Thank goodness for late night Halal restaurants. Gyro King is conveniently open until 3AM! They have a parking lot in the back of the building, so don't drive too quickly because it's easy to miss the driveway. I came a little after 9pm on a Sunday. There was a constant influx of people coming in for pick-ups. Despite how busy it was, I was able to get my food very quickly. Customer service isn't the friendliest here. They're not very interactive and just want you to order and go. I ordered a chicken platter ($9). It comes with rice and salad. For the salad, you can choose your toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, onion, cucumber, chickpeas, peppers, etc.). And of course, you can't forget the sauces. I always always always go for white sauce and hot sauce. You get a generous portion of food for the price and it's easily enough for two meals. The chicken and rice were good quality. Seasoned and delicious, but also on the saltier side. Was it the best platter I've ever had? No. You ever had a meal that was just missing IT? That IT factor. Yeah. For the price and the amount of food you get, it's still worth getting a meal here. Very budget friendly and convenient.

A year later and still aspiring for 4 stars! Ordered pickup via UberEats. Food was ready in a timely manner and prepared as requested. "Lamb", chicken, and rice were all dry and not as flavorful as I remember them being. Portion was still decent, although I noticed less salad, and probably a slightly smaller portion overall. Service by the gentlemen behind the counter was brusque, as usual. Still probably the best Halal platters in the area.

I got takeout for lunch from Gyro King and was impressed by the generous portion size and reasonable prices. The chicken and lamb platter was a standout - succulent and flavorful. One platter is enough food for two people. I couldn't finish it for lunch and ate the rest for dinner.

Paid for 3 meals to eat one :-)

I wish I could give this place negative stars...I could see why nobody was sitting inside. This place has provided me with the WORST customer service I have ever experience IN MY LIFE! The type of service that makes you walk in hungry & leave with a completely soiled appetite. I truly feel bad for even leaving a review like this, but this type of treatment cannot go on. I asked for sauce on the side MULTIPLE TIMES, and when I saw the lake he dumped onto my food I stopped him & said, "I asked for sauce on the side." To which he argued with me about the way I ORDER MY OWN FOOD? Instead of arguing with the customer, perhaps he should have taken accountability for mishearing or forgetting the order? Instead, he forced me to pay for a new order & now I'm going home with 2 meals I won't be eating. I would never have argued with someone over something like that...I know how I ordered the food I would eat vs. NOT eat. Fast forward 2 weeks. My boyfriend found a WORM inside his food!!!!!! I can't emphasize enough how DISGUSTING this place is.

Just came across this local gem! There's a wide array of options at a reasonable price (lamb, chicken tikka, falafel..etc). I would also add that you get a generous amount. I ordered the chicken platter and it was amazing! It was $9 and 100% worth it. Side note: There is also parking in the back! Definitely coming back soon!

Ok so DID NOT know this place existed in my town. DID NOT know they were so close! DID NOT know how yummy they are. DID NOT know how delicious they are. DID NOT know how reasonably priced they are. DID NOT know how popular they are until very recently. DID NOT know how awesome this place is! Super Friendly service, great menu, great pricing and tasty dishes! You can see how they prepare your meals as you wait for your take out (unless you call ahead). We tried a chicken and gyro platter, gyro and chicken tenders on our first try. They were all hands down DELISH!!! Nothing is greasy nor fatty which is a huge plus! On our second visit we called ahead and ordered for a group of us at home. We ordered three of the same fabulous filling and tasty platters, falafel and chicken tenders again. Oh and their hot sauce is hot sauce indeed so beware! Everything was amazing!! Our guests were delighted and surprised by how delicious the food was. If you can't tell by now, I am super excited to have this lil gem in our town! I am Obsessed! Good luck Gyro King. Keep doing what you are doing! Nothing seems to last in that space but I think we have a winner-Finally!

Food was tasty and not overly salty. Lamb and chicken tikka were a hit. Ask for the white sauce and hot sauce on the side because they tend to drench it when you don't request it. Got a sweetness from the chicken in the rice platter so chicken tikka is the way to go. Love the added ingredients in the salad. Not your generic ice berg. There were fresh peppers, cucumbers, corn and olives. Happily adding them to our weekly rotation!

Never disappoints! When I need some halal late at night, I will always order from here. Chicken rice platter is delicious and they offer a generous portion. They also provide sauces on the side if you ask. They offer an area to dine in and seems clean. They are open until 3 AM so they are open for a late meal! Highly recommend!

I ordered the chicken gyro with no onions. Unfortunately they added green peppers and a ridiculous amount of tzatziki sauce. Make sure you custom order your sandwich. I called to complain the man apologized but did nothing else My sandwich in the garbage and I am a very unhappy customer

Yucky falafel that was not edible and thrown away.

Rude and poor customer service. The falafels in the pita were overcooked and very dry. Couldn't eat it. Gyro was good till I found a hair in it. I give this place a big NO!

This Gyro King is 1 in about 3-4 other locations of the chain in Bergen County and they just opened up in Dumont on Friday. This is definitely a great edition to town, stands out against all other cuisines. I had a chicken platter, chicken wings, and falafel. (1) The chicken platter is the best bang for your buck (only $7) and you get to choose what's in your salad if you order in-store. The chicken itself has a nice blend of spices, but that doesn't make it spicy. The white sauce is light and creamy and the hot sauce is HOT! A few drops puts some hair on your chest! (2) The chicken wings are small, but they are crispy and flavorful. (3) The falafel was great! Light and crispy, not too salty. A nice bite to complement your meal. Overall, I had a great experience at Gyro King and I recommend giving them a try if you want an affordable, tasty meal.

Walked in and smelled terrible, like walking into a used bathroom. The cashier was so rude. We just walked right back out.

This place offers up fantastic Mediterranean fare and is run by some of the nicest people around. When they saw my husband eyeing a platter of an interesting dessert, they offered us both small spoonfuls to sample (I don't remember what it was called, but it was coconutty and delicious). I adored the falafel platter, which was a behemoth serving of 6 falafels, freshly made hummus, tabbouleh, and pita. The falafels were freshly fried and had a lovely sprinkle of sesame seeds. Coupled with a smooth smear of homemade hummus, my eyes were fluttering shut as I ate. My husband's side of the table went similarly silent as he dug voraciously into his mixed shawarma sandwich. He especially appreciated how they toasted the wrapper, which was more like a lavash than a pita. Before we left, we got a baba ghanoush to go. Our jaws dropped when we saw the serving size. We're so used to getting tiny containers from other spots that this giant aluminum platter of eggplant spread - complete with a little pool of fresh olive oil drizzle and stack of warmed pita - had us stilled with shock. We appreciated the sides and variety of sauces that came with our meal. The small cups of mayo, tzatziki, and spicy sauce, along with olives, pepperocinis, and pickled radishes, really helped complete our meal. These small and thoughtful touches made this meal feel more like eating in someone's home kitchen rather than a restaurant. On that note - know that everything is made from scratch and to order, which means the food will take a little longer than you might expect from a fast casual spot. This sweet gem is located on a random street in Hackensack, and a bit hard to find if you're not looking for it because there isn't much to draw attention to it. There's a small parking lot right in front of the restaurant, making it easy to drop in for a quick meal or to-go order.

Either find on the street nearby to walk or in the very tiny space in the front (to which good luck if you try to back out). However, that said the food more than makes up for it. Extremely fresh food made from scratch, you can tell the quality is there looking at the kitchen. This is also the only place to this day that I've found in the area that serves hot grape leaves, which are my favorite item on the menu, most mediterranean spots only make them cold. Their platters are also very filling and solid portion size. If you prefer to go lighter, there are also sandwich options with or without fries. Seating is very small, so takeout is their main business though you could certainly dine in if you'd like. Service has always been solid, the owner is very friendly! I'll keep coming back despite the tricky parking.

As for the sandwich, I thought it only tasted okay. I was very hungry at that point so if I thought my sandwich was okay then I know I'm not a fan of it. The flavoring was bland, I asked for spicy sauce but didn't taste any. I also asked for the fried eggplants to find out as I'm biting into it that there was none. Make sure you watch them when asking for your choosing. They might now hear you and you'll just end up feeling disappointed like me because I love the taste of eggplants. Regarding the falafel ball, I thought it was too doughy. I usually like them a little more loose and garlicy.

Allow me to paint the scene for you: my lovely wife and I were on our way back to her folks after a late-night jaunt to TJ Maxx. Apparently, her sister had tried on a terrific black number that she just HAD to have. As it turned out, their tastes were not completely aligned as we left the store empty-handed and returned to Monsey for a couple of consolation slices. We parked in the rear and entered through the service entrance. I love service entrances - I feel a bit like I'm better than everyone else. We saw a bunch of teenagers sitting in their respective "booths", if you can call them as such, which harkened back to high school memories with the wrestling team and girls who wanted to be seen with lettermen (I asked my mother-in-law if I should capitalize lettermen - she said no). The line for ordering wasn't as long as my dear wife remembered from her days of yesteryear, and it was our turn after a quick perusing of the shoppe's wares. I went in for a "vegetable" slice and the missus chose a regular cheese slice and a spicy fries. I immediately realized how wrong I was for using such a vague term as "vegetable" and asked the strapping young man for clarification. He told me he rang me up for a blizzard, and that I could change it but he sounded a bit harried in his conveyance. I told him no matter and summarily paid the $11 and change. Our pizza was ready in under 3 minutes and my wife, pregnant of 9 months, rose to the occasion and collected our order. After securing our own booth, not unlike the booths occupied by teens the store over, I began chowing down. The dough was a bit soft and so I employed the classic fold-your-slice-in-half technique. Rookie mistake. Obviously, to any innocent bystander, this was my first blizzard slice. Within seconds, oily sauce began pouring forth from every crevice. Allow me to explain the blizzard. Take a pie crust, cover it with mozzarella, diced peppers, onions and tomatoes, then top that with their signature house sauces - both sweet and spicy. The sauce overwhelms the slice. I enjoy a neat slice of pizza and I enjoy a true slice of pizza - the blizzard was neither. A slice of pizza should look a certain way. There's a bit of variance for and aft but when you verge too far from the original slice of pizza....well that just ain't pizza anymore. I summarily wolfed down my slice, the exact way my mother warned me not to for the first 27 years of my life, then got to work on the fries. The slice tasted fine, but it was a nightmare to consume. The fries were quite tasty, within a standard margin of soggy/crispy variance throughout. The missus finished up and then went to the counter for round two - takeaway for the in laws who were watching kid #1 at their home. I went to wait in the car. Within 5 minutes, she shoves her pregnant stomach through the driver's side door (I couldn't locate my license or wallet when we left for TJ Maxx all those hours earlier) with 2 boxes stacked on each other and proceeds to delve into this drawn out story with color photos and diagrams complete with circles and arrows on the back of each one explaining in detail what each one was for illustrative purposes to be used in the event I didn't grasp the gist of the situation. As it turned out, the young man behind the counter who, we'll call Elchanan to enhance the review, and also his name was Elchanan, asked my beautiful wife how I enjoyed my slice. True to form, she told him "it's totally fine, but he doesn't enjoy messy slices." Above and beyond the call of duty for such a station, Elchanan showed his true colors and rose to the occasion. The story transmitted to me went something like, "he quickly said, 'I know which slice he wanted!' And then he threw it in for free!" There's nothing like free pizza. Especially delicious vegetable pizza. But please, I implore you: don't order the blizzard.
