Had a great time at GusGus! The inside is a cool vibe, can definitely get loud in there but overall great atmosphere. They also have patio seating. Service was a little slow but everyone was so kind and I was catching up with a friend so it didn't bother us. Just something to keep in mind if you're on a time crunch. The food.. so good! This is one where I'll say the Cheeseburger hype is 1000% valid. It's so good. Highly recommend! I also got the Pink Moon cocktail to drink and would get it again. Delicious drink!

We are new to St. Paul and this place will be tough to beat! We shared the hand pie to start. The pastry had perfect crisp flaky texture and the savory and salty mix of the cheese and demi glaze were delectable. Next we had mussels which were also amazing. The white wine broth was seasoned beautifully and soaking it up with the accompanying crusty bread was divine. For our main we shared the gnocchi with mushrooms and asparagus. The sauce was the perfect mix of creamy, lemony, and salty. The textures and tastes were simply perfect. We didn't save room for dessert but got the piña colada sorbet anyway. The sorbet was delicious but the toasted coconut is what made the dish our fourth 10/10. The service was kind, quick, and courteous. The ambience was close and talkative but cute. There were also some nice seats on the patio which were quieter and also very cute. We will be back. Often.

Made a reservation for a birthday and waited a while before we were seated. Ordered mussels, brussel sprouts, lengua sliders and sea bass. Felt everything was not bad but on the salty side. My favorite dish is probably the brussel sprouts. We also ordered two cocktail drinks, I liked the pink moon. It was a small space and the tables were pretty close to each other. We also did the jello shots, but they were just ok.

Magical experience. Be prepared to be blown away by the food at GusGus. This is truly one of the best restaurants in Minnesota. I say this as someone who can be hard on the food here. GusGus does not disappoint. It's an intimate space where you feel like you're in the mix of things. The service was good. They have NA bubbly as well as drinks. We ordered a few items - the tartar to start, followed by the ribeye, then the burger, and the rhubarb crème brûlée pie. 10/10. Really delicious. I will be back and bringing my guests.

What a great little spot! And when I say little, I mean it's a tiny restaurant, located on the ground floor of an apartment building. But they cram people into this space and certainly make it work. Great service, very friendly and knowledgeable on their menu and drinks. They have a full bar, and a small wine selection. But the food was what it was all about! The burger and fries were amazing! We also shared some brussel sprouts and they were delicious! The oxtail poutine was rich and savory, made with gnocchi instead of fries and it was a fantastic twist to poutine. Make a reservation if you want to guarantee a seat, otherwise you may be waiting for a table. But if you do have to wait, it's worth it all the way!

We had such a nice dinner on the patio at Gus Gus. The beautiful weather definitely helped make this a great visit to a very cozy neighborhood restaurant. We tried a wide variety of their apps and shareable plates which covered a wide variety of culinary ideas, all of which were well executed. The grilled prawns, Brussels sprouts, and scallops were all lovely for the summery atmosphere. They also have some fun quirky items, like jello shots and corn nuts! Our server was very friendly and made time to answer our questions on the menu and humor my dad showing her his aquarium live stream - truly a gem of a person. I was so excited to eat the food that I forgot to take photos of most of it, which should speak for itself!

Happy hour at Gus Gus is LIT! I didn't take the best pictures because looking around I was the only jerk off taking pictures of my food so the aesthetic isn't there but let me tell you! Everything on the menu sounded so good that we had to try a little bit of everything. CHIPS speck, créme fraiche & smoked salt & caviar FRIES bagna cauda aioli CHILI CHEESE FRIES BRUSSELS SPROUTS fish sauce vinaigrette, peanuts & pickled peppers THE CHEESEBURGER caramelized onion, mustard aioli w/fries LENGUA SLIDERS pepperoncini, provolone & demi SHISHITO PEPPERS Cotija cream sauce Everything tasted delicious we were all very impressed with the menu. Our favorite happy hour items were the lengua sliders, so tender and flavorful on a buttery crispy brioche bun and I personally loved the Brussels sprouts - they were packed with flavor. The burger *smothered in onions* was also very good. The fries were also great along with the chili cheese fries but if I were to order again I'd skip the regular fries and would order the chili cheese fries with the aoli because that combo was fantastic. Our friends ordered the fish entree and the prawns, both were ranting and raving about the sauces and the flavors of their dishes. Our waitress was fabulous - she was bubbly and friendly and service overall was really fast considering how busy they were.

Went to GusGus for dinner tonight with my husband. It was our first visit, and we both left really impressed. The space is small, dimly lit, and has a cozy, intimate vibe. Service was excellent from start to finish. I started with the Birds Aren't Real cocktail, which was strong in the best way and really well-balanced. My husband ordered the Old Fashioned and noted he was pleasantly surprised by the size and enjoyed it overall. For appetizers, we chose the Beef Tartare and the Grilled Prawns. Both were standouts. My husband normally doesn't care for tartare, but even he liked this one -- packed with flavor and served on incredibly good bread. The prawns ended up being our favorite dish of the night. They were perfectly grilled and paired with a Malta sauce that was absolutely fantastic. For my entrée, I ordered the Scallops with Lemon Risotto. The scallops were cooked perfectly, but the risotto leaned a bit too lemon-forward and slightly overpowered the dish. Still, I enjoyed it. My husband went with the Rib-Eye and Brussels Sprouts. The steak had great seasoning but was a little tough. The Brussels sprouts, on the other hand, were outstanding -- full of flavor with a mix of mild heat, tanginess, and saltiness. The fish sauce added a really nice depth. Overall, we both felt the appetizers and sides stole the show, but the entrées were still very good. We wrapped up dinner with the When Doves Cry cocktail, which we both loved -- even more than our first drinks. We'll definitely be back. Next time we're eyeing the Taleggio Hand Pie, the Mussels, and I'll probably give the Gnocchi a try as well. GusGus is absolutely worth returning to.

We had a great time here. Friendly service, an intimate atmosphere, and a creative menu that immediately grabbed our attention. We started with the chips with speck, crème fraîche, and smoked salt, which ended up being the star of the meal. The chips were thin, crisp, and perfectly salted. The tangy crème fraîche and savory speck balanced everything so well. Simple, but executed with real intention. The poutine was a fun idea with fried gnocchi in place of fries. The texture was perfect with a crisp exterior and soft center. The overall dish felt a bit too heavy, though. With both the gnocchi and the cheese curds, it needed something bright to cut through all that richness. The cheeseburger was solid and seasoned well. The patty was juicy and flavorful. The only thing missing was crispier edges to take it to the next level. It covers the basics and tastes good, but it did not have anything that made it stand out. We ordered the Spritz Salato and it was refreshing with a nice herbal bitterness from the Amaro and sherry. It paired really well with the snacks. The only real disappointment was the French toast dessert. We had seen it on their website and were excited to try it, but it was not on the dessert menu during our visit.

Might be the best cheeseburger I've ever eaten. The cake was phenomenal as well. We made reservations. Plan for finding parking but it's doable! The service was spot on. The drinks were fabulous. I'd recommend to others and can't wait to return.

Lovely ambiance, perfect for a romantic date and great conversation. As much as I enjoyed the candlelit table, the food also was just as amazing. I ordered the gnocchi with sweet corn beurre blanc, grilled corn, oyster mushrooms & lemon mascarpone. The flavors complemented each other very well. I really loved the complexity of the dish, with the gnocchi cooked to perfection, zesty mascarpone, and saltiness from the oyster mushrooms. When I am in the area again would love to come back to try something new.

Wow!!! Had dinner at Gus Gus last night and already can't wait to go back for more. The scallops with lemon risotto were absolutely incredible. Really nice wine list, although lean, I had no troubles finding great wines to pair with each course. Service from Haley was genuinely warm and hospitable, you can tell the staff actually like their jobs and who can blame them with such delicious food. Happy hour was buzzing and definitely on the louder side but did not detract from an excellent experience.

I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.

For this venue, I would recommend the buddy system or Uber. The venue has a normal bouncer, ID check and tickets can be purchased in advance via the AXS app or onsite. Once inside, the venue is breathable and long. The stage sits at the opposite side of entry and there is a long bar on the side wall, a few tables in the back, and then standing room for most concerts. My friend and I ordered a drink from the bar and then weaseled our way to the front to support CPC. The sound, lighting and stage was the best! We had a great time. So, if you are from out of town, I'd find a local spot to hang out instead because I have made that mistake before when I go to a new spot, and usually when I travel I'd like to find something local instead of a bar in the WF! However, if you are local, and need a chill neighborhood place to hang out, I think you'd be surprised how lovely the Selby bar is. Also, it's just nice to hang out somewhere that is not too dark like a usual bar might be. First, the specials! They are amazing. They always have really, ridiculously good beer and/or wine specials. See pic. Then, in addition, there are happy hour specials 4-6 pm that offer additional deals. But the daily specials are really good so even if you are getting there before or after HH don't feel like you will miss out! They have a great selection of MN beers - usually a few surly selections, lift bridge, and others. They usually have a good variety of beer styles and sometimes a cider on draft. Then, the food: they have a menu that has burgers, including the Beyond Vegan burger, for $10 with fries. They also have some apps and different veggie bowls you can add protein to. If you were already thinking of eating at Whole Foods then you probably won't spend much more eating here but that all depends on what you like and what deals are around. I have often gotten the vegan burger and I always love it. You can also bring in some food from the Whole Foods deli but be courteous and clean up if you leave a big mess of food they didn't serve you! Finally, the staff. The bartenders are really chill. Be nice to them and tip as you would at a bar! The bar takes credit cards or cash but no Whole Foods gift cards. Be nice to the Whole Foods employees in general! I've yet to try a bad menu item, meet a cranky staff person or sit in a bad spot in the restaurant. Whether you're inside or outside on the patio (summer or winter), you're bound to find the best seat in the house. The staff is incredible, from the front host's that seat you quickly, often asking how your day is going, to the servers who are quick to remember a familiar face. They are kind about offering suggestions, quick to help each other out, and they genuinely know and appreciate the menu. Now for the food. Since I am a diehard burger gal, I immediately went for the All Tapped Up Burger. It is a very unique twist on a BBQ bacon cheeseburger, as the bourbon bacon jam is a sticky, smoky delight that that perfectly compliments the salty creaminess of the cheddar, the juiciness of the burger, and the crispness of the iceberg. The truffle aioli is a lovely touch that perfectly rounds out this wonderful masterpiece, served on a warm, tender brioche bun. I love this burger so much, it was all I ordered my first five visits there. When I finally ventured off, I started simply by asking different staff members what their favorites menu items were. Here's my journey so far: Chips & Queso- This is amazing, and not nearly as simple as it sounds. At home for most people, that's a bag of Tostito's and a loaf of Velveeta. At Groveland Tap, the gorgeous Tajin tortilla chips are served with a spicy cheese sauce that is LOADED with chorizo sausage. It comes with pico de gallo, guac, and salsa macha. Enough for two people, easily! Pierogies- These are as delicious as pierogies get. They are soft, delicate, and stuffed with potato-cheddar. They serve it with a horseradish cream that is supposed to be delectable, but next time I might see if they have a small cup of sauerkraut back in the kitchen. Blue Plate Wings- I tried the bone-in wings with the lemon-garlic parmesan, and they were crispy, yet tender, and the sauce was magnificent. If you love wings, you will not be disappointed. Nashville (MN Hot) Chicken Handheld- Fried chicken breast on a brioche bun. You can have it with or without the Nashville sauce (I highly recommend getting it on the side) and features sweety drop peppers, tomato, lettuce, dill pickles and scallion aioli. The combination here of the hot, crispy, crunchy, soft, creamy, sweet, sour, is out of this world. The scallion aioli is one I started ordering as a side for dipping chips into on future visits. Incredible! Pulled Pork Stacker- They smoke their own meat in-house, so right off the bat, I was looking forward to this one. Brioche bun topped with smoked pork, aged cheddar, BBQ sauce, dill pickles, and cole slaw. You'll need a ton of napkins and it's so worth it!! Juicy, smoky and perfect. Mozzarella Melt- Now this one... it's currently listed as the first item on the Appetizers Menu, and my eyes passed over it 100 times. Without actually READING what it was, I guess I made assumptions. Then I read what it was. It's cheese bread, of sorts. It's garlic ciabatta topped with aged mozzarella and basil pesto... all which sounded good. It also comes with marinara, which initially didn't call out to me, as I get a little picky about Italian food. And I love Groveland Tap so much, I didn't want to have a bad marinara ruin a really good relationship. Throwing caution to the wind, I ordered it, and oh my goodness. The ciabatta was ooey, gooey crispy, the pesto was cool and delicious, and the marinara? I wanted to pick up the plate and lick it clean. It was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and just spicy enough to complement the toasty bread. It's my new favorite! Midwest Mac & Cheese- A special shout out to both John (who recommended this) and Hannah (who recommended we added bacon to it) I can honestly say I have never considered ordering macaroni and cheese at a restaurant. I'll leave that there. But after a manager said it was a favorite of his, I had to take a look. Also, because he and I are both Polish and this Mac & Cheese dish comes topped with grilled kielbasa, how bad could it be, right? IT WAS HEAVEN! The cheese sauce is made in house, and gently covers the most perfect al dente rigatone. It's served with steamed broccoli and a slice of garlic bread. Delicious. New York Cheesecake- Delicious, creamy... as good as it gets. served with strawberry sauce They have a wonderful selection of IPA beer, my faves being the Steel Toe Size 7, and the No. 8 IPA. I wish they'd carry a low carb IPA, but that's like ordering 5,000 calories of food and wanting a Diet Pepsi. Side notes: Try all the aiolis! They are fabulous and so good to dunk anything and everything in. The house made pub chips are good, but the upgrades, whether they be fries, onion rings, sweet potato fries, are worth the $ and calories. So good! One of these days I MIGHT try a salad.
