The food here is very good overall. Operates very much like a take-out joint with a no-nonsense approach so don't order or go there to feel loved when you are done. Go there for the food, for the speed, for the convenience. That being said, they are very nice but again don't expect Gyro Gerry or whatever the head guy's name is to be super kind and fluffy. Food is excellent. Cashiers very rude and abrupt. Not helpful for a phone order. Called to place an order and they were not helpful also when I arrived I waited for my food. I did not wait long which is a credit to their cooks who are excellent but the cashiers and the woman especially, was evasive when I asked questions also when I asked for a receipt she reluctantly gave me a carbon of the hand written receipt which was not clear. After checking my receipt I found u had been overcharged. Wow. When the owner is there nothing like this ever happens. He is great. Too bad the cashiers can't even add nor are the straight on the cost of menu items and they dont know that Nassau County sales tax is 8.625% Not 15% 4 x $7.51 = $30.04 + $2.59 = $32.63. Was originally told this was the cost of the four items I bought. 4 x $7.95 = $35.80 is what is should have cost Charged $39.10 Difference. $6.47 or $3.30 It's not the money so much as they way I was treated and the fact that they did not know the correct information and figured "bullieing" their way through the customer is the right thing to do. I will go back because I live the food and the atmosphere is nice when you eat there too. I will not go if the two cashiers are there. That is why I only rated it 3 stars. If the owner was there it would be 5 stars. Overall great food and waitress service is good. Food comes out quickly, is hot, warm or cold depending on the order but they get it right. Walked in the other day and was greeted "hi how are you" I responded "good" but I guess I was not heard. Older woman, seemingly the owner or owner's wife said under her breath "good how are you" - as if she was filling in my response. So rude!!! To a customer?? BUT I LET IT GO nbd ... I went back a few weeks later and the owner was berating the girls working for him. They were all young - high school / college age. Working their BUTTS off, sweating, answering calls all over. And I couldn't believe how rude he was speaking to them - name calling, cursing, rolling his eyes. I can't believe no other comments talk about this. I will never ever go back again. My sis and I usually grab takeout from this place. We have a few usual go-to items that we always order here. Their chicken lemon soup is so great when it's a cold day or if you feel a little under the weather. Their moussaka is delicious. It has a fluffy farina topping with layers of eggplant and potatoes. Since it is an entree dish you have a choice of soup/salad and lemon potatoes/ vegetables/ French fries. Another great dish to try is their lamb shank. It's very flavorful and is served in tomato base sauce with a side of orzo and carrots. The lamb shank just falls apart and no knife is needed. In the mail you can usually find coupons for a free salad or appetizer in the pennysavers. The only think is that the parking lot is small. It shares the lot with another business and it could be tight at times when it's busy. read more

Guy will be up front with you and tell you to just stop being lazy and take out and not get delivery if things are really hitting the fan over there because they're so pop on the weekends! The pita wrap did not fall apart despite the sandwich being packed with lamb, lettuce, tomato wedges, and red onions. The lamb itself was good. It wasn't extremely flavorful, but the quality was certainly on par with the other Greek restaurants in the area. Gyro Palace is conveniently located on Sunrise Highway and prepared my gyro quickly which makes it perfect for takeout. They also have a few trays of fresh Greek sweets available. I came on a recommendation from a friend. It looks like a nothing shop. A small gyro place along the highway with average everything catering to non-returning customer tastes. What a great surprise! It's very much a small family-run restaurant with a takeout counter. The gyros were big, meaty, fresh, flavorful. The looks of the spanikopita and other treats were large and inviting. The falafel is my favorite of all-time. The prices were on par with everything else in the world - no big surprises there. The menu isn't crazy. You will probably recognize everything on there. From my order, the looks of the whole operation and the other food around the restaurant, I wouldn't hesitate to make a go at the entire menu in a week. Each time I'm here, I'm never disappointed! I was going to get my order to go but, decided to have lunch at a table. I ordered a lunch special, Gyro with sweet potato fries. The dish came out piping hot and was super fresh! I enjoyed it immensely! The waitress was super friendly and the owner is a gentleman who is easy on the eyes! With my iced tea, the tab was $11.90. Describing this place as "authentic Greek food," as many reviews on yelp have done, is like saying that a boiled water street cart hotdog is equivalent to a porterhouse steak at a high end steakhouse. I have taken out and dined in at this small, depressing, musty space and have endured the nasty, deep voiced owner who answers the phone for the last time. Let me take you through some of my experiences: Human hair in my Greek salad; Disgusting green tomatoes; Mushy lettuce; Inedibly grisly and way overcooked souvlaki meat; Incomplete takeout orders only discovered after returning home (perhaps if the horse's a## owner who takes the phone orders was not so rude and abrupt on the phone he could actually take the time to shut his big loud mouth and actually LISTEN to what is being ordered and, if fully literate (which is questionable), could actually write down the order correctly); High prices for poor quality in general. How this place has received anything other than one star reviews is beyond me. My review is based upon several visits over a few years because once a year I will break down and say "oh maybe it's changed" and I will try it. It's always the same. I usually order takeout from this little mom and pop Greek restaurant but decided to dine in tonight with my family upon my friends recommendation, very small but cozy inside and very bright! LOL, table top seating was nice but we opted for the comfortable booth on the side which was really comfortable, I believe the owner was floating around very attentive and the entire staff was very friendly from beginning to end, I brought my own wine which Thankfully was allowed because they don't serve alcohol to my disappointment, but I digress& made it work! LOL started off with some delicious hummus/white sauce and fresh pita for an appetizer, very very good! Also had this sausage app which was incredibly unique with a lot of taste! For dinner I had the lamb hot off the grill with delicious lemon potatoes, you can't go wrong with meat and potatoes and this was some of the best I ever had! It was a great portion as well, also came with a delicious Greek salad/homemade dressing and a fantastic lemon chicken soup for the soul!the wife had some funky salad with chickpeas but she seemed to enjoy it, my daughter had the pita pizza upon the recommendation of the waitress and she liked it very much, my son just stuck with the delicious homemade fries, prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of food here and I'll definitely be back soon living only a few blocks away! We tried this place tonigh for the first time and I must say, it was very good! I had the combo platter of gyro and chicken and my other half had the chicken kabob. Good food here. I'm glad I decided to step away from my normal gyro place to give Gyro Palace a shot. I had the homemade gyro which is a regular gyro with French fries in it. I found the French fries to be an interesting add on but besides that the meat was so juicy and it complemented everything else included in the gyro sandwich. My girlfriend had the gyro melt which was gyro meat on an open faced pita with melted mozzarella cheese on top, to die for. I can't wait to come back here and give something else a shot. read more

I went with 4 just because I kind of feel that mayyyyybe the prices are a liiiiiittle high for Greek takeout. Otherwise, Gyro Palace is just perfect. Greek salad with chicken souvlaki is worthy of just going head first with open mouth. Their pita bread is always soft and warm , tzatziki is on point and you get a BIG container. Their hummus is the best I've tried....super smooth and the flavor is mild and perfect. We get takeout from here for lucnh at workpretty often and I always enjoy calling in the order because they are just so nice and funny when you call, like they WANT to make you lunch, which is rare, really....
