    Mezcal margarita
    Anna G.

Great space with great service, strong drinks and kind of hit or miss menu. The sushi is actually spot on. Every roll we ordered was great. My mezcal margarita was very strong. We got three different pasta dishes and only the seafood arrabbiata was a hit, as was the burger. Would definitely come back for the sushi if I'm in the area.

We attended a private event at Guildhall. It was a Sunday brunch. We were seated in a private dining room. It was airy, modern, rustic and welcoming all at once. The staff was so accommodating and sincere. Def on game when it came to taking away plates and clearing the table. They also offered good suggestions for drinks. Food was preordered and served family style. We tried avocado toast, mini Greek yogurt fruit cups, eggs Benedict, chicken and waffles, potatoes and cinnamon rolls for dessert. All the food was good but the cinnamon rolls were amazing. I'd also say the avocado toast stands out as excellent. Parking on the street or in one of the many free lots nearby.

    Nicoise salad

Nice ambience - trendy, spacious, plus I still felt comfortable bringing my kids - there is a kids menu after all. My kids love the hot dog and the homemade apple sauce (I agree the apple sauce is truly delicious). I will say that at dinnertime, the choice of colors on the menu made it very uncomfortable to read in the dim lighting. Service was attentive and friendly. For lunch, I recommend the nicoise salad. At dinner, the sushi exceeded our expectations (a nice surprise, we weren't expecting there to be sushi at all). Our entrees were delicious but we felt that at this price point (mid $30s for most entrees), the dishes were missing a third component. For example, the schnitzel came with slaw - I would have appreciated a vegetable (or apple sauce!). The swordfish was cooked perfectly and tender, but sat atop slightly too little rice. It could have used a vegetable too. Finally, there's a nice wine list, and some interesting cocktails, but I was disappointed that there wasn't a single bourbon or whiskey -based cocktail on the list.

Went for dinner without reservations on a busy Wednesday evening. We got seats inside and our waiter responded in ~10 minutes of seating. We had 3 different kinds of sushi, espresso martini, the bread, burger, espresso and tiramisu. The food was as expected and the wait staff were polite.

Guildhall knows brunch. Don't miss the Salmon Avocado Toast. It's really outstanding! The coffee is hot and deep with flavor.

All the table were eventually occupied so she and her sole assistant were so busy. I think they are having staffing issues. Including kitchen staff. The service was still good, but harried. The food came out more slowly than usual and the caesar salad was awful. the dressing didn't seem like a caesar dressing and I couldn't spot any cheese. The steak frites was perfectly cooks but the fries were not the usual crispy outside. I sure hope they aren't skimping on paying their staff well to retain them. If they are skimping, they won't be around long. I'd rather pay more for my experience and good food and easy going dining experience than what we got. I'll give them one more shot before I go elsewhere. I feel so bad that I had to write this review.

The plentiful and delicious brunch buffet goes for a very reasonable $35 per adult, $15 for kids 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. Throw in a photo session with Santa and Mrs Claus and it's a fun holiday deal that can't be beat. This particular Santa was the most fun and gregarious Santa I have ever encountered also. After the photos, he spent some quality chat time with the kids he encountered. The food and food layout and seating layout here were great and it's a much better setup here than at the overly spread out Oakbrook location. I particularly enjoyed their prime rib, smoked salmon, and waffles with home-made whipped cream. Our server was prompt and attentive despite how busy it was. FYI - Pinstripes had some financial difficulty and was recently bought out by an outfit called Punch Bowl Social. They have closed some locations nationwide, but thankfully both Oakbrook and Northbrook look safe for now per the media. Yaay, and best of luck going forward!

Knotty pine on the walls and fish mounts every direction that you look. I started with an Old Fashion that checked the box, and the famed Shrimp Cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was five large shrimp that were firm in texture and clearly fresh. The cocktail sauce tasted like it was from a bottle, it wasn't terrible, but certainly not made in house. The burger was straightforward and the beef was high quality but it desperately needs seasoning (salt and pepper for goodness sake). I ordered my burger with Swiss cheese, that probably wasn't the right choice, American would've been better. The grilled onions were cooked well, but again just a sprinkle of salt would elevate the burger. The bacon was crispy, which was welcomed because the rest of the burger experience was just - meh. My tab was $48 and some change, which isn't terrible in today's economy, however, I've had $48 meals elsewhere that were head and shoulders above. It was clear that this is a long standing tradition in the area, but the food taste is stuck in the past.

We had reservations for 9pm and were able to be seated straight away. We arrived to find the address brought us to a barber shop. Fortunately, my husband had done some research and knew the drill--we made our way to a organ against a brick looking wall. On top of the organ was a bell--we rang the bell and shortly after the brick wall swung open and a woman came out to greet us. She had us play a tune on the organ and then brought us back into the speakeasy. The vibes are pitch perfect. Dimly lit with candles on tables and artful films playing on screens. We loved it. We were greeted straight away and brought water. You can also get a full meal here which we did not know but noted for our next visit. They had a special Valentine's menu as well as their regular cocktail menu. For my first cocktail, I got the paper plane which was light, lemony, and lovely with the adorable touch of a small paper plane pinned to the cocktail with a clothespin. For my second, I got one of their Valentine's specials which was essentially a Boulevardier made with a small float of mezcal on top. What an amazing addition to this classic cocktail! Truly, gave it added dimension, depth, and smoky flavor. I loved it. We also enjoyed their Valentine's dessert special, which was princess cake. It was a lovely blend of tart raspberry and warm almond--we loved it! The service was lovely throughout our experience. Get to it!
