Man I love this place. The people are friendly and welcoming and the food is simply real. The fried chicken is like what your mom made with love when you were a kid. That chilled potato salad at a 4th of July cookout. They just create memories through your pallet like great food is supposed to.

I haven't been Gus's in a long time but I happened to be near one and I was hungry so I stopped in. The restaurant has a very casual, fun feel, even though it's is a little touristy a lot of locals frequent here. I was greeted and my order of 3 piece dark with beans and coleslaw taken by a very nice lady. I enjoyed watching the perfectly browned , steaming hot chicken go out to the patiently waiting customers and their delight at first bite! I made it home food still hot and I dug in and remembered why Gus's is a must try if you're in Memphis. The chicken has a kiss of spice, not hot and moist and juicy, not greasy. If you've never been then put this on your list of places to visit.

Had to try Gus's Chicken before I headed out of town. The chicken was so good! Cole slaw was also very good. Even better our beer came out with the coldest frosted mugs ever! That beer went down so so good! The beans and French fries were just average. The server was great and place was very clean. I'm not a fan of 1 bathroom for Men's and 1 bathroom for women. Very reasonable total for everything! I would definitely go back!

Got a leg, a thigh, and a breast all top spice level. Got a side of fried okra, Cole slaw, fried pickle chips, and randomly a jalapeno.

Recommended by the kind woman at the front desk of the hotel. I was sat immediately and I didn't have to wait to eat. Restaurant was nice and cool. Service was impeccable. Food was even better. Uniformed police officer on duty just posted up on a stool inside gave the restaurant some extra charm. Food this good is worth being passionate about, apparently. I got all the chicken. Got a leg, a thigh, and a breast all top spice level. Got a side of fried okra, cole slaw, fried pickle chips, and randomly a jalapeno. I sliced up the jalapeno and mixed it in with the slaw. There were no survivors. Love this place. Get a shirt and come back soon.

I travel around the USA for work. I usually stay for 10+ days and I try to try as many local small business restaurants. I always try to encourage people to try small family run business instead of chain restaurants! No wonder why Gus is called WORLD FAMOUS Chicken. We stopped in late into our trip and wish we had tried it sooner because I would have definitely returned!!! Absolutely the best fried chicken Ive ever tried!!! The breast was hot and juicy with a light coating. The spices they use are insanely flavorful. The cook on the chicken was PERFECTION! We entered and were greeted by shown to our table. The waitress was super friendly and attentive. She hustled because the place was packed and she had several tables to serve. People were waiting outside. The side dishes were nothing special, somewhat of what I expected. But the FRIED CHICKEN, clearly the star!!! The entire staff was friendly and there was good energy inside with table conversations. I highly recommend Gus's if you are looking for the best fried chicken ever!!! And its cheap!!!!

Food was delicious! The chicken was super juicy. The Mac 'n cheese was really cheesy, and the fries were perfectly seasoned. The staff was super friendly. The music and decor added to the dining experience. Service was quick and efficient, the staff checked on us several times. An added bonus is the soda comes in a collectible cup.

Best chicken ever! I got the light meat meal this time. The greens were slightly under seasoned but they were extremely delicious. The okra was fried to perfection. I'm shaking my head as I write this because that food was so good! The service was quick and easy. The restaurant is small but it has that Memphis hometown vibe. Super clean and I appreciate the tables being speeded out and not on top of one another. I always visit Gus when I'm in Memphis. I wouldn't dare come to town and miss out. Even if I only have a layover. I'm ordering the chicken Lol

Gus's has always been our favorite chicken place in Memphis!... their Germantown location is the best one and the folks working there are always fantastic (hi NayNay!)... you def have to try their fried pickles but don't skip that chicken!! Editing to add that the boss, Ms. Wendy, went above and beyond today, NATIONAL FRIED CHICKEN DAY!... when she realized that they were out of honey (I love their hot chicken with a side of honey), y'all, she went home and grabbed their extra supply of honey!... and had it back in time for me to enjoy with my meal... these folks are amazing and they are here to make your chicken loving hearts happy!!

The fried chicken is mind blowing, perfectly spicy and crunchy, and juicy and cooked to perfection on the inside. Sides suck though but it won't matter because the chicken is that good. They have "snacks" which is just fried chicken without sides and I recommend that.

Quite possibly THE BEST fried chicken I've had in my life. And I'm from the Midwest where fried chicken is as much a staple as pizza night and taco Tuesdays. I had the 3-piece dark with coleslaw & greens. The greens had an unexpected tinge of something not right. The coleslaw was average. The chicken was expertly crisp, freshly deep fried, piping hot, & ladened with the most perfect blend of spices & flavor. You taste the heat, but you won't feel it. Exceptionally delicious. Our server was nice & attentive, although she did get one out of 10 orders wrong costing our guy an unusually long wait time to eat.

This sincerely was quite possibly the best fried chicken I ever ever had in a restaurant. It was spicy and delicious and not dried out at all. I usually don't do friend chicken in restaurants but when in Rome..... Just like the chicken the fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and fried pickles were flavorful and crispy. The beans and the greens were so good. Our server was friendly and brought everything we needed before we even had to ask. And what a great place. The vibe was very local and everything was so neat to look at. I loved it.

Went a few days ago and everything was delicious. Service was top notch and our food was piping hot. Restaurant was clean and had many seating for Togo orders

Gus's world famous fried chicken is a Memphis staple. The inside is a bit small at the east Memphis location but we were able to find a table no problem. Our server was very attentive to all our needs and did a great job. As you can see I only have a bit of chicken left in my image, but this is because I could not wait to dive into this meal. The chicken is lightly breaded and the breading is slightly spice which gives it great flavor. The fries and mac n cheese were perfectly seasoned, but cost an additional 0.50 cents a piece to swap from the original sides. I enjoyed every single bite of this meal, so if you love quality fried chicken and southern sides this is your place. Gibson's donuts is located right across the street as well, so definitely grab some dessert there after.

Biscuits, donuts, and fried chicken are staples in my belly! The execution of the vision is where it's all gone sideways. Allow me to explain... They are cashier-less. They are also human interaction less. I do not like it all, although I am a hypocrite as I hate human interactions as a rule. That makes me torn. Ugh The non personal interaction, with the I don't see you vibe you get from the staff when you walk in turns me off. They can see me, but just don't care to. It's tough man. They also don't take good Ol' American cash. I could actually care less about this as I always use cards anyway, but to others it pisses them off when you can't use actual money at a place that depends on money to thrive. This is my real beef, personally. Cheap ass packaging and utensils. Trying to save a dime or so on packaging will make me never come here again! I usually just get handheld biscuits and gator tots so I have never needed to use utensils before. The last time I ordered a biscuits and gravy box. It was served to go automatically and it was in a thin paper box with no liner with a piece of folded up wax paper on the bottom. The fork and knife given to me is the cheapest version you can buy. Think gas station utensils, and then move a step down from that. It was disfigured out of the package and was useless to try and use to cut. It simply folded. Trying to eat this out of the flimsy, tiny box, paired with the aluminum foil thickness plastic ware they gave me, I got so pissed off I just threw it away. The biscuit was good, the gravy was good, the tenders were old and cold which made cutting it impossible. I do believe cooking folks food to order is a must in this day and age. The folks that own this place need to step up the packaging badly. These bowls should be served in actual plastic or poly bowls with a lid and decent set of eating utensils! '26 - 24
