    Iced latte

I had a great experience at Browned! Firstly, parking was super easy to find (I found street parking nearby). Browned is tucked away in an apartment complex area but if you walk to where the traffic light intersection is, you'll see the entrance to the plaza where it's located. I got a butter croissant and iced latte. The really kind lady who helped me suggested I warm the croissant up before eating it, and that was definitely the way to go! I did 350 degrees for about 6 minutes and when I gave it time to cool down and bit into the croissant, I was greeted with a beautiful CRUNCH in a delightful way. The iced latte was not bad, would get again. The design and decor of the space is beautiful and so clean and sleek and bright. Definitely recommend checking this place out :)

6/7/2026 BLACK TRUFFLE MUSHROOM DANISH The danish croissant had beautiful laminated, buttery, crispy layers. The béchamel was a bit clunky in texture. Good amount of black truffle flavor. Mushrooms weren't overly mushy and good flavor and texture. Gruyère cheese brought a lovely salty, cheesy flavor. Overall, okay, but not great. Arugula wilts and it was tough to eat after I reheated it in the toaster oven. I was advised to reheat the danish in the toaster oven before consuming, which I did. DUBAI PISTACHIO CHOCOLATE CROISSANT Rich and very pistachio-forward flavor! This was done well! Tasted like dubai chocolate in croissant form. However, the croissant was not as crispy and was on the softer side. Crispy kataifi on top brought that crispy texture. Savory unsweetened pistachio custard. The sweetness came from the chocolate drizzle over the croissant and the kataifi. Overall, enjoyed it! CHOCOLATE PECAN PRESSED CROISSANT Crispy, crunchy, flaky, buttery, caramelized layers! It does remind you of a flattened more crispier, buttery palmier and maybe even a mille feuille! The plain pressed croissant tasted like caramelized sugar with a buttery flakiness from the croissant. The chocolate pecan side was delicious with dark chocolate and crunchy pecans on top of that buttery, flaky, crispy pressed croissant! Recommend! 8 PCS ASSORTED MINI CHOUX SET You choose what flavors you want. I chose the following. Black Sesame Hoijicha - Strong hojicha flavor right off the bat! I barely taste the black sesame, except when you eat the black sesame paste at the top of the cream puff. When you bite into the whole cream puff, you only get the hojicha flavor. Very good and if you're a hojicha lover, you won't regret getting this! Taro Salted Egg Yolk - A new flavor that was added recently. You can taste the taro on top and the salted egg yolk on the bottom when eaten separately. But when eaten together, depending on where your tongue hits, you get more taro or salted yolk. Choux pastry is crunchy. This was delicious and definitely a repeat order too! I asked the owner and they will continue with this new flavor for now. They did not have the Koyamaen Matcha, when I purchased it via HotPlate. They ran out of it when I went to pick-up at the bakery, so they offered a refund or to replace with another mini choux. They brought back the Maple Pecan with Dark Chocolate Coating as a temporary replacement for the Koyamaen Matcha. But I opted for another Taro Salted Egg Yolk. Classic 64% Chocolate, Lemon Delight, Signature Biscoff Crunch were my other mini choux orders. All consistently delicious and done well. Please see my previous review on these flavors. RASPBERRY, ROSE & LYCHEE CROIFFIN This new edition was not part of Hotplate. I had to order it separately in-store. But wow, this was absolutely delightful! The cream had a pink color with swirls of raspberry compote and there were pieces of real lychee inside! The rose flavor was not overpowering, but complemented both the raspberry cream. The croiffin was flaky, crispy and buttery! This is my new favorite, very good and well done! I will continue to order this as long as it is available! JAPANESE BLACK SESAME CREAM TOP Love all things black sesame. So had to order this! This took a bit of wait time, much longer than expected. This was a simple latte style iced coffee with black sesame cream top. You can taste the coffee, but there was also milk in it, so it was a milkier coffee. Once you mix the black sesame cream top, all you can taste is the black sesame. So yes, it is a strong black sesame flavor in this drink. It was good, but not great to order for the second time. ONLINE ORDER Ordered via Hotplate.com. This has been the easiest way to order and pick-up. Super easy and not fussy at all! Once you order once via Hotplate.com, they give you the option for drop alerts via text when Browned goes live for future orders. You can also order directly via website as well. Make sure you have your confirmation email and order number ready for pick-up. CUSTOMER SERVICE Excellent service! They forgot to give me part of my online order and immediately called me and texted me making sure I won't leave without it! The owner and patisserie chef apologized, yet so relieved I did not leave without my order. She was so sweet and kind! I chatted with her as she was packing up my order. INDOOR + OUTDOOR SEATING AVAILABLE No seats for large groups. PARKING Free parking is available at The One Residential in basement P1. You can see Browned straight ahead as you arrive from the parking elevator. Personally, I recommend street parking. If you arrive before noon, there is free street parking right outside of The One Residential. It is much easier to drive out and also the parking garage is very small, dark and very narrow to drive through.

    Box of 6 cream puffs

I've visited Browned a few times over the years, mostly for their Macau-style cream puffs, but this time I finally branched out and tried more of the menu. The biggest surprise was the Kimchi Croissant, which has honestly become my favorite pastry in the SGV. The croissant was flaky and buttery, with bacon, a soft jammy egg yolk, and just enough kimchi to add a little spice and acidity without overpowering everything else. It's a combination I wasn't sure would work, but it really does. I also had one of their signature cream puffs, and it's easy to see why they're known for them. They offer some interesting flavors like Biscoff Crunch, Taro Salted Egg Yolk, and black sesame hojicha which are a nice change from the usual vanilla and chocolate options. For drinks, I tried the Pistachio Cloud Top Matcha and the Black Sesame Cloud Top. Both were well balanced and not overly sweet. The pistachio matcha was my favorite of the two. The staff were friendly and patient, even though there was a steady flow of customers and plenty of people taking their time deciding what to order. One thing to keep in mind is that they do sell out of popular items fairly early, so if you have something specific in mind, it's worth going earlier in the day. Overall, Browned is a solid bakery with creative pastries, good drinks, and friendly service. It's easy to see why it's become such a popular spot in San Gabriel.

Anytime I'm back in the area, I want to try a new bakery. Browned, a new coffee/pastry spot in the heart of San Gabriel. The pastries won me over more than the coffee. Known for their cream puffs, they all looked great making it hard to choose. Personal favorite was the lemon curd, but the Biscoff and Black Sesame were also crowd favorites. The Pistachio cream top coffee was good but was hoping for it to be a little sweeter. Don't know if we caught them on an off day, but it was a long wait. They were working on a big order and only two people on staff. Small seating both indoors and outdoors so recommendation is to take it to go. Tip: Not visible from the street so best to park in the garage and then walk around.

Incredible croissants, but slower service in this small bakery. The black truffle mushroom danish was exceptional. We came back twice for this specifically. Some imaginative combinations like kimchi bacon garlic roll continue to impress us. For once, the cream puffs tasted exactly as advertised. The black sesame hojicha flavor was bold. Taro salted egg yolk cream was real taro and you can feel the mealy, starchy texture. The tamest flavor was the vanilla bean, and I would say that was most traditional as well. The drinks were okay, felt like a sale of convenience rather than an area of focus. The espresso was more sour than I'm used to, and closer to Korean coffee shops. The pastries are clearly the star of the show of this operation. Located in the apartment building, unclear if parking is free since we usually just street park for free.

I have been trying to check this place out for a while, and finally had the chance to. It's a bit hidden from the street but once you park in the garage, you take the elevator up, and upon stepping out it's right in sight. It's such a cute little shop and I enjoyed how easy and simple their menu was. I had their maple pecan with chocolate coating cream puff (100/10)! It wasn't too sweet and it paired very well with their hazelnut praline latte which was also 10/10! Everything was well balanced in sweetness and I liked the nutty flavor of the latte.

Kept wanting to try this bakery and everytime I had time it was on a day they were closed! Finally came on an open day but towards the end of the day so selections were slim. I really wanted to try the croissant cookie dipped in chocolate but they ran out. So I settled for the regular one with nothing. It was pretty much a pressed croissant nothing special that stood out. They make the same thing at Disneyland but with a churro coating and a chocolate filled one. But anyways, what stood out were them cream puffs. At 6 for $30 they better be good! And they were! So decadent and the fillings were rich and luscious! The cream puff shell was like a cookie, crispy. Super delicious, fun flavors, would highly recommend. Just wish they were a tiny bit bigger, cmon some of us including me big backing so for the size to be so smol ain't enough lol. Husband also ordered this yuzu drink and it was nothing special, I would skip the drink and get and extra cream puff instead Will definitely come back to try more pastries

Love this bakery so much. The black truffle mushroom danish is a must! There are many favors of cream puff that you can choose. I like the taro, dark chocolate, and the ding long favors. The staff and owner are super nice and great place to get bakery. The bakery is pretty quiet and able to sit and talk with a friend in the bakery.

Neat and clean coffee and crème puff shop. The crème puffs were surprisingly good--comparable to a Japanese dessert place I used to go to near Torrance, but with more flavor options. Service was smooth, no wait, and there's plenty of parking in the plaza. Flavors I tried include oolong, Biscoff, vanilla, matcha, lemon, blueberry, dark chocolate, and maple pecan. If I had to pick three, I'd go with oolong, matcha, and the signature Biscoff. I got 8 crème puffs for $30. These aren't your typical Beard Papa-style puffs; they're more delicate and refined. I'm giving them 5 stars because I think these are the best crème puffs I've had in the SGV area. I hope they stick around! The sesame crème top was decent, but not a must-order for me. Also, check their hours since they're not open every day.

Cute lil' mini choux bakery / cafe in a quiet corner under an apartment complex ~ I actually came here to try the Kimchi Bacon Garlic Roll W / Runny Egg Yolk and the Black Truffle Mushroom Danish, but both were out of stock when I got there about an hour before closing. My heart was broken so I just got a couple minis instead. They were running low, but I was able to try the Taro Salted Egg & Taiwanese Oolong Tea. I actually enjoyed the Taro Salted Egg because the cream inside the pastry felt more substantial in comparison to the Taiwanese Oolong Tea option. The Oolong flavor was really not very sweet at all, and was filled with something similar to a whipped cream which felt a little too airy and plain to me. The Taro Egg was both savory and sweet, I recommend you try this one if you're into anything salted egg ~ Both mini choux had a nice crust so the textures were enjoyable. Anyway, the area outside the cafe is so cute, I plan to return to Browned soon just so I can sit there and enjoy the savory baked goods I previously mentioned. I probably need to get there in the early morning though I suppose...

Browned is a hidden bakery gem tucked inside the retail area of the One apartments in San Gabriel. It's not visible from the street so keep an eye out. They are known for their signature crispy creme puffs. The shells have that perfect crunch on the outside while the fillings are light and not overly sweet. They offer Asian inspired flavors such as matcha and oolong tea, but my favorite was their signature Bischoff crunch. The creme puffs are little on the pricier end compared to the size, but the unique flavors make it worthwhile. If you visit towards the end of the day, their selection might be limited as they don't replenish their stock. Plan on going early to get a better selection of pastries.

5 assorted flavors (took a bite of the matcha)

So turns out this is very close to a friend's house and we were able to walk here (along with various other establishments on Valley). Its a cute, newer bakery that really is just intended for a buy and go with some outdoor seating space. They have an assortment of pastries and coffees and are known for their cream puffs. We got there kind of late in the afternoon so various flavors were sold out but got one of each of the remaining flavors (vanilla, dark chocolate, maple cream, matcha, and biscoff). I enjoyed every one of them and thought they had a really nice balance of flavors and sweetness. None were overly sweet and the flavors were all subtley pronounced, which sounds like a paradox but best way I can think to describe it. The choux pastry was well done with a nicely textured crackelin top. The cream filling held up nicely (once returned to the fridge for a bit as we were walking around for an hour or so after getting them). The price seems a bit steep at ~$4 each but the quality and execution is there for me and also, we're in LA so ehh. This was a great new stop for me and I'm already considering returning so I can try more pastries and get the oolong cream puff. Definitely recommend for folks wanting a little treat for themselves or to share with others.

Browned is definitely one of the best pastry shop in town. I highly recommend their cream puff as everything taste great. The service was excellent and I enjoy the outdoor seating where you can have coffee and pastry on site. My favorite flavor cream puff is macha as it's not too sweet. I am very looking forward to the next visit soon.

Its a small shop on Main in Alhambra and there's a lot in the back as well as street parking. It's a brightly lit, pick up and go type place though there are a couple tables out front. The baked goods look really cute and enticing and I ended up going for a mystery box since I wasn't after a specific cake and the mystery aspect seemed appealing. I also got 6 egg tarts, which were a great price at $1 each. The baked goods/sweets looked better than they tasted flr me. The egg tarts had a texture that was a bit off putting for myself, it was more of a steamed egg texture than a silky custardy filling. Flavorwise, they were ok though. The mystery box was fun and I got an apple cake, peach cake, and a panda cake. Now the mystery box is day old cakes so keeping that in mind, they are like cream based "cakes" and are essentially cream covered gels/jellies of some sort. The flavor and textures were good, very light cream with strong fruit flavors (the panda was also a peach flavor, I think). As a set of the mystery box price, I think the cakes are fun to try but I wouldn't, personally, pay those prices for essentially shaped cream. I'm glad I tried a new spot but ultimately don't think it was super impressive and found most of their desserts and baked items to be average, or a little less so as for the egg tarts.

And there's a city public parking lot about a two minute walk away. Staff is very friendly, professional, and welcoming. Staff maintained a bright smile throughout my visit. Staff immediately helped me. Customers can order at the self-service kiosk or counter; however, the kiosk felt very dated & the prices on the kiosk felt less transparent. I recommend just ordering at the counter. There's no penalty for using card at this donut establishment. As mentioned, I love the Tiramisu Donut ($4.95). It's not too sweet; rather, it all felt balanced. However, this is a VERY messy donut; I recommend eating this donut with a fork and knife. The powder fall everywhere, and your clothes can quickly get stained with chocolate powder. Still, it's a delicious pastry. On ambiance, Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel) is comfortable. Everything before this was fine, we drink, eat, talk for a good amount of time. Until one of my friend decided to get this cake pop, ate it half way and saw mold in it. We asked the cashier and we did got our money back. And hey, accidents happens. But the thing is this is not the first time this happen to me. My sister got a Taro Cake here before (~5,6 months before) and it was super sour. We thought it was the way it is but she try it a different day and the taste was completely different. What that means? The 1st cake already expired and they have 0 idea about it. The services here are really depends on who it is. Some of them will talk to you like they just want u to leave asap but some are really sweet and kind. I really love this place and I hope they will improve it so no one will get food poisoining. Peace.

There's a small parking lot in the back, but spaces can be hard to find and I ended up having to park on the street the first time I went. (FYI - they are going to open a Goomo tea shop on the corner in the same space!) D'ange has so many fun flavors of buns. I really liked the taro with mochi one. The only thing about the buns is that the fillings tend to be only on one side of the bun, so there are been times as I'm biting into the bun, I'm not getting any filling until the last couple bites. They even sell cookies and all different flavors of toast that would make some yummy brick toast desserts! And if you need a whole cake, they have them in the case ready to go too! The buns I got were great, as were the Portuguese egg tarts. They even sold Chinese tamales at my last visit, so I picked one up too. I don't know many places that sell these, and I used to eat them all the time when my grandma made them years ago, but now that no one in my family knows how to make them, it's a special treat if I can find it. They have ones with meat (with or without peanuts), and some with just the mung bean. They must be really know for this because 2 other parties ahead of me were buying tons of the tamales!

TGTG is an app that allows businesses to sell their leftover or flawed goods for a discounted price in a bundle of their choice. So you don't know what you get, BUT it reduces food waste (#sustainability) while being easier on your wallet. You pay a price they name and they give you the value they listed. The owner (I presume) handed us a prepackaged brown bag the moment we got there. It wasn't busy at all so the whole transaction was under 5 minutes. It's a mom & pop Asian bakery that's spacious and warm. Our surprise bag contained 7 mini breads: black sesame mochi, red sesame mochi, taro bun with filling, hot dog cheese bread, buo luo bao, ham + cheese bun, and another bread I couldn't quite identify. This is $21 value for $6.99 is what we paid. After heating them up, they tasted almost like fresh so we can't complain. However, I would say these days $3 would get you bigger buns at other similar bakeries, but their fillings were very generous, so it's hard to say. Parking has spots designated to the bakery so look out for the signs.

Price ranged from $2.75-$3.75 per bread. Small and cozy interior. Very warm for some reason but we didn't mind since it's winter. It was pretty quiet. I think folks tend to go to bakeries earlier in the day for more selection and fresher bread. They have a good mix of classic and interesting new breads like rose bread (not depicted), but a lot of them were sold out. We ate the bread the next day and it still tasted very fresh. My favorite was the matcha bread with yogurt filling. The taro bun had real bits of taro in the center. Wish there was a little more though. All the breads were good in flavor, not too salty and or sweet. They also have some deals when you buy a certain amount of certain items. Shared parking lot since it's situated in a plaza.

The store is not that big and feels like a small mop and pop type establishment. The staff seem a little new and had a lot of questions for the owner. I think I'll just purchase some small things for now, as it seems there is a limited supply of most pastries.

I cannot begin to express how pleased I am with my experience here…read more I have called around to numerous bakeries and this was the only one that was within our budget! I think it's ridiculous other stores are charging $125+ for a 6 inch gender reveal cake (no decorations/ no writing). Is it because it's a gender reveal cake with either pink or blue frosting so they have to hike up the ridiculous prices?! Look no further everyone!! Get all your baked goods and beautifully made cakes here! Other places also want a week's notice before pick up. This spot is only 1 day!! I spoke to the owner over the phone and gave him the details of what my vision was for the cake. He made my vision come true, but even better than I thought it would be! And because you order the cake one day ahead, you can taste how moist and fresh the cake actually is! Versus if you were to order a week in advance anywhere else, the cake would be dry and brittle!! I cannot stress enough how happy I am with my experience here. From my inquiry over the phone up until pick up. I am very very pleased and will continue to come to this establishment. They truly deserve all the praise. THANK YOU for an amazing experience that my hubby and I will never forget!

Their cakes are the classic Chinese bakery style, light sponge cake layered with fruit and whipped cream. They make custom cakes in all different sizes and I think the pricing is pretty reasonable for what you get. Best of all, the cakes are fresh and not overly sweet, which is exactly how I like them. This time I ordered a quarter sheet chocolate cake with chocolate cream. It was really good, rich enough to taste like chocolate but not so sweet that it became overwhelming. Everyone at the party seemed to enjoy it. They also open at 8am which makes pickup convenient if you need a cake for an early event. One little bonus: if you pay cash, there's usually a small discount. Let's just say Uncle Sam might not be getting invited to that party. Overall, a reliable bakery that I've been coming back to for years.
