I actually ended up here last night via sleight of hand by my friend. While I was waiting in line for over an hour past our Rez at another restaurant, and they couldn't tell me how much longer, he said let's go grab some Mexican and he booked us a reservation, and we walked :5 over there and were seated immediately. I didn't know until we sat down and I looked at the menu, that it was a vegetarian restaurant, but the two friends I was with were both vegetarians and they had been here before and loved the place, but they didn't let me in on that until that moment. The styling of the decor and the ambience of this location is outstanding, I loved every bit of it. The staff was very pleasant and professional. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm not against vegetarian food, but the menu was different than I expected when he originally said 'Mexican', so I had to shift my brain to help me figure out what I wanted to order and I ended up with the enchiladas, which were extremely tasty and the mushrooms were excellent. Went for Happy Hour on Taco Tuesday and they had plenty of options for food, which I love. Drink specials include $8 margaritas, spicy or regular and $1 more with mazcal. It was perfectly balanced but it was not as spicy, and i like spice. I also tried the sangria and that had great tropical flavor. He said it was peach, pineapple and it tasted refreshing. For food: I got the toasta and it was presented beautiful, but the taste was a bit bland. The taco trio was $7 & looked filling for the amount of food you got. 3 small street taco sized but a lot of filling. The $10 Happy Madre Meal included a beer or a fresca and I'm glad I got the fresca. It was delicious. The meal also came with 1 bbq jackfruit slider and Chipotle garlic fries which was a decent size. The service was great and the QR code made it easy to split payment and pay without flagging the server down. I recently ordered some delivery from here on a lazy day and found how much I missed the food here! It's definitely not authentic Mexican food but still hits the spot! The food is very hearty and indulgent and you can tell that everything is made with care from scratch. A lot of the menu dishes do use the same flavors and spices, but I find those to be very well done so I can't complain! On my most recent order, I got the nachos with a side of jackfruit carnitas and crispy garlic tofu. Everything was superb and had such great textures, especially the jackfruit. The nachos had the most creamy cheese sauce which left me wanting more! I felt so good after I ate everything. A solid LA spot which has been in Weho for years, Gracias Madre has been a go-to spot for a healthier preparation of southwestern/Mexican style food with a vegetarian twist. I've had several of their dishes in the past from starting with their chips and guac and also their off cob elote as well as their quesadillas but on this last visit I had their beet salad and added the roasted chipotle tofu which was pretty satisfying. It can get a bit pricey for two people (with a few drinks the bill came out to $120 for 2 apps, 2 entrees) but the services is friendly, ambiance is beautiful on an LA evening and it's a really nice and warm place to have a good dinner on a weeknight in Weho. Parking can get a bit tricky- valet is available or try meter or street parking if you can find it! read more

Where can you find a better happy hour???? My partner and I love meeting up after work to enjoy their happy hour. Before 6, there's tons of street parking on the side street. The valet takes up four meter spots which doesn't seem fair. The patios is very cute. It does it cold and they do have heaters but I'd suggest to bring layers. My partner always gets the jackfruit sliders. Today, we tried in addition to the sliders - the mushroom, jackfruit, and lentil tacos. They're all tasty but they were missing some seasoning and heat. I tasted the red onion but didn't really get other notes. The mushrooms were fried and battered. I'd still return bc we have to support West Hollywood restaurants! There's very few plant-based restaurants and the happy hour prices are affordable. The service is friendly and quick. What more could you want? Decided to try Gracias Madre for an early Valentine's Day treat. The restaurant is beautiful with a large interior and an open air patio. We enjoyed the patio and even though there were others nearby, it definitely had a quiet, intimate vibe. Our waitress was exceptional and did a great job providing recommendations and making sure we were well cared for. We started with the ceviche which was made from hearts of palm and was so enjoyable. I had the tacos de pescado and they were absolutely amazing! Definitely recommend them! My husband got the Taco Trio and was able to sample a variety. I've tried them all and they are all good, but mushroom and soyrizo are probably my favorite. The toastada (picture) doesn't feel worth it compared to the tacos but was also good. The fries on happy hour are also great. We also tried the happy meal and it is also a great option. The outdoor area is pretty big and lively. However, if it is cool, a double edged sword is that fireplace. It provides some warmth, but also lets off a lot of smoke. Imagine my surprise when I arrived to this all vegan menu for my beloved pal's birthday here. I was feeling very distraught, but putting an unscathed face on, decided on the lion's mane tacos. Glad I did! They were really good. The salsa brought it all together well and my only gripe was that I was still feeling very hungry even after doubling up on chips and guacamole. I think I should've gotten a filling bowl like everyone else. I visited during my dry era and I was astonished that they sell liquor, but soda is where they draw the line. I gave it 4 stars bc at least this place has a perspective when so many LA restaurants try to be everything (or the same few "in" things) for everyone. At the West Hollywood location I ordered this past Thursday night the cucumber revival, queso fundido starter and churros for dessert. OMG so everything was soooo good, especially the queso fundido! I swear years ago when I went the drinks were always good but food was hit and miss. It seems like they really improved the quality of the food. I told the server Adriana who was soooo sweet it was my birthday and at first she gave me the tree leches with a little candle on the house for my birthday but then said she forgot I'm gluten free and exchanged it for the brownie with a candle. What a coincidence, we're back at Gracias Madre and we're watching Game 7 of the 2025 World Series with the Dodgers on my cell phone while enjoying our spectacular meal. I just read my last review and we were watching a Dodgers playoff run while we had dinner when I documented the meal on the last review. I cannot recommend you go to another nice sit down vegan restaurant! GM's is on the Mount Rushmore of nice Vegan restaurants! We have not run into a dish or drink not worth the price of admission! This time we shared a Purista Pitcher of margaritas. If you have multiple people in your group who all want margs, best bang for the buck! I guess I was thirsty, I did not snap a pic of our drinks! Our family love the Pozole last time we were here and this trip they had a Pozole Verde. I always chuckle because we ask for three spoons when we all get a sampling of the Pozole. Very delicious! We also ordered a Heart of Palm Crab Cakes. It was a very beautiful presentation with flavors to match! We ordered the Nachos and Gorditas de Chicharrón for our entrees. Both were excellent. What I tried in order of faves: 10/5!!! POZOLE - We make vegan pozole for Christmas in my family but I've never seen it in the wild. This was a showstopper. 6/5 HIBISCUS ICED TEA - Literal heaven. The way this tea paired with the food was divine. 5/5 ASADA TACOS - Made with Lion's Mane. I actually tried to make my own at home after having these. So good! 5/5 Tres Leches cake - Complementary for bdays! Insane flavor. 4/5 BURRITO - I am a burrito girl so had to order this! Filled with jackfruit "carnitas" 3/5 ESQUITES - Corn off the cob appetizer. This was the only thing I wasn't in love with. Still liked it but would pass next time.
