    Pork Chop Plate

Located in the old CJs BBQ on the Southside of Mocksville. Gunter's is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner. American, Southern, comfort food on the menu. Check out the daily specials. Pleasantly surprised by Gunter's. Stopped for dinner and had the pork chops, with green beans and okra. Really good. We were going to try the BBQ but they had already ran out. As other locals have stated, Gunter's is similar to Millers and Mocksville Family Restaurant. Just on a different side of town. Recommend.

It's nice to have a family restaurant on this side of town (relative to Miller's) where you can get an omelet, biscuits and gravy, and a coffee for under $10. I've been 3 times since Gunter's took over the space from CJ's Barbeque, all for breakfast, and have come away satisfied every time. The breakfast sandwiches are substantial. The waitstaff are very attentive, all of them looking out for every table. Bring your cash because they add 4% for credit card charges.

Great eggs and bacon special. Food has always been hot and good each time I have dined in.

Awesome little place with great home-cooking and friendly service. Will definitely visit here again when we're in the area.

Update: ordered a #8 and their new hot Italian sub with pepper relish…read more Subs were ready for pick up when I arrived and I was even greeted by the staff behind the counter when I walked in. My #8 was excellent. Veggies were cold and crisp and the meats were piled high. Bacon was crisp and not too much mayo. Perfect. However, the star of the show was the new hot Italian sub I got for my wife. The meats are chopped which makes it easy to get a good bite. The pepper relish took this sub to a new level. Added a little bit of pickle tartness and just the right amount of heat. My wife was amazed. She said, and I quote: "This is the best Italian sub I've ever eaten". Usually when I ask her how her food is at any eatery, she usually says "ok" or "it's good". Her praise of this new sub should not be taken lightly but should be revered as a rare event in the history of our world. RUN, do not walk to your nearest Jersey Mike's and give the new hot Italian sub a try. I took a bite. It's not hype folks. It's really good.

Order was crossed with another one. Asked it to be remade. After waiting extra time and driving home, checked the reorder and again- incorrect. I brought it back a second time and asked they be remade correctly. First- I was offered a refund. I said no- make them the way they are ordered. Waited while they are being redone. I understand a mistake but a second one on top of the first is unfortunate. This is the second time in two weeks that our order was incorrect, and the first time I am complaining about it. These folks need to be paying attention to the orders they are making. Store is clean- no complaints on the store- just these kids need to be more attentive to what they are doing. Finally- the third time was the charm. Gotta give it 4 stars tonight- 3 for the experience - but 5 for the sandwiches. When they are right they are delicious!

My youngest was home from college for the weekend and she introduced me to Cookout. The Mocksville location is take-out only. Some Cookouts offer dine-in as well. My daughter has been to Cookouts many times so she is a veteran of how to navigate the menu. My suggestion to you is to go online and study their menu and different options how to order. You'll thank me later. Anyway, I ordered a tray, it comes with a main dish and two sides. I got the big double burger with Cajun fries and cheese bites and a Diet Coke. My daughter ordered the same with a sweet tea. I chose lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup and mayo as toppings. I have to say, the burger, which came with two patties was very good. Nice chargrill flavor and the toppings were fresh and crisp. The fries appear to be fresh-cut and were, well, fries. The cheese bites were very crisp and tasty. The drive thru process was very quick. Our order was taken and filled in a timely manner. The staff was friendly and efficient. All in all it was a positive experience. And the best part? My daughter and I had a good lunch all for $18 for both is us. The burger is the best fast food burger in Davie County. It's not even close. I know I'm late to the Cookout party but if you haven't tried them, you need to.

It is right off the I40 main Mocksville exit (exit 170 I believe). Large packing lot. Drive thru is efficient. Food is standard Cookout items. Great shakes. Decent burgers and dogs. Right now this Cookout isn't as crowded as most but I expect that to change in the future.

It's a smaller spot with the ordering counter and kitchen in the back and maybe seating for 26 or so. The folks behind the counter were friendly and the order process was simple. I got their sandwich special, the Buffalo Soldier. It was chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomato, blue cheese, and ranch on ciabatta. I made it a combo with chips and a soda. With tip I think the total was around $17. That was a touch more expensive than I was expecting especially with just a bag of chips on the side. The sandwich was good. Between the blue cheese and the ranch it was really creamy and most of the toppings slide off with the second bite. I don't mind a mess though! The ciabatta bread was the perfect compliment for the sandwich. It was a cute spot and I especially liked the creative sandwich names. I'd go back and try the chicken ceasar wrap next time.
