    Afternoon tea
    Catherine L.

Food and drink : For Afternoon Tea service... You were seated and told that one side of the tea menu was from mainland China and the other side was Taiwan. She left a hand written post it note of suggested steep time for each cup and after she poured the first cup, we never saw her again. Though the selection of traditional teas were good, 319 king had strong roast flavor and aromatic with silky mouth feel, but was this service worth $80 including tip? Every item on the afternoon tea service menu looked to be snacks out of packages. Snacks you could get at 99ranch Or from the freezer section of Trader Joe's. Only savory items were a couple of stewed peanuts and 2 tiny cubes of seasoned tofu. Possibly only things that looked made in house was the osmanthus jelly and the "custard"toast. Aesthetically pleasing and relaxing atmosphere but I think very much not worth it. I supposed it was a nice place to relax and chat quietly with friends without interruption but keep in mind the Afternoon Tea service has time limit of 2 hrs. But I would not recommend the afternoon tea service, with what they have to offer, I would leave before the 2 hrs. is up to find something worth snacking on.

Wanted some dessert after dinner. This establishment is on the 2nd floor right above Mikiya. Super busy strip mall, even on a tuesday evening. You know what wasent busy? This place. Our group was the only one in here the entire time we were there. You can reserve one of their private rooms for a tea ceremony or afternoon tea sampling. But the problem with this place is that theres no where to sit (as all the tables are reserved) for those who are just ordering at the counter. So we were relegated to just walking around aimlessly in the front of the store looking at things, while eating our soft serve. We almost felt like we were in the way or just loitering. All their tables were reserved for tea tasting. Problem was, no one was there for that. So why not open the tables up to those who were actually there so we could sit down? Yes theres a lot of interesting teas and tea paraphernalia that they sell here. Good for a tea connoisseur or an avid tea drinker. But for me, everything seemed overpriced. We ordered there chaffagato as well as 2 matcha icecream soft serves. On certain days, like a tuesday, they have a buy one get one half off offer on their soft serve. The orders do come out quickly. Their chaffagato is their 913 kings oolong with a shot of espresso. It is creamy and good. Taste the bitterness od the tea, then that real bitterness of the espresso. But it was good. Their matcha soft serve is bitter as well. They have other drinks available for order also. Such as milk teas, coffees, iced teas and their signature teas. For those who really enjoy traditional teas this is would be a nice experience. But for me (someone looking for a dessert or a sweet treat), its gonna be a hard pass. I do love the decor and all the teas and tea things they sell. But its just not for me.

When we first came in we were given a sample of one of their teas. Once you order your drink, you go to the back and wait as that is where the drinks come out. there are chairs. The milk tea here taste so healthy. But i guess its a good thing. You can taste the 3 ingredients they add to the drink. The only bad thing was 1 of the teas ran out and it wouldve taken 30 minutes to brew up more. You can also buy from their tea selection and i suppose the many types of pots and cups then have for the tea. They have pretty cute ones. It looks like they also do afternoon tea which is a cute event with friends since you might get a private room.

My friend saw this afternoon tea option and it was located in the Temple City and named Chaffee so we decided to check it out. It is located in the same plaza that has many tasty food options and also a beauty store on the bottom. This place is located on the second floor and it has a super cute interior. The place is quiet and also very Asian oriented. We sat down on these traditional Chinese chairs that are made with wood and look handcrafted. We were sitting in a nice spot and then our tea service started. Each person gets to decide which tea they would like to have and there is a list. I picked a black tea that was full of boldness. Then came the dessert and cakes. It was super cute and overall each one was a different taste and flavor! I like the setup of it and it was very nicely displayed. Overall we both had a fun time here and it was good to be able to catch up with your friends here! Perfect spot to do so.

The afternoon tea service at Chaffee isn't bad, but for its price, it's very disappointing. This service is priced at $65 per person, and with tax and tip, will run you closer to $80. Although the snacks are plentiful and presented nicely, their quality seemed like the treats were taken from packaging and simply placed on the tray. I did like some items like the custard taiyaki, but some items such as the spicy peanuts and spicy bean curd were not very good at all. The bean curd in particular was hard and not palatable. The tea selection was good. Each member of your party gets to choose their own tea. I chose the pearl jasmine oolong for myself, but my favorite was the Bai Hao Oolong (Oriental Beauty). The seating area is pretty, and you'll get some nice pictures, but I believe this tea service is overpriced as none of the tea accompaniments felt freshly made.

Although I occasionally come to this Temple City plaza, I never took notice of the businesses on the second floor. It was a rainy afternoon when I met up for some tea here. I ordered a hot 913 King's Oolong, an aromatic and invigorating flavor. We sat in the properly lit tea-drinking area, surrounded by ornate decoration and wooden furniture. As others have found, the service here is attentive and understated. I also wanted to try their Tie Guan Ying soft serve, but alas! they were out, so I went with their 913 King's Oolong flavor. Double the oolong! 1826 if you will. I came back on a separate visit to see if their Tie Guan Ying soft serve was available, and luckily it was. The to-go cup seemed fairly small portion-wise, but the flavor was incredibly rich. Would come back for some more during warmer weather.

I forgot which tea I got, it was one of the oolong milk teas and I enjoyed it. The star of the show tho is the oolong tea soft serve!!! Had I not eaten dessert already, I would have opted for that. Strong tea flavor and creamy without iciness! I also enjoyed the oolong milk tea. Service was fine when attentive, but it's also a little hard to get their service cuz there was one lady working the front and she'd help out guests and talk to them about the tea. I didn't wanna interrupt her spiel so I had to wait a bit. Gorgeous spot, wish it was closer to home tho.

5/5: for amazing tea and fancy vibes It took me a second to getting to writing this review, partly because I wanted to do it justice but also partly because I was admittedly gatekeeping my favorite tea spot from becoming over crowded. But considering I've been frequenting this spot over the past 2-3 months, it is about time I've written a review! Chaffee is located on the second floor of the "Floating Kettle" plaza on Las Tunas and Rosemead. When you walk in, you're greeted with many loose leaf teas, tea adjacent ceramics that range from tea sets and other items, and some Taiwanese and Chinese afternoon tea snacks available for purchase. The menu is simple as they focus on bringing you quality tea brewed with real tea leaves and organic milk and non dairy milk alternatives. I usually opt for just pure tea made less sweet because I enjoy the real tea flavors. If you don't like what's on the menu, you can also select any tea from the store to be brewed. Their chrysanthemum is quite good, but as of Jan 2026 they are out of stock! Aside from their teas, they also have a full afternoon tea set which I believe has a minimum of 2 people to order. There's also special tea rooms for folks who reserve the afternoon tea, so it's a great place to bring guests you want to impress, and reminds me of the afternoon tea service spots in Taiwan. They also have some of the best tea soft serves around, with my favorite being their oolong flavor, but they have matcha as well. The store itself is ornately decorated, with high ceilings, lots of lights, and heavy emphasis on Taiwanese and Chinese culture. There's also a small room full of fancy displays of clay, ceramic, and glass tea sets that are also available for purchase. All their staff and their owner are very friendly and have only made me feel welcome the many times I've frequented the store. Parking is plentiful but can be a struggle at peak hours. Still I've always found a spot in the underground lot downstairs. There's also wheelchair accessible elevators to bring you to the second floor.

Chaffee is located inside of the TeaRen store. The store is so beautiful and decorated all over with display cases of tea pots and tea cups that you can view and purchase. They also sell tea leaves that range from black tea, oolong tea, Jasmine tea, osmanthus tea, pureah tea, and white tea. Staff were friendly and they even offer tea tasting samples. I especially appreciate that they leave you alone to look around instead of following you everywhere. While here, I had to try their ... 1. King's Oolong Tea Ice cream (5/5) Finding good ice cream made with tea is rare to find. The ice cream had a very pleasant, yet strong roasted-nutty tea flavor. It was not too sweet at all, which is another star. If you like fragrant tea, you'll like this. 2. Tie Guan Ying oolong tea ice cream Another non-sweet tea ice cream. I found this one to be stronger in tea flavor than the King's one. Both are good though. It pairs well with any tea or latte drinks you get here. 3. Chaffee tea latte A bold fusion of their house special King's oolong tea with a shot of espresso, which was strong. It is topped with a lightly sweetened whipped creamy milk There's some seating inside for you to enjoy your drinks and desserts.

Chaffee is an interesting new-ish tea spot in the SGV with lovely iced tea lattes and tons of unique gift items, snacks, and tea pots. They offer a fun new spin on a traditional afternoon tea with an Asian-fusion influence. They keep the vibes elegant and exclusive with sleek decor and several intimate VIP rooms. On my visit I grabbed two of their iced tea lattes to go for me and hubby. I got the 913 Kings Oolong iced tea latte which was complex with a roasty flavor profile. I got it "less sweet" and it was still pretty sweet but smooth. I got the hubby an Oriental Beauty Oolong iced tea latte which was much sweeter with strong honey notes and more floral - it was very nice. The iced tea lattes are plain teas with a cream top which was a thinner cream than most other places but very nice and subtle. They also have regular style milk teas as well as a "Chaffee tea latte" that comes with espresso. The interior almost feels like browsing a museum with all the beautiful tea pots and gifts. They even had an adorable persimmon tea set that I loved haha! This would be a great place for some unique Christmas gifts. Prices for their drinks are reasonable for the area. Their afternoon tea is $65pp so a little steep - and their gifts are a tad pricey as well but seem like one of a kind gifts of good quality. According to the staff helping me (maybe the owner?) it's still the Ten Ren company but with a rebrand to make the name "easier". I visited about 10 mins after they opened for the day and she initially seemed a little put-out that I came in around opening time - but she warmed up a little after I offered to come back later. They seem to still be working out their new opening a bit. They're located on the second floor with stairs on either side - I didn't see any elevators nearby so handicap access may be an issue but it's a large shopping complex so I'd be surprised if there wasn't an elevator somewhere. Parking is a bit of a challenge as this is clearly a popular shopping center and the spaces are also very narrow. The signs above the door still say Ten Fu and Ten Ren with an acrylic banner saying Chaffee so the location may be a little confusing at first if you don't know that they're all the same company lol. All in all I really enjoyed my teas and would like to return to try their unique afternoon tea service!

This is a great new addition to Temple City's teapot plaza! This place is bigger than I expected. There is such a great assortment of teas and ice cream from this place. I ordered two drinks, jasmine green tea and oolong milk tea, as well as the 913 King's Oolong tea ice cream. I loved every drink and ice cream selection. Every flavored tea had enough flavor without feeling so sweet. In addition, the ice cream hit perfectly. The service was also pretty fast. I would highly recommend this place to folks who want great quality tea and want a clean place to hang out at.

I decided to try Chaffee with my bf. I had this placed bookmarked for quite some time already. What drew me to this place is the matcha soft serve. I usually drive to Diamond Bar to get some. The reviews for the matcha ice cream were mixed but I went for it. I'm happy to say that I approve of it. I can taste the matcha. It isn't too strong. I soft serve is not sweet and you just continue scooping more of it. My bf ordered the oriental beauty milk tea with less sugar. I noticed that the brewing method is a bit different and I think it makes all the difference because the tea taste really good. I'll be coming back with my mom and sister. One thing is that the sign outside is Ten REN's and can be a bit misleading. They also have afternoon tea, which looks like a lot of fun. The ambiance is nice. You surely don't want to leave, but rather sit down and enjoy it.

Cute spot for loose leaf tea, freshly brewed tea, and tea flavored soft serve. The space is quite nice and has private seating areas so I imagine they could easily host a larger group of people. Service is very friendly. As soon as I walked in, two women offered me tea samples and were happy to chat about the differences between the various kinds of tea they have. I tried the tieguanyin oolong soft serve ice cream and thought it was great -- not too sweet and full of tea flavor.

We tried the White Peach Oolong Milk Tea and the Oops Cheese Matcha Smash which seems to be one of their more popular drinks. The white peach is what you expect, refreshing and easy to sip. Very happy with the drink overall. As for the Oops Cheese Matcha Smash, aesthetically, the drink is great for photos. It looks more like a swirl drink than anything. I love the overall texture of the drink. It was also as refreshing as the white peach. The cheese mix with the matcha created a swirling feeling, each sip is filled with both flavoring, highly recommend. Excited to revisit again later on, love their menu options, and it seems like a decent spot to hangout with friends or a group despite the smaller space.

It's crisp black tea, salty & sweet brulee foam, and non-dairy milk with bouncy, perky boba pearls. I sipped happily. I arrived at Oops Boba Tea & Coffee (Temple City) on Sunday (around 11:12AM). Parking is simple since there's a nearby neighborhood with street parking. I quickly found a spot. Customers can order at the self-service kiosk or the counter. I chose the self-service kiosk, and I regret it because I dislike how the self-service kiosk requires the customer's phone number to proceed. Staff communicates well. After ordering, Staff honestly & politely informed me that they'd need 20 additional minutes for their Boba since they recently opened. I was perfectly fine with that since they spoke upfront and honestly. After the 20 minutes passed, the drink took four minutes and 14 seconds. As mentioned, I ordered the Baked Brulee Milk Tea ($6.59) with Boba (additional 75 cents). It's delicious. This chill drink carries a crisp tea flavor. The foam is also zesty with a soft sweetness. It reminds me of a creamy milk tea. In addition, they made wonderful boba pearls. These boba pearls are sweet, bouncy, and playful. YUM! On ambiance, Oops Boba Tea & Coffee (Temple City) is a wonderful spot to study/work. There's a long wooden table with 9 electrical plug spots, and there's four available electrical outlets. Price aside, the drinks are good and on par with what you would find at typical boba shops. The food is where this place really shines. They have a large menu, ranging from rice to noodles to grilled meats served on a hot plate. I got the $21 NY steak today, which was a generous portion, served with sliced onions, corn, broccoli and choice of rice or spaghetti. It's not Morton's but, c'mon, $21 for a steak fix these days is a heck of a deal. Most of their entrees are in the $14-18 range. To top it off, the service is great - attentive and very friendly. Free parking lot in the back.

Unfortunately they have discontinued their weekday combo menu making it less worth the drive for us…read moreso we're not sure when we'll next be back. The good news is, their chicken steak is still just as yummy! We ordered: - Grilled chicken steak with black pepper sauce and spaghetti (4/5): Super crispy skin and juicy chicken. The black pepper sauce adds a fragrant touch - much better pairing than the mushroom sauce we got on a previous visit. The spaghetti portion is smaller than at most other HK cafes and isn't as good though. - Baked sole filet with rice and white sauce (3/5): Had high expectations for this dish but it didn't quite meet them. The rice used was plain white rice which isn't what I'm used to at other HK cafes and it left me a bit disappointed since it meant the dish was much more monotone in flavor and there were bites that were unflavorful. The fish itself was generously portioned and easy to eat with the warming cheese and white sauce combo. Wouldn't get again only because I know other spots that do it much better but decent overall. - Beef stew with noodle (3/5): Had expected this to be dry style with the beef stew over softened egg noodles but it came out as a soup. Beef pieces were tender and generous. Egg noodles were a bit overcooked. - Sticky Rice Dim Sum: They were massive and decent in flavor. They were a little mushy I think because it had been steaming a while (which was probably why they were quick to be served) but we didn't mind - Siumai: Generous amount of fish egg on top and was pleasantly meaty. We found parking in the front but also know there's a lot in the back. The restaurant itself is big and pretty empty and quiet. We were glad that service was friendly and quick this visit since the first time we were there one of the servers gave us attitude.
