Biggest breakfast bagel I've ever had, bacon for day! Great value and service was great!

Crowded with customers, clean, and brightly lit. Good decaf coffee. Family-run, friendly. Ordered a Rubin. Took about ten minutes to make with several people ordering before me. The sandwich was packed with roast beef, between two buttered, grilled slices of rye bread. The Rubin and small coffee came to $15 and change. The aisle shelves are packed with packaged food at going prices, which is to say, a bit inflated. Candy bars, for instance, are about $2.00 each; small bags of various chips are about $2.89, give or take. The sandwich would have been best eaten in a small park outside next to the Deli--by the time I got across town on the bus and reheated it--the bread was soggy from the meat, sauce, and sauerkraut. Even so, it was delicious. The cook gave me my money's worth and an enjoyable meal. I also appreciated the decaf, which tasted like real coffee freshly made, aeromatic and rich, not like the pot of coffee slowly drying out on the office hotplate. During a recent trip to DC, we picked this spot to be our go-to for breakfast. It seems like this spot has been in the neighborhood for a long time and for a good reason at that. I think this might be the best bacon egg and cheese bagel I've ever had. The bagel was soft in the middle but crispy on the outside, the bacon was super crunchy and plentiful and the egg was perfectly seasoned. Just one bagel left me stuffed till lunchtime. Prices are pretty good too. I wish a spot like this existed near my college. My sibling also tried their chicken pastrami sandwich and though it was a bit pricier than their bagels, it was enough for a whole meal. It wasn't too long of a wait for orders. This place has been on my list for about 5 years and I finally made it. In short: it was worth the wait. The line was out of the door when I arrived but moved relatively fast. It is simply a deli in a convenience store. The store has tons of snack options that will go well with whatever sandwich you order. I went with the recommendation of many on here, and got the bacon, egg and cheese! The pictures don't lie, there is a metric ton of bacon packed on a fresh bagel. I will never complain about too much bacon, but I do have to say that I had to pull some off and eat it separately so that I could actually taste the egg cheese and bagel. But a bacon egg and cheese bagel with bacon on the side? Don't mind if I do! I can definitely see you coming here after a long night of drinking for some greasy, salty goodness in the morning. 90% of the time there is a line out the door, and there's a reason for that. This place has some of the best sandwiches I've found in DC served from an eclectic and sometimes overwhelming NYC bodega-style deli. Keep in mind, the sandwiches aren't cheap--ranging from $5-$10 depending on toppings--but they make sure to pack on as many ingredients as possible to make that price point worth it. If you've been going to Call Your Mother for your breakfast sandwich fix, come here instead. Their eggs are always cooked perfectly over-easy/over-medium, and they load on the bacon. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that they put about a half pound of bacon on each sandwich. That alone makes the $6.50 price tag worth it. Not to mention, they source their bagels from Whatsa Bagel in Bethesda, which has bagels that are at least on par with Call Your Mother. read more

My go-to order is always a chicken sausage, egg & cheese -- and I typically switch the bread up depending on my mood (their options include an assortment of bagels, bread slices, croissants, & more).
