We were expecting to wait a little until they opened but CoCo took our order and just updated us that they weren't open just yet and that she was dropping some chicken now so it would be hot for us! Happen to be nearby and saw that Guthrie's was now open and thought I would try it for late lunch early dinner. The drive-through is a little bit confusing because you have to kind of circle behind an urgent care. I did notice that the menu is very limited, there are no desserts and very limited side options. The unsweet tea was actually very good, the actual chicken is pretty much like anything you would get at any place that sells chicken tenders at a fast food place. Nothing really set any of it apart. The fries were OK, they do include Texas toast, which was pretty good. I think this is probably a one and done for us. Just nothing, really set it apart as far as the food went. This was my first time experiencing Guthrie's and I will say it is basically Canes. I don't know the lore of both the restaurants or anything but they are basically the same in terms of menu. Only thing different is that Guthries has a bucket of wings. The vibe was just like a little fast food spot it was very fast and fresh and the service was nice. I took it to go and I live close by and it was still steaming hot by the time I dove in. The tenders are better than Canes imo they have a bit more seasoning and the fries are way less bland than Canes. The Texas toast was good as well! The sauce I loved pretty similar to Canes. The Big G combo is the way to go 6 tenders was not too filling. Overall I would give it a solid 3/5 but I would DEFINITELY go here over Canes. read more

I enjoy eating the chicken finger combo with fries, but I do not like the coleslaw. This fast food chain is located in a crowded area on Wake Forest Rd. Pay attention and be careful driving on Wake Forest Rd as well as Six Forks Rd, unless you want your car to be totaled. The ambience is basic, and staff are mediocre. First time trying in Raleigh and won't be back. Confusing board only offering combos and large amounts of tenders.. 50 to 100 range. Lots of people working but seemed confused. All I wanted was 10 chicken fingers.. no sides or drinks. After some confusion they said 13 for 15. To me that meant 13 tenders with 3 sauces for $15.. No price sheets to view so you have to depend on them.. Well it ended up being $21.36 for 10 tenders in what they call half a bucket. I reluctantly paid because I was tired of the confusion. I have been to this location a few times. The quality is inconsistent, and it only seems to be going down hill. The first time I visited this location, the tenders were of your average chicken tender size for a place like this, which means typically around 5". I found them juicy and comparable to other restaurants where tenders are the main item they're known for. But each visit since then has gotten progressively worse, to the point that it felt like they were serving me a baby's portion tonight. I ordered a 6 piece box to share with my 9yo, which is usually enough for us both. None of the tenders were more than 2.5" in length however. If they had doubled up the order (they did throw in one extra) and included around 11-12 tenders, that would be one thing - though not sufficient imho because smaller tenders = less plump and juicy meat overall, which heavily affects the flavor with this type of food. If supplier issue is the cause behind this, then also fine - but mak your customers aware of this, and at least apologize. Instead, I blindly bring this box home expecting something similar to what we've ordered in the past, only for us both to be greatly disappointed. My 9yo finished their share of the tenders in record time. On top of that, the Texas toast is below-average compared to other places like Raising Cane's. The fries are basically a wash between the two, but when your tenders are terribly proportioned for the price, and the toast isn't at that same level, there is literally no reason to come back to this place. read more

The chicken fingers were piping hot. The restaurant is clean and brand new. The staff here seemed relatively inexperienced in providing a welcoming atmosphere or the ability to return pleasantries when I showed up pleasant and polite. Overall, great concept to have a Guthrie's right in Midtown. The chicken fingers and fries were really good. This place is well known in Alabama for great food so was excited to learn they are now in Raleigh. Did the drive thru. Waited five minutes after paying. Asked for ketchup. This chicken was delicious. It's slightly more breaded than Cane's, but more seasoned so more flavor. The tenders have a little more crunch to each bite as well. They don't need the sauce for flavor as they are seasoned pretty well. The fries were crisp and tasty. They didn't have a seasoning, but they went really well in the Guthrie's sauce. The sauce itself is tangy and similar to a Cane's sauce or Zax sauce. It is a bit milder in flavor. The bread was amazing. It was quite buttered and thus had lots of flavor. As soon as I walked in I saw a young man that works behind the counter holding the door with his foot as he exited because he washed his hands. Very friendly staff, small note it's nice to talk with co-workers I do the same just acknowledging customers when the walk up it to counter(not a complaint but a suggestion). The chicken was small than Chick fil La it was tasty and crispy, toast was soft and good. Ordering was rushed, the guy didn't ask what type of sauce we wanted. I asked the nice lady making drinks the types of sauces they had and she told me. So when I picked up the order when she it name was called, I asked for BBQ sauce. Instead of simply getting it. He says he has to charge me for it. So I asked him, had he asked us when ordering and we said BBQ sauce, would we be charged? He says No. So I say, we'll take back this Guthries sauce and give me bbq. He says. No keep that. He goes and gets the sauce, and STILL Charges me for the Bbq sauce! It's not the cost of the sauce.
