Such a disappointing experience. Deviated from our normal conshy hot spots to try sushi night. Arrived at 8:35. Waited 10 min for acknowledgement in the lobby. Upon being seated, which was only indoors at this point, we sat at our table for another 10 minutes for a server. When we were finally acknowledged, the sushi deal was over. Great food, poor service! Came here on a Saturday afternoon, around 2pm. The place was definitely steady but my not overly packed. We had family members sit down first and they were told that they're short staffed. (Perfectly fine, we will order all at once and make sure we ask for everything so they're not running back and forth) The bartender came to take our order, my boyfriend and I was sharing appetizers so he ordered us the Buffalo Chicken Wings and Stella's Chicken Rolls. Went on a whole spiel of who was working upstairs. It was definitely uncomfortable, all he needed was to tell me no, which I had even explained to him it's no issue if they can't. So to summarize it, do not count of good service here. I understand being extremely busy and short staffed, there was no need for the attitude. He also gave my boyfriend an attitude because he thought my boyfriend was ordering a beer when he was just looking around so he got short with him regarding what he wanted to drink. The vibe was definitely a "I'm doing you a favor by serving you". The food was on point. Even though we only ordered appetizers, both were very good. We ordered Buffalo Chicken Wings, cooked perfectly, crispy and meaty. The ranch dipping sauce was very good, I loved that it was not runny and the perfect consistency. The absolutely star of the show were the Stella's Chicken Rolls. Could eat a few plate full of those. They were filled with chicken thighs which are marinated and sautéed in hot sauce, jalapeños, and copper sharp cheese. Wow, bursting of flavors! Good food, bad prices, poor service. This spot has great potential and a great kitchen, yet the consistent disorganization, rude service, and high prices hinder it. I lived down the street for several years and quit going since every time I walked in and ordered, it seemed to be a inconvenience for the staff. Very unwelcoming and honestly turned me away. Whether you go for dinner or to the bar, it always takes forever for the staff to recognize you are there and willing to spend money! Happened to hear about this place on a local radio station and looked up their menu and couldn't wait to give it a try. We decided to go with some friends, so there were 8 of us (4 adults and 4 kids) and we did make reservations ahead of time. Initially we were told we couldn't make a reservation for 8 as they didn't have any tables that could accommodate that size but when I called back a few days later, they took our reservation for 8 without question. We went with one of their private rooms and the table was really meant more for 6 but we squeezed 8 around it. It was nice being in our own private room and each room is uniquely decorated. Even though it's a private room, it's not quiet. Overall, it's pretty noisy in there. Their was a TV in the room (no sound) but music was blaring throughout the place. It did make it a little tough to have a conversation. Food was really good and fresh and portion sizes large! We started with the guacamole and mozzarella wedges which was all quickly devoured. For my entree, I went with the hearty Thai chicken salad and had plenty for leftovers the next day! My wife had the shrimp and fish tacos which she said was some of the best she has had and they were able to accommodate her gluten-free allergy by swapping out the tortillas for corn. My son loved his Wowee Burger. We wanted to try their desserts, but we were so full that we had to take a pass on this visit. Service was very good throughout. The biggest issue here is parking. They don't have a dedicated lot so it's parallel parking in the street, but we struggled to find an open spot and wound up parking 4-5 blocks away. There is a church across the street from them that said church parking only but our waitress said we could have parked there as well. We will definitely be back! read more

Went here around 930 with some coworkers on a Wednesday night. It's by far the easiest bar to walk to from our apartments. We sat ourselves next to the bar and were quickly greeted by a bartender/server. Kitchen was closing soon, so we grabbed multiple appetizers to share. The poutine fries looked like your classic take on the dish, and everyone enjoyed it. Same goes for the nachos. Classic take and enjoyable, but nothing different from your usual. The cheese curds and bacon balls of fire both looked deceptively similar.... both fried and delicious. The bacon balls were definitively not too spicy. I would absolutely get them again because how can bacon fried with cheese ever disappoint you. The french onion soup was definitely not hot enough. I like that crusted on the side from a nice broil cheese and it was more hot and stringy cheese. The flavor was there and I ate all of it though. For beers we got yeungling Oktoberfest and a pumpkin beer I can't find on their draft list anymore but was GREAT. Atmosphere was casual and we enjoyed the music and the staff a lot. I love going to Guppy's! The atmosphere is fun, the employees are super nice, and the food and drinks are delicious. Every time I come here they don't disappoint. Guppy's was the first stop in a friend's birthday bar crawl this past Saturday. We invaded promptly as they opened (5 PM). This modestly-sized, informal corner spot has cushy seating, appealing decor, and a fun selection of beer. This place has an awesome name - how can you beat "Guppy's Good Times" - and our bartender (John) was just as awesome. My biggest issue with Guppy's is their poor service. I tried to give it a few chances and not judge it by one "bad" experience but each time I gave it a chance -- it disappoints and isn't such a "good time". Let's start with the service - it's slow and some of the servers and bartenders are NOT friendly and show a lack of care or attention. The one male bartender with the tattoos has a grumpy attitude and just doesn't seem to care about a darn thing. I think other people have mentioned about that guy here. A simple hi/hello or how are you guys can go a long way if you're sitting at the bar... if we saw from their social media that they have a special and ask questions about it they don't know what the specials are or what's included or not. They could pass your table multiple times and not acknowledge you or refill water or ask if you want/need anything. It's like they're forced to come work there and and forced to get your order. I agree with the other folks who've left a similar review experience. feel like this place could have a lot more potential if management stepped it up and did something about some of the reviews that have a reoccurring issue. I would avoid this place but know what I'm expecting other times I do come in. I'd rather hit up Boathouse and the other bars/restaurants nearby. The food is alright and decent -- the service can be stepped up thats all. And that can really have an impact if more and more people end up not coming in. read more

Guppy's has to be classified as a gastropub, but it IS an unpretentious one. I know of no other establishment on the planet where you can get great sushi AND a world class cheesesteak. They use locally sourced ingredients (like Conshohocken Bakery rolls, made a stone's throw away) even for burgers. Great craft beer selection, an interesting menu, specials, and everything is very reasonable priced. Hard to find, but worth seeking out. As to reviews saying the bartenders were unfriendly, I'd have thought the same until I engaged one in conversation. I found them brutally efficient in doing their jobs, but utterly charming and sweet once you begin a conversation. A GREAT professional bartender will give you space when you need it and a friendly chat when you want it. This is not my closest tappie, but I will drive the extra 20 minutes making this a destination. read more

Inside...also very unassuming...not much to it really...they have a main bar area, then 2 smaller rooms off of the bar, where we chose to sit. The main bar area wasn't full, but some of the patrons were singing so loudly(garth brooks, friends in low places) it certainly sounded like it was packed! Some locals having fun on a hot summer night...I'm fine with it, especially if I can distance myself from it by sitting in another section of the bar! Decent beer selection, service was friendly and prompt. The bartender was also our server and had no problem taking care of us as well as the rowdy crowd on the other side of the bar. Stopped back to check on us and get us drinks during our brief stay...I had the burger which appears to be a hand formed patty and was quite delicious! I highly recommend you try one! My wife had the Kathy Romano wrap (grilled chicken, mozzarella, guacamole, chipotle cream with a side salad) and enjoyed it thoroughly! We were very impressed with the food here! Would have never thought a sushi place would be tucked into a place like this and also make good quality sushi, but they do! Tuesday lunches they have a buy one get one on rolls which allows you to get one specialty roll and one normal roll for the price of the specialty roll. One downside is that most specialty rolls have spicy tuna in them, would love to see a little more variety there.
