    Lamb with Saffron rice.
    Ty C.

Stopped here for lunch on Monday, June 3rd. I ordered the lamb mandi with yellow saffron rice. The lamb was so tender that it fell apart when trying to use a fork to eat it.. i had to switch to a spoon. The two sauces that were provided were both delicious. I covered my meal with both. For dessert, i tried the momemade bakkalava. Wow, so good with lots of nuts and syrup. I will definitely return.

What a gem! I came with my family and we started with baba ghanouj and lentil soup--both were solid, especially the baba ghanouj. We ordered the Aruba's Special Mix and it was a perfect amount for 3 people and we are comfortably and happily full--it came with 2 beef kabobs and 2 chicken kabob skewers and both were delicious. It also came with a side of the most delicious beef-stuffed naan--it was definitely my family's favorite thing on the table, especially with the spicy sauce on the side, so fresh and delicious. I also got a side of French fries (because I swear they're better at ethnic restaurants), which were yummy with the garlic sauce. The dessert was warm cheese kunefe and I was truly in heaven. There was a beautiful cheese pull and it warmed my whole soul. The cherry on top was that the chef is an adorable smiley lady who came out to check on us. When I took my soup to go, she even gave me more lentil soup to go with it. I think she also makes cakes, as someone was ordering a cake from her for the next day. Her husband took our orders, so it is a delightful family business. The only negative thing I have to say is that the restaurant is cold, but I quickly forgot when the food arrived (just bring a jacket). I would be excited to come back!

The food and service at this small, family-run business were stellar during my dine-in lunch visit. This is truly a new and hidden gem. I sampled several items including their hummus, the baba ghanouj, the fresh salad (with a good variety of veggies and a tasty dressing), the warm and fresh pita bread, the decadent cheese kunefe dessert (enough for two), and the mint tea. All were delicious, and flavor-packed. The chicken shawarma with fries ($8.99) included a wrap packed with plenty of tasty, moist, premium chicken, while the fries were meaty and not greasy (just the way I like them). The wonderfully charming service from the owners (Aruba and her husband) was the star here. It was like having your grandmother lovingly prepare some of her family recipes for you. Excellent!

I was looking for mediterranean food on yelp and this place came up so I gave it a try. I am so happy I did. The chicken was moist and so flavorful. the hummus was smooth and yummy. I was very happy they had baklava which is not on the menu. The place is small but we did take out. It was a lot of food, so we had lunch the next day. Definitely !!!! Will be going back. This is my new favorite place.

Alhamdulillah for this small, but mighty Filastini, family-owned Arab restaurant. I can't wait to return and try more, but just wanted to share my thoughts on their wondrous kanafa - a traditional cheese pastry that is sweet, crunchy, cheesy, and just delicious. I ordered three last night for iftar and it was enough for five people. Pop in the oven before serving and cover with the sugar syrup. HEAVEN IN MY MOUTH and an early Eid for me :)

We were in Kansas City for a funeral and had an hour and change between "events" around lunch time. We searched near to where we going and found Aruba's. My wife spent a couple years in Jordan so we frequently try Mediterranean/middle eastern when we get a chance. We were so glad we did. Ordered the stuffed pita (stuffed with a delightful beef) and chicken shawarma for lunch. SO GOOD!!! Some of the best hummus we have ever had, the shawarma was excellent as well. Can't say enough about this unique little gem. Even got to say to Aruba herself who came out of the kitchen to say hello. What a delightful couple and what a delicious restaurant!!!! If you are in KC track this place down. You won't be disappointed.

Furthermore the presentation was sub par it looked as though the vinaigrette bottle ran out as they were decorating it So we had only half the normal flavor from the sauce and none of the flavor from the crumbly ovecooked cheese. We had loved the previously authentic Mediterranean lentil soup BUT this time the soup was not seasoned well! It tasted like plain lentil soup with not enough curry/ turmeric seasoning and too much black pepper and it was not blended well and it had NO shredded carrot which is Traditional for it to have! And Zero saffron flavor I also was not happy with the rosewater Lemonade w/ saffron it was not the original drink we fell in love with... This time it was an artificial lemonade no real lemon juice, too much sugar "no saffron taste" Rosewater taste was there but was off-putting in an artificially flavored dyed drink! Our main Entree was the SHISH TAOUK The chicken chunks did not have the consistency of slow cooked over charcoal chicken, the chicken was quite firm, possibly it was all breast meat? However it did taste good and authentic otherwise! my Turkish coffee was okay not exceptional. We had ordered an extra bowl of soup for son but the black pepper taste was too strong for him to eat it! With 20% tip because I do not punish a good waiter because the cook or Restaurant failed, Our bill was $75.36 needless to say without some major recipe changes and better cook we will not be back!

You feel welcomed the second you walk in, and somehow that warmth makes its way into the food too. I've tried just about every Mediterranean spot in Kansas City, and this one stands out every single time. It tastes the most authentic and the least commercial by far. Everything feels fresh, intentional, and made with care. Nothing tastes rushed or mass produced. There's real love in the food here, and you can taste it. Their dolmas especially take me right back to my grandmother's kitchen. That kind of food memory is hard to put into words, but if you know, you know. Comforting, fresh, flavorful, and made in a way that feels deeply rooted and genuine. With the World Cup approaching and so many people coming through Kansas City, visitors need to know about places like this. These are the local spots worth seeking out. The kind you leave talking about afterward and craving again the next day. And if they have the mint lemonade, order it. The rose lemonade is always incredible too. It was a small touch, but it immediately conveyed a level of attentiveness and professionalism. The highlight of the evening was the service. Kareem was exceptional. He didn't simply take our order--he guided us through the entire experience. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, from explaining dishes in detail to recommending wine pairings that complemented the meal perfectly. He checked on us consistently without ever being intrusive and genuinely made us feel welcome. He wasn't just selling food; he was representing the restaurant and the overall dining experience, and he did so exceptionally well. The restaurant itself strikes a wonderful balance between sophisticated and approachable. It feels upscale without being pretentious. I appreciated the attention to detail throughout the space, including the beautiful brass accents above the bar. The patio looked inviting, although the summer heat made indoor seating the better choice during our visit. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, and every dish we ordered was outstanding. Some of the selections were served chilled, which likely contributed to the speed, but nothing felt rushed. The quality and presentation were excellent. My only minor caution is parking. Depending on when you arrive, you may need to park a couple of blocks away and walk. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's worth planning for. If you're unfamiliar with the area, it may be helpful to call ahead and ask for parking recommendations.
