    Avocado chaat
    Hrudaya S.

We went here for lunch on a Saturday. There were many people. It is a very nice, cozy and well decorated place. The food was delicious and it was the best we have had in a while. The Avocado chaat was definitely a nice twist on the fusion of flavours. The dal makhani was done perfectly and it was lick the bowl delicious. The lamb shank was cooked where the meat was fall of the bone tender. The icing on the cake is the tres leches cake! It was just melting in our mouths. The cocktails have a nice fusion twist. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

came here due to high rating from groupon! (didnt know this restaurant exist since I dont live in the area). thought it's a very unique twist for indian food (which is uncommon). ordered the avocado puri, upma fries, lamb, shrimp, butter chicken, and gulab jamun. i have to say, the food LIVES UP the hype! it taste very unique, well-balanced flavor, and has a nice kick on some dishes. even something 'common' like butter chicken or gulab jamun taste different!! (better...not overly strong or sweet but still have that bold flavor that is typical of indian cuisine). we came as soon as they were open. prompt and friendly service with explanation. HIGHLY recommended!

Gully masterfully blends Indian flavors with a twist. We were here for drinks but also had Paneer Tikka as appetizer. It was really flavourful and perfectly cooked. It has creative cocktails and warm service enhance the experience. It has good selection of beer and wines too. I would like to come back and try other food items too.

I can't remember what this was, but it was fantastic.

Food and drink by Nalin are so inventive here. And the service from Anna is top notch. We always have a great time!

Great find. This restaurant has a cute decor with a nice mural on it combining Indian and Canadian culture. I decided to go for the fall special which included one appetizer two mains and one dessert to share it also included one drink per person so you can either choose a cocktail or a mocktail, wine or beer so definitely something for everyone Lychee cocktail... Cocktail had a strong lychee taste it was sweet and enjoyable 4/5 For appetizers we try the tandoori wings and they were absolutely delicious they were grilled they did have a kick to them so if you are someone who is not big on spice be warned and then it was garnished with some onions I thought they were really flavorful and delicious 5/5 For my main I chose the curry beef and it was absolutely delicious oh my goodness I chose to have mine with a rice. I appreciate it how flavorful everything is down to the grilled green peppers or seasoned I also found that the food was light sometimes when I have Indian cuisine it can feel a little bit heavy I did not feel like I over ate the portions were great I would highly recommend this dish 5/5 For dessert we got the flourless chocolate cake it was very mild and the texture was similar kind of to mouse and then it came with some ice cream and edible gold a nice light way too and your meal 4/5 The service was great when we came the place was not busy but as we sat there at the place started to fill up and the customer service and attention to detail and remained at the same this is a new restaurant and I hope that they're able to maintain this great quality of their food and service as they continue to grow

We came here during the dinner for two promo which featured 2 entrées, 2 cocktails, and 1 shared dessert for only $39 - talk about a deal in this economy! The owner/bartender was friendly and told us it'd be a bit of a wait until our table was ready. We sat at the bar and watched the cocktails being made. You could tell care was put into each one by the level of detail in the presentation (i.e. torching the spices). We ordered the Grand Mango Margarita and Gully Martini for the drinks. For food, we opted for the Karahi Beef Curry Bowl and Smokey Chicken Tikka Kathi roll served with masala crinkle fries. Although the menu stated the curry was served with basmati rice, the waitress informed us it would be an additional $2 for the rice (strange because why would they serve the curry alone?). The well-seasoned chicken mixed with the sauce in the wrap was divine, with each bite exploding in flavour. The beef was extremely tender and delightful also. We went on a busy Saturday night where the restaurant seemed understaffed as there was only one waitress on the floor catering to the entire dining area. The owner would serve the drinks and chat with seated guests. We ordered our drinks before the food, but received them after our mains had already arrived. Other tables who arrived later seemed to receive their drinks before us also. We were patient with wait as we understood there was a 10-top party dining at the same time as us, but it was nearly 1.5 hrs until we got our food and cocktails. Overall, 5/5 for the food, 4.5/5 for drinks, 3/5 for service (may have been an off-night), but 10/5 for the price!

They currently have the $59 pp date night summer menu that offers delicious , , , and . The restaurant is cozy and close to Spadina subway station. You will be welcomed but friendly staff here. My sister and I enjoyed our visit. I highly recommend their butter chicken and rice. The appetizer like the avocado sev puri tartlets are so tasty too. Parking spot can be challenging downtown and the TTC is your best option.

Interesting newish spot on Bloor. The theme is an Indian bar with a wide and varied bar food menu. I wandered in and sat at the bar hoping to try some Indian whisky and hit the jackpot. The owner here who was working the bar was quite interesting to talk to about Indian whisky. Part of his job is to buy the whisky, and also to distribute it within the local area here in Canada. He was saying the whisky is somewhat of a commodity and has price variations both internationally and as well at LCBO. So a fantastic resource for any whisky fans out there, or ex-pats interested in having a familiar drink. I ordered the tandoori wings which were good, although the whisky was the star of my visit. Quite an interesting and varied menu, with items like Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich along with some Indian food it is a mash-up for sure. Probably the most interesting part of Gully happened just after I left. It was about 10 pm and I needed to get going and pay up. Before I moved on though, I asked the bartender about what the evening there had in store. I could see that a DJ was starting to set up. Apparently the dining tables get moved aside, chairs stacked, and Bollywood gets cranked up for dancing! As I left into the Bloor Street night, women in saris were outside and on their way in for an evening of dancing. Quite the fascinating bar and restaurant in one of the most dynamic entertainment strips in Toronto!

I would describe the atmosphere as small and cozy, a contemporary Indian bistro. Authentic flavours with a modern twist. The food was one of the best I've had and I will definitely be back again and again. The service was fantastic, served by the chef himself - such a humble and knowledgeable chef - he really goes out of his way to ensure the experience is amazing!

Either the menu is a mediocre version of the actual menu, and/or the service is dismissive once they learn you're there for the 'licious set. Black + Blue had a $65 dinner menu which is pretty good for the options available. The portions were generous but the service was where things really stood out. We were treated so incredibly well by all the staff. Dawn was our server and she was so lovely! We really felt taken care of. I've never had a restaurant server look at the type of pant I was wearing and change my table napkin to a black one to match my dark pants. Nor do I remember a restaurant heating up the mug a cappuccino comes in to ensure it stays nice and warm. As for food, we were allowed to have some partake in Summerlicious and some not. I had the Summerlicious menu and picked the Wagyu Tartare, Surf and Turf, and Buttercake. Great portions, delicious food. My favourite was the Buttercake. We also had happy hour drinks, oysters, a prime rib, and caesar salad. If I were to recommend something, get the $78 prime rib which is 14 oz, perfectly seasoned, and comes with glazed carrots and the most amazing mashed potatoes I've ever had.

The food was incredible- one our tastebuds won't forget! Our group of 5 started with fresh sushi and sashimi, table side Caesar salad and the softest brioche served with sun-dried tomato butter that was perfect in every way. Main course: Australian wagyu ribeye that we didn't even have to chew plus a strip loin and beef Wellington (which was maybe the only thing I don't need to order again, but still delicious). All the sides were amazing and finally sticky toffee pudding and butter cake to put us in a complete food coma. Wouldn't change a thing about this meal. We cannot thank you enough Tyler (and Toronto!!)!

I found myself wanting to try most of the cocktails, which is a rarity. We got the Strawberry Tetsu to start (inspired by Uncle Tetsu's Japanese cheesecake), along with the Cloudy Oolong (tea-based cocktail with a salted caramel cheese foam). The Strawberry Tetsu tasted like a dessert and was delicious, with a graham cracker crumble rim. The Cloudy Oolong had a strong tea taste which I loved, as sometimes the tea can get lost in a cocktail. The foam on top was addicting and paired nicely with it, similar to a bubble tea. Next, I had the Burnt Yuzu which was light and refreshing from the citrus. The bar is hidden behind Misfit Ice Cream, with a speakeasy vibe to the interior. Large windows line one wall with a view to the exterior, but are tinted enough that people walking by cannot see in. I've been wanting to try LOUIX LOUIS for the longest time, so when the opportunity came up to visit…read moreduring Summerlicious, I knew I had to finally check it out. Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!

Perched high above the bustle of downtown Toronto, LOUIX LOUIS makes a compelling first impression…read more The dining room is genuinely handsome -- a study in polished Art Deco glamour softened by sweeping city views that lend every table a sense of occasion. On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
