A cute picture from some kid that was hanging that told us we were in the right place

Re-doing this because my review double posted. My kids and I came here because it was close to our Airbnb that we stayed at while visiting NYC. As we walked in, we saw the cute little picture from a kid and I knew we had found a gem in this nondescript little place. My oldest son wanted sweet tea, which was not on the menu. The guy who took our order (we assumed he was Gus or the owner of the restaurant) said he had just made a fresh batch of tea and he would add sugar to it. He did that when he didn't need to because there were sugar packets on the table that we easily could have used. The service was exceptional. My youngest ordered french toast and was filled up (a 14 year old boy!). I ordered the tomato and feta omelette and home fries. Added in some onions and it was so hearty and delicious. My daughter couldn't finish her big fluffy pancakes! All in all, we loved this place and came back a second time to eat right before we left NYC for home. If I lived here, I would eat here regularly. Definitely recommend!

I wouldn't quite call this an American grill. I was served beverages in disposable cups and there was practically no service and nobody to see if I needed anything during my meal. The diner was cold which didn't help. The prices were reasonable though.

2 Eggs, Any Style with Corned Beef Hash

Very cozy place for a weekend brunch. When you sit in the restaurant you can hear the waitress (maybe the owner actually) talking and laughing with her regular guests. It's just traditional diner style American food so you can't go wrong with that. We ordered pancakes with bacon and two eggs with beef hash. The pancakes were really fluffy and they were so big!!! Beef hash brown was pretty tasty too. I wish they have better coffee, that's the only complaint.

Your typical neighborhood diner spot. Servers are friendly and accommodating. Food comes quickly and consistent. My favorite here is their corned beef hash. They cook it so that it's crispy on the edges which is my preference. Home fries are flavorful and delicious -- I always ask for well done.

My favorite diner in the neighborhood. The food is quick and easy but very tasty. Good in and out experience without spending too much .

The bowl was packed with flavor and made with some of the best, freshest ingredients. And the mac & cheese? Creamy, delicious, and completely vegan. It lacked absolutely nothing except, you know, the animal products.

Aunts et Uncles: Vegan food that doesn't need a disclaimer…read more Baby, that loaded baked potato?! One of the best things I've eaten at a vegan restaurant. Period. A strong 9.5/10, and I don't hand those out casually. The peanut butter cauliflower was a close second--absolutely delicious, just a little pricey for the portion. The lasagna was a solid 8/10. Flavorful and hefty despite its lighter ingredients. Unless you're skipping appetizers, prepare for leftovers. Fair warning: it's saucy and doesn't travel particularly well. I also noticed an aftertaste I couldn't quite identify, but nothing that ruined the dish. The mac and cheese? A 6/10 for me. The flavor fell flat, though my dinner companions thought it was decent for vegan food. They also loved their burger and the gorgeous steak-style sandwich with chimichurri and avocado. The sandwich looked delicious, but the portion didn't quite justify the price for me. Now, the sorrel cocktail? A 9/10. Easily. What would make it a 10? A bit more alcohol. I couldn't really taste any. It gave mocktail. My girls did enjoy their wine, though! Service was very warm and friendly, although the packed crowd meant extended waits once we placed our orders. The space is beautiful, cozy, and elevated, but cramped in many areas. Between counter ordering and table service, expect people moving around you. Some patrons could use a gentle reminder that their behinds are not a complimentary side dish. The aesthetics are beautiful, the bathroom was cute and clean, and there's a small outdoor patio out front. They even had a DJ bringing block-party energy during our visit! I could easily see myself returning for breakfast, brunch, or a little café workday. What I love most, though, is the community-centered spirit and how the owners' partnership and love story are woven into the space. My final word: I judge vegan food by the same standards as everything else. No participation trophies just because it's plant-based. My ultimate test? Would I order it again, and would I return to the restaurant? Aunts et Uncles didn't need a vegan consolation prize or watered-down standards. Some dishes could use tweaking, and the portions don't always match the prices, but the standouts absolutely hold their own against non-vegan food. I'm already plotting my return. That loaded potato and I have unfinished business.

I ordered an avocado bagel on seven grain. It was all delicious. There was lettuce and cucumber that was not listed on the menu, but that's ok. The whole thing had a lemony flavor that normally I don't like, but it went well with the other flavors. The egg was over medium, which they didn't ask me how I wanted, but I'm sure they'd change it if you asked. They were very responsive, polite, and quick.

The setup is a little different from a full-service restaurant. You order at the counter, let the staff know if you're dining in or getting your order to go. If dining in, then find a table and wait for your name to be called. If you're seated farther away, they'll usually bring your food to you. For drinks, it's best to stay near the baristas towards the front of the store since those are typically called out separately. I ordered the Madeline omelette without the jalapeños. It was good overall but it could have used a little more salt. I also tried the matcha latte (which tasted a bit too milky) and I had to add extra sweetener, so I'd probably try a different drink next time. The pastries, especially the apple strudel and Boston cream donut, were both really good. Highly recommend the apple strudel.
