Honestly one of my favorite spots to visit for a light meal. I love their pork gyozas, there's a nice crispy bottom and a juicy interior. The ambiance and red lighting of the place makes it feel like an underground club. Seating and parking are limited and sometimes there's even a wait.
It was a hole in the wall place. Super dark and they have 12 seats for the counter and a standing bar. Their gyoza was fairly priced and delicious. They played old samurai movies in the background while playing loud music. A surprisingly trendy place meeting Japanese comfort food. Their ramen were also amazing.
Found this place on accident and what a gem did I stumble into. Gyoza bar was incredible from start to finish. Come here with one other person or yourself to get yourself a seat faster there is only about 10-15 seats in the whole place; I got lucky coming in at 10 with no wait. The service was attentive and friendly, the staff knew lots about the menu and made recommendations. I didn't want to eat too much when I went but I will definitely be back with an appetite the whole menu sounds delicious. The ambiance was perfect for me darkly lit with red tint the room. Either very romantic or dramatic whichever you're going for. I would definitely recommend to a friend and will for sure be back myself.

Came to Gyoza Bar in Echo Park for an early dinner. It's a cozy little bar with intimate interiors. There are only few seatings which you can watch the bartender work while you eat. We got the pork gyoza & vegan gyoza - both weren't crispy when it came out but so juicy inside. Didn't expect the vegan one to have too much flavor. The salmon sashimi was fresh & buttery which we enjoyed eating the most. The crispy rice w/ spicy tuna was hands down my favorite! We weren't a fan of the bean sprouts w/ spicy pork. The tonkotsu ramen was rich & comforting, perfect to end the night with. Since I don't drink alcohol, I got their famous cucumber mint yuzunade minus the alcohol. It was so refreshing!! The bartender was really kind & welcoming, which was my favorite part of the whole experience. They offer a take-out gyoza rice plate which is super convenient if you don't want to dine in. Overall, amazing food, chill atmosphere & great service. I loved the vibes here. It's bar-style seating only with about 12 seats in total so it's very intimate. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately but there's a Yelp waitlist you can join or you can order food to-go. I am shocked to inform you that I may have liked the vegan gyoza more than the pork gyoza. I had low expectations coming in about the gyoza in general, because how could it be much better than the other Japanese restaurants? I loved that the skin on both of them stayed crispy and that the filling packed a flavor punch. I didn't even need to dip either of them in the sauce because it was already juicy and flavorful. The pork one had a rich umami taste and the vegan gyoza had a teriyaki glaze that complemented the soy meat. For appetizers, we ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna and bean sprouts with spicy pork. The latter dish reminded me of a Chinese dish since it had a mala spice, which was unexpected but pleasantly welcomed. The crispy rice had a great ratio: a thin, very crispy layer of rice with a mound of tuna. I'm not a big fan of drinks but I was a huge fan of the cucumber mint yuzunade...probably because it hardly tasted of alcohol. However, I could taste the shochu more in the pom-garita, so that one might be a fun choie if that's more your style. The worker was also very kind and quick at clearing plates and refilling our water. We found street parking in the neighborhood, but if you're lucky, you might find some on the same street.
Don't come here; I want this place to always have a spot for me when I visit!! Absolutely amazing Ramen bar! From waking in to leaving, staff and cook were attentive and welcoming to their place. I'll be honest, I didn't really have high expectations for this spot but I'm still thinking about it hours later. The restaurant is super small but the vibes were immaculate. I forgot to ask his name but whoever was helping my large group of 7, that basically took over half the restaurant, was the best!! 3 of us ordered the 20 pork gyozas to share and I got the regular size pork rice bowl. The gyozas were delicious, juicy, and filling. The pork rice bowl was also super good! Absolutely no complaints and no notes. My group was so happy we chose this spot to eat and will most definitely be back!
This was easily the worst pork gyoza I've ever had, which is a shame coming from a place with Gyoza in their name. I can't speak to ambiance because I picked up this order to go. Staff was really nice though and I picked up my order just as it was coming off the line. It comes with three sauces: soy sauce, chili oil, and what seemed like a gochujang sauce. I found these didn't really help the flavor. I gave my portion to my boyfriend who will typically eat anything, but he threw away the last one. It had the same taste as the smell of a medicinal Chinese herb shop. It was overwhelming.

The pork gyozas were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Crispy rice spicy tuna was one of the best I've ever had. The vegan gyozas really surprised me! I would've had no idea they were vegan. The staff was super friendly and informative. The space is small so I suggest getting there early to snag a seat. They actually have price reductions if you opt on ordering for takeout. Definitely get one of their togo sets! It comes with gyoza, rice and salad. Can't wait for their WeHo location to open.
Visited Gyoza Bar right before dinner rush on a Sunday evening - wow wow wow. Loved the vibes, service, and food. The gyoza's are freshly handmade and savory. The ramen broth was thick and flavorful. And, OMG, the cucumber mint yuzunade was exquisitely refreshing! 10/10 can't wait to go back!
I love the ambiance here. So intimate and cool. Staff were nice and helpful too. The service was quick and the food quality was great! The seats were stools by the bar and they have hooks at the bottom of the bar table so you can hang your bags/jackets/coats. Food was worth it, price points are reasonable. Gyōza bar is pretty fascinating, and the ambience feels like you just walked into a monochromatic version of a Wong Kar Wai film except you're bathed in warm, orange colored lantern lights. It is intimate but casual, a cozy dive bar that doesn't have edgy look of one, but instead serve Japanese street food. It doesn't seat too many people, but for a Wednesday dinner my friend and I found seats right away. Be sure to get the Nigori Sake and Asahi draft beer if you're in that mood, they're quite a delicious pairing. As for the food, my friend loves her combo of Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna and Salmon Sashimi, and especially raved about the crispy rice. Our appetizer was Vegan Gyōza (other option was Pork) and it is pretty good and savory. I do want more kick from the Chili oil and yuzu vinegar since I felt they don't really add much to the gyōza. My dish was the Tsukemen Dipping Noodle, and while it's good, it doesn't quite reach my favorite dipping noodles at Tsujita. The broth is pretty good without calling attention that it's a fish broth (I don't like seafood), but I do find that other than the cilantro there's not much nuance or layers in the broth overall. Nor is there that kick with the flavor. But the noodles. Are nice and thick, absorbing the broth with ease. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10 myself for being good but not quite impressive. I do want to come back, however, since the rest of their menu looks enticing and the service was super attentive and friendly! read more

The ambiance was nice as far as lighting and decor, although a projector with black and white Japanese military movie footage was playing which was a bit random and weird. The server/bartender was very nice :-) The wait was not worth it though. The restaurant itself is very small and you're shoulder to shoulder. The menu is small and there is only 1 vegetable and 1 pork gyoza option which by the name I was expecting more option. It was alright but nothing special. Honestly better gyoza at any other restaurant and even comparable storebought as far as unique flavor. Gyoza sauce with chili oil was the star. I was honestly disappointed since I was looking forward to trying. It was overpriced and overhyped. read more

It was... okay.The gyōza were fine. Better than average. Maybe slightly burnt. But they weren't the normal freezer case food service gyōza most places serve, so that was good. The pork bowl was nothing memorable, kinda fattty. I made the mistake of adding some of their gyōza sauce, which is like ponzu but with way too much yuzu. It was incredibly acidic. The portion was pretty small for $14, too. The portion-to-price ratio just isn't great here. The seating isn't comfortable. The extroverted, gregarious servers are personable almost to a fault -- it's not easy to get a quiet meal to oneself here. Again, it was... okay. But is "okay" enough to make me go back? read more

Cool speakeasy entrance vibe! Went right when it opened so it was pretty empty, service was fast since we were the only ones there. Gyozas were really tasty and fresh. Wouldn't order sushi again from this place and would just stick to the gyozas. read more

Really liked the style of this restaurant/bar, inside felt very intimate and unique. Service was great, they were very attentive and food was delicious. I tried the veggie and pork gyozas, and also got the tsukemen. All were flavorful and I'd definitely get again. Drinks wise I tried the buckwheat tea which I loved, perfect to wash everything down and didn't feel bloated at all after my meal. read more

Great date spot! I absolutely love the dark ambiance in here. Dim lights and house music playing inside while you get to enjoy your food and drinks! What we tried: dipping noodles, pork gyoza, pork belly bowl, and lemon sours!! I was really impressed with the the dipping noodles. It was so flavorful and large enough to share. The broth was super rich and tasty. The pork gyozas were crispy on the outside yet so juicy on the inside. The pork belly bowl was you typical pork bowl - the pork was juicy. We had lemon sours while we waited to be seated. Check in on yelp prior to arrival to be on the list! We waited around 25 minutes to be seated. The restaurant itself is very small and limited on seating. It is also a stand up bar waiting area all around the restaurant. I do think it is on the pricey side, but it is an experience to live and try. They have a parking lot, but it gets filled up. read more

almost don't want to post this review so i can keep this place a secret, but they deserve the hype. so good! the menu is tiny, for good reason, since their focus seems to be on creating this underground japanese vibe where you come for drinks first, and the drinks are amazing. the lighting is lovely and the service has also been great. one of my go to spots in the city. read more

I visited this spot on a Wednesday night with a friend. It's a nice intimate restaurant, would be good for a date night! The restaurant is set up around a bar, so you're seated with other parties next to you. The decor is great, really adds to the intimate ambiance. They play some cool film and music. They have a yelp waitlist in order to be seated. again it's a small restaurant so the wait for 2 was around 30 minutes. The staff was really nice and the bathroom and restaurant was really clean. We ordered the salmon sashimi, spicy tuna crispy rice, and pork gyozas to share. The food was good but nothing special-- tasted pretty average. It came out to $65 for these 3 sharable dishes, which is pretty steep. We did have a lot of gyozas leftover though. I would visit again really for the ambiance if I'm ever in the area. read more

Finally had the chance to check out Gyoza bar out in Encino. Such a lowkey spot. Once you walk inside you feel like you transported to a different part of the world! Went big and ordered the 20 gyozas às well as their fire crispy rice cakes! Definitely worth the try! read more

This is one of my all time favorite spots. Food is so so good. Can't go wrong with the gyozas but I love the sashimi and crispy rice w spicy tuna. It's a small bar with a cool aesthetic. Always recommend this spot to anyone in the area. Service is always great as well. 10/10. read more

They don't make places like this anymore ~ you can check in via Yelp while on your way which makes life convenient. While on my way it said 30 minute wait and I was 20 mins away so I checked in. But within 10 minutes the table was ready and got a text. It said to reply with my ETA. I said 8 minutes and they have a thumbs up. I loved this. Can't stand places that don't have advance check ins for customers & I like how they ask for your ETA if you're on your way. Although there are maybe 10-12 dining seats at the bar.. you can also stand at the standing ones behind and order drinks/bites there until your name is called or just dine at the standing ones for a quick bite. It IS a tight squeeze but it's a pleasant experience. Moody, ambience is right & the staff / workers are great. Loved chatting with them. One of the servers even offered a complimentary side of rice to finish the dipping noodle sauce with (but we were too full). Gyoza is amazing.. only complaint is the gluten free wraps for the vegan option. I'm not sure why people assume vegan = gluten free.. but 90% of vegans are not gluten free. I wish there was an option for non gluten free but still vegan.. bc the filling was soooo good. The gluten free option is just super sticky at one point couldn't even take it off the plate bc it was sticking to it. But nevertheless the inside was still phenomenal so it didn't alter this rating. Iced green tea was also 10/10! I never mind a small menu ~ but I'd love if they added some small bites for appetizers. Maybe veggies like cucumbers / etc. read more

Gyoza Bar in Echo Park is everything I want in a neighborhood spot. The food was delicious, but what really set it apart was the service--especially from Micky, the manager. He made sure we knew how to eat everything the traditional way, gave great recommendations, and checked in just enough to make us feel taken care of. The vibes were spot-on. Quirky old movies playing on the TV, industrial house music giving the place a cool edge--it's got that perfect mix of low-key and stylish. And the happy hour drink prices? Surprisingly solid. Great food, great atmosphere, and genuinely thoughtful service from Micky and his staff. I'll definitely be back. read more
This was a spot that was better than I originally thought. I questioned trying it out because I've never had gyozas that tasted different from anywhere else. Every time I ordered gyozas they're always mediocore or just not worth spending money for but these Gyozas are DIFFERENT, BETTER, and worth every penny. They are juicy on the inside and the sauce they have is the element that brings the flavors together. The place is very small, it can probably seat about 12 to 15 people. We also had the dipping ramen noodles and the flavor was great too! The cold noodles and warm dipping was a bit off putting i wish the noodles were a bit more room temp. But i overlooked it because I was enjoying it so much. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The parking is hectic so I would uber if you can. But I can now say these Gyozas are the best I've had. read more
