Our 1st time checking this place out! We did carry out right at the end of their evening. Everything was ready when we arrived and piping hot for the drive home. Wow this gyro is big!!!! It was too much in 1 meal for me. The meet was very thinly sliced just as I would expect. You can get the meal with fries or rice. We added in the hummus and quite the spice with the chili oil!!!

Stopped in around 1:30 . Not busy at all. Greeted immediately. Man taking orders informed us they were short staffed ( he was actually the cook). He was very friendly. We ordered and had a seat. Food took about 15 min. Gyro sandwich small is big! A lot of meat. It was seasoned well. We also had chicken shawarma wrap with side of rice. It too was tasty. Loved the garlic sauce. First time having Dolomites. They reminded me of stuffed cabbage especially the filling. Despite the staff shortage it was a good experience.

Food was delicious! We ordered the large gyro. Everyone who helped us was so sweet and helpful. They are remodeling so a lot going on inside. But that didn't bother us! The food and staff was fantastic! Would 100% go again!

The cash receipt

Gyro combo and chicken pita came out to $26! Ceiling was leaking right next to our table, the rice was extremely salty couldn't finish it. It couldn't have been more obvious the meat was frozen stuff reheated because there were cold spots that didn't get fully warm. Nobody was there so we got greeted immediately, I wish their food was as great as their service. Also no soda machine available so only one bottled water was available to drink with all the salty food.

Order

I will NEVER order from Gyro Grill KC again! I ordered 2 plates and requested fries for sides with a side of yellow rice(paid separately for as viewed on my order details, pic attached). My husband received the food with 1 side of fries and 1 side of yellow rice, no extra side of rice I PAID for ($5.00) . When my husband asked the employee, they said no it's all there despite my husband repeatedly pointing out the order details on the receipt! They will mess up your order, REFUSE to fix it, and try to gaslight you into thinking you're wrong. My husband gave up and left. If you want a business to steal your money and not give you the correct order, come here! Gaslighter Gyro Grill KC! Also, oddly when I repeatedly call to discuss their mistake, no one answers. You guys lost a customer. Good luck keeping customers, you'll need it.

Falafel

This definitely is a little treasure for all Mediterranean food lovers. Ordered "falafel" which had an amazing consistency, crispy on the outside and soft & flavorful inside. "Chicken shawarma wraps" which was once again really flavorful and the garlic sauce, pickles, tomatoes and chicken all blending really well. A must try out place. Pricing is little high compared to the other places.

The options this place offers is appetizing. I really wanted 3 different sandwiches and finally settled on the Wagyu Nebraskan. The Dutch crunch bread is amazing! Now, this kind of bread is not for those with sensitive palates, meaning you might find it difficult to eat the crunchy top of the bread. You know, like when you eat dry crunchy cereal. But if you can take smaller bites, it's not as difficult to eat and it's so tasty! I'm a big fan. The meat was plentiful, the cheese was good, and the sauce was delicious. I enjoyed the sauerkraut as well. The sandwich just works really well together. I got a churro cookie and wow, that thing was amazing. I enjoyed every single bite and crumb of that big chewy delicious cookie. I need more cookie. And more sandwich. This place is yummy. And the location is just FUN!

Bay Boy is THAT Boy! I'm thrilled to have another location of Bay Boy in the Northland, which is…read moresuch an up and coming neighborhood. This Bay Boy is a small window located inside The Commons which is connected to Cinderblock Brewery but, don't be fooled by its small stature it still carries the full menu of the West Plaza location. The one thing it boasts is you can grab a brew from with The Commons bar or from Cinderblock while your sandwich is crafted. And don't fret because these sandwiches are well worth any wait they may take! What makes Bay Boy utterly unforgettable is the Dutch crunch bread. This unique crackly slightly crunchy but still, oh so pillowy soft bread is the perfect vessel to hold all the fillings of any of the sandwiches on the extensive menu. My number one recommendation sadly is not always on the menu but if you catch it you better order it! It is called The Blue Blaze and it consists of juicy white meat turkey, peppery arugula, melty mild white cheddar and locally sourced spicy blueberry jam. It's the perfect combination of sweet and savory with a kick. Another winner is the Wagyu Nebraskan if you want a bougie take on a Rueben. The Wagyu corned beef is locally sourced and is melt in your mouth paired with a slightly sweet kraut, nutty Swiss cheese and the tangy thousand island this sandwich is an elevated take on a classic. Another winner, well let's just face it any sandwich at Bay Boy is a winner winner chicken dinner (in the words of the iconic Guy Fieri), but let's focus on another rift of a classic sandwich the El Jefe. This is Bay Boy's take on a Cubano but unlike its predecessor the bread isn't flat or pressed it's on a Dutch crunch roll like every sandwich on the menu. The mojo pork is buttery and fatty- in a good way- making the meat so moist that combined with salty ham, melted Swiss and zingy briny pickles makes for a killer combination. Don't forget the mustard! And how Bay Boy makes it there own is with an addition of a zesty vibrant red pepper sauce. You can't help but to love El Jefe. I could go on and on about how each sandwich is unparalleled but, I'll just bore you with one more...The Bay Boy, I couldn't cover Bay Boy's without mentioning the sandwich that the restaurant was named after (or was it the other way around) anyways it doesn't matter. The Bay Boy is a cold sandwich (unlike the other ones I mentioned which are all toasty) which may sound simple but, the medley of flavors is paired down perfection. No pile of meats just stand alone Soppressata which shouldn't need any introduction because it's the superior salami. This sandwich gets sauced down with not one, not two but four sauces that make the sandwich anything but dry. Classic mayo and mustard are alongside a creamy pungent garlic sauce and a red pepper sauce, which is a mix of cherry and banana peppers. Then produce is added for freshness, think lettuce, tomato and zippy raw red onions (my personal favorite) with pickles of course! This truly is a sandwich masterpiece.

The cafe's interior design is modern, chic and comfortable with a mix of booth and table seating. I can usually find a seat for 2-4 people, groups larger than that may have a hard time finding a seat during peak times like weekend mornings. Seasonally, McLain's offers outdoor seating, too. Best of all, the staff makes you feel right at home - welcoming, friendly, helpful, hardworking and clean. Parking is angled street parking out front. Since then they've expanded with several locations and I end up going to closer locations. But recently the monthly special was out at my normal Longboards but this location had it, so I ended up back in the old stomping grounds. I ordered online with no issues. They have a lot of parking. The building is pretty good sized, they basically have two rooms, one is just seating. Hawaiian vibes. Service is always friendly. I had a brief wait but my food was super fresh so I didn't mind. On my most recent visit I tried the monthly special, which was the Shaka surf and turf wrap. It was large and I had enough for two meals. I liked the tempura shrimp and the noodles. The steak had good flavor. I really like the originality of the monthly specials and tend to gravitate towards those over the regular menu but everything I've tried has been good. Check out their social media to find out more about their specials. I love that they offer hummus as a side and I always get it. They also have chips and some soft drinks. They do special collab kombuchas that I occasionally get and have liked too. Definitely check them out if you're in the area.

I can't speak for the in-store vibes since I got takeout, but from the website I did enjoy their fun marketing. I got the cabin chicken wrap, cabo steak wrap, and s'mores wrap. To start, the savory longboard wraps were fantastic and creamy without taking away from the salty and juiciness of the meat. The s'mores was a disappointment - I could barely see the marshmallows. Either add more or use dandies marshmallows instead please. Overall good experience and I would order their savory dishes again.

What really stood out right away was the service. The lady taking our orders was incredibly nice and personable, and she actually took the time to walk us through the menu to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. I went with the #5, which is their version of a Sicilian Muffuletta. It was phenomenal. It's stacked with mortadella, salami, provolone, ham, and Swiss cheese, topped perfectly with a red wine vinaigrette chopped olive salad, all sitting on a beautifully toasted seeded loaf. One of my friends ordered the #20 Reuben, and it was a masterpiece. We're talking melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu corned beef, legit sauerkraut from Brooklyn, house-made Russian dressing, and melty Swiss, all piled high between two buttery, toasted slices of marble rye bread. Naturally, I also grabbed a couple of their homemade chocolate chip cookies, and we got a raspberry and blueberry tiramisu that was absolutely terrific. You just can't leave a place like this without hitting the dessert menu! I consider myself very lucky to have experienced this spot. Honestly, if I lived in the area, I'd probably gain 50 lbs--and it would be worth every single ounce!
