While in Miami, Gusto was recommended for dinner. We were very happy we visited Gusto. We started with Bruschetta which was delicious. My wife had the 100 layers lasagna and I had the Chicken Parm. There are better italian restaurants in Miami, they advertise in Google homemade pasta, but that is definitely not true, my daughter and son love italian food and after been in italia they know the taste of the real bolognese dish, it tasted horrible and was no fresh meat, there wasn't a homemade pasta. we spoke with the cheff and he said the only thing made was gnochi.... even the tomatoes sauce tasted horrible very processed, Costco sell better, but this restaurant use cheap ingredient, you can tell. I asked for a water salad, it was overpriced for the portion that they served. In Dallas we have better italian restaurants using quality ingredients not like here. Gusto Ristobar in downtown doral has a great location and they have a man playing the saxophone on Friday's. The restaurant was packed when we first arrived which is always a good sign but it was a hit or miss experience for me. To start we order the croquetas and the octopus carpaccio. The croquetas were average. I didn't taste much artichoke in them. I would skip it next time. The carpaccio on the other hand was amazing. Very fresh and with lots of flavor! It didn't last very long on the plate. To drink I ordered the Mojito Royale which I'm a big Mojito guy, but it was just average. After the first round, I decided to try the lychee sangria that I saw being served to another table and it was delicious. I would definitely order this again and as a bonus it comes prepared with a light inside and dry ice in the bottom so it is smoking for a little once when bring it to you. For the main course I had the chef special, ravioli stuffed with lobster. Several pieces still had small parts of the lobsters shell in them so it crunched when I big them ravioli. There were very little peas and the sauce instead of being pink was more orange. My wife ordered the fettuccine carbonara and it was dry and not good. She didn't eat it and we sent it back. We decided to skip desert due to our mixed reaction from the food. I was hoping to like this restaurant more but it let me down on several things. Omg it was so good, one of my top Italian spots as of now. Dare I say my number 1! I had the fettuccine a la carbonara, it was so delicious. I had to share mine because everyone loved it. The Cacio e Pepe & black truffle was spectacular as well. For the drink I had the Lilly (Coconut Spiced Rum, Amarula Liquor, Passion Fruit Syrup, Lemon Juice topped with Angostura Bitter) I dont even like rum but this was delicious, the sound of it won me over. The service was great, we went for a birthday, we were the last ones there and they were still very attentive and let us know when he had time for dessert so we wouldn't miss out. They don't have "tap" water, so be ready to pay for water. Also the seafood was not good. Many of the clams and mussels were not opone when served. We were in Miami for the day and wanted to get dinner before heading back to the west coast of Florida. We ate at Doral Yard on Saturday so we found our way back in this cute area tonight. I saw great reviews for Gusto Ristobar so we decided to pop in since it was slow and knew we could get a table. We started out with the Arancini, Artichoke and Ricotta Croquettes, and the Tuna tartare. I don't know if I'd order the arancini again, since the other two were much better. We had to ask for some extra crostini for the tuna since it only came with 2 for decoration. For our entrees, we shared the Pizza Stella and the Cacio E Pepe with Black Truffles. The presentation of the Cacio E Pepe was fun since they serve it out of a cheese wheel table side. The pizza Stella was a fun twist on a pizza; however, as we were enjoying it... I found a piece of plastic in my mouth that I almost swallowed. I know accidents happen, but I didn't feel like risking it eating more and wondering if there was any more in the pizza since it was covered in toppings and would be easy to miss. The server picked it up and inspected and then came back and said must be from the mozzarella wrapper. He showed the manager and she didn't feel the need to stop by. He just took the pizza away and took it off the bill. What annoyed me was when he brought the check, he added gratuity even though it was just two of us, not a large group. I felt he was judging me for pointing out the plastic and thought we were going to be "Karen's" and not tip. If they would've been friendlier about the mistake and not force us into a 20% tip, which we would've left anyways... we would've been back. I come to Miami, specifically Doral every year for vacation. My family was unable to travel because of Covid so upon our return, i was quite surprised by the growth of downtown Doral. My adult children ditched me so i took myself to lunch. Luckily i found Gusto resto/bar! My server Roxana was a dream! I chose a nice Malbec from the menu. She helped me select cheese and meat to accompany the wine. She even suggested a delicious bread and oil to go with my choices. My goodness it was so good! They've got the best Cacio e Pepe. Tried this spot during Miami Spice and was pretty impressed with my entree and creme brulee dessert. Both were phenomenal. I wasn't a fan of the service....it was slow as molasses. My co-worker and I went for lunch on two separate occasions and experienced the same. Ordered quickly- but when it's bring the check time, I literally had to get up and ask for it- annoying. We ordered burrata to start and my co-worker and I shared the Pizza Biancaneve. Both were good. My boss had the filet and raved about it. He's very particular so that's saying a lot. Although the food was good, I felt like the pizza didn't compare to a similar one I'd had elsewhere. At the other spot, they use prosciutto instead of ham and the dough is more crisp. Not to say I didn't enjoy this pizza. I just felt it was sparse with its toppings. A very nice experience all-in-all and I would go back to try other raved about dishes. First, I ordered an old fashioned and it was served with crushed ice with an orange wedge.. really? Then, I had to wait for almost 1 hour for the appetizers to arrive only to be served a bland tuna tartar over a processed guacamole (like the one sold at your local grocery store); really TERRIBLE. Once these mistakes were acknowledged by management, issues continued to happen. One of the dishes from my party was way undercooked, which was pointed out to the waiter and manager yet completely ignored. To summarize it, this was the first and last time I ate here. I came here on a mother-daughter dinner date while visiting Miami. The location is conveniently located in downtown Doral. Parking in this area can be scarce as there is not a lot of street parking available. The inside of the restaurant is nice and elegant with the option of outdoor seating. We sat outside in order to enjoy the nice weather and people watch while we enjoyed dinner and drinks. We were sat immediately and didn't need reservations but I know that weekend nights and brunch can get very full so I recommend making reservations for those times. We didn't order any entrees but just some appetizers to share. We ordered the Bruschetta, Croquettes, and Focaccia Bomba. The drinks and food were absolutely delicious!! We went to downtown Doral looking for a delicious dinner for my boyfriends birthday. We had high hopes as the restaurant looked very beautiful, and had a wide selection of menu options. There were some items that you would not typically find at a restaurant, and we were eager to try it. Although I am vegetarian and they did not offer many vegetarian dishes, I would make do with what they had available in the hopes of trying something new. The staff was very professional and courteous, the ambiance beautifully decorated and modern, we were excited to dig in. We ordered: - Burrata Tropicale : Burrata ball in guava balsamic sauce - Arancini : Fried Risotto Balls stuffed with Tagu and mozzarella - Croquettes - artichoke and ricotta croquettes - Focaccia Bomba : fresh focaccia Bread - Cacio e Pepe + truffle : Taglioni pasta w/ pecorino cheese sliced black truffle and pepper. - Fettucini Carbonara: Fettuccini w/ bacon, eggs, Parmesan cheese and black pepper. The food itself was not bad necessarily, but everything was bland. Nothing stood out even though I got a truffle Parmesan dish that came in a beautiful presentation where they spin it inside of a cheese wheel. The noodles were tough and undercooked, they also were cold and overly chewy. There was even a flourish of fresh shaved truffle done table side , that honestly I could've done without as it was relatively tasteless, and very dry (they probably were not keeping the truffle in a humidity controlled area). We had the Arancini which was nothing to write home about, we actually sent it back as there was no flavor and missing the cheese it was supposed to be stuffed with and instead had peas inside that were never mentioned . The Burrata was good but felt muted and lacking in flavor. The sauce was delicious But seemed strange with the cheese as there was no salt component to bring out the creamy ness of the cheese and deep notes of the guava. The croquettes were my favorite because they were cooked perfectly and the coating was crunchy and wonderful, but the stuffing was bland and tasted watery. The focaccia was excellent, we ended up ordering 2 of them, they came out fresh and chewy. All in all the meal was definitely not worth the price tag. It was by no means horrible, but it was just 'OK'. We will not be going again nor recommending anybody to go, nothing against the restaurant but it's not a place I have anything that I can say made me want to repeat or would stand out in my mind if someone asked me for a recommendation. Hopefully they'll lose their fear of salt moving forward and live up to their name to have their food be tasty in the future. Like I said it wasn't horrible as it seems relatively new and is probably still figuring things out, but I wouldn't be the one saying to go again. read more

Where should I start... Well let's start from the beginning... I first came to Gusto when if it initially opened. We were a large party during lunch. The place did not disappoint l. Everything was delicious. Cups were refilled, the delicious bread would just keep appearing, food was on point- I mean really on point. Portions were perfect. We kept going back, but every time the service and quality of the food just continued to decline. The last time I visited (already during Covid life) the restaurant had done a complete 360 and I decided I wouldn't return. Unfortunately my friends daughter wanted to go for lunch and I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. For starters, the place was completely empty. We sat inside, I scan the menu- I only have one bar (I have Verizon which has great service) so the menu does not load. I ask the server for a menu and he tells me they don't have menus at all. Since my phone was taking forever to load, I asked if they had a lunch menu- nope. Finally the menu loads. I asked the server if he'd bring the bread I love from there and he said yes that I can order it- now they charge $2 this used to be free item. We ordered the guava burrata, two glasses of Pinot Grigio, and two lemonades for the kids. The burrata was good but only came with 3 crumbling toasts. I asked if he could bring more and the food runner said sure. Our server comes back and asked if we wanted the toasts, I said yes, and he said it would be $2.00. Seriously? $2 for a couple of pieces of old bread bc the appetizer only brought 3 and we were 4 eating? I'm already a bit annoyed, but whatever. The server takes FOREVER to come back to take our order. It's "lunch rush" so this shouldn't be happening. We ordered 2 fettuccine alfredos, osso bucco ravioli, and carbonara. Everything was alright- nothing spectacular. The Alfredo sauce was bla. Ravioli was good but tasted like meat mixed with ground beef, carbonara was ehhh... the girls had ordered another lemonade and wanted water. When the water arrives, I notice it's Panna bottled water and I told him that we didn't order that. His words were that the city of doral MANDATED ALL restaurants serve bottled water. Weird- I had just been to Doral Yard and that wasn't the case but whatever. We get the tab- $192!!!! One appetizer, 4 lemonades @$5.00 each. Server failed to mention there was no refills as the kids ordered. Mind you, they were 75% ICE which is the only reason they were allowed to order 2. The server never mentioned the no refill policy. Imagine spending $20 on 4 oz x4 of lemonade. The House Pinot Grigio- $12 a glass, It must've been served like Santa Margarita for that price! The alfredo's were $24 each!!!! It's a bowl of pasta with white sauce! You're not freaking Prime Italian. Of course, the water we didn't order but were charged for. We end up going to Bachour for dessert. The server gives us water and I ask her about the Doral water bottle mandare- she said that was a lie. I was SO upset. I left my delicious dessert, walked right back to Gusto and demanded I speak to a manager. There was no manager available, no one in charge. I spoke to a server who said he was in charge and basically told him everything you just read. I told him it was ridiculous to lie about a water bottle mandate. I told him we paid $20 for I've with a splash of lemonade and were not informed about the refills. I asked what house wine we drank for a whopping $12 a glass. He said there was nothing he could do so I got the 'managers card' and called him when I got to the car. The phone answers, a man picks up saying Hello, I asked if I was speaking to the manager of Gusto and they said yes. I repeated the story AGAIN. After SIX minute the guy asked if I had just been there and sat in the corner. I said yes. His response: oh I was the guy you just spoke to. Ummmmmm why the hell didn't you say that 6 minutes ago?!? Oh sorry it could've been a different customer. The story gets better... I ask him for Salvatore's number the guy assures me he was calling the real manager. I hang up and call Salvatore's office right away. Guess who picks up guys? THE SAME GUY!!!!! I cannot make this up! I am completely appalled by Gusto, it's staff, and the management team should be EMBARRASSED to say the city mandates water bottles and forces patrons to pay for the most expensive glass bottle! I am well aware restaurants are struggling and I get cutting corners, but lying and ripping customers off is not cool at all. I have been dining out since restaurants reopened and I support the industry because I know times are tough. This was on another level Gusto has declined in service and quality over the past 18 months. You may want to skip this place out. If you have a real contact for Salvatore, please share. read more
