    Back to the 80's!

Back to the 80s! So happy Marix is back. I swear, literally had to sit down in a wicker chair under the sunny retractable open roof, smile, and take it all in with a deep breath after walking in here because I felt like I was back in 1989. They've managed to completely restore this restaurant to almost exactly what it was like before in the 1980s-1990s, bar counter and all, when it had the most happening happy hour and was the coolest Tex-Mex spot in West Hollywood. Marix has the same upbeat vibe as back in the day and they've completely refreshed it. It's so on point that it feels like you're on a 1990s movie set or something. It honestly felt like Jeff Stryker, Olivia Newton John and maybe Belinda Carlisle plus the Go-Go's were gonna walk in at any minute. :D This was the see and be seen place for locals to meet up in West Hollywood for years. The energy is "totally awesome" and they serve fantastic margaritas and the best chips and salsa. I'm sad to say that their signature dish, the sizzling steak fajitas, is not what it used to be and was mid. Next time I'll try the shrimp fajitas instead, or maybe the chicken is the one to order? But the atmosphere is great, so who cares? Honestly. I like their chips & salsa so much that the fajitas didn't bother me. The scrumptious sizzling apple pie with brandy sauce and vanilla ice cream made up for it. Definitely come here if you want to have a fun time out with friends or a great date. I loved our server and he was really fast and on point with the order. Really want this place to be a success because it's so legendary! They're doing something right because it was packed on a Taco Tuesday at 6:00 PM. I've always been able to find metered parking nearby, but there is the Kings Road city parking structure about a block west. I think you might be able to find parking near the City Hall of West Hollywood location across the street as well.

This popular spot closed in March 2020 and recently re-opened after a five-year hiatus with an updated menu, a revamped look, and fresh new vibes. The menu features Tex Mex fare that is reasonably priced. The portions are generous and margaritas are available by the pitcher. I came here with my brothers for some Sunday Funday shenanigans. They used to come here back in the day and had some wild stories to tell. Our server Branden was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! Loved him! The other waiter was great too. The décor here is lively & fun and the retractable roof emits tropical vacation vibes. We started with chips & salsa and a pitcher of the Skinny Margarita. The chips & salsa were tasty and the margarita got the party started. Ole! (We ended up ordering 4 pitchers.) Our food order consisted of: Nachos, Macho Stacked Chicken Enchilada with Herb Green Rice, Shrimp Diablo, Plato De Carnitas, side Caesar Salad, & a side of Fries. The Shrimp Diablo was tasty but needed more heat. The Herb Green Rice had a nice flavor. The Nachos were yummy as were the fries. I do like the food at Zarape' better (which is across the street), but for a fun time and margaritas that pack a punch Marix is the place.

Marix was one of our regular haunts for years, so I was genuinely sad when it closed. When it finally reopened, I couldn't wait to go back. The most surprising part? Prices are exactly where they were when the doors shut years ago. The food is much the same as well--solid, average Tex-Mex. The enchiladas and tacos are perfectly fine, just not the reason you come here. But once that first margarita hits the table, none of that really matters. Add in great chips and salsa, and you're reminded why this place has such loyal fans. Our server, Garrett, was terrific--friendly, attentive, and even brought water for my dog, which always earns extra points. Marix is officially back in the rotation, especially on Taco Tuesday.

Felt compelled to write a review because Marix deserves more than 3.5 stars. The restaurant reopened last year after being closed for several years and management decided to keep their 2019 prices which is ultimately insane in SoCal but is so appreciated for the locals. It's a great neighborhood spot for lunch, dinner, drinks, whatever you feel like! The food is great-- I would suggest the enchiladas... any of them. The sauces are so good. The taquito also! The margaritas are also good, and the chips and salsa? Never-ending! If you're craving some Mexican food, perfect spot!

    Delicious margarita!

Marix is back ... and all I can say is FINALLY!! One of my favorite spots ever, and having it reopened in Weho after a 5-year closure did not disappoint. The margaritas are as strong and delicious as ever, the chips and guac are plentiful, and the fajitas are big enough to share with a friend (hot tip: get the blackened chicken for a little extra spice). And the best part? They kept their 2019 pricing! A pitcher of margaritas is under $30. Do yourself a favor and come here immediately -- Weho's fave neighborhood spot is BACK!

The famous Marix Tex Mex Cafe finally re-opened after Covid. What a delight to have one of the good 'ol' restaurants come back again with some of the prior staff members that keep this place fabulous. The food was amazing and delicious and it's already on our list to frequently repeat. The ambiance is casual, clean and nice - but for those who have never been here, the seating is cramped up to one-another BUT is totally okay because the guests are all fabulous. We had the pitcher of Marix Margaritas with free chips and salsas, ordered the guacamole which was fantastic. Follow d by the Enchiladas Suizas and the Jorge's Crab+Shrimp Enchiladas. Honestly, the Jorge's was much better than the Suizas. Marix is a happening place - so come and enjoy a nice dinner or brunch and some splendid drinks. Upon re-opening, the prices remain the same when they closed in 2019 (I think this continues for one year). Marix is a must.

Bobby, the server is great! I had the crunchy chicken tacos, so delicious! Of course got a picture of the kick ass margaritas. Service was fast. Dog friendly in the front patio! I'll definitely be coming back. Hopefully Bobby will be my server again. He made the experience so much fun!

Marix is iconic. Period. Is the food great? It's very passable. SO glad it's back in WeHo. A fun, gay good time. Pre-pandemic pricing and sweet present staff don't hurt.

Located in West Hollywood Marix Tex Mex restaurant is a fun place to go for drinks and dinner. When you walk in your greeted with big smiles and great energy. The host, the servers and the bartenders all love being there and it shows. This is a great place to bring a date, family or people from the office. It's a social, friendly and flirty atmosphere. The inside is very charming and they have a big sky ceiling that opens up, which is perfect for Southern California. The margaritas are very generous and the food is absolutely delicious. We are definitely making this restaurant on our monthly rotation.! Marix Tex Mex in West Hollywood gets our five star yelp review and our personal recommendation! You will go and have a great time bon appétit!

This beloved neighborhood bar is back! Serving its classic margarita by the pitcher and comforting Tex-Mex favorites. For a lot of folks, this place holds lots of memories so many are glad that it's back! The space is small and they don't take reservations so you will most likely have to wait a bit. Since it's newly reopened, we got there around 5:45 and didn't get seated until about 7 for a party of 5. All was good because we were at the bar drinking margaritas in the meantime. I got the Steak Fajitas and they came out on a sizzling hot plate. Also recommend getting the Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream dessert! It also comes out sizzling with delicious caramel all around!!

I have been to Marix on a few occasions since their re-opening. Sadly, it is no longer the fun, lively and tasty place I once knew. My last visit was on Halloween 2025 and it was okay. Ambiance: Pleasant Service: Okay Food: Okay. Their pitcher of margarita (skinny) was nothing to holler about and a bit pricey for the majority of the pitcher to be ice and not margarita. Overall, I rate Marix a 3 on a scale from 1 to 5, 5 being great. If you haven't been back since the reopening, give Marix a try. Hopefully, your experience will be a 4 or a 5.

Looking for a casual, affordable, and socially-vibey restaurant in Weho...? Marix is officially back and open. You can tell when you walk in that this is a favorite among the locals. I stepped in early on a Friday night, and the space was buzzing with everyone celebrating happy hour to early dinner bites before a night out. There are no reservations here, but you don't need one... although you may have to wait a bit for a table during peak hours on the weekends. The food is pretty standard Tex Mex, I think the tacos I had were pretty solid and a decent price for restaurant tacos. The Margaritas here are a decent deal, we had a few Watermelon margaritas that night. Finish off with the sizzling Apple Pie for a little fun treat. All in all, an easy spot to come in over again... with my love of breakfast burritos I may try to come back during brunch hours sometime

This one is actually in WeHo east of La Cienega in kind of an upmarket strip mall. It was just strolling distance from our hotel, so it was the ideal spot for a casual dinner before venturing onto Santa Monica Blvd for the PRIDE festivities. We actually had the foresight to make a reservation and were initially seated inside next to the bar where a couple of loud sluggos were holding court. To his immense credit, the host noticed the noise and asked if we would prefer a quieter seat in the patio. This was LA, so hell yeah. We were grateful. The menu has many delectable specialties, though we were feeling conscientious and focused on their salads. Jamie ordered the $24 Mexican Chopped Salad, a robust mix of grilled chicken, chopped romaine and arugula, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, radishes, avocado, and queso fresco, drizzled with lemon vinaigrette (Photo 9). It was a Cal-Mex delight. I went with the $25 Oaxaca Cactus Salad with grilled shrimp, fresh cactus, diced tomatoes, red onions, jalapenos, cilantro, and queso fresco. It was liberally mixed with tomatillo dressing (Photo 8). The cactus provided a nice, crunchy texture. We also shared the $10 Grilled Seasonal Veggies, a tasty mix of carrots, zucchini, and summer squash (Photo 7). But don't be too impressed by our healthy choices because we went for the $12 Mexican Bunuelos (Photo 10). Crispy, thin fritters topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Came here for my friend's birthday dinner, and it ended up being such a fun spot for my group. The…read moreatmosphere was probably my favorite part--dim lighting, beautiful decor, and it definitely has that trendy vibe that's perfect for celebrating or catching up with friends. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. The enchiladas were flavorful, the grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the tortillas with the short rib were a table favorite. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall Great atmosphere, solid food, and a fun place for birthdays or date nights. I'd definitely come back!!

We came to Ka'teen specifically for their Dine LA menu and made a 6:45 PM reservation. When we…read morearrived, we were told the Dine LA menu was already sold out--which was confusing since they open at 6 PM. Our waiter then told us we needed a specific Dine LA reservation, something that was never mentioned when I called or when I made the reservation. I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

I saw this spot on yelp and it had really good reviews so we decided to check it out. I am so glad…read morewe did because this is now one of my favorite Mexican restaurants of all time. The food was excellent, and the service was so attentive. Parking may be a bitch here, but that should not prevent you from trying this place. Valet is $14, could be worse. The food and drinks are very affordable here anyways. To start, we ordered a ceviche and a couple drinks. I ordered the La Seductora and they made it a little spicy per my request. It was fantastic and did the job. Amazing flavor. Ceviche was also good. The star of the show was the main courses and our dessert. I ordered a shrimp taco and a fish taco and both were some of the greatest tacos I've ever had. The shrimp was so yummy and wasn't overcooked. The grilled fish taco was also very tasty. My fiancé ordered enchiladas, and I gave it a try and it was so yummy!!!! For dessert, we ordered the La Bamba which was THE BOMB!!! you can't come here and not try it. This place is a 10 out of 10 I would come back for sure.

I should've stuck with a strawberry margarita, you really can't go wrong there. For dinner, I had the chicken flautas. They were alright. The chicken lacked flavor, which made the dish a bit bland overall. The beans were seasoned well and the rice was good too, but the portion was pretty small. The ambiance was nice! Dimly lit and a bit on the smaller side, but it filled up quickly on a Saturday night. It definitely has a fun, lively vibe and the music was great. I'd come back and give it another try.

Really brings me no pleasure to do this, but this is my forth visit and it was such a step down…read morefrom the previous visits. End of the day, a $68 bill pre-tip for a less than genrous plate of ($16??) guac and 4 very small tacos with no rice or beans included and one draft Modelo is just unacceptable. The tacos were adequate, but unspectacular. 'Filet mignon' tacos were a single unchopped hunk of meat well flavored but so bare and small for 2x $22. The guac was too refrigerated, with not fully ripened avocado that resulted in an overly sweet taste and slightly firm texture that was unpleasant. Chips were also just not very good, and also not as far as I could tell complimentary. Service gets high marks for speed and efficiency, but felt super impersonal. Example, a server asked us how everything was while we were clearly just sitting there, not having tasted any of it waiting for some limes to arrive at the table. Just asked the question without surveying at all, and it was very performative and not genuine. Which is fine. I'm not at all mad at the servers, tough job but worth noting when noting the tip % options on the POS. End of the day I don't know if I'll be back or not. Everybody has an off day. But just about every aspect was less than stellar(draft beer was excellent) especially compared to three previous excellent visits. It's getting harder to justify going out for dinner, and at these prices, I would hope they could do a little better.
