The Gypsy Grill is a great spot for some middle eastern cuisine. Portions are huge but they do cost you. My plate was about 20 dollars with chicken kabob rice, mixed greens and a side of pita. They give you a tzatziki sauce and a red hot sauce (which is super hot) but enjoyable lol. The employees provided good service and made sure we got exactly what we wanted. This place doesn't have too much seating and seems to be more of a to go joint. Additional seating was provided outside. Gypsy Grill is right in pedestrian plaza, which is home to a ton of other bars and restaurants. This place is worth checking out.

Absolutely delicious 10/10 falafel pita sandwich! The people who work here are so friendly and even gave us a free falafel ball each as we were waiting. I was craving a falafel sandwich and this hit the spot - incredibly flavorful falafel - tender and moist, accompanied by generous helping of hummus, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, peppers, garlic sauce and ESPECIALLY their hot sauce. Must get! It has a spicy, complex, fermented taste. For $10 this was a great light but filling dinner!

Love such simple food corners! It's a small space with a few tables and chairs for a quick bite. Food is fresh, hot and delicious. I had a falafel sandwich and my husband and son had - chicken kebab box and chicken shawarma box. While the price point is not low, they serve big portion sizes. Service is quick and with a smile! We had been here for a week-day late lunch and would definitely go back again. Give this place a try if u haven't!

No frills place with shwarma and falafel. I got a lamb box that comes in a round tin plate you'd find anywhere in NYC similar to halal guys. It's a pretty quick place to grab lunch to go. I thought it was pretty funny they kept their pita bread warm in a big rice cooker. Lots of funny stuff mounted as decorations on the wall. There's a TV inside, but it's so far behind the back of the restaurant, it's mainly for the workers.

I don't understand the hype about Gypsy Grill. It's good, not great. I had the mixed shawarma box, gypsy fries, and hummus. The box was good, as were the fries, but the hummus was kind of gross and watery. The pita is not fresh and may as well have been a giant cracker by the time it arrived. Straight into the garbage it went. It crumbled the second I touched it. Delivery was on time, but they didn't include utensils like I asked.

Great spot in Jersey City! Highly recommend. Their Chicken Shawarma Gypsy Box is phenomenal!

    Gypsy Platter

The food here is amazing! Whenever I go I get the gypsy platter which has their falafel (which is phenomenal), rice, hummus, and chicken (also very very good) it comes with two sauces; the red spicy sauce is the perfect pairing with everything to add a kick. The employees are always very nice and helpful when I've asked questions about the different items on their menu. Their fries have a really good seasoning on them. Lastly the portions are big and I always have dinner for two days at least.

I like the chicken shawarma sando for a quick meal. The food is better here than the other middle eastern spots in the neighborhood.

This was my first time seeing one with roasted duck though. Just a heads up that the street felt a bit sketchy even though it's near the edge of Chinatown. The mala aioli was quite spicy, but not overpowering or lingering. The crispy shallots added such a nice crunch too which I loved! *Duck Tsangwich $16 I was quite surprised that the roast duck skin stayed crispy! The crackly cookie topping could've been thicker since it was pretty flat. They give you chili oil on the side, but it was already super flavorful with the hoisin sauce. Today, I got a PISILLO panini with ciabatta bread and it was so damn big! I had half of it for lunch and the other half will be saved for my dinner! This panini was just too long and big. I had to open my mouth really wide to take bites out of the big panini and it was annoying. It tasted good though! I love the balsamic dressing, arugula, tomatoes, and bufula mozz cheese the most out of the whole sandwich! The dressing made it really good and soften the ciabatta bread for easier chewing. My poor mouth and teeth! The whole panini cost $22.21 including tax in cash. There was an atm machine by the entrance in case you don't have cash. The whole place was very cozy and tight knit chairs and tables on both sides of the restaurant. The staff was very fast and I got my panini in not time. I did not have to wait that long. They had many different types of bread that I can try next time like the focaccia, sfilatino, and semolina bread that looked really good behind the display glass. ((4.5 stars)) Sunny…read moreand Annie's is very much a 24/7 neighborhood gem of a corner store and deli. it's packed with packaged foods--candy, chips, cookies, ice cream, soft drinks, beer, and a lot more plus the deli counter serves ups an endless list of creative sandwiches. i am not going to say this place is cramped but it kinda is. for example, if people stand in the wrong areas of the store, it will cause a complete standstill of a traffic jam in the store. my advice: order from the deli (and stand somewhere people aren't trying to get to) or grab whatever you need, pay, and leave. this place is not a place to linger. keep it moving. anyway, the obvious draw of Sunny & Annie's is the endless list of sandwiches that are handwritten cards that are stuck outside glass of the deli counter. there is literally something for the pickiest eaters--from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps, and more. some sandwiches are named celebrities, politicians, etc. i have ordered a bunch of different sandwiches and have not made it through much of the menu. you can also create your own Frankenstein monster of a sandwich. while the sandwiches are a big part of the draw, the insane amount of snack foods crammed into the store is quite remarkable from the large stand of Doritos, Takis, Cheetos and other popular branded snack foods in the front to the separate stand of Wise snacks to an entire back corner of the store filled with all kinds of chips, popcorn, etc. imo, Sunny's has the freshest-tasting Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. i know an insane take consider it's a packaged popcorn snack from a megacorp (PepsiCo), but i'll die on this hill. maybe it's cause Sunny's sells a lot of Smartfood popcorn so it gets refreshed often, maybe they have a secret in/pipelinbe from the factory, or it's just magic/alchemy. i don't know, but the Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn never tastes stale-ish like it does at grocery stores, the bags never feel deflated because they have been on shelf long, and the popcorn never has that soft mouthy feel but still has the crunch to it. maybe it's just me, but Sunny's serves a great list of sandwiches...AND the freshest Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. beyond the snacks, the service from the deli to cashier is upbeat and friendly. in all seriousness, Sunny and Annie's is an Avenue B institution at this point and remains a charming family-owned store--and is NOT a sterile modern clone of a neighborhood business.
