I can't lie - I kinda feel Guisados should leave me a review after a fantastic experience at the West Hollywood location. Came in for a quick bite to eat before a show down the street at the Troubadour. Everything was great. Staff was friendly and helpful, the food was made promptly and brought out to us. It was towards the end of our meal that things got interesting as I had asked for hot sauce for my taco sampler The server mentioned some super spicy taco they had. Now I can handle extreme heat (I could do Hot Ones no problem) and more often than not I'm let down by what most places consider spicy. Not this time however I knew it was gonna be good when the staff from the kitchen started to check me out after it was ordered. They were being sly but by the end of the taco I feel as if I had earned their respect, I'd give it a 7 on my heat scale - it was hot and also delicious. I visited this taco spot on a late night out in West Hollywood and the tacos I had here weren't good. I ordered 3 tacos a staff member recommended me (don't remember the names of them). The masa tortillas weren't fresh and tasted gritty. They were room temperature and I would've preferred them warm. The meat ratio was generous, but they were super watery and there was a pool of liquid at the bottom of my plate. The flavor of the meats was just meh, a bit diluted for good Mexican food. The only saving grace here was the shrimps which were plump and juicy, but still not enough to carry this experience. This place has amazing tacos! I always get their asada and chicken tacos and it's awesome every time. The tacos are bursting with flavor, and the price is super reasonable. I also tried their lemonade, and let me tell you, it's incredible; so refreshing! If you're looking for a quick bite, I highly recommend it. Just a heads-up, even though it's called quick, it usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes to get your food, since it's a super busy area. I definitely suggest taking a table as soon as you go in because it fills up fast, and you don't want to be stuck holding your food with no place to sit. Came here on a Sunday around 3 pm. Of course there's metered parking close by and at this time there were plenty of spots a few blocks away. I had heard of guisados but never tried until this point. I decided to get the 6 taco sampler so I could try as many flavors of taco as I could. The steak picado and cochinita pibil were by far my favorite! They had the strongest and most savory flavor! I think the chicharrón was my least favorite because of the texture. This location is small but feels spacious with outdoor seating and high ceilings. The service was fast and efficient. I'm not dying to come back, these tacos were more Cali-Mex style and I wouldn't get some of the flavors again. I definitely prefer more Mex taco stand style tacos but I'm happy to have tried it! The Conchita Pibil (pork) & Steak Picado (steak with green pepper) were my favorite. They were the most flavorful. The pork was also spicy. I love spice though so I didn't mind it. It also has a sweetness too, that balances out. The Horchata was very delicious, creamy, and milky. The milkiness helped balance out the sweetness so it was sweet, but not too sweet. Guisados is BOMB. They're pretty pricy but honestly for the quality they pump out, I do not mind paying the premium. The breakfast tacos/burritos are my favorite. I regularly get the bacon, egg and cheese tacos with salsa and it hits everytime. The service is pretty friendly and I come often so the fact that some of the staff remembers me is pretty nice. The seating outside is nice and a good spot to people watch. They have limited seating in general but it's worth to eat there, especially since the area has more "formal" options. If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. I would just like to start off with customer service. I don't know her name, but she was THE nicest employee I've ever met. Since it was my first time there, she was so thorough with her explanations and so beyond patient with me. The food came out great. I ordered 4 items: Bistek en Salsa Roja Tinga de Pollo Mole Poblano Quesadilla con Chorizo 10/10 food, the tortilla was so good and perfectly cooked. The quesadilla con Chorizo and Bistek was probably my favorite. My friend ordered the Taco Sampler where you get 6 mini tacos. The worker later came by and offered to explain the plate to my friend, which was much appreciated. The cantaloupe lemonade is also a must try. Highly recommend for their food AND service. While walking through Weho, we stopped by here to get some tacos. I usually get the sampler, but I decided to go with my friend's favorites and I'm so glad I decided to try them! Since LA is one of those places where there are a ton of fantastic taco places in practically every neighborhood, this could be hit or miss depending on what you value. But of the handful of times I've come here, I've always found the Guisados tacos solid- the meats are tender and juicy, and each bite is fresh. It's the kind of taco where the juices run down your hand as you bite into it, so keep the napkins close by. I had the mole poblano and the pescado and of the two, the pescado was my favorite. It was a solid piece of fish, but it was so light. With the cabbage, pico de gallo, and crema, it's a refreshing bite that complements this beautiful spring weather we've been having. I probably could have had another, but the beauty of this location is that Salt & Straw is just a couple doors down, so I saved my appetite for dessert. There's street parking, but this area can be super busy. It's a fun area to walk around and close to the bars, dog parks, aquatic center and tennis courts.
