Friendly, casual, low keyed, good food. I went there for lunch with a friend who lives nearby. They have a good size lunch menu. The staff and service were excellent. The food was fresh, fast and very good. We shared the babaganoush. I had the mousaka. My friend had the cheese pie with lemon soup. We barely made it through a shared piece of baklava (so yummy). Great food! I have done take-out from here probably two dozen times in the past few years. I really like their food. I always get a small Greek salad, and it is plenty big! My husband loves their burgers and gyros. It looks like a small old-school pizzeria inside. I would suggest take-out. I always ask for (and I think pay for) extra yogurt sauce, and 20% of the time, they forget to give it to me. read more

This is by far my favorite Greek restaurant. Ever! Prices are good, food is DELICIOUS, and the service is quick. This isn't fine dining and I wouldn't come here for a first date, but I have never been disappointed coming here for a quick lunch or dinner, to stay OR go!! I tend to get the same thing every time I come (chicken gyro, spanakopita, Greek salad, maybe fries if I have someone to share with) but the menu is really pretty extensive and has a range of options for adventurous and picky eaters alike! I brought my sister here for the first time last night and she made me promise to bring her back every time I come home to Long Island which I certainly have no problem doing. read more

My wife and I grew up in Jackson Heights Queens NY..near Astoria and always got our Greek food from the superb Greek restaurants that were located there.. When we moved to Long Island we were never able to find anywhere that offered Greek cuisine even close to the quality and flavors of Astoria.. That is until we gave Gyro Palace a try.. The very first thing that caught my attention was the friendly welcoming attitude of the staff.. Not to mention that the open kitchen was immaculate.. We looked at the menu and Holy Cow!! They have a genuine LAMB Souvlaki (not chicken not pork) although they offer that also.. The lamb was perfectly seasoned and served on a very fresh pita with the freshest lettuce, tomatoes and onions.. Really quality stuff.. I could go on for pages more about the rest of the items on the menu but suffice it to say that unless you are traveling to Astoria.. You cannot get better Greek cuisine than at the Gyro Palace in Merrick !! read more

Clean, small, busy place. Really fresh food. I've had the greek salad wrap w grilled chicken there twice. It's great that they also have children's menu. They have about 4 booths and two tables if u want to dine in. They have their own parking lot. Definitely recommend. read more

Great food! Being married to " a Greek" I sought of know authentic Greek food.. and Gyro palace has it! George's gyros are the best around. My favorite is the old fashioned gyro with the French fries in it! Damn it's good. Appetizers are fresh and tasty, the desserts are delicious and not overly sweet like many Greek desserts. Food is decent at best but my biggest issue is how unfriendly they are. Tried ordering for a party and had a few questions since it was my first time ordering from them. The guy on the phone was unhelpful and rude. They were legitimate questions about portion size and recommendations. ATTITUDE IS CRUCIAL. While the food is delicious, and worth every penny, I will NEVER eat from this restaurant again. I walked in with my boyfriend to order & take out. We walked up to the counter to grab a menu so we can decide on our order and we weren't even greeted. I had to say hello to a young blonde lady & a stone faced man. After a min or so, we put in our order and we waited by the counter. One patron, called the blonde girl over (she was also doing the table service) and asked for a small container of white sauce to finish with the rest of her meal. She goes back behind the counter and the stone faced man grunts, "what she want?" The blonde girl says, "a little more of the sauce" he then nastily replies, "charge her $1; if she was a regular maybe I wouldn't, but $1" at this point, the delivery guy walks in and is obviously in a hurry to gather his next orders. This stone face guy then turns to him & says "what are you in a rush for? This isn't Domino's, they don't need it in 30 min or less." I was shocked. (The delivery guy is bringing this restaurants food in a hurry which not only guarantees hot food for the customer, but better tips for him) At this point, I had already had enough of the arrogance and it wasn't even towards me!!! I wanted to leave the food, but we were starving and at that point I just wanted to get out of there. I mean the prices are a little high which I wouldn't mind if the service and food were worth it but I don't need to listen to people being belittled. I'll be traveling the extra few miles to Rockville Centre for Greek, at least they are courteous. read more

Not sure why the rating is low. I've been ordering gyros and onion rings from Gyro Palace for years and they never disappoint. Ive never been there but this is one of our staples when we want delivery. They manage to keep the onion rings crispy and the gyro meat and tzatziki sauce is deeeelish! read more

LOVE GYRO PALACE! I work in the area and my coworkers and I always order their delicious food. They are quick, friendly, and priced right. The chicken lemon soup has a perfect homemade quality - real pulled chicken (not that chunky canned stuff) and so flavorful - and comes with warm pita. Out of 3 or 4 other Greek restaurants I've tried, their gyro is by far the best. I always save my leftovers and it's just as good the next day.
