TLDR: Typical neighborhood tavern. Excellent burgers and hand cut fries. Good service, friendly folks. Smoking allowed. Fairly busy when I arrived; mostly local folks who all seemed to know each other; when one of the patrons would leave, lots of people would say goodbye, and I don't think anybody left without stopping by two or three tables on their way out. I sat at the bar and was greeted right away by a friendly barmaid. Nice cold Shiner on draught. Even though she was just going off duty, neither she nor the gal coming on let my drink fall below a swaller before asking if I'd like another. I got up to move down the bar so that I could see the baseball game better, and the bartender said, "Don't bother, I'll switch it down here." Another example of good service. I ordered a burger and a side of fries: "Good choice!" said she. Turned out she was right. The patty was hand formed out of 80/20 or maybe even 25%. A half pound I think. It came assembled, not deconstructed. Another good sign. The bun was soft, but stout enough to hold up through the entire meal. Fries were excellent. Hand cut, and thin so they were crispy. Arrived piping, hot, and tasted like potatoes! One of the best burgers I've had in quite a while. read more

Tucked away in the corner of Beltline and Plano Rd. in Richardson and when you say Richardson it means it is smokey as hell.!although, it wasn't the case the time I was there, you could still really smell the wall and carpet attacking your nostrils with the cigarette smell. That aside the patrons and bar tender are friendly. They recognized right away that it was our first time there. Drinks are cheap and stiff. We had a couple of drinks and left. Nice neighborhood bar. Smoking is allowed, so watch out. Lots of old timers hanging around and lots of old country music playing. They carry local beers which is great. Other than that, is your classic dive with darts, games, TV, and juke box. Could be really fun in a group. Went back a second time and tried some food which came back pretty burnt (burger) and soggy (fries). An older gentleman was attempting to speak to some inebriated young women next to me and began to get a little...racy. Bartender was great as usual. Understand first of all that I am grading this on "how successfully is this place doing what it intends to do"? It intends to be an incredibly smokey neighborhood joint for locals. It does this very well. A sign on the door says "smoking encouraged", and they mean it. I wasn't smoking and I was hoarse by the end of a 3-hour session with buddies from work. 5/5 on the smoke meter. The food really decent and cheap; this is not a combination one sees in a bar very often. I had a respectable chicken fried steak plate with fries and "salad" for $7. I think they have to do this because the locals probably don't ever go home to eat, and they don't want them to die or run out of beer money in the near future. read more

Chase Place is a total dive, but I've never failed to have an awesome time there. Good crowd, decent service, amazing jukebox. It's small, so sometimes it gets pretty crowded, but there aren't a lot of assholes so it isn't a big deal. If you don't like smoke or drunks it's probably not for you, though. read more

Classic dive bar! I've been here a few times with friends and always get excellent (and pretty hilarious) service from the barstaff. They have a few beers on tap and pretty decent drink prices. Atmosphere: As you've probably read this is definitely a dive bar. One pool table, a couple of dart boards, and a few video games. Lots of televisions for a good sports bar vibe. They really do cater to smokers. This became a big issue for me. I don't mind some second-hand smoke as I do hang with smokers, but there was no fresh air for the non-smoking crowd (maybe I was the only one? haha). People: The crowd here can vary greatly. There's an older crowd that goes earlier, as the younger crowd arrives to shut the place down. Not a club scene for sure, and definitely not a lot of people looking their best. Prices: This is why I'd recommend Chase Place. Weds and Thurs night dollar beers with four dollar pitchers. Food: Haven't tried. I like bar food as much as the next guy, but I would like to keep my arteries open for the foreseeable future. Overall: I'm a nonsmoker so smelling like a dirty ashtray the remainder of the night kills me. Other than that the Weds. and Thurs. prices are great and there's usually drama-free fun to be had. read more

Chase Place is everything a real dive bar should be and more. Dim lighting? Check. Regulars glued to their stools? Check. Attentive bar staff who remember your face and drink? Check. Loud jukebox/pool table/dartboard? Check, check, and check. Rolling clouds of second hand smoke so enormous it looks like Motley Crue is about to take the stage? I can't write "check" in a large enough font to do the smoke justice. Chase Place ticks all the right boxes you want in a dive bar then adds an option you don't expect (but you'll thank the bar gods for if you've drank enough to feel loopy) in great food that, while not being healthy in any way, does hit the spot when you need a little food to soak up your excess. And, really, if you're drinking while breathing in an atmosphere that's more cigarette smoke than air then do you care much? Didn't think so. As has been mentioned by others, ad infinitum, they really do have a sign saying they encourage smoking which is probably selling point as smoking is banned at bars in Dallas. While "Enormous rolling clouds of second hand smoke" is hyperbole it's not far from the truth, so before you go just accept the fact your clothes and hair will be permeated with the smell when you leave. Just throw your clothes directly in the washer when you get home and wash your hair three or four times when you wake up and you'll be fine. The drinks really are cheap here but the selection of premium liquors isn't half bad, especially for a tiny dive hidden away in a strip mall. There are TV's behind the bar if you'd like to watch a game while turning up a few, and the regulars are incredibly friendly. I've gone to the bar to get drinks for my table and gotten involved in a conversation with a stranger so long my friends sent out a search party on more than one occasion. Karaoke on Saturday night is an experience unto itself. Even if you're like me and don't sing the people watching is a joy. I've never had a night here that wasn't fun so you won't be disappointed. With the authentic dive bar atmosphere, cheap drinks, eclectic crowd, and all the entertainment Chase Place is a great way to spend an evening. read more

I'll preface this review by saying I'm not a smoker. I don't mind people who smoke or being around smoke, but it definitely is a main accessory to the charm of Chase Place. If you cannot handle smoke, you've been warned. As far as dives go, this is a good place. I only had a drink here as I was just out with my girl and we had bar ADHD that night. They have good drink prices and pretty attentive service. There's dartboards and whichever type of hunting, bowling or golfing game strikes your fancy. I could easily see this place being great for big groups since you're not going to drop a huge amount of cash, even if you buy a round or two. I didn't delve deeper after being rejected by the bartender, but they don't serve any combo of energy drinks and alcohol here. You are welcome to bring your own, but I'm assuming they don't want to get tangled into a four loko situation. In summary, good little dive bar, ideal place for a low key night out with friends. Afterwards, pic up a bottle or seven of febreeze and you're all set. read more

Great karaoke fun on Saturday nights! Cheap drinks and stiff pours keep this little stink-hole on the top of my neighborhood Richardson bars. Honestly, I think I would go every Saturday if not for the billowing clouds of smoke, as is my bane with all Richardson bars. My precious pink lungs cannot handle the cancer cloud. The decor is amazing. It's like the set of Cheers. As you enter there is a circa-1981 map of Richardson with sponsored businesses, I don't think 1 of them is still around. There is one female bartender in the evenings that seems to be very opinionated, but it wouldn't keep me from coming back. I've been coming here for years. It's like a Cheers bar (TV Show) where there are LOTS of regulars who know each other by name. I've had just about everything on the menu and have always been satisfied (with the exception of a pizza). But my favorite is the wings. As someone who hails from where chicken wings were invented, I've been a lifelong chicken wing fan and order them at every place I first visit. Aside from my favorite place "back home" these are the best wings I've had. I like that you can smoke here and they also have Karaoke on Tuesday and Saturday nights. Great service and the food is pretty good. Wed/Thurs $1 beers is great! Jukebox goes silent when not being played, at least the few times I've been there, so you go from no noise to a loud jukebox, wish they would just let it play randomly or something. Great little neighborhood bar. They have well set up dart boards (BYO darts), touch tunes juke box, a pool table and lots of space. The booze is priced about what you'd expect for a normal bar, but the food is cheap. If you have a group of people, make sure to start with the $8 "Munchies Platter" -- It is a combination of pizza rolls, onion rings, chicken strips, fried pickles, taquitos and their home made fries. Its a big mess of fried stuff and perfect to start a night of drinking (or continue). You'll need at least 3 people to do it justice, but likely more. We also got the blackjack burger (peppered burger) which was prepared properly with a good toasted bun and a healthy portion of meat (~$5). The chicken-cheese-bacon sandwich was the highlight of what we ordered though. A simple concept but done with fresh ingredients and cooked properly, a steal at $5. Just make sure to keep in mind that this is bar food and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Service was typical for a busy bar, tonight they only had one person serving all of the tables in the bar, so it was pretty slow, but expected in a bar. She was quick to keep drinks topped off and make sure we had what we needed. This is not the smokiest place that I have been, but if you have an aversion to smoke, I would avoid it. read more

Chase Place is the perfect bar to stop off at when running around the Richardson area if you want something totally casual. You have your pools of regulars floating around but I wouldn't expect much of a "scene" from this place. Very smoky. Lots of table seating, bar seats, booths, and then more high tables leading along the wall toward the back. Classic dive bar decorations and for some reason, I cant put my finger on it, this place reminds me of the bar off of It's Always Sunny in Phil. Prices aren't bad, the staff is hit or miss depending on the night, who it is, and what sort of temperament the general guests are in. Karaoke is -always- entertaining. Always. And if there isn't karaoke and it's on the weekend, you'll find people dancing about in the space where they do karaoke. Nothing crazy and no more than a handful of people at a time. It's awesome. I usually always just order a Jack and Coke or something on tap. The Jack and Cokes are usually always nice and strong. And I mean strong. Toss a couple of those back and you'll probably find yourself slobbering over the microphone with the entire bar helping you get through your choice in song. read more

Great little bar, I had a great time, Karaoke was cool, they didn't over do it, they mixed in the "prestige worldwide" singers, with good music. Definitely a smokers bar. You will reek of tobacco after you leave. Im not a smoker, so this kinda sucked. The whole bar is full of smoke, no where to hide from it. LOL.. All in all, I would have given this bar a 5 star if it had the smoking aired out a little bit more. No dress code, if you get dressed up, you will probably be the only one. Great mix of people too. This place kicks so much ass. The drinks are cheap and the pours are heavy. As the sign on the door says, smoking is encouraged. The staff is awesome and the food is above average for a dive bar. There's a pool table, Internet jukebox, darts, slots and a Golden Tee. Lively Karaoke on Saturdays. All this and it's next door to Free Play Arcade. What more could you want? read more
