We walked out. The first three people we talked to literally had their masks down PAST THEIR NOSES LOL, were standing as possibly close to us as possible. It's like the entire concept of social distancing was nonexistent here. I wouldn't be surprised if this location is breaking every covid regulation. We have frequented this restaurant in several occasions. They have a very robust menu to choose from. It's good old fashioned dinner food, but if you can't find something you like here, you have issues. Fast, attentive and friendly staff round out the package here. The pies great but the waitresses/girls working the front are EXTREMELY condescending and rude every time I've been in. Even a small request is met with an eye roll. Was there today for lunch. 2nd time there, first time was a great experience so I returned. Ordered a special with a 1 trip salad bar. As I was standing waiting at the salad bar, the person ahead of me stuck her finger into 3 of the dressings and tasted her finger between each one. At this point I was really grossed out and said to the lady "you know you're not suppose to do that" she responded, they don't have any of the dressings labeled, she was right, note to Gus's, labeled your dressings. I put down my salad plate and walked away. I mentioned what I saw to my server, she was grossed out and didn't want to hear it. I did not see the dressings changed while I was there. Sorry but first and last time. Ordered a burger with fries and curds to go. The burger was raw, the lettuce was wilted and the fries and curds were soft and mushy,almost as if was sitting there all day. The cole slaw was good.A special Thank you to my air fryer. read more

Came here to meet up with a friend in town visiting. The ambiance of gus's is perfect! The food was priced competitively and tasted delicious! Downside is that it's always busy, which isn't a problem. However, they have a LOT of tables in a small space and we were kind of crammed in the middle of everything. I took my kid at 2:30 on a Sunday when the place was not busy. The person who sat us did not greet us or speak after showing us the table. Then we sat for 15 minutes with zero interaction with waitstaff. No one even walked past our table, let alone took a drink order. So we left, hungry and disappointed. Food was great. Went there Tuesday night when there is not much of specials like Friday night for fish. But the food was great. The ambiance not so much. We gathered for a family thing - the back room is a nice way to do that. Ricky, the waiter, was very personable - he was fantastic. The food was okay. The appetizers were very good - cheese curds and onion rings. Tasty. For dinner, I got the pot roast over noodles. It sounded like a nice comfort food dish. When served, it wasn't quite the "Ma's home cooking" I thought it would be, but it was alright. Not quite enough roast, but it tasted fine. The soups there were pretty decent - nice to get a bowl with each meal. I tried someone's cole slaw and it too was pretty good. Overall, the food is what you would expect at a typical diner. Not the best, but not the worst. The burgers looked pretty good - I'd probably try one of those next time. The french dip looked a little dry, which made me think I would have regretted getting the philly, which was my second choice. The menu has a little bit of everything, so everyone in your party should find something to order. The ambiance was classic diner. If you've seen this place from the outside, you should NOT be surprised by the 60's style diner interior. If you're not up for that, then just stay away. Would I go back? Yeah, sure - if something was planned there. Sun Prairie isn't exactly next door, so something besides the food would have to draw me there. I LOVED Gus's! It was great that you can get half or small orders of things, I got the half eggs Benedict and it was delish. The egg was cooked perfectly, the sauce was rich and creamy overall was really yummy. Instead of hash browns I asked for corned beef hash and you can def tell it is homemade, so crispy! My BF got the meat lovers skillet, good quality meats and nicely cooked eggs. The coffee was good, not weak like most diners and service was on point.
