrusy bitterness) even without added sugar. If you're not into sour drinks at all, then 30% or 50% sugar should be perfect. I ordered mine with 0% sugar and added aloe vera as a topping. Aloe vera or agar boba pairs really well with fruity teas and adds just a little extra sweetness. If it's your first time at Guiji and you like fruit teas, definitely try the grapefruit green tea. You won't regret it.

Our 626 area bike group was making a stop here, I heard of its opening but haven't been by yet, till today. It was mildly busy, but very busy when all 12 of us showed up at once. The inside had a nice green interior and a friend told me Guiji loosely translates to something like "turtle who studies". We ordered our teas and everyone was comparing their flavor choices. I got the Apple Hongxuan black tea. It was quenching, especially from our little ride we were doing. Saw some other things that looked interesting so I will come back and try them next time I'm in the area.

I finally had the chance to visit Guiji while I was in the area shopping at 99 Ranch. I tried the Peach Oolong tea and upgraded to a large for an additional $1. I found the price to be quite high, and the drink itself was a bit too sweet for my preference. Next time, I will definitely order it with a lower sweetness level. I do like how they used real peach bits in the tea but not a fan of the peach peel that was part of it.

One of my new favorite tea spots. I saw this as a new place on Yelp and tried it the next time I was craving boba (fairly often lately). I saw the pictures of lines on Yelp but on Friday night, it was fairly empty. I ordered at the kiosk and ordered the jade green tea which I regretted slightly because it seems like their signature tea is the oolong. But I made a mental note try the oolong next time. Drink came out pretty quickly (the workers were very efficient). My jade tea was very good, the tea was not overly brewed and the boba was perfectly cooked. Definitely a highlight of my Friday night. I did end up coming back the next day and it was packed because it was Saturday. But, it took about 15-20 minutes to get drinks and I tried the oolong tea this time. Definitely a must get, the oolong is mild and tasty and perfect with the boba. I think I had a few favorite boba place. A little logistics. It's located inside Tawa plaza with Ranch 99 and other shops. So if the line is long, it's perfect to look around. There's also some stadium seating inside and few benches outside, but not ideal for a longer meetings.

Located in the same shopping plaza as the 99 Ranch market. I have had Guiji in Taiwan, it was ok. This is definitely the largest Guiji I have been to. With plenty of seatings and open spaces. The teas were prepared within timely manner. Nothing really stood out too much, as they dont have any signature drink except the 33 tea. The taste was ok, some teas are kinda bland. I give it a ok. If you want to sit and have a conversation. This isn't a bad place. 4.0 out of 5.

I recently checked out Guiji at the Tawa Gateway plaza, and I can see why it made its way onto "top milk tea spots in LA" lists. My boyfriend and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised--only two people ahead of us, so service was quick and smooth. This spot really leans into authentic, bold tea flavors, which I appreciated. I ordered the 33 King Oolong Milk Tea with pearls and coconut jelly (50% sweetness, 100% tea flavor, 80% ice). The drink itself was spot-on--rich, fragrant, and perfectly balanced--but I will say the toppings felt a bit heavy in quantity. If you're not a huge toppings person, you might want to scale back. My boyfriend tried the peach tea and also the 33 King Oolong but with fresh milk. The peach tea was super refreshing and one of the highlights. The fresh milk version, though, leaned a little too milky for my taste and muted the tea flavor compared to mine. The space itself is really cute--minimalist with a soft green palette, giving off a calm, garden-like vibe. They also had a fun Easter raffle going on when we visited, and I actually won a special tote that won't be reproduced once it sells out, which made the visit even more memorable. Overall, I'd describe this place as classy, simple, and focused on quality. Great tea, clean aesthetic, and efficient service. Definitely worth a visit if you're into more authentic, tea-forward drinks.

Apple Hongxuan Black Tea and Red Pomelo Jade Tea

I haven't been back to this plaza in so long and was so excited to see a Guiji location in the states! I ordered the Apple Hongxuan Black Tea and the Red Pomelo Jade Tea to try, and they were pretty expensive drinks, definitely a more upscale boba. The tea flavor the Apple Hongxuan Black Tea was really good, not too sweet, and the apple flavor was deep and non-artificial. The boba itself was pretty standard, with no strong brown sugar or honey flavoring. The Red Pomelo Jade Tea had less strong of tea flavor, but the citrus flavor was bright and delicious. It is pretty crowded inside, and you order at a kiosk. They have a screen that shows the orders in queue, and I waited about 25 minutes for my drinks.

Nothing made me gasp, nothing made me weep, and definitely nothing made me want to come back for round two. The popping boba? Oh, it popped alright -- right into my teeth with the enthusiasm of a tiny rubber ball that's been left in the sun too long. Hard. Not crispy, not chewy -- just... defiant. Now let's talk about the adventure of getting inside. This place on Valley Blvd has more iron barricades than a medieval fortress. The door facing Valley? Locked. Barred. Rejected. You've got two options: walk all the way around through the parking lot like some kind of peasant making a pilgrimage, or -- and I quote -- simply climb over the fence.
