I have lived in 9 states and also toured all over the country so I have a very good sample size to make the following statement. This Guitar Center in Huntsville, AL is BY FAR the absolute worst I've visited out of them all. It's not just one bad experience there....it has literally been an awful and angering experience EVERY time I've shopped there with the exception of one. The other issue is that they NEVER seem to answer their phones there when you call either. Just in the last two days and in the minutes preceding this comment I have tried to call repeatedly and it just rings and rings and rings. (This is of course AFTER the menu prompt and pressing 2 to speak with a Guitar Center Professional) There is nothing or noone professional at that store. I would like to say that joke's on them as I will now just go ahead and order the drumkit from Sweetwater, but it's actually on me for even thinking I would give them a chance for my business again. read more

Walked in with a 3000 dollar budget and asked if they had a Taylor 410ce for sale, which their website conveyed they did. After the bearded guy at the counter instructed the young lady at the computer to check to come back with a "NO". I asked if they had something comparable and one would have thought I had asked if they were ready for a root canal. No motivation what so ever to sell a guitar so I walked out. I suspect I interrupted a TikTok conversation between the manager and the girl at the computer who not only lacked computer skills, but any musical skills whats so ever. I'll never walk in another GuitarCenter. I ordered one with SweetWater. Don't waste your time dealing with these folks! read more

This is a pretty nice Guitar center. They even have practice booths and lessons you can sign up for. They have some random little things like replicas and what not. I think some of the stuff is really high priced, but I don't knew what's average for instruments. read more

Delivered my package to the wrong address. I have emailed them several times and no one has responded.

After years of frustration at this GC for never having the items they advertise as "In Stock" online and watching every other music shop in town struggle and eventually fail due to the national brand's tactic of "undercut at a loss", the store has become little more than a place to go and put hands on items before buying them elsewhere online. Now they're not even good for that. Today I went there to test headphones as my SRH840's finally gave up the ghost. The headphone display was very dirty, many of the sets on display had either deteriorating earcups or no earcups at all. The one "white" pair they had was yellowed more than a SNES. They carried Shure headphones, but they were all up on a high shelf and none were on display(probably for the best). The store employee was sympathetic about the state of the headphone display and let me try a pair out of the box, but given how nasty the bathroom was, I'm guessing that nobody in the store actually cleans anything. The store was "go get a COVID test after" kinda nasty. It really speaks volumes when musicians will cancel a gig before purchasing from this company, due to the fact that there are no longer any in-town alternatives and GC is directly to blame. Here's hoping the dilapidated state of the store is a sign that they'll go under soon. Hopefully this will show folks that national brands don't have to be better in order to financially out perform local businesses. Guitar Center is bad for the world and they need to leave. read more

Horribly rude customer service from both employees and management. Highly unprofessional.

I came in on Sunday 12/12/21 to look for an Ibanez micro bass. They didn't have any in stock so I asked the manager ( Tyler )about an alternative . He was condescending and addressed every other word to my male friend even though I made it clear that I would be the one purchasing the instrument. It was clear that since I don't fit the "demographics" for their customer base, I wasn't worth his time. This is the second time, I've been treated like this in his store. I called customer service and I was told someone from Corporate would follow up within 24 hours. They did not , so I'm on the phone again. In the meantime, don't waste your time with this place , go to Sweetwater. they have more knowledgeable sales people and better stock. read more

I've read the reviews, heard the rumors, and had no expectations other than hoping they would let my 15 year old son play some guitars so he could get a feel for the different tones etc. From the minute we walked in we were home. We were greeted with energy and Seth took my son to the electric guitars, made some recommendations, plugged him into a double stack and let him shred. We spent about an hour and tried 7-10 guitars with Seth checking on us occasionally and offering really good insight. We had zero negative experience at this store! We had no intention of buying and left with a new ltd and hard case. Great experience! Highly recommend! read more

The Guitar Center in Huntsville is basically a retailer and that's all. You had just as well but a guitar on-line for all the service you get, and it would likely be cheaper. In regard to customer service, repairs or warranty work at Guitar Center, it's advisable to buy from somebody else. I bought a Squire bass guitar from Guitar Center and after arrriving home (about 50 miles away) I noticed the retaining nut on the jack was loose. In contacting the store I was connected to the repair technician (Gunter). After explaining the problem, Gunter told me to bring the guitar in the next time I was in Huntsville and it would be a quick repair. I told him I lived about 50 miles away and asked if I could tighten the nut myself and I was told I could, but bring the guitar in and he would install a washer so it wouldn't happen again. Since purchasing the guitar I've driven to Huntsville 3 times, even after talking with Gunter on the phone to insure he would be there, and every time after arriving I'm informed that Gunter isn't in and advised he's the only technician on site. I've bought a few things from this outfit in the past, but Guitar Center has lost my business for good! read more

I drove over 800 miles in one day to visit my daughter.... and get my 1986 Squier worked on by Gunner at Guitar Center. He made the frets look and feel awesome, and now only my lack of talent is holding me back. I had a great time visiting my daughter and Huntsville, and we had a great time hanging out at GC. The repair service was worth the trip, and the price was very reasonable. read more

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS GUITAR CENTER! I decided I wanted to learn how to play the guitar so I took my fiance'e in with me to play with a few. We spent most of the time in the acoustic area. The employees were so friendly and accomadating. I know ZERO about guitar so they were able to play them for me and show me the different things that they do. Being from California I didn't want to purchase there and have to fly with a guitar home. Upon entering the one in Sacramento I realized this GC in Huntsville is one of a kind. Saw a carvin mini v3 amp at the store today and got pretty excited because I had been planning to buy a new one soon. So when I saw that the in store price (once tax was included) was turning out to be more than a brand new amp I curiously asked why. That was a huge mistake on my part. Never and I mean ever ask these people questions. The guy first claims that the amp is 899 brand new, once I tell him he's thinking of a different amp he then back pedals and claims he is matching eBay and then proceeds to show me carvins eBay website that sells, yep you guessed it, brand new, unplayed amps that are marked down 50$ for cosmetic issues. The guy had absolutely no clue what he was talking about and after showing him carvins website to prove that it was priced higher at their store used than new, he turned bitter. He refused to get me a manager after I politely asked to speak with one to find out if they had made a mistake. If he has just told the truth from the start and admitted that he doesn't know about the amp and got me a manager that would have been perfect. Do not buy used gear here thinking you are saving money unless you do research first. I'm not saying they will purposely try to rip you off but their incompetence can get the better of you. I have shopped here more than once. Usually for small stuff, picks strings cables that type of thing. You definitely need to watch them. If your not careful they will take you. If you are unfamiliar with musical instruments take someone you trust with you who is. read more

My friend and I were in town for a few days and decided to hang out at Guitar Center in Huntsville, playing their instruments. Staff was friendly and helpful, retrieving guitars and providing cables and tuner. They were patient with us on both occasions that we spent a couple hours there. Seemed like a decent selection. Pictures are deceiving. I just ordered a "Washburn x40pro" used in great condition, supposedly. Well first off, after it was delivered I found that it's a far cry from being what was advertised. Serial number has been removed so I can't see what it actually is. Looks like a washburn x10, maybe a wr-150 that the neck has been replaced on, you can see the line from the body it came off of and the neck heel of the body is cracked, Pickups are just screwed down tight with torx head wood screws. Floyd rose is crap. Backplate had been replaced and broken. I bought from a picture Sure wish that the guitar experts in Huntsville knew something about a guitar without reading it from a sale pamphlet. I recommend that if Huntsville has a guitar that you want, I would try to find another one elsewhere, If you must buy from a Guitar Center,call Fort Wayne, they are stand up fellas that will tell you that they don't know, instead of incorrectly advertising something just to con someone out of a $1. Can't believe I wasted my rewards $ on this crap,I got blinded by what I thought was a x40pro for sale.Do the research before ordering anything online from GC!!! Yep, my first online purchase too, but my 6th guitar purchased in a year, 4th from Guitar Center.I guess I could return it, but I'm going to let it take up space as a reminder to not buy anything from Huntsville again. read more

I am brand new to guitar and was a little intimidated about heading to GC to get started. I had ordered a used guitar from another store and had it shipped to GC. When I went to pick it up today, the headstock was cracked. The assistant manager went through the in store inventory to find me a comparable product. Since he couldn't find the same model, he cut me a great deal on another guitar. For just a few dollars more than I had originally paid, I walked out with a vastly superior instrument. These guys took great care of me, even though they didn't make much or anything off of the transaction. Great customer service,and I will be back. read more
