I seriously love eating here. Met up with my muslim friend for dinner with her 2 kids and mom. She was scared the menu was all pork. But we got galbi, seafood pancake and spicy stir fry of squid! The galbi meat quality is really good. It's the high quality kind where the meat sticks to the bone, it is not detached. Wonderfully marinated, there is joy in every bite! The spicy squid was so flavorful, seriously addicting. Their banchans were amazing (as usual). They are so kind about the refills. We loved it all. The kimchi is homemade, you can taste it! I also got a sullung tang (beef bone broth soup). I didn't get to eat much at the table, so I packed it to go. Their both broths are so legit. When I refrigerated it, it was packed with collagen, all turned jello like! Other restaurants cut corners using milk or creamer to make it milky, but this place does it right! This was my first time visiting after a golf club gathering. Unfortunately, my overall impression wasn't very positive. After we ordered our food, it took quite a long time to come out, and the taste was pretty average and predictable. The staff seemed to be moving quickly, but it wasn't particularly busy at the time, so the slow service was a bit surprising. Tucked away and not very prominent albeit located on a bustling Colima Blvd, this home style Korean restaurant has some nice dishes to offer. Galbi gal that I am, I've gone twice for the smoky, sweet, caramelized short ribs and their side dishes. Ok, kind or one particular side dish that I really crave but can't find normally is this Korean spinach banchan, I think it's called sigeumchi-namul. It's cold, crisp, and refreshingly delicious. Their ssamjang and kimchi are really good too, the ssamjang a lighter sweet, savory flavor and kimchi is nice and fresh. I left after trying them the first time last week and was hungering for the spinach side dishe again days later but held off until it was Friday, ugh. I've tasted their Ox tail soup (think they are also known for this), broth was light yet rich, if it wasn't for the ribs and cold noodles, but I'll get it next time. Definitely coming back as the collagen in that broth is a must! Good hot barley tea to wash down the food, some come for the soju too. I'm not as familiar with Korean food, so this was a nice experience. Restaurant itself gives a feel of authentic Korean food. Many pictures of dishes in the wall and the servers here, though somewhat limited in English, are very friendly and polite. I got the morning soup which was hot and satisfying. The Ox Bone Soup here is super satisfying! I had the mixed soup that came with tender brisket and beef stomach. Their soup is amazingly rich and takes on a creamy consistency. It's an amazing and comforting experience dipping rice into the hot broth. Each bite was better than the last! The restaurant was a bit empty on a Wednesday night, so there was plenty of seating. I seeked out a new place because the other places that I've been going to for this soup has been skimping out on the side dishes. The soup was pretty good. Everything was super delicious, we have the Beef Suyuk hot pot, the meat was melt in your mouth, the Tendons, beef tounge and other organ meat are so tender. Their dipping sauce was amazing. The broth was really silky, taste amazing. They even refilled our broth for free because we love it so much. The Banchan was really good as well, you know a good restaurant from their banchan. It's good food and great atmosphere, its just a little pricey for what you get. The service is good and friendly, and the atmosphere is like you are walking into a restaraunt in Seoul. My family of 4 went at lunchtime and ordered the Korean seafood pancake, Grilled angus short ribs bbq, and Kong guksu. The seafood pancake was chock full of filling of veggies and delicious octopus. The short ribs were tender and wonderfully seasoned. The Kong guksu was chewy and delicious. The waitresses were friendly and service was quick. The banchans were delicious as well. I went to Gungjung Seolleongtang today because Sunnongdan was closed. I decided to order oxtail soup to-go. Unfortunately, it was not the best oxtail soup I've had. The meat was quite stuck to the bones and difficult to separate, and the texture was tough and chewy, making it challenging to eat. It seemed as though low-quality oxtails were added to the seolleongtang broth. Additionally, the kimchi did not meet my expectations either. Great service, amazing Galbi and seollongtang (ox bone broth beef soup) and good service! We just left this cute family run restaurant. It was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was not too busy so we got seated promptly by the sweet older lady that was working there. The Galbi is thick cut with an amazing flavor and comes with short grain Korean rice and delicious banchan dishes. The beef noodle soup comes with noodles and sliced green onions and salt which you add yourself. The lady serving us was cute and instructed us how to season the soup, and so we followed her instructions and it was pretty good. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food. The ambiance is kinda older and not updated, but it doesn't affect the flavor of the food at all. Bathrooms were clean in the back too. I highly recommend! read more

It contains beef and small amount of noodle. It does also come with rice. The Sulrungtang comes with a pack of salt and hot sauce. You'd want to add them because the soup itself taste like water. I think this place is extremely discriminatory and I would not recommend it. I came here and was told the kitchen was closed although I watched the lady serve 2 tables, 4 people, keep their doors open and continue to operate to those persons who were Korean. Although I am not Korean I am definitely a part of the local community and am Asian Pacific Islander. I think any type of blatant discrimination is awful! I've been coming here since 2015, and it was good then, but under the recent new ownership omg it's next level. This is hands down one of the most slept on Korean restaurants in the area that surpasses much of what you can find in KTown. The ox bone soup is gloriously rich, and you can't forget about the short rib soup either where meat just falls right off the bone. Their bosam is a must order as well, and it comes with their special house kimchi that'll knock your socks off. Hell, even their cold noodles are a 10/10. Service has improved dramatically as of late. Servers are very friendly and attentive, and they'll refill banchan (your side dishes) as you finish them or upon request. You'll mostly see boomers and 40+ here, but that's because they know traditional gems when they see one. Younger generations are totally missing out on an incredible experience. Gungjung Sulrungtang is a little hidden gem at the edge of Rowland Heights where I've eaten one of the best Galbitang I've ever had before. They're located in the same plaza as Boba Time (now Cafe BT I think?) and have plenty of parking. The bf and I ordered the Morning Soup as well as Galbitang and started our meal off with their banchan. This time they gave us radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, some sort of greens, and boiled cabbage with their house soybean paste. I believe that refills for banchan are free, so if there's anything you want more of you should definitely asked for more! They occasionally switch up the side dishes so you're in for a mini surprise every time you visit. The Galbitang was beautifully seasoned and tasted like home cooking, which made it perfect for a cold day. They serve it with a little container of sauce with horseradish (I think) to dip the horseradish in. Apparently their kitchen closes at 8:00pm so if you're looking to dine in, I recommend coming in before 7:30pm! Their service is fine, nothing to write home to your mama about, which I think is totally normal for authentic spots with good food lol. read more

Food was okay, but service was HORRIBLE. This place was one we frequented over the years whenever we visit the area. When we came in this time, we expected the same exceptional quality in food and service as we usually did. Everything seemed fine up until the point we had to pay the bill. As soon as I pay and leave a reasonable percentage of the total bill as tip, the servers here stop me and rudely start demanding more. What kind of place DEMANDS us to leave more tip than the amount we already generously left? Last time I checked, it's the customers discretion as to how much they leave. That being said, there's no need to yell at me and embarrass me in front of other customers as if I DIDN't leave any tip. Not sure if it's because of new management but this place has gotten progressively worse and I WILL NOT BE RETURNING. DON'T COME HERE, THERE ARE BETTER KOREAN RESTAURANTS IN OC/LA. Again, food is okay. The food is standard for what it is. If the food is average, there should be an emphasis in service should be what makes people want to come back.
