Magical experience. Be prepared to be blown away by the food at GusGus. This is truly one of the best restaurants in Minnesota. I say this as someone who can be hard on the food here. GusGus does not disappoint. It's an intimate space where you feel like you're in the mix of things. The service was good. They have NA bubbly as well as drinks. We ordered a few items - the tartar to start, followed by the ribeye, then the burger, and the rhubarb crème brûlée pie. 10/10. Really delicious. I will be back and bringing my guests.

What a great little spot! And when I say little, I mean it's a tiny restaurant, located on the ground floor of an apartment building. But they cram people into this space and certainly make it work. Great service, very friendly and knowledgeable on their menu and drinks. They have a full bar, and a small wine selection. But the food was what it was all about! The burger and fries were amazing! We also shared some brussel sprouts and they were delicious! The oxtail poutine was rich and savory, made with gnocchi instead of fries and it was a fantastic twist to poutine. Make a reservation if you want to guarantee a seat, otherwise you may be waiting for a table. But if you do have to wait, it's worth it all the way!

We had such a nice dinner on the patio at Gus Gus. The beautiful weather definitely helped make this a great visit to a very cozy neighborhood restaurant. We tried a wide variety of their apps and shareable plates which covered a wide variety of culinary ideas, all of which were well executed. The grilled prawns, Brussels sprouts, and scallops were all lovely for the summery atmosphere. They also have some fun quirky items, like jello shots and corn nuts! Our server was very friendly and made time to answer our questions on the menu and humor my dad showing her his aquarium live stream - truly a gem of a person. I was so excited to eat the food that I forgot to take photos of most of it, which should speak for itself!

Happy hour at Gus Gus is LIT! I didn't take the best pictures because looking around I was the only jerk off taking pictures of my food so the aesthetic isn't there but let me tell you! Everything on the menu sounded so good that we had to try a little bit of everything. CHIPS speck, créme fraiche & smoked salt & caviar FRIES bagna cauda aioli CHILI CHEESE FRIES BRUSSELS SPROUTS fish sauce vinaigrette, peanuts & pickled peppers THE CHEESEBURGER caramelized onion, mustard aioli w/fries LENGUA SLIDERS pepperoncini, provolone & demi SHISHITO PEPPERS Cotija cream sauce Everything tasted delicious we were all very impressed with the menu. Our favorite happy hour items were the lengua sliders, so tender and flavorful on a buttery crispy brioche bun and I personally loved the Brussels sprouts - they were packed with flavor. The burger *smothered in onions* was also very good. The fries were also great along with the chili cheese fries but if I were to order again I'd skip the regular fries and would order the chili cheese fries with the aoli because that combo was fantastic. Our friends ordered the fish entree and the prawns, both were ranting and raving about the sauces and the flavors of their dishes. Our waitress was fabulous - she was bubbly and friendly and service overall was really fast considering how busy they were.

Went to GusGus for dinner tonight with my husband. It was our first visit, and we both left really impressed. The space is small, dimly lit, and has a cozy, intimate vibe. Service was excellent from start to finish. I started with the Birds Aren't Real cocktail, which was strong in the best way and really well-balanced. My husband ordered the Old Fashioned and noted he was pleasantly surprised by the size and enjoyed it overall. For appetizers, we chose the Beef Tartare and the Grilled Prawns. Both were standouts. My husband normally doesn't care for tartare, but even he liked this one -- packed with flavor and served on incredibly good bread. The prawns ended up being our favorite dish of the night. They were perfectly grilled and paired with a Malta sauce that was absolutely fantastic. For my entrée, I ordered the Scallops with Lemon Risotto. The scallops were cooked perfectly, but the risotto leaned a bit too lemon-forward and slightly overpowered the dish. Still, I enjoyed it. My husband went with the Rib-Eye and Brussels Sprouts. The steak had great seasoning but was a little tough. The Brussels sprouts, on the other hand, were outstanding -- full of flavor with a mix of mild heat, tanginess, and saltiness. The fish sauce added a really nice depth. Overall, we both felt the appetizers and sides stole the show, but the entrées were still very good. We wrapped up dinner with the When Doves Cry cocktail, which we both loved -- even more than our first drinks. We'll definitely be back. Next time we're eyeing the Taleggio Hand Pie, the Mussels, and I'll probably give the Gnocchi a try as well. GusGus is absolutely worth returning to.

We had a great time here. Friendly service, an intimate atmosphere, and a creative menu that immediately grabbed our attention. We started with the chips with speck, crème fraîche, and smoked salt, which ended up being the star of the meal. The chips were thin, crisp, and perfectly salted. The tangy crème fraîche and savory speck balanced everything so well. Simple, but executed with real intention. The poutine was a fun idea with fried gnocchi in place of fries. The texture was perfect with a crisp exterior and soft center. The overall dish felt a bit too heavy, though. With both the gnocchi and the cheese curds, it needed something bright to cut through all that richness. The cheeseburger was solid and seasoned well. The patty was juicy and flavorful. The only thing missing was crispier edges to take it to the next level. It covers the basics and tastes good, but it did not have anything that made it stand out. We ordered the Spritz Salato and it was refreshing with a nice herbal bitterness from the Amaro and sherry. It paired really well with the snacks. The only real disappointment was the French toast dessert. We had seen it on their website and were excited to try it, but it was not on the dessert menu during our visit.

Might be the best cheeseburger I've ever eaten. The cake was phenomenal as well. We made reservations. Plan for finding parking but it's doable! The service was spot on. The drinks were fabulous. I'd recommend to others and can't wait to return.

Lovely ambiance, perfect for a romantic date and great conversation. As much as I enjoyed the candlelit table, the food also was just as amazing. I ordered the gnocchi with sweet corn beurre blanc, grilled corn, oyster mushrooms & lemon mascarpone. The flavors complemented each other very well. I really loved the complexity of the dish, with the gnocchi cooked to perfection, zesty mascarpone, and saltiness from the oyster mushrooms. When I am in the area again would love to come back to try something new.

Wow!!! Had dinner at Gus Gus last night and already can't wait to go back for more. The scallops with lemon risotto were absolutely incredible. Really nice wine list, although lean, I had no troubles finding great wines to pair with each course. Service from Haley was genuinely warm and hospitable, you can tell the staff actually like their jobs and who can blame them with such delicious food. Happy hour was buzzing and definitely on the louder side but did not detract from an excellent experience.

Quickly became one of my wife's favorite restaurants! Every single thing we've tried here has been unique and top notch. We tried it out for the first time a couple months ago and we came back again, which we hardly ever do since we like to try new restaurants. Service has always been super friendly and prompt, they're great at giving recommendations and a rundown of the menu. The place is a little smaller and can get quite loud when busy, but we were always able to hold a conversation just fine. Would be fun to try and do bar seating next time we're there. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

We came for our anniversary a few years ago and had an absolutely delightful experience. The restaurant is on the bottom of an apartment building and has this charm that reminded me of New York. The food was fantastic. We tried the poutine with oxtail - it was a very heavy dish. I had pan seared halibut for my main dish and it was delicious. The servers were kind and attentive. I came alone another time and decided to have the poutine as my main dish and this was a mistake - it is too heavy and becomes one note if you are eating it as a main.

Loved the cute decors and outdoor patio seatings! It's located in a peaceful neighborhood and the staff was so funny and amazing, she answered every single question we had and really made my day! Love the dessert the most, such a highlight! If there was a 4.5 I would have rated that, since the poutine was a tiny bit saltier for my taste

As usual, Rincón 38 served up a splendid evening thanks to the delicious food, wonderful service from Fernando, and delightful environment. We got some of our reliable favorites--piquillos, the queso frito, and the coliflor. As usual, the flavors and plating were exquisite. I always appreciate the balance of flavors and textures. Salty, savory, sweet, and piquant meet tender, creamy, and crispy. It is truly always a delight for all the senses. My birthday treat was the créma catalana, the Catalan answer to crème brûlée: sweet custard sits under a crunchy sugar crust and is topped with a lovely cinnamon-flavored apple concoction. We also tried a relatively new addition to the dessert menu--the Spanish coffee flan. With just the right amount of sweetness, this flan was sturdy and melts in your mouth. The coffee balanced the sweetness and creaminess--imagine the best coffee dessert you have had, and you're getting close.

My second favorite was the chicken with some amazing reduction of some sort, love! The olives were just becuase I was hungry and I knew they would come out fast. The seafood paella was very good, just not as good as the brussels and chicken in my humble opinion and don't do it if you are not ready to get your fingers messy taking all the shells and pieces and parts off the shrimp. The bathroom was cute. The service was fast, olives minutes after we ordered, my favorite two dishes 12 minutes after ordering and paella, 12 minutes after that. It was not great. The problem? I think it was because owner/chef Rene Ruiz Olivar was acting as waiter, not chef. We gave Sr. Ruiz the freedom to choose our tapas, with one exception, the black ink pasta with scallops and shrimp (Tinta Negra) that reviewers have raved about. He said, no problema--he would serve it. Then he must have forgotten because we never got it. The first tapa served, almond-crusted manchego (Almendrado), was plated prettily and was delicious but oh-so-sweet. It was an odd choice for a starter, would have been better as the finale in case nobody ordered dessert. Soon came a lamb tapa (Cordero). The lamb chops' quality was uncertain as the meat was severely overcooked. El Bodegon's langoustines (Gambas al Ajillo) had given every bit of their sea flavor to the sauce, which was magnificent, we all agreed. But where were the dish's promised mussels, the rice? One shared plate, a beef tenderloin tapa (Carne Brava), had apparently lingered too long in the kitchen--the meat was nearly cold. I adore papas bravas (Patatas Bravas). I must have had the dish a dozen times or more during my last trip to Spain, in 2017, when I visited friends who live in Ronda. During my six-week stay, we toured Andalucia, staying at hotels in large cities and visiting small towns. I also spent time sola in Madrid and Barcelona. Unlike in Spain, El Bodegon's potatoes were diced to death. Never in Spain have I ever had patatas bravas that were not substantial in size. All in all, I found the vegetables accompanying the tapas unrecognizable except for the tiny Brussels sprouts. The rest seemed chopped up or stirred to pieces in the pan. Some of my friends had churros for their dessert. They deemed them appropriately hot and tasty. My dessert was cheesecake torte, decked out with a candle as it was my 90th birthday. The torte was a gold-star winner. It was absolutely delicious, its plating the most successful of the evening. It was so perfect it almost made up for the sub-par tapas that preceded it. One of us had a view of the kitchen from his seat at the table. He saw a man other than the chef/owner doing the cooking. Was he a trainee? Did Sr. Ruiz help with the plating? God knows he didn't have a lot patrons to contend with in his role as waiter. It was a slow weeknight, and there were never more than four tables occupied. I sincerely regret that our time at El Bodegon differs from so many reviewers. Like them, I want to see Sr. Ruiz's little restaurant succeed. He has a hard row to hoe, and I hope a disappointing dinner like ours does not befall anyone else going forward.
