As a former employee of this H&M store i have to say that it honestly is one of the better stores around here. You're probably thinking yeah whatever youre just saying that but no... seriously... when we have to make contact with other stores to look for merchandise for customers no one picks up the phone or even cares. all the employees really do try and make an effort to give customer service but honestly it is difficult at times because they work us to the bone. so here is my advice for people interested in shopping at h&m: the clothes are nice and priced fairly. they hold up pretty well for the most part (i have and still wear some pieces that i purchased over 3 years ago) way better than forever 21 thats for sure. There are several different departments of clothing for women and my favorite is trend! unfortunately, trend (which you can tell by the pink sewn label) is only available in a few stores (including the one on SCP NOT the crystal court side) so if you find something for trend at the SCP store and want it somewhere else you need to go to glendale or bev center. The SCP store has the departments trend, modern classic, and everyday; whereas the crystal court store has divided, modern classic, everyday, and logg. We also get certain special pieces at this h&m store that store across the street doesn't. WE DO NOT HAVE A SYSTEM TO CHECK OTHER STORES.... yet! unfortunately if you need something in a different size we have to literally call another store. Not gonna lie, it is a pain in the ass because a lot of the other H&M stores around here either never pick up the phone or literally take 5 minutes or more to come around to start looking for the item. my piece of advice, if you MUST MUST HAVE IT ask for the employee for info about the item and call yourself. Obviously we will call but I've had customers make me call 5 different stores for something that i know is sold out. RETURNS: so ive been looking at other people complain sooo much about our return policy and frankly it makes me angry. the return policy is you have 30 days with your receipt for a full refund on the method of payment. After the 30 days you get merchandise credit (with or without a receipt) for the current selling price. So here is where people start to bitch and moan about how horrible the policy is and this is what i have to say to those people...... DONT SHOP AT H&M THEN... SHOP WHERE THEY LET YOU GET A FULL REFUND AFTER 30 DAYS... with that said good luck finding a store that does that. H&m has a pretty fair return policy and 30 days is more than enough time to decide if you want something or not. A lot of people like to compare H&M to forever 21 and i say why dont you shop at forever 21 then? oh yeah thats right you only get 2 weeks to do an EXCHANGE! you dont even get to return merchandise. Customers need to keep in mind that with the low prices at H&m you're not going to get all your money back like if you went to nordstrom or saks. H&M receives new merchandise almost everyday of the week so we do markdowns and unfortunately sometimes things you pay full price for go on sale. it's just how the cookie crumbles. It has happened to me plenty of times but it doesnt bother me because h&m still has nice, affordable clothes and that's really all i care about. It's almost like when you sign a contract for a loan or a car or whatever, you need to read the fine print and it's printed right at the bottom of the receipt. if you don't agree with the policy then don't shop here. the end. ok.. sorry for the rant about returns... it's just irritating but i digress... h&m is an awesome company and store! if you want to look for affordable clothes that don't get ruined immediately after you wash it one time like forever 21 then h&m is the place for you! oh and the sizes run small so please... just because you're a 2 at another store doesn't mean you are a 2 at H&M. they are european sizes and have honestly gotten smaller over the years so be open minded to the fact that you might even have to go up 2-3 sizes. NO it doesnt' mean youre fat or whatever it's just the clothes. if you are that insecure about your weight and you dont want to shop/buy clothes at H&M because its not "your size" you seriously have other issues you should deal with. read more

Horrible customer service!!! I tried on 3 shirts and found out 1 didn't fit so I gave it back to the girl in the dressing room. Walking around the racks, I changed my mind on one of the shirts so I put it back on the rack where I found it. What's wrong with that? Then out of NOWHERE, an employee just walked from behind me, pulled the shirt like BAM! and start mumbling something. She walked to her co-worker who was with the rack doing go backs and complained to her in front of me. Hold the F**k up. Does this girl expect customers to come in and fold the shirts for them? I was nice enough to put it on the rack where the rest of the stuff belong (dress shirt needs to be folded with pins). If every customer is responsible for what they try on then no store would hire employees. You work in retails, suck it up!! At least I didn't throw the shirt down on the opposite corner of the store! So what did I do? I just came up to the go-back rack and dropped off my shirt and walked straight out the store. Go-back THAT! read more

Great style, affordability and abundant size selections. Customer service always needs improvement, but the above for mentioned makes it almost excusable! This place has better deals than Old Navy for a wanna-be fashionista like me who can be driven by prices. I am particularly drawn to their children's clothes which are constructed well and made with long lasting materials that do great after multiple washes. The shoes and accessories are at the bottom of the list for me though. You need almost a couple hours to go through the entire store! I always find great things for myself and get tons of compliments. read more

I like this place I find good reproduction looking items mostly 60's styled here, and other items like belts and bags I can put with vintage pieces for work. The customer service is always friendly. Plus if you go on your lunch break theres always a long long line for the dressing rooms. read more

If I could give this place a 0 star I would! My friend got her phone stolen in the store and I told the manager and employees and they could care a less. I told them to pull up the security footage and it seemed like that was putting them out. I said to check it immediately and the manager said he would checked in the next couple days, did not care. PS: THERE WAS NO SORRY GIVE !!!. I said I was going to call the police and they were kicking out of the store because it closed at "7", I could care a less if it closes, they should have let us stay in the store and checked the footage. Also, when I told the manager he should have stopped everyone from leaving the store. Does not seem like he knows how to do his job at all and the management above him, needs to hire a more professional employee that cares, not just including him everyone that works there! Customer Service in this store is close to nonexistent. Even the managers are extremely young which isn't a problem but very inexperienced, rude and juvenile in their approach. I personally wouldn't shop in a store where they clearly don't care about you as a customer, cheap fast fashion can be found anywhere and no need to encounter rude employees. read more

I'm feeling generous, so I'm rounding up from 3.5 to a full 4 stars. This location is nice because it's larger and outside the main mall. The one in the mall can be a tight fit, especially when it's swarmed by thousand chicks that are 1/10 my size. The selection isn't better than any of the other locations I've gone to. Yeah, the quality isn't great, but it's decent and the clothes look nice for the most part. I picked up this button-down green top because I wanted to dress like Bella from New Moon. LOL! Ok, maybe I'm only half joking. Sadly. Still, you can save a lot of moola, avoid the larger crowds and look good. Work it, H&M guys, girls, and kids! read more

Love me some H&M for cheap trendy clothing but this location (SCP Main) isn't great. The store is WAY TOO SMALL for all of the stuff they carry! It makes it look messy and it is hard to shop in messy places where you feel like you can't turn around without bumping into something or someone. Plus they don't seem to do a very good job at keeping the mess down to a minimum. I mean come on...lots of places are busy but the staff manages to keep it from looking like a bargain bin! I understand it IS in South Coast and it is a busy location but IT IS IN South Coast so let's not be so ghetto and hire some more people to clean it up! Well, I went there yesterday after a stop at Bloomingdale's and it was so bargain bin-ish that I had to leave. Didn't buy a thing and I usually always find something I 'have to have' or 'need' but the mess was such a turn off I opted to hit Banana Republic. I tried going to the Pasadena H&M late last year but the crazy lines made me stay away. When I heard they were opening a bunch in OC, I was excited but figured I'd check it out when all the grand opening hype died down. I knew they'd opened 2 stores in SCP but had no idea where they were. I just happened to be in the Crystal Court side when I walked right by it. It was about 8pm on a Thursday night, so the traffic there was very light--my chance had come! So I browsed through the racks and noticed that the prices were even more reasonable than I expected. However, the items were not quite as stylish as I'd hoped. Most of the stuff in the place reminded me of my closet, circa 1983--a lot of cheap knit stuff with all these rainbows, hearts, and whatnot. I tried on a bunch of different stuff to get a feel for their sizing and fit, and ended up buying a short-sleeved button front shirt and knee-length shorts for around $35--not bad. On the way out I spied a pair of heeled polka-dot flip flops. Darn, how'd I miss those? Oh well, next time. Would I go back again? Sure, but always on a weeknight close to closing time ;) read more

Worst experience of my life . The Rudest manager and so uneducated , I guess they hire people from high school to take care of their unkept stores . Such a racist !! Because of my accent she threatened to call security when I told her that she was repeating herself about her unrealistic store policy... And rolled her eyes at me from the get go . Oh My GOD I shop everywhere and was never ever treated like that , to the point that left my return on her counter and left . Worse experience ever!!! Walking by the store, a scarf caught my attention, so I went in trying to find it. The store was pretty busy since it was the weekend so the store was a complete mess. Working in retail for 3 years myself, I feel for them and know how it can be on a busy day. Not even 10 steps into the store, I saw the scarf being used on 4 front mannequins. I was pretty optimistic at the point because it meant that they must have many of those scarves on the floor. Heading to the accessories section, it took me a good 10 minutes to find it because it was hidden behind other scarves. To my surprise there were only 1 left. So I took it off the rack and found a snag. Anybody who know knits, one snag will ruin the piece. I was upset since it was the only one there but figured since there's 4 being used on the mannequins I'll just ask an employee to swap for me. To my surprise there were no workers on the floor. At a store that size and on a busy day, no workers? So I took my boyfriend's advice and stood in line. Looking around, I found two guy employees working the dressing room and 3 guys at the register. Once I got to the register, I told the cashier how I would like to purchase the scarf but there's a snag and if he can swap it with 1 of the other 4 scarves on display. He told me it was against their policy to do so and that he can offer me a 10% discount on the scarf, followed by an awkward chuckle and smile. I was a little thrown by the response because I've never heard of such a thing, so I told him I don't want to pay for a damaged item. Knowing I wasn't happy he offered to go check the stock room to see if they have any left. if you've worked in retail, if there's only 1 left on the floor, there's no way there would be any in the back. He came back and told me they didn't have any in the back. SURPRISE SURPRISE! At that point I told him I didn't want it, it caught the manager's attention but at that moment I walked away. One, I did not go in there looking for a discount. Two, the scarf is a knit. A snag and the whole piece is ruined. Three, they would rather use the scarves as a decor piece then sell it to the customer. Four, they would rather sell a damage piece than swap it out. Having worked at Macy's and Banana Republic, I would of been on probation or fired for treating a customer like this. read more

Is it me or do you have to be holding merchandise in your hand in order for a employee to greet you or ask if you're finding everything alright (I've been here about four times and I'm never greeted by anyone, even if I'm standing next to them while they reorganize)? Is it maybe because my cousin and I came here around 8pm looking for a birthday gift and ended up buying nothing? Most of the employees on the floor just worried about reorganizing accessories or who would go close the doors at closing time. They did not have my sons size in the suit he was looking for however, Marcos offered to call other stores to see if they had his size. He made a few calls before finding it at another store. I love H&M for their accessories. FAB deals on big earrings, purses, headbands, necklaces etc. Clothes, for me at least, have been hit or miss. I've gotten some really cute summer dresses but don't really go for the work clothes. And when they had the Roberto Cavalli collection--well that was just the lamest day ever and really pissed me off because a bunch of fat dorky moms showed up and bought it all up to auction on Ebay. read more

This review is only for the customer service of one employee working the register between 12PM to 1PM on Christmas Eve. I feel I should have caught her name but luckily for myself I had a lovely gentleman helping me with my exchange and so I could only watch in horror as this employee with purple hair openly and rudely berate a customer for not understanding the exchange policy. When the customer would ask anything, she would cut their question short and rudely and loudly told them to call the online company instead. The other employees felt embarrassed on the customer's behalf! I understand working on a holiday is tough but if you are in a business that requires customer service skills, you should understand that part of your pay is to provide customer service. It was not like this customer was rude. They were actually handling the situation quite well and quietly walked out with their items. If I had her, I am not sure I would have handled the situation in the same manner. read more

Some of their size 2's feel painfully snug on me when usually I need an xs or a 00. I try to go up a few sizes higher so my boobs fit but then everything else is loose, boo. great shopping! i don't shop for clothes all the time, and i'm pretty basic - old navy, gap, nordstrom, kohl's. and i think i will add h&m on to the list. i love the fact that they have a great mix of casual to dressy, and everything was reasonably priced. the first time i went, it was not long after it opened, it was crowded, but no lines, except for the fitting rooms of course, and to pay...but the crowd put me off, so i only purchased a couple of things and got out of there pretty fast. the second time was far better...the initial crowd surge had died out and while it was crowded, the lines for the fitting rooms were short, and they were better equipped to handle the long line of people waiting to pay by sending them off to either the teens or kids sections to pay in addition to the main cashier. my one pet peeve of that store is the dressing room staff...they were kind of rude, and paid more attention to the items that needed to go back on the racks in the store instead of assisting guests by directing them into the dressing rooms. read more

*This is for the H&M in Crystal Court, not the main mall* Pros: -It's capacious and it makes shopping rather easy (when it's not a busy shopping day at the mall). -This particular location offers more styles than the location at the Irvine Spectrum Cons: -They don't do gift receipts (I found this out when I was shopping for gifts). I think it has to do with their old school registers (anyone in retail would know that the H&M POS is rather old school). -Their signage is constantly off. For instance, I would see a price point for a jacket over a button up shirt. Review: I come to this location a lot mainly because I know that it has more of a selections in their men's section than the next nearest location which is at the Irvine Spectrum. The reviews so far are from nay-sayers who have their own good reasons to give the reviews that they have. For the most part I do agree with them. First of all, they do lack a lot of smaller sizes, I noticed this in men's and women's. For the most part, I do attribute this to the popularity of H&M, it's like they're clothes are selling like hotcakes. Rest assured, I was told that the store receives a weekly batch of product, either replenishment or new product. After frequenting this location for a while now, the popularity and excitement has gone down significantly that shopping there is a lot easier. I like their product a lot. I've been told it's like Ikea for clothes. It's true. I've found that some of their products don't have a long life span, but you do get what you pay for. My only concerns are as follows. First, their price points are always wrong. Working in retail, I know what it's like to have a customer come up to my register and tell me that a shirt is a certain price when it really isn't all because they chose to read the numbers on the sign rather than the words which would indicate another product. With that said, I alway read what product is being put on promotion before being wooed by the price. I find that at this H&M and the Irvine location, the price points are wrong 90% of the time. This irritates me because from a distance I'll see 12.50 over a shirt I really like only to find out upon closer inspection it's for a blazer one aisle over. My next complaint is that they have an old POS system. Upon asking a cashier if I may have a gift receipt she told me that she can't and would have to ring up the product twice. Either she's lying or the POS system sucks. I'd like to be nice and give her the benefit of the doubt and believe that it's the POS. In my opinion, H&M is good for your cheap clothing needs. This H&M is much smaller then the other two I've been in: San Francisco & Harlem in New York. It is also in the greatest mall in gods green earth! They have no mens clothes so I sat and people watched- and quite a people watching extranvagansa it is!!! Was I wrong to think that many of the people inside this store were tourists? This H&M is nothing compared to the H&M on the other side of the mall at Crystal Court. It's small, usually overcrowded on weekends, and doesn't have too much stock. 95% of the time, I never find anything I like. Quality of the items is subpar. Compared to other stores at SCP, the prices are cheap, but slightly overpriced for what you get (the quality is suuuuper cheap). I feel like old H&M items were made better...the quality's slipping. The designs have been weird and over-the-top lately too. Service could be better. I'm never asked if I need help, the dressing room staff are generally cold, and the cashiers can be slow. read more

When I shop here I shop in the MEN's department and when I say MEN's I mean Big Boys. I only suite up at H&M to look sexy for a reasonable price. This H&M is usually lacking in the Big Boys department. The section seems to shrink more and more and is overtaken by "A&F-esque" men's clothing. Honestly, great selection of clothes here but the customer service is subpar. I came here last week during the afternoon to try on a few button ups and the helper in the dressing room was very rude to me. He was a skinny Caucasian male with brown hair that's kinda spiked up. I asked to try on a button up, and he asked me not to open the new one, but instead try on a sample size medium to make sure the fit was right. Ok, I understand why they do this so I was very happily willing to try on the sample first. After I established that size medium was right for me, I wanted to try on my specific button up since that was the one I wanted. I asked the associate if I could, and he kept giving me a hard time about how he didn't want me to open it. He made it seem like it was such a burden for him to re-fold it back up into the packaging if I wasn't going to buy it. Yes, I have worked retail for over 3 years so I understand the pangs of having to repackage button up clothes, but at the end of the day, that is what you are PAID to do. You are not paid to stand in the dressing room and give shoppers a hard time for trying on clothes, because you are lazy. Additionally, during this process, I was very courteous and said "thank you" to him at least 3 times, but was not once acknowledged or told a "you're welcome". I don't know about you, but that's pretty bad representation of that store and the company. On the other hand, there were two nice representatives that I did encounter over the past week. The first was a shorter, skinnier Hispanic (?) girl who helped me pick that button up shirt for my interview. I had to pick between 3 designs, and her #1 pick was very on-point. The second representative was working cashier who has long blonde hair (I'm guessing it was colored) and kinda pale-ish skin; she was extremely nice and helpful. Lastly, I only point the features of these sales associates out, because I hope that management/corporate reads these and gives those reps the credit that they deserve. read more

The stuff here is tacky and the only good thing you're going to get out of it is a nice business outfit under a budget or some decent basics like tees/tanks. The accessories break real easy and the sizes at H&M are out of control. I wear a 2 normally and I'm wearing a 4 or a 6... which usually makes me want to give up shopping here for others. I hear the men's section is not too shabby though. My boyfriend has gotten a hoodie here and some nice boxers. To be honest, I thought all H&Ms were like this until I went to the one in New York. The store located in the other part of SCP is the better of the two since it carries every concept they create. Men, Women, Children and Babies. However, most of their trends are on the boring side as it seems to be more exciting at locations in the bigger cities - LA, SM, and SF. read more

South Coast Plaza is good for window shopping, but I am fairly certain that I will never purchase much of anything there, except for Sephora (although since there is one in Cerritos, no more need to go flying down the 405 just to go there). However, I will make the trip for H&M; I can usually find cute shirts, and the prices are reasonable. I don't buy pants there, because they are cut way too small, and since I've lost weight, I kind of like having most of my clothes in the same size (it's a quirk, and I am full of 'em - or maybe just full of something....). My first H&M experience was in Chicago, and I'm glad they are on the West coast now. read more

I'm really disappointed in their bagging options, or lack their of. I bought a wool suit jacket and the sales associate folded it up and placed it in a regular bag. H&M doesn't offer plastic suit bags? Shame. Also, I hate that this location never is consistent with their lines. Every visit it is different, multiple separate lines one day, another day it's only one line, then back to multiple lines. They don't make it clear to you what the line option is that day until you're rudely told otherwise. read more

Cute clothes for really reasonable prices. But just remember you get what you pay for. I think they use some cheap ass fabric to make their clothes, they tend to shrink when you wash AND it also wrinkles very easily when you're wearing it. read more
