Cool place. pretty fun. It's nice and clean Kyle's cool, Juan was super helpful, however .... I had a very unique issue and had to run around back and forth. They were finally able to resolve the issue but didn't offer me any type of discount ... when they sold me a speaker that had a broken fuse took me 30 minutes to figure it out and it was the last one they had in stock. I was 2 hours late to my gig and they ended up giving me their display because it was all they had of that particular speaker so I could do my gig since I paid full price for a speaker that didn't even work. Christian said he wasn't able to refund me my $650 even tho it was their mistake, so he gave me store credit of $650. I became even more upset that he didnt even give me any type of discount when I decided to use my store credit to buy the most expensive speaker he convinced me to purchase. Then the last straw was when he told me he would call me and let me know when my products arrived and are ready for pick up.... He didn't tell me until 2 weeks later but he was so persistent with calling me in the beginning to make the sale ... I told him I don't check my email and appreciate his calls but taking 2 weeks to let me know it arrived.... Smh. All good I just would be cautious when purchasing with christian he's focused on sales not our happiness. He is quick to make sales and call me daily to check if I'm ready to go back to make a purchase but not so quick to tell me my order arrived and was ready for pick up. Or give me a deal when they made mistakes. Guess that's why he's the lead sales not lead in customer service. I will be back but I'll ask for Juan or Kyle to help me. Came into Guitar Center to pick up an online order for a rainbow kids guitar. Walking in and I had to look for an employee for help with my order. Walked around a bit and was unsure of who worked here. An employee found me and asked if I needed any help. I responded with I was here to pick up an order. He said he would go to the back and look and see if my order was ready so I waited. I walked around a bit, hoping he would come back and get me once he had my order, but I was mistaken. As I saw him helping a customer at the register, I walked over to the register so he would be reminded that he was getting my order from the back. I was nonexistent and I waited almost 20 minutes before another employee came over to help me. I would understand if the store was packed because I know it is a few days till Christmas however, the store was pretty empty when I came in I was the only one there so I should've been able to pick up my order and leave and not have to wait more than 30 minutes. Maybe I'll have a better experience next time I come in because I did see some fun items for my grandkids. read more

I called Guitar Center looking for a Yamaha CK61 keyboard, which has been hard to find because they're usually out of stock. Christian answered the phone and was immediately helpful. He let me know they had just gotten one in, went to check himself, and even reserved it for me until I could get there. When I arrived about an hour later, Christian was just as helpful in person as he was over the phone. He took time to walk me through the keyboard, showed me features he personally likes to use, answered all of my questions, and shared advice from his own experience. It was obvious he genuinely enjoys what he does and knows his stuff. I mentioned that I'll be using the keyboard for church and traveling with it often, and he explained the warranty options in a helpful way without ever being pushy. He simply wanted to make sure I understood the benefits in case something happened while transporting it. I appreciated that a lot. From the first phone call all the way through checkout, Christian made the whole experience easy. Friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely helpful. First of all, I love guitar center and have always brought my music needs to them. I had the pleasure of working with Christian at Guitar Center multiple times over the past week. He was the first one to help me on my initial visit, helping me find the perfect Guitar for my 17 yo. He was kind and patient, and took my daughter's size and skill level into consideration. I went in just to look, and left with a beautiful guitar! Within a few days, I sent my sister to him to find a guitar for her teenage daughter, and Christian helped me with an excellent trade in for my keyboard. Christian has all of the key qualities that one would want in a customer service rep! He is professional, respectful, kind, friendly, resourceful, attentive, and advocated for me as a customer (getting me the best deal possible). Importantly, he was not pushy at all!! How many times is enough times to say "No" to the extended warranty? So they had a good sale on black on black Akai midi controllers. I bought out the last 2 which brings me to another beef. One of the two was the floor model, without the box, warranty card, instructions, etc. I asked the sales guy "Can I get a discount since this is the floor model?" His response, "It's already on sale, I can't do anything?" Really? If I buy 2 cars on sale at the same price, you'd think it's OK if one of them was missing the tires because it's on sale? You'd at least discount the missing tires, missing packaging is worth something. So he starts ringing me up, and starts asking me if I wanted to buy the extended warranty. I can accept one time, even twice, but 3 times? Dude... 4 times? Oh man.. just stop already! Before he had a chance to ask a 5th time, I let him know this was going into a review. That stopped him pretty cold. I don't think I've ever seen anyone be that persistent with trying to sell me an extended warranty before. read more

Honestly, if I could give -1 stars, I would. I've spent money here before on devices and figured I'd try their music lessons for my son. I booked a 15-min trial for a Saturday evening but had something urgent come up. I called THREE hours ahead to reschedule and was told I should "stay on top of my schedule" and not book lessons if I can't manage my time. Wow. There was zero flexibility, and the tone was incredibly rude. I understand policies, but there's a respectful way to talk to people especially when they're communicating respectfully and giving advance notice. This place really needs to re-evaluate how they train staff to interact with customers. There are plenty of other programs out there with better service and actual empathy. Avoid if you value being treated with basic decency. read more

After a less than great experience at the Stevens Creek location, I went to my normal store (Cherry Ave) and received - yet again -exceptional service from Christian. I asked for an acoustic guitar and he took me to the acoustic guitar room (instead of just looking at the monitor screen) suggested and played a few guitars for me so I could hear the sound of each - this was very helpful as it was a gift for my husband. The store is almost empty of any customers and I asked for help in the keyboard department. 20 minutes later no one is helping, no one is checking on customers, it's just quietness with no assistance. If I could give Zero I would just based off visiting the store doe the very first time since this place was up we pass by it all the time and thinking about getting a guitar and lessons. Walked in no one greeted us so we wondered around on our work looking at all the different instruments and about 25 mins have passed no one seem to care or asked if we needed any help or if we were looking for something or had any questions . All the EMPLOYEES seem to have their own thing going on talking amongst themselves in a little group or on their cellphones etc . It's so sad that places don't have anymore customer service in today's society because everyone to busy in their cellphone especially at work. Such a shame this is the reason why business are loosing their brick and mortar stores because they hire people who don't value customer service into helping people when talking in to the stores . So have it another try today and called them to inquire for some lessons and they just left me on the line on hold for over 30 mins and went to voicemail ridiculous. I hope the owner or management reads this truly and really looks into their employees and how they handle business . Such a shame but I'll have to take my business elsewhere or on Amazon and other local places . If I could give Zero stars then I would but won't be giving them any business. If you're looking for any equipment just purchase one line these people don't want ur business and don't care about their customers. I've been to a number of Guitar Centers and therefore braces myself entering this one. Without getting into a myriad of negatives or details (which I feel that this world doesn't need an abundance of the minutia of negatives), my primary reason for my reluctance is due to not being a musician nor ever playing a guitar! Kyle Ghajar completely and successfully put me at rest immediately upon greeting me. At first I questioned if I would (for the third time) be either underwhelmed with the service or intimated with the subject at hand. Kyle is a consummate professional with an abundance of knowledge and the ability to satisfy my request in a genuine and calming way. Once I began speaking to him (after asking him if I could to speak to the manager) and his reply was that he was the Customer Service Manager, giving him the opportunity to assist me was my personal greatest customer service experience in the Bay Area of all time. Even after I did my exchange he didn't get my guitar until I had to shout out to him talking to another employee. The staff here can be hit or miss with respect to customer service skills and how they manage customer concerns and questions , but that's probably more of a corporate wide holistic issue . That said, the music instructors working here at the Almaden/ Cherry ave location are really doing the lords musical work . My kids have had a couple different instructors (largely our doing due to schedule changes with sports and stuff ) but every one we've worked with, and continue to do so are fantastic and deserve some recognition and their due props . Patrick - the keyboard/ piano instructor is very patient and has a way to connect with the younger kids and makes it really fun to learn the keys . My 8 year old son has really picked his level up from zero skills to being pretty dang good in under a year of lessons . He and Patrick have even done some duets and Patrick encourages him to challenge himself with new material . Quinton - guitar , drums and bass , he knows it all and teaches it all . Really good guy, has a great way of simplifying complex theory and sounds and is really patient while challenging students to pick their game up at a manageable non intimidating pace, to where before you know it your playing a song you wanted to play . He's really helped my daughter with her drum improvement and she's already at an intermediate level, and improving . He's also been teaching me bass and has been really cool to learn from . Jeremy - he manages the lessons, scheduling , and lessons enrollment and his customer support is tops, he's good with people and seems to "get it ", good experience there . Went to the Guitar Center on Black Friday. Matty (sp?) one of the employees who assisted us in purchasing an electric guitar and amp for our teenagers. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He asked us a few questions to understand what kind of music they like to play. Also, we went to the Fender website and took a quiz to help us choose. We had lots of questions since we had no experience with electric guitars. He gave us his opinion and gave us options. After you purchase your guitar here you seem to disappear. Had issues with getting my choice of guitar from the beginning. I wanted to take home that day but after seeing the manager attempting to force the whammy bar into the unit with at least 5 different bars to no avail. Took more than 4 days to get a new one from a near by store. Once it came in and after they changed their store hours (live a hour away) they simply came outside with a tattered box and handed me it. No inspection, no asking if I had questions. It's my opinion but they lack attention to detail better customer service. I will not return here for anything. Spend the time and look as their are better places to make your choices met. It's a choice that you'll be living with so why not go to a place where you are treated better. read more

Service was inattentive, the store looked like it had been hit by a tornado (items strewn about everywhere) However they did have some nice turntables, and that is what I came in for. I waited 20 minutes for the DJ department salesperson to get off the phone, and when he did, he was unable and unwillingly to hook up a system for me to demo. I wasted an hour of my day coming to this location. You lost a sale because I was ready to buy an audio technica bluetooth turntable - I will shop at Sweetwater instead. They said they had people to tend to BUT when they were finished with them all still no help. 3 people total working on the floor, 1 at repairs for guitars and 2 at the register. The experiences I have had with the managers here is definitely better than with staff. So you might save yourself a headache and just look for one immediately. Expect to be here for at least an hour to make even the most simple purchase. Sure they have a great return policy if you find someone who knows how to complete that task on their apparently antiquated POS software. Unfortunately the managers are literally on horses making up for the completely inept staff at the cherry location. These guys are seriously right out of a stereotype of pretentious guitar store workers. I have honestly spent 20k in here in the last 2 years. Not one time has someone asked me if I could use help. Not once. I had to get a ladder myself to pull down and purchase a $1400 guitar myself. Also don't take their word for it, keep asking about inventory, back stock, coupons etc. Register staff will lie to you.
