I was really impressed with this place. The lady working the counter was incredibly friendly and helpful. My food came out quickly, and the place seemed clean and tidy. I appreciated that the gyro meat was thinly sliced, and had great flavor. And it was so much food! I ended up eating only half of it for my lunch, and had the other half for dinner the next day. I also ordered a side of hummus which was okay but not my favorite. It was a little too chunky for my taste. However, I got to try a sample of the baba ganoush and - oh wow - it was amazing! I would highly recommend it. I know some reviewers have complained about the prices but considering that you can easily make two meals out of the small gyro, it seems more than reasonable to me. Sadly not a fan, I'm a bit confused by the rating and price. The gyro is decent but that's hard to mess up with all the salt and fat, maybe it's made in house? The pita was on par with what you can get at the local grocery store and the hummus seemed to lack tahini, oil or spices except for a heavy shake of cumin on top. I was craving Mediterranean food after flying into KC and I'm glad I decided to get a gyro platter with rice here. It seems like they're still remodeling their restaurant interior for customers dining in but I didn't mind. The food was served quickly with great flavor and portion size. Hoping to find a replacement for Solav, a great Mediterranean restaurant that recently closed in the area. Sadly this isn't it. I ordered the Chicken Shwarma. It came in a grilled wrap. The meat could have have come straight off a grocery store rotisserie chicken, tomatoes, pickles and a sauce that was like watered down thousand island were added. Very sad. If they added sour kraut it could of been a bad chicken rueben wrap. Hope they don't desecrate the gyros. read more

We ordered: {Entree #1} Gyro Sandwich...the portion size was huge (for only $7.50!) and my husband loved it. I don't typically care for gyro meat but I tried a bite and it was probably my favorite I've ever tried! {Entree #2} Chicken Shawarma Combo...the chicken shawarma comes wrapped in a thin flour tortilla, which I really appreciated because I don't particularly like thicker tortillas. Tried it on a whim based on reviews here and was pleasantly surprised. The food all came out piping hot and man was there a LOT! Don't be fooled by the prices - you can easily share an Gyro combo ($10) with 2 people. Most places I've been stuff the pita half full of lettuce, tomato, and onion and then put some meat on top. This place FILLS the pita with meat, and serves the salad on the side! Easily 2x the meat of most other Gyros I've gotten in the past. The hummus and baba ganoush was excellent as well and served with fresh hot pitas. The falafel was also very good. We'll be back! read more

Interesting set up, you walk in, place your order, and take a number. You go to the right where there are booths and painted windows on the wall, festive music playing (a bit lo Combos come with fries or rice, and a canned soda beverage. We ordered a gyro combo and gyro philly combo. The gyro came chock full of meat, with lettuce, onion, and tomatoes on the side. Fries were a decent portion, perfect for lunch. Both combos came with a good amount of tzatziki (don't love that they came in styrofoam, but I digress) Gyro philly is as it sounds- loads of gyro meat with onions, bell peppers, cheese (provolone? Mozzarella) and then roasted to make the cheese melty and the naan crispy around the edges. That one came with rice- it was delicious but I was full from the main event. Once you're finished dining, you take your number to the front again to pay. Overall, service was fantastic. The front cashier woman wasn't the friendliest, but the cook/server who brought out our meals was very attentive and made sure our needs were met. Bathrooms were clean, but unfortunately no changing table or sink counter large enough to change a baby. I don't have one, but I have plenty of friends that steer clear of places who don't. Found this little gem in the Northland. The location is right off the highway in a strip mall. The menu os located on a wall adjacent to the cashier. They have sandwiches, fries, rice and a buffet that starts around 6pm. The food is a little higher than expected but well worth it. Sat down in the dining area and the staff chatted it up w me while waiting for the food. The wait time was about 10 minutes. When my gyro came it was hot, fresh and well sized. Gyro tasted good and the meat was tender along with fresh veggies and a perfectly soft bread. The fries are just right and they give a half plate sized portion. I will definitely be back to get my Mediterranean when I have a taste for it. read more

I think I need to update this review and push it up to a 5*. One of the only things that had stopped me before was the customer service was a bit lacking. While it still is not overly friendly, I feel like they have really gotten a lot more organized over the past year. So on to the food. This place is dangerous. If I lived closer, or even if my work was a bit closer, I would probably come here a couple times a week. As it is, it is a little bit out of my way, and the Engelwood exit is a mess these days, so my waistline is safe for now. I ordered the Philly Gyro again. I have ordered both the regular gyro, and the Philly Gyro in the past, and for me, the Philly reigns supreme. Its sort of like the old Reeses peanut butter cup commercials, where the chocolate drops into a jar of peanut butter.. How could someone make a Philly Cheese Steak Better, Make it with Gyro Meat and use a Pita for a bun.. How could someone make a Gyro Better, Saute some onions and peppers, and add some mozzarella cheese to it.. Its just that good. Some might find the Philly a little on the greasy side, but for me, regular Gyro meat is a bit dry, so the added grease from melted cheese and sauteing the vegetables blends perfectly. Also, you get a very large portion when come here. They have combos available, but even a big guy like me is usually satisfied with just the gyro itself. I think this is one of those little hole in the wall places that some of you foodies that like Gyros need to check out. They have also recently added Chicken Gyros to their menu, I haven't tried one yet, I am not sure I will deviate away from the Philly Gyro. It has become one of my favorite "sandwiches" if a Gyro is considered a sandwich, in the KC Area. Give em a try, I don't think you will regret it. They say that Mediterranean cuisine is the food from places where the olive tree is native. Clearly the region encompasses a wide variety of cultures each with distinct dishes and flavors. This joint embraces the flavors that are universal to that cuisine, the ones that we are all looking for, the ones that will save us once and for all from board culinary offerings. Walking in, the layout is that of a smaller place with just a few tables in front of the counter. The menu is not complicated and is posted just behind the front area. They are very friendly and will take your order to be freshly prepared. If you order to go, you can sit in the front area. If you are staying to enjoy the ambiance of the place you will no doubt quickly learn that a doorway that leads to more seating. Sometimes they have music sometimes they don't - I prefer the soft Mediterranean pulses and wish it were more consistent. If you sit in the adjoining room a member of the staff will bring the food and drink to your table. Let's get to the food - the gyro is simply excellent! I highly recommend the perfectly seasoned and generously served succulent morsels of lamb and maybe beef. The seasoning is a winner with the flavors of garlic, oregano maybe cumin and marjoram or rosemary and thyme. Served on a pita with iceberg, tomato and red onion. You also get the Tzatziki a yogurt based sauce with garlic, olive oil and maybe vinegar. Missing was the cucumber you would normally expect, but even with it's absence the flavor is nice and works with the food. They serve the shawarma in a novel way to me. I am used to it being similar a gyro, but this is almost a salad in a grilled wrap. My dining pal loved it - LOVED IT. I did not. You can get a side of saffron rice or fries with the combo meals (and a drink), but I have never explored beyond the fries which are also very good. The fries are sometimes coated and sometimes not - not sure if that's a kitchen preference or just a cost of good thing. We have also gotten the hummus. It was delightful with a nice creamy texture and tangy, olive oil flavor with the perfect amount of sumac sprinkles to top it off. Bottom line? Get yourself to this lovely place and eat up some incredibly enjoyable food. read more

This place was top-notch. My wife had the falafel combo, I had the gyro combo, and my son had the burger; all three fantastic, and great customer service throughout. We'd been hoping to try the chicken but, as the day we went was a particularly busy one for them, all their chicken was depleted (as was their rice). I'll definitely be back to try the chicken because of how great the food we did get was; use your KC BBQ restaurant strategy and go early to get the goods before they run out. Our cashier was very helpful and apologetic that they were out of the chicken, and offered us a free dessert because we couldn't get the things we wanted; this is above and beyond good service, and I promised I wouldn't hold their being popular and successful against them! read more

This place has went downhill. Arrived no dining room and no seats. None at all. Not even to sit while you wait for takeout. They only had 2 food items available. I repeat. It was lunchtime and they only had two menu items. And of course they didn't have what we came in for. Then I asked for an extra side of sauce and I was told "we dont do extra sauce". Huh! Finally the gyro meat was cut thin, like the kind you find in the grocery store. Very disappointing, sad meal. I paid 14.99 for a large gyro. The meat was dry and way to salty. The sauce was so thick it couldn't cover the whole sandwich. You think at that price you would get a side or even a drink. 10/10 would not recommend. I hope the owners read this so they can make some changes! read more
