We ordered a family meal because my brother-in law was over with his fiance. Unfortunately, the family meal was much smaller than we anticipated. I'm talking pretty tiny where I would consider the sides to be for only two people. Likely, won't be back as of the little food we had nothing was very notable for cause to return. If you haven't been to H& chicken just go now! I've had my eye on this place for a while, and I finally picked up a to go order. This is not your drive through chicken spot. Some stuff is going to take some time and with good reason. The Mac and cheese is probably as close to homemade as you're going to get for it not to be actually made at home. The chicken batter is actually seasoned, so it's not bland chicken. And the skin is nice and crispy crunchy, but the chicken is still juicy. The waffle with the chicken and waffle was so good too! One thing you can count on is that Instagram will definitely hype a place up. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but now the way IG hyped it. I ordered the 15 piece combo with a side of mac and cheese and greens. Added the whiting as well. The chicken isn't made to order and sits out like Popeyes so don't expect it to be fresh and piping hot. It was still decent. Reminded me of Royal Farms. The greens with delicious along with the mac and cheese. I also ordered the 2 piece whiting. It is not on the menu inside however it is available to order on Uber eats. You get two regular pieces of fish. Nothing special. The H sauce is good. Reminds me of a darker chick fil a sauce. The mumbo sauce is tangy but decent nonetheless. Service was good as the woman at the counter was very friendly and moved fast. Offered suggestions and advise me to get the strawberry cheesecake which was hard. Overall it's a decent spot. Food is fresh, chicken is crispy and flavored, service is just ok, food take a little longer to be served due to high volume of orders, great value and very accessible, the biggest lack of this store is that they don't provide AC, is super hot and uncomfortable to eat inside, yes, you can eat inside this store, but as today 06/09/2025 there's no AC WORKING! Too hot! We gotta get out, it was to hot. That's the only reason I give this place a 3 stars, I strongly believe that comfort is very when you run a restaurant business. read more

So I ordered H and Chicken for the first time and the fact I have no pictures to show says a lot . Meaning their food was good after first bite I wasn't able to think of anything else but stuffing my face lol . The fried chicken is crunchy , moist and well seasoned . That mambo sauce looks deceptive and little watery looking but the flavor packed an unforgettable punch. The waffle was sweet and delicious with those tenders made it new favorite in my house. The Mac and cheese rivaled my grandmother's lol . Now I didn't try their biscuits but did try their steak and cheese which was good like it's real chucks of ribeye steak which gave a different texture. You can't go wrong with H & Chicken. They recently opened a new location in West Hyattsville on Ager Road, replacing the KFC. There's a no-fee parking lot at this location. And service is pretty quick. You can take out or dine in as it's a fast casual restaurant, that's also clean. And sometimes I do UberEats. They are open early for breakfast and closes 11pm or midnight. My go to's are the chicken and waffles. The chicken is fried perfectly with a nice crisp and seasoned well. It's also tasty cold. I love their mambo sauce as it's not thick and sweet, but has a nice sweet and tangy balanced taste. It's a pretty descent waffle. I don't know who is making their Macaroni & Cheese, but it is delish. So much so, I think when I'm preparing a dinner when it's required, instead of making it I'm going to order it from here. Yeah, it's that good. The fries are great. And their Banana Pudding is dangerously perfect. I use to order the same thing from Southern Style Chicken and Waffle in DC. Pretty solid fried chicken. Mac tasted good, very comfort-foodie, but soooo oily. Way too much Mayo in the coleslaw. Fries were great. Got delivery via DoorDash and the first dasher swiped the order so we waited almost two hours for our order - just a couple three piece meals and tenders. The new dasher kept being told 5 minutes then finally said it was already picked up. Really ended up having good service from the dasher rather than the restaurant. They forgot all the sauces once we finally received the order! We never really get fast food type food, and probably won't get this again. read more

I am not mad at this spot at all. It may not be the BEST fried chicken, but it is good for the price point. On, Thursday's they have 10 whole fried wings for $11.99 and you can't beat that. It is not cooked to order but sits under the heat lamp like a Popeyes, but it is definitely not old. Overall, I would return. It is just a revamped version of the old Crown fried chicken. I also, got the Mac & Cheese, it is baked and not bad. My only complaint is that it is oily. Don't expect southern Grandma's mac and cheese, but it is way better than Popeyes or KFC's. The service is horrible. walked in and was not greeted. Stood at the counter for a full 5 minutes while the employees where working. They never acknowledged us, never said a word. I looked behind me to see a digital kiosk where I should place my order. A group of Hispanics came in and place an order with the employees that had not acknowledged us. We talked to the manager (Mohamed - which is not his name but the name he gave. I asked for his last name, he stated he did not have a last name). He gave a nonchalant attitude. H & Chicken Hyattsville (because parking is a REAL THING!) is like Church's, Popeyes and Royal Farms had a baby that took on their best traits. The front staff was attentive until more people came in and they forgot my order but apologized and gave a free tea and extra 2 piece so you can't be too mad because you know Popeyes and Church's would have given you the "oh well" look. The biscuits are Church's with less honey and the chicken is a mix of Popeyes without the crunch and Royal Farms with far less grease. It's a battered chicken not Wingstop/American's Best type fried chicken. The greens are just ok but a healthy option. All the grease that the chicken had went to the mac and cheese :) Don't get me wrong the mac and cheese is a cheesy, greasy heaven but to much will have you wanting a salad because that cheese "oil" is going to make things move unless you have eaten enough of the wonderful biscuits for absorption. The lamb bowl was very good and if the sauce was on the side so i could decide how much i needed would have been perfection. Overall it's a nice place, has parking, no real crazy people and such a wide variety menu that you can order something for even the pickiest of eaters. read more

I found this place on Yelp when I visited a friend just outside of DC. I was grocery shopping for my stay and needed something hot to eat before hunkering down for the evening, so I stopped by H @ Chicken. It was alright--the chicken was somewhat tasty, and the service was good with my order coming out just fine. I just didn't think the flavor lived up to the hype. I ordered the same meal that I have been ordering since it opened. A family meal with 15 wings and 3 sides. My order was wrong 'no big deal we live close' Went back to get the right order. Maryell was RUDE! not only was she RUDE! She took my chicken back and placed it back in the fresh food VERY UNSANITARY!!! I wasn't to concern about the customer service and her being rude.
