My husband and I were wandering around the Oxbow Public Market when my husband spotted the Gustavo Thrace tasting room right across the street. While I had watched Bottle Shock, I have to admit that I missed the connection until after we walked in. We were greeted by a very charming woman (I guess it must have been Thrace) who, aside from being very knowledgeable about the wine, was also very helpful in suggesting places to visit while we were in Napa. We ended up buying the Barbera, a wonderfully spicy red that we'll have with a great Italian meal, and a few The Third Bottle varietal white. I was amazed at how affordable it was. It has to be the best buy in the valley and is a wonderful summer wine. This place is definitely worth a visit. read more

We visited the Gustavo Thrace tasting room and got complimentary tastings served by Thrace, who was great to chat with (and also dished some fun behind-the-scenes info on the movie Bottle Shock, which Gustavo is portrayed in). At one point, when we were discussing the difference between two cabs, Thrace mixed the two into a glass for us to taste -- which I've never seen any winemaker do before! It was definitely an entertaining experience overall. Both the Gustavo-Thrace and the Toolbox lines featured some delicious and very reasonably priced wines. We purchased the Gustavo Thrace Third Bottle red and the Toolbox Pinot Grigio and Merlot. For our wedding (which was just a week later), we decided to use bottles from wineries or tasting rooms that we have visited instead of table numbers. A bottle of Gustavo Thrace graced our head table. :-) read more

Visited the Gustavo Thrace tasting room on Saturday, Jan 8, 2011. It was our second visit. The first time was a couple of years ago, and both owners, Gustavo (winemaker) and Thrace (her card says "Marketing Queen") were there. Our experience was very good, so we decided to visit and taste again. The tasting room is in a store front, about a block from the Napa Wine Train station. It's not a fancy edifice, like some Napa wineries, but we were there for the wine, not the superficialities. (It's also within easy walking distance of at least four other tasting rooms.) Neither Gustavo nor Thrace was there. Lacey was behind the tasting counter. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and represents the winery very well. We tasted wines from two labels: Gustavo Thrace, and the newer Toolbox label, which is a partnership of Thrace and two other people. The Gustavo Thrace wines were as good as we remembered them. The Toolbox label is designed to be very affordable -- several different wines, all priced at $14/bottle. We bought some of both. I hope that Gustavo and Thrace know how good Lacey is. If I owned a winery, I'd hire her for my tasting room staff in a minute! read more

Im not a huge fan of wines, to be honest I barely drink wine because Ive always felt that they were either to acid, or the flavor was too strong for me. I went to this place because everyone was talking about Gustavo and the movie. I had the best Napa experience at Gustavo's. The guy at the store not only told me a bit about the story of each wine but about Napa in general. The wines were delicious!!! Even the strong ones! I spent and hour and a half and I've been recommending his store ever since. Of course I ended buying wines! read more

Awesome little boutique wine room to spend time on a cold day. Hearing the history of Gustavo wines is part of the Napa experience. The wines are excellent. Amber, our host, was excellent at explaining the history. The sauv blanc is a great start, the chard is very refreshing and apart from the style that's makes people shy away from this wonderful grape. read more

Phenomenal wine with 2 labels under 1 brand. This was my father in laws dream come true because Gustavo is the guy from "Bottle Shock" (if you haven't seen the movie, it's a must see!). Very casual and right across the street from the BEST burgers (Gott's) in Napa. read more

My sister and I visited the GustavoThrace winery tasting room in Napa. Thrace Bromberger greets you with such cheer, it made me smile too. Really nice people there, and helpful. Not only did they have spectacular wines, but in the tasting room they have things like gifts and Napa Valley photography. We tasted all the wines they had open. The Pinot Noir is my favorite! read more

I wrote a review a few years ago that was very good since we had a good experience with them overall, but much to my surprise things have gone down hill unfortunately since then. We became members a few years ago and then started having difficulties getting are shipments delivered right causing us problems and frustration. Trying to get a responds back from messages or emails also became time consuming and frustrating as well. We finally picked up our last wine pick up last month in Napa directly since we were going on a trip up there anyway. They asked us to meet there to pick it up and couldn't find anywhere to park so we parked in the back briefly to get it, and ended up getting yelled at by another store owner and we were not there very long either. There was a feeling of tension among the owner at Gustavo's too which left us with not a good feeling either, and we left Napa driving with an uneasy feeling from our wine pick up experience that should have been nice overall. Very different from 2 years ago. Last wines we got were not as good either as prior ones sad to say also. After we got home and feeling disappointed from this last experience we cancelled are memberships with them. Hope they fix their issues and problems and get back to where they once were. Think they need some good business partnering support to help their business overall.... read more

We visited the tasting room yesterday and were very pleased with our total experience. Riley was our hostess and she was delightful. The wines were excellent and we enjoyed the whole experience. We purchased a bottle but there was no pressure to do so. We had heard of the winery because of the movie Bottle Shock. We are very glad we stopped in. As it turned out Riley is Gustavo's niece. She will be a great addition to the operation. Well worth a visit. read more

The best red wine I have ever had! Tasting are very reasonably priced, service was amazing, and they have the best cab in town!

My friends and I stopped in after the Gustavo wine tasting room should have been closed. Since she had customers she had not yet locked the doors. Amber asked, If we wanted to taste wine?" Mined you the store should have already closed. My friends said, "Yes." I gained so much knowledge about wine from Amber it was amazing. I felt like we were in her kitchen tasting wine and old friends catching up. It was a wonder experience even though I don't drink I had a fabulous time. I will recommend this spot to others. read more

We had a great experience! High quality wine at reasonable prices ($25-70 per bottle), and very good customer service. I enjoyed learning about the family history, and Gustavo's daughter is very knowledgeable about the wines. The tasting is $15 for 4 or $18 for 6, and two-for-one if you check in on social media. read more

I joined the Gustavo Thrace wine club about three years ago. I finally got to visit them in Napa this past week. These two individuals are amazing individuals and provided myself and a group of 12 others with a unforgettable experience. We received a personal tasting of their wines some of which have few bottles left in existence. Their wine speaks for itself. They also lead us to other small producer vineyards. If you are heading to Napa and want the local experience I highly recommend starting with their Tasting room in Napa for some tips. read more
