I really wanted to love this place after seeing so many good reviews, but the matcha latte with sesame cream didn't quite live up to my expectations. The matcha itself was pretty weak and a bit flat, missing that rich, earthy depth you'd hope for, so overall it just fell a little meh. The sesame cream added a nice richness, but didn't bring much of that distinct nutty sesame flavor and mostly just tasted creamy. That said, the space is beautiful. It's clean and minimalist with lots of natural wood, high ceilings, and an open, airy layout. There's plenty of seating, making it a great spot to work, study, or just hang out. I came on a Saturday afternoon and was able to find a seat easily. The ambiance of this place is quite nice. They have free WiFi and the seats are comfortable. There is a WiFi limit of 3 hours and they will kick you off afterwards :( I ordered the strawberry matcha. At a steep price of $10, I had high hopes but was really disappointed. The cream top was lacking sweetness and the strawberry flavor. The matcha was not bold and was overpowered by the milk :/ I'm just glad they don't charge for milk alternatives. There's parking in the free city lot behind the coffee shop - if you drive south on Garfield Ave you'll see signs directing you to the parking lot. My friend and I arrived around 2:30 PM on a Thursday to cafe and were thankfully able to find a table. The large communal table also appeared to be pretty empty. I really enjoyed the ambiance here - the music choices provided solid ambient noise without being overly distracting as we worked. The cashier was friendly and was kind to share recommendations on drinks. There is free WiFi for guests (no password needed) and there are 2 restrooms for guests. You can order non-dairy milk options at no additional cost, however I do feel like the base prices are higher than some other coffee shops. My matcha black sesame (kuragoma) latte was $7.50. Unfortunately, I would not recommend ordering the matcha black sesame latte. The drink comes sweetened, however, the first sip was quite bitter, grassy, and watered down. I decided to mix everything together, and while the nuttiness of the black sesame started to shine through, I still found myself disappointed with the taste. The black sesame paste also had a somewhat gritty texture, which was a bit off-putting. When I first went here, they were out of matcha. I wanted to choose something that only Three Fields offered. I ended up deciding on the Black Sesame latte. After grabbing my drink, I noticed that they do not put lids on top of the drink which was a first for me. However, they do have lids and other condiments near the counter. They also have free guest WiFi and plenty of seats available. The black sesame latte at first glance is a grayish type of drink with some sesame seeds sprinkled on top. After taking a sip, I could taste the sesame in the drink. The sesame was a good balance in the drink and wasn't too overwhelming. The flavors meshed really well together. I came in on a weekday morning. It wasn't that busy. Some tables filled with people working on laptops or playing games but wasn't busy when I went in. The service was decent and the staff were friendly. Ordered a matcha latte with almond milk and a pistachio croissant. If you like a sweet pastry, then the pistachio croissant isn't a bad choice. They cut it up and filled with a bit of a cream inside. The matcha latte here is probably the clumpiest and grittiest I've ever had. My cousin introduced me to this spot since it's one of her favorite matcha places in the SGV area and I can totally see why. I ordered a regular matcha latte with oat milk and it was excellent. Perfect balance of smooth, earthy, and creamy. I got it sweetened with agave and it was exactly how I like it. I also tried my cousins go to drink, the double matcha, which had a strong matcha flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. Not overpowering at all. I discovered Three Fields Coffee through the running community. They have a run club, started by a staff member, John. I have ran with the club a few times. They offer a number of amazing coffee, tea and matcha choices. It's a great place to study or get work done- lots of outlets and seating. The wifi does prompt to limit stay for 2 hours. When I went, it was full house and had to wait about 10 minutes before someone left. This was on a late Saturday afternoon. I had their double matcha which really gave me the caffeine needed to go over my study notes. Parking is in the back of the store - there is a free parking structure. Good matcha lattes. I tried the regular and the strawberry, and thought the depth of earthiness was adequate without tasting too thick. I tried their black sesame latte too, but wouldn't get this again. First, it had a really thick cream top that required a lot of mixing, and most of the sesame flavor was in the cream and not so much the latte itself. I really love black sesame flavor, and would have preferred this more if it was less creamy in texture and more sesame in taste. As far as their pastry offerings go, I really liked their guava cheese croissant. It was crunchy and flaky and the filling inside had a nice balance of tasting sweet and salty. I tried the kouign amann too, but wasn't a fan of the apple sauce filling inside, and it was too sticky on the outside and dry on the inside. Maybe their coffee is much better than their matcha? I only ordered matcha and 1 pastry.. everything was sadly mediocre. Kurogoma Matcha -was quite small. I believe it may have been smaller than 12 ounces. Height of cup is only 3.5 inches and diameter of top of cup was about 3 inches. I don't think it's worth $7.50, I wasn't told that that it would be smaller than their other matcha drinks either. Not sure if I'm suppose to request for sweetness but it came out with unsweetened. I added sugar myself when I got home. Black sesame really shines through but not worth the price tag. Double Matcha -was as expected but not enough matcha taste.. pretty watered down in my opinion. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and agave (no charge for milk + sweetener!). Matchaful's Hikari is one of my favorites, so the matcha here was very yummy for me! I'm hoping the drinks experience we had was a one-off, because it was quite different from the other reviews I was reading about this place. The location itself is bright and airy, with a section for patrons to play communal board games. There is seating and space for people to work on their laptops, and the staff was communicative and friendly. I ordered an Iced Matcha Latte, and my husband got a regular Latte. My latte was VERY watered down, with almost a light green color--it tasted like iced milk. My husband's latte had a sour taste to it, but it may be that the beans that were used have notes that we don't particularly favor. I had a good experience at Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra). The Iced Hojicha Latte ($7.50 - Whole Milk - w/ Strawberry Purée) is clean, fresh, and refreshing. I sipped happily. (Important Note: Cash is not accepted. This is a cashless facility.) I arrived at Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra) on Tuesday (around 12:47PM). Parking is easy if familiar with the area. This business is nestled between two parking structures. There's the First Street Parking Facility (behind business) and the large Mosaic Parking Structure (across street). Both parking structures state "4 Hour Parking - 8AM to 5PM." I selected the Mosaic Parking Structure which was a brisk three minute walk. Staff is professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Staff (receipt says Tonya) happily answered all my questions and gave informative recommendations. My drink took three minutes and three seconds. Fairly fast. As mentioned, I appreciated the Iced Hojicha Latte ($7.50 - Whole Milk - w/ Strawberry Purée). The caffeine was very mellow. Strangely enough, it took about 20 minutes before an uplifting perk of energy floated by. The flavors were not bold; rather, there's a thoughtful faint, lingering flavor. The initial sip is strawberry milk. After thoroughly mixing the drink, the main flavor was mostly strawberry milk. Fortunately, this time, the underlying essence of Hojicha shyly wriggled its head through. The Hojicha's roasted, woody flavor profile lingered like a ghost under a downpour of milk. Still, I appreciated the real bits of strawberries in the puree. Regarding ambiance, Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra) bordered between hipster and ugly. The long cushion seating is worn-down with unsightly dark stains. The floors look beat up and worn down. And the exterior is very plain; its chipped, darkened paint makes the location appear abandoned. Shockingly, this small business is extremely busy! Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra) is filled with college students. There's a few electrical sockets hidden between those squishy, plush cushions' crevices. There's also a couple hidden electrical sockets embedded on the side of the long table. Thankfully, there's many tables and seats. When I'd arrived, Staff told me that their internet was not currently working. However, Staff explained that there's usually internet for customers; customers would get the internet information by scanning a QR Code on the counter. There's also a gender neutral restroom (...mysteriously with no sign) in the back. In addition, the audio's stereo system is fairly loud and crystal clear. I appreciated the quality acoustics as it played smooth music. There's also a small game corner on the cabinet. Some games include chess, dominoes, Chinese checkers, and others. The location is also dog friendly since there's a pet water bowl with treats near the entrance. Overall, I had a good experience at Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra). The drink has thoughtful flavors; staff is friendly; and this location offers a decent environment to quietly study/work. 4.5 out of 5 read more

Super cute place to study or do work with a delicious strawberry matcha! I was in the area and needed a pick-me up and stumbled upon Three Field Coffee. It's located on Main Street, diagonal from the movie theater and next to Pepper Lunch. There's a large parking lot with multiple floors in the back of the coffee shop. I came on a Friday afternoon and it was fairly easy to find parking. There's a back entrance to the coffee shop once you exit from the parking structure. The shop is relatively big with lots of tables and chairs to comfortably sit to enjoy your coffee, study/work, or catch up with friends. There's a menu posted on the wall behind the register that displays their drink options. I did see on Yelp that they offered an aesthetic strawberry matcha and was able to find a smaller menu option in front of their register. I did notice that they offer a few pastries in a transparent glass next to the cashier! I unfortunately couldn't give them a try but they do look delicious! I might be biased but the music that they were playing were remixes of pop songs and I would be okay if I forgot my headphones and needed to do work. Drink: Strawberry Matcha Latte (9/10): This has to be the more aesthetically pleasing drink I've ever gotten! Mixing it together was so sad but the flavors made up for it. This matcha was so smooth with such strong matcha flavor in it. I opted for whole milk but I know that they have other milk options available. Looking at the layers together was so pretty because the matcha layer was a lot larger than the milk which is rare for me to find. They add freeze dried strawberries on top with a (strawberry?) cold foam on top. There's also strawberry puree lined on the bottom of the cup. I kinda wish that the strawberry flavor was more prominent but I might be biased since I love strawberries. I did also think that it was more on the expensive side since it was $8 but the amount of ceremonial matcha they had definitely helped justify the price. Overall, I was really happy with the matcha here! I definitely will be coming back to try their other drink options and potentially spend a couple hours here to do work/study for tests. WOW! I was truly impressed by this place. From the aesthetics to the actual drink and the service. I came here after seeing them on yelp and I was blown away. The interior is so cute and clean. Three Fields Coffee is located in the Main Street area of Alhambra. There's limited street parking. I parked in a nearby plaza and walked over. This is a great place to grab a drink and work/study. There's plenty of individual tables and seats near an outlet. Internet is free to use. However, they do limit the WiFi use to only 3 hours. The drink selections range from lemonade to coffee to matcha drinks. I got the sparkling coconut yuzu lemonade. The presentation was beautiful - it came with coconut shavings, foam, and a dried citrus round on top. The drink itself didn't have much yuzu or coconut flavor. If I could put a name to it, the drink tasted like healthy water. I think I'll try another drink next time. The staff is super friendly and quick at serving. I thought the ambiance was chill, and it seemed like a popular place to study/work since most of the indoor seats were already taken. I ordered the Double Matcha with almond milk ($8.00) for to-go. Overall, the drink was creamy, earthy, pretty, and sweet. The matcha was well-blended, and the foam was a nice touch. I'd order the Double Matcha again! First time coming here back in September, it was super crowded since everyone was there studying or hanging out. It gives a very lively atmosphere. We got a hojicha latte and a matcha latte that time. It was pretty good. Although, the matcha did tasted a little grainy for my liking. This time, I came with friends and they both got a Hojicha Latte and I got the Black Sesame. My friends both liked their Hojicha. I let them try my Sesame and they like it more than their drink. After taking a sip, I also think the sesame tasted better than their Hojicha and matcha. If sesame isn't your thing, then I'd recommend the other drinks. Not too sweet and had a nice strawberry puree. 10/10 for service and friendly baristas :) The ambiance is pretty chill and it can get a bit crowded, but it's a pretty good study space. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because the of the strong urine smell which made it difficult to eat there. They have a small dog area which is at the entrance and everytime the door opened and closed, the smell was awfully strong. The coffee shop is really clean and I really like the aesthetics. They have plenty of seats available. However, service needs improvement. The cashier kept yawning as I gave my order and he was so unfriendly. I ordered a pour over coffee, a strawberry matcha latte, and a pistachio croissant. I didn't like the tone or the way he took my order. I asked for a pour over coffee, he responds with "anything else?" I ask for the strawberry matcha, he again responds with "anything else?" I had to ask for modifications myself and at the end, he didn't even confirm my order and just walked away after telling me my total. I got my croissant first and they did not ask if I wanted it warmed up. So I had to get into line to ask if they can warm it up for me. They also ended up burning the top of my croissant. The croissant was still delicious though. It was a perfect mix of sweet and slightly salty from the pistachio. They also forgot to make my strawberry matcha. I watched people who came in after me get their orders when I finally asked when my matcha will be ready and the cashier went O.O and apologized because he thought the other barista was going to make the drink. Three Fields Cafe has hands down some of the best matcha I've had truly award-worthy. The matcha itself is rich, smooth, and high quality, with that deep, authentic flavor you don't find everywhere. Service was a little bit slow since there was only one worker at the time I came. But ambiance is very peaceful and quiet so you could study here. I also tried the sesame matcha latte, which wasn't my personal favorite, but that's more a taste preference. It's definitely on the less-sweet side and very earthy, so if you enjoy a more natural, robust matcha flavor, you'll probably love it. If you're looking for a chill place to work, meet up with friends or even grab some coffee after a run Three Fields is the place to go. I come here occasionally on Wednesday mornings after I run with their run club. They meet at 715am and run a 5k route to get the day started. After the run we stay for a bit and drink some coffee. I have tried a number of drinks on their menu and you are able to customize your drink as well. My go to would be their matcha drinks or a latte when I want something plain and simple. The coffee is strong and aromatic and gets me through the day. I would recommend the Hojicha latte with sea salt cream top and macadamia milk. The Hojicha flavor is earthy and the drink is not too sweet. Their double matcha cold brews are great as well. Service is quick and you'll have your drink within 10 mins. There is a structure in the back and if you're lucky you'll get street parking in front as well. They are dog friendly so feel free to stop on by when you walk your doggo. read more

DRINK: i've gotten the black sesame latte a couple times because i enjoy the taste of black sesame, but there's really no taste of coffee in the drink so it kinda just tastes like milk with black sesame powder. the seasonal biscoff latte has a lot more of the rich espresso flavor. i do like that they don't charge for alt milk though AMBIANCE: nice spot to study, clean and the AC is nice. seems that they have free wifi read more
