    Razor/blade in taco
    Celeste G.

If I could give 0 stars, I would - On December 30, 2019, I visited this restaurant to order lunch with a fellow coworker, as my witness. I ordered grilled chicken tacos with lettuce, pico de gallo, and cheese, which came in a small rectangular aluminum container. Upon eating my meal, I discovered a small sharp razor blade lodged into the taco I was eating. Luckily, I was using a fork, but I noticed the blade as my fork hit an unusually hard object in my plate. When I returned to the restaurant to physically show them the blade and return my food, all they did was say sorry and give me $10 back. One of the cooks identified the machine it came off from and showed it to me as consolation, but I find that response to be insignificant compared to my encounter of almost ingesting a razor blade! If you knew your cutting machines were faulty and could easily identify it, wouldn't you think to remove it all together? I am unsure if this has happened to other patrons who have eaten here, but it is frightening that they did not take the situation more seriously. The best they could think to do was give me $10 and an apology. The idea of having a razor in my mouth and possibly sustaining injuries inside my mouth due to such an oversight is beyond scary and unnerving to me. Never eating here again due to crazy oversight regarding preparation of their food, high prices, and unorganized operations. Reported them to the DC Department of Health for further investigation. A razor in a taco! Absolutely insane!

    Blueberry Muffin

They will knowingly give you the wrong item. At least 3 times I've been to this establishment they have given me something that I did not order, not even close. This particular time I asked for a blueberry muffin, and was sold what looks to be cranberry. I even asked the man behind the counter (presumably the manager) if he was sure it was blueberry and he said "yes" and seemingly rushed me out the door.

Atrium Cafe is the person you are dating who keeps on sending mixed signals. Here's how I felt led on by Atrium Cafe: - I wanted something quick, but good for breakfast in downtown DC. As I walked by I and 13th St NW, Atrium Cafe was full of people. A line is a good sign, right? -Then I looked Atrium Cafe up on Yelp- 3 stars. Hmmm... -As I walked in, the coffee smelled good and the sizzling ham on the open grill looked like it was the making of the best breakfast sandwich in the city. The croissant they put it on was large. Did I stumble upon a hidden gem? -I went to pay and my total for a ham, cheese, and egg breakfast sandwich and a medium coffee came to just under $9. Seems expensive. -Then I went to sip the coffee. It was decent. It isn't third wave coffee, but alas. It's caffeine. The sandwich looks promising, but tasted a little bland. I'm still processing my experience and all the mixed messages Atrium Cafe sent me. Who are they really? Age has taught me to not mess around with mixed signals. I'll move on to La Colombe down the road for my breakfast and quality coffee.

This is one of my favorite salads in the city (when I'm not trekking to find a Sweetgreen). Seriously. Atrium Cafe has really fresh and large portioned salads for $8-9 which you just can't find anywhere else. The dressings are by far the star of the show, and they have so many options to choose from. My absolute favorite is sesame ginger. My salad of choice is the Quinoa Avocado, but I've also tried the Chicken Caesar and the Cobb, which were very good. In addition to salads and pre-proportioned deli items in the fridge when you walk in, they make sandwiches. I recommend the hot pastrami or the turkey sandwich. Just like the salads the portions are great - very big. I usually have an entire half leftover. The line moves fast. Enjoy!

Had a great turkey sandwich here, I opted for them to put it on a croissant so it was a dollar more, but I really like croissants. The line moved fast and everyone was quite pleasant, even though it was about 2pm, end of 'lunch hour.' They have tables and stools if you want to dine in. Big plus is that stools at counters are on window side so fun to watch street while you eat.

Amazing food! My husband and I ordered omelettes. And to my surprise they were unusually delicious with a pleasant sauce on top. Quality cooking! Great prices too. Outdoor seating was available. Open bright and early!

The shop does get very busy and there is not much seating. It's best to take the items to-go. There will also be a constant line, but I find my wait time start to finish is less than 10 minutes on most days. Their bagels are fresh daily and the egg and cheese bagels are packed full with freshly prepared ingredients. I've had their lox and scallion cream cheese many times and they will put 2x the amount of cream cheese to lox - you may want to request for them to go light on this if you like to have more balance. I would also say that for butter on bagel you might want to ask for it on the side. I say this only because the melted butter is everywhere inside the wrapper and can drip out. I love their iced coffee and the fact that they always have simple syrup on their self-serve station. It is a milder coffee which I enjoy.

Pro tip: order ahead on the Toast app -- we did that and were able to skip the line completely, which made things so much easier since it gets really busy. Only suggestion: would LOVE to see a jalapeño bagel added. That said, the customization options were great -- we added pickled jalapeños to the jalapeño cream cheese and some hot sauce, and it was so good. Super yummy, totally worth the hype, and we'd absolutely come back next time we're in DC.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft.
