Best food in Kenosha. Big portions of rice & meat. Super friendly staff will make you feel like a regular. Kebab is great, gyro potato is fantastic, Shawarma, all of it. Never disappointed.

My husband and I tried this for the first time tonight. I've never been a gyro person but a girl I work with had this one day and it smelled amazing! I am giving this place 4 stars strictly for the gyros! They were huge and delicious and were not expensive. We also got a philly sandwich. The menu said it comes with lettuce, tomato and Mayo. Didn't sound too bad but when we started eating the sandwich the Mayo, lettuce and tomato were all in the bottom of the bun. The hot meat was put on top which made the lettuce and tomato all hot and soggy. My husband also had fries and they were ok but just didn't taste fresh. We would definitely have this place again but probably only sticking with the gyros from here on out.

Unknown eggplant dish that I think is fried eggplant.

Great food, quality food, clean casual dining. I enjoyed the baba ganoush topped with Jerusalem salad. I know baba ganoush, and this was yummy baba ganoush. The Jerusalem salad was SO SO fresh! My dining companion had gyro with fries. Ton of fries, ton of meat, fries were delicious! Very, very clean place!!!! Prompt service. I've never seen tzatziki piped like that! It was scrumptious. I would like to try whatever eggplant dish this is next time. I didn't see it on the menu, and didn't have a lot of time in my day to explore (my theory is when in doubt, baba ganoush). But there WILL be a next time.

GYRO GEM We just wanted a gyro sandwich and we found a place near Highway 50 in Kenosha. We walked in and we walked out. The reason why...it didn't feel authentic. I went to the Yelp App and found this restaurant. When we walked in we knew we were at the right place and that we had made a great choice for our food. They have a few tables outside and luckily the weather was nice so we dined outdoors. The best part is that after they took our order they told us they would bring our food to us. This was great because we didn't want to linger inside waiting for our order to come up. The one guy at the front of house was really good. He was running meals to tables and out to cars. He was was definitely working his butt off and going above and beyond. We were so hungry and our eyes were big. We got a couple of gyro sandwiches, onion rings, lentil soup and a chicken shawarma platter. The platter came with hummus, pita bread, salad and yellow rice plus it was topped with a generous amount of seasoned chicken. Everything was so delicious. We even had to take home some leftovers. The pita bread was so good. I talked to the guy behind the counter and he told me they make it fresh daily. Honestly one of the best pita breads I've ever had. The onion rings rocked too. I swear they were homemade but he told me that they were trying a new vendor this week. I told him that they scored and to keep them. He said that many people were complementing them. They fooled me. I really thought they were made in house. The soup was so good. I really need to learn how to make a good Mediterranean lentil soup. This soup kicked some culinary butt. The gyro sandwiches were old school with onion, tomato and sauce. They totally hit the spot. They were why we came here. The hummus was fantastic too. We'd totally come back here. It isn't on a huge main road. Nor is right at the intersection but the locals know it. There was a steady stream of people picking up food. I loved that. It may be hidden but local people know about this gem. It is now on our radar and we can hardly wait to come back.

YUM! I've been there twice, and I tried the gyro and the schawarma. Gyro was better. Huge portions. Cheap!

We had boorsok for our appetizer, fried dough bites that reminded me of funnel cake without sugar, and there were a lot! I had the strawberry mojito drink, and it was fantastic, really tasting of fresh fruit with many mint leaves inside. The khachapuri was extraordinary. They do imeruli style, round and similar to a pizza, the crust beautifully blistered and the cheese thick with a wonderful pull. One of my friends hadn't had khachapuri before and is now a convert. We also had boso lagman, with hand-pulled noodles and beef, and big manty dumplings with flavorful meatballs inside. I requested we get a slice of honey cake, too, and that was a perfect finish to the meal. Sweet but not overkill, and really tasted like honey, graham crackers, and cream. I'm not sure when I will possibly be in this area again, but wow, I would come here again.

The food was superb! Waiting for high quality and freshly made food is worth every bite. I will say we highly recommend the eggplant salad, strawberry ginger tea, and the honey cake! The eggplant salad is perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and what we would call a flavor bomb of a sauce! The service was great our waiter Alybek knew the entire menu and offered recommendations. We really could tell how much he loved the food as well! The ambiance was great really make us feel like we were in a different world once we entered and sat down. Overall, Karavan Restauant is worth a visit as the food, service and ambiance are unlike any other central Asian/European food in the Chicagoland area. You won't be disappointed!

First time here…read more Food: We were excited to try some Somali/African cuisine. For beverages, we ordered the chai tea and the mango smoothie. I was expecting a plain chai tea, but what I received was actually a chai latte. What a wonderful surprise! It wasn't the type of chai latte I might expect from a local coffee shop, but it was better than many I've had. We started with a couple of veggie sambusas. They were excellent. Hot, crisp, and fresh, with a generous filling and served with a side of mint chutney. Together, they made a fantastic flavor combination. We also ordered hummus and pita bread. Both were fresh, tasty, and well presented. The final part of our meal was the Goat Platter. It arrived hot and fresh, with generous portions. The goat meat was delicious and tender. The serving was large enough that I took half home, and it will make great leftovers. Service: The gentleman at the counter was friendly and efficient. He was very attentive, bringing each item to our table. He seemed genuinely proud of the food, its presentation, and our reaction to it. There was also a woman in the back, whom I believe was doing most of the cooking, and I had a chance to thank her as well. Atmosphere: The restaurant is small and unassuming. It was clean and well lit, thanks to the large front windows. It appears that most of their business is takeout, but there are several tables available for dining in. We were the only people eating there during our visit, so it was very quiet. Overall: We were super impressed with this little spot serving excellent Somali/African food. The quality of the food, the warm service, and the generous portions made for a wonderful first experience. We'll definitely be back.
