This is a Korean restaurant specializing in Korean noodle bowls. Guksu means Korean noodle soup. There are four different bowls. All 4 bowls use the same noodles. They also sell fried and boiled dumplings.
This food stall is located inside a food hall of 4 food stalls near the U of Toronto's Robarts Library.
During the soft opening period, May 23 to Jun 5, you get 15% off.
I ordered two bowls:
1. Jajangmyeon ($11.99-15%). Noodles in black bean sauce. The sauce has some small bits of pork and vegetables.
2. Dak Kalguksu ($15.49-15%). Fresh chicken (leg and thigh) in soup with garnishes.
The Korean style black bean is less strong than Chinese black bean. The little pieces of pork and vegetables were a welcome surprise. It comes with a small container of Dammuji (Korean yellow pickled radish), which I love.
The chicken was a large piece! The chicken broth was very tasty. There are shreds of cucumber, egg, and carrots. It comes with 2 small containers:
1. Korean style chilli pepper sauce. You can use this to flavour the soup if you wish.
2. Pickled cabbage with jalapeno.
I must come back to try the other two bowls!
There are 4 tables, counter seating, and outdoor patio seating.
There is no free WiFi. The food hall is semi wheelchair accessible. There are two gender-neutral washrooms, but they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking.
