    Gyro potato dish! 5

Best food in Kenosha. Big portions of rice & meat. Super friendly staff will make you feel like a regular. Kebab is great, gyro potato is fantastic, Shawarma, all of it. Never disappointed.

My husband and I tried this for the first time tonight. I've never been a gyro person but a girl I work with had this one day and it smelled amazing! I am giving this place 4 stars strictly for the gyros! They were huge and delicious and were not expensive. We also got a philly sandwich. The menu said it comes with lettuce, tomato and Mayo. Didn't sound too bad but when we started eating the sandwich the Mayo, lettuce and tomato were all in the bottom of the bun. The hot meat was put on top which made the lettuce and tomato all hot and soggy. My husband also had fries and they were ok but just didn't taste fresh. We would definitely have this place again but probably only sticking with the gyros from here on out.

Unknown eggplant dish that I think is fried eggplant.

Great food, quality food, clean casual dining. I enjoyed the baba ganoush topped with Jerusalem salad. I know baba ganoush, and this was yummy baba ganoush. The Jerusalem salad was SO SO fresh! My dining companion had gyro with fries. Ton of fries, ton of meat, fries were delicious! Very, very clean place!!!! Prompt service. I've never seen tzatziki piped like that! It was scrumptious. I would like to try whatever eggplant dish this is next time. I didn't see it on the menu, and didn't have a lot of time in my day to explore (my theory is when in doubt, baba ganoush). But there WILL be a next time.

GYRO GEM We just wanted a gyro sandwich and we found a place near Highway 50 in Kenosha. We walked in and we walked out. The reason why...it didn't feel authentic. I went to the Yelp App and found this restaurant. When we walked in we knew we were at the right place and that we had made a great choice for our food. They have a few tables outside and luckily the weather was nice so we dined outdoors. The best part is that after they took our order they told us they would bring our food to us. This was great because we didn't want to linger inside waiting for our order to come up. The one guy at the front of house was really good. He was running meals to tables and out to cars. He was was definitely working his butt off and going above and beyond. We were so hungry and our eyes were big. We got a couple of gyro sandwiches, onion rings, lentil soup and a chicken shawarma platter. The platter came with hummus, pita bread, salad and yellow rice plus it was topped with a generous amount of seasoned chicken. Everything was so delicious. We even had to take home some leftovers. The pita bread was so good. I talked to the guy behind the counter and he told me they make it fresh daily. Honestly one of the best pita breads I've ever had. The onion rings rocked too. I swear they were homemade but he told me that they were trying a new vendor this week. I told him that they scored and to keep them. He said that many people were complementing them. They fooled me. I really thought they were made in house. The soup was so good. I really need to learn how to make a good Mediterranean lentil soup. This soup kicked some culinary butt. The gyro sandwiches were old school with onion, tomato and sauce. They totally hit the spot. They were why we came here. The hummus was fantastic too. We'd totally come back here. It isn't on a huge main road. Nor is right at the intersection but the locals know it. There was a steady stream of people picking up food. I loved that. It may be hidden but local people know about this gem. It is now on our radar and we can hardly wait to come back.

And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. It is first come first served and you grab your own tables. I've been there on weekends and weeknights and they get pretty packed. The food is flavorful and quite tasty. The chicken was super tasty and I loved the block of feta. Although, for 15.00, I could get double the salad and chicken and get pita bread at another local Greek restaurant. Was looking forward to trying their Pastitsio but they were out of it. Spinach pie was a very good second choice! Only downside was no liquor license and we didn't think to ask if we could byob.... They served fountain drinks and nice jugs of cold water ....one infused with cucumbers which was a nice touch. All in all very good food and way more affordable than a fancy Greek (or Mediterranean ) restaurant. Didn't have room for dessert. But looked like some nice offerings. Nikkos offers a wide variety of food, not just Greek. Burgers, dogs, Italian beef, etc. I know from experience both Mediterranean and Middle Eastern places generally offer very good burgers, but I haven't personally tried Nikkos'. I must try them soon. What I *have* tried are Italian beef, gyro, and chicken, both in plate and sandwich forms. Gyro and chicken dishes did not disappoint. Their chicken kebab plate is my daughter's new go-to Greek dish, and I can personally attest to their gyro and tzatziki sauce. Super legit. Also, French fries are good. I've tried their Italian beef now twice, but both times I thought they didn't do a very good job getting rid of beef taint. Gravy was okay; nothing special. I'd personally put them right at the same level as Portillo's. It's got a very old-school diner feel to the place. Menus are displayed with pictures over the counter, making it super easy to read and order. As far as friendliness of the cashier goes, I'd rate them 3 of 5. I was greeted and tended by a very nice lady once, but it was two grumpy dudes the other time who were all business and no play. Nothing wrong with their work ethics or order accuracy or anything. They were just unpleasant. Just so I'm clear, these encounters don't usually deter my star ratings. More so an FYI. All in all, I'm happy with my Greek plates at Nikkos. I'll probably go back to try rest of the other menu items like shish kebab or even a burger.

The fresh pita bread tears apart in beautiful layers, the vegetables are rich with flavor, and the chicken is so juicy and well seasoned. I literally can't help but finish my entire plate when I order from here. The kebab sandwich also comes with a generous service of Tzatziki which balances out all of the rich grilled flavors.
