I called on 10/16/2019 @2:45pm and spoke with a lady in the bakery section HEB League City, and I asked if they could transfer a character image that I had purchased the license for to make sure it did not copy right. It is a transferable icing character of Batman borders. I was going to order the theme cake at HEB, I just wanted to add the borders of the character for additional wow factor. The lady over the phone was very nice and said it would be fine as long as I had purchased the license and she would let someone know I was on my way to view the image. When I got to the store at 3:30 p.m I spoke with a lady with first name D, I don't remember the rest of the letters of her name but she said she was the head baker and no they do not take transferable picture images at all. I was trying to explain that I own the license to the image, therefore, it was not copyrighting., but before I could try to explain she shut me down every time and was extremely rude and very loud. If the lady would have listened to what I was trying to say instead of yelling at me it would have been much appreciated. Besides I understand not being able to execute this cake for my son, all she needed to say was " I am sorry we are unable to do this" politely instead of being so rude. I always order my cakes from this HEB for my office where we have multiple festive events and family and have never had an issue. However, today was an unpleasant experience. read more

We had a baseball tournament in League City at the Big League Dreams Ballpark. We needed a birthday cake for two of our players. I usually like the cakes from HEB, so I called the bakery to order the cake. The lady who took my order was sweet enough, but she had a hard time understanding English. I requested to pick the cake up at 2:00. She forgot to ask for the names, so I figured I would have them added when I picked up the cake. Our game times were moved and I was late getting the cake (like 6:00). They left my cake, with the box open, on top of a bakery case ALL DAY. There was no one around to help me. The icing was melted, the plastic figures they used to decorate the cake (which was absolutely beautiful) were too tall for the box, and they kept falling over. So by the time we at the cake, it was a little dry, and not nearly as nice as it should have been for the $40 I spent on it. read more

However ; My excitement evaporated when I actually brewed the first cup of espresso!! With bulk it can be tricky to judge freshness ! On my way to Galveston for a day trip, I realized that I was burning alive in the convertible and this HEB was the only place that was along the highway for about 50 miles that I thought may actually sell sunblock! We pulled off the highway and of course yes they did sell sunblock! Thanks HEB! In HEB fashion of course we were in and out to purchase my burning skin remedy! This is one of the best sunblock brands I have tried and it wasn't overpriced like it would have been on Galveston Island! This is a great HEB. It is crowded at peak hours and if you show up on Sunday Night/Monday Morning there will be empty shelves. I have found that Saturday or Sunday morning is the best time for non M-F shopping. Produce is fresh and always well tended to. Bakery and meats always have someone who is willing to help. Star of the show (for me) is Robert in the Beer and Wine section. In a year he has taken a pawltry area of bleh into a vibrant and ever changing section of the store. If you don't do wine and beer or just go for the Ernest Gallo or Bud Light then don't worry, this isn't your thing. But if you like to expand your palate and try new and exciting things, this is your place. His expansion onto writing articles for industry publications and Facebook has made this HEB feel inclusive. They got me a bigger basket because I got more groceries than I was planning and when I asked where I should put the smaller basket he said I could push it myself with my heavy bigger basket at the same time if I really wanted to (like it isn't his job or anything) and he also threw my groceries around not even caring. I stumbled on HEB really because of there billboards. Working in the area i had past them a few times. i noticed that they where cheaper than Kroger. Being from GA i shop there often and not knowing what to expect in another store i tend go to the Kroger signature. so i ventured over there. i was totally shocked by the size of the store when i went in. not sure why but i thought it would be a dump? I soon found out that not only do they have a huge selection in every department, they are more like a farmers market. basically every section in the store had an Organic shelve in it. They make there own fresh hot tortillas, there own fresh daily made sushi (which is great), fresh made salsa and bbq sauces. They have a Olive bar, and salad bar. Fresh Bakery, a deli featuring Boars Head brand. A great wine selection and a huge 2 isles of build your own granola. Much like other major grocery stores HEB makes there own version of almost any product, just more of it. All of the HEB products i have tried have been very good quality. The store is very user friendly with wide isles and well stocked shelves. the work staff was very helpful with locating a product. last but not least there is a full stocked pharmacy just like a Walgreen's. There prices are on par with Walmart. they do alot of buy one get free deals. not your typical by one get either. Buy a 8oz HEB soup and get 4 pounds of grapefruit free. There are coupons attached to all the products that are buy one get one, making your saving easy. you don't even need to remember your coupons, they provide them for you. All in all i look forward to grocery shopping or stopping in for a quick lunch at HEB. You won't be disappointed. read more

The only downfall of this HEB location is that it is ALWAYS crowded, and can be inconvenient to navigate when they have sample stations set up (which they almost always do). Grocery shopping has always been something of a monumental ordeal in our family, from spending Sunday nights after dinner scrapbooking coupons; double and triple coupons, to monthly trips to the Sam's Club; stocking up on supplies for the neighbors, and even today still dragging my own pack of chimps to the grocery store running amuck; playing tag, racing down the aisles, hanging off carts, and shouting at each other loud enough to embarrass mom from all the way across the opposite end of the store. I don't spend much time reading reviews and have only bothered writing up a single review before this one, but with this being the class project, I thought I could be brief and share my experiences at H.E.B. this weekend. We started off the adventure in search of eggs and pancake mix, and quickly put together a list of a few other essentials, (salted caramel chocolates) fruits, veggies, and meat. With an intensely competitive 2/3 paper scissor rock tournament, my oldest bullied the younger into the backseat, and off we went. The spacious parking lot is almost always half full and busy with traffic on weekends, with lanes easy to navigate while driving, and while walking the parking-lot, that is always neat and free from any run-away-carts. The front entrance filled up with seasonal specials, pumpkins, and lawn furniture, and the shopping baskets and arranged and accessible. The entire store bustles with smiling employees as soon as you enter, none standing idle, and yet seemingly not so engaged as to be able to acknowledge with eye contact every person they pass. I sent the oldest child to the far end of the store for eggs and dairy and had the youngest keep with my pace as we quickly grabbed the fruits and vegetables. We made quick time with our divide and conquer routine. Stopping briefly to grab a fresh cut sample of fajita meat, and 5 lbs. package, we strolled down the aisle the corner and grabbed a tub of freshly crushed almond butter, when I heard the sharp and trailing Hi/Lo whistle from my daughter, a bird call that our family has incorporated to locate each other in large crowds. We finished all our shopping and where now almost ready to check out, with less than 10 minutes, but not before I would grab the salted caramel dark chocolates with almonds. We slowed down and double checked the list, as we moved to the check out, my youngest clone usually has no trouble trying to persuade us into piece of candy at the registers, and even could rationalize the lowest sugar and carbohydrate candy's being an acceptable treat for good behaviors, even if it wasn't the best. I never bother comparing prices any more, as H.E.B. almost always cheaper on everything, and they don't require a card club membership. To the store in back again, in as much time as It took to brew a pot of coffee. read more

I had been purchasing cakes from small business specializing in Cakes for about 2 years now. Since the last few cakes I bought didn't taste so great, I decided to try HEB. The bakery makes the best cakes I've tasted thus far. Every one at the parties were ranting and raving about how delicious the cakes were. I've been going to this store for the past year and never was so inclined to review it until today. They have wild caught fish and shrimp. Organic produce and a bulk/whole foods section. A great variety of all budgets and needs.... The real reason for this review follows.... I was shopping I stopped by the bulk foods area to find a protein powder and I was approached by a gentleman who worked there and he asked if I needed help with my selection. I think he saw the overwhelmed look on my face when I was staring at all the different types of proteins. He was very educated on the products and helped me to understand what the differences where. After I walked away I felt like I made a confident decision in my purchase thanks to his help. Had he not been there I probably would have walked off with nothing. read more

I really want to give them 4 stars, but I just can't especially recently! When I first started going here which was five years ago I never had a single complaint about this place. But lately they've been going down hill. I slipped and fell on my knee by their veggie section because there was a pool of water, so I e-mailed their store to ask them to place some floor mats which they did, but never bother to apologize to me(where are their manners). Then the other day I was buying fish and the guy chopped the portion I needed and weigh it. Then he asked me how big I want each of my pieces and so I said just divide it equally. Apparently he has no idea how to do that because he ended up cutting 1 piece then using that piece as a measure and by the time he got to the 4 piece he had extra fish left and instead of putting it with my purchase which he already weigh, he threw it away. Then we I went back to confront him he tried telling me the skin it took off early was the weight difference. I just want to say skin doesn't weigh half a pound on a 1.5 pound piece of fish! Anyway I thought the people behind the fish deli should be more educated then they were especially since they get paid more per hour. I also agree with Monica what is going on with their purchasing and restocking? I went on Tuesday and half their shelves were still empty. I understand the weekend rush but it was already Tuesday. But I would still go to this store, because it is super convenient for me and it's usually clean and well stocked. Their fruit and vegetables are pretty fresh. Clean, Friendly, great deals! I was in here about 2 weeks ago. I wanted to make shrimp scampi. I could not find the scampi mix that I usually buy. So i asked a employee for help. She was very helpful. We could not find the scampi mix, So she says " how about you try the HEB brand on us" She showed me there brand and also gave me the shrimp as well, and said dinner on us! By far this is the best grocery store in the area. It has such a HUGE variety, fresh fruits and vegetable, and great prices. Since I'm a fan of organics and farm to table products this is one of those stores I can find them. Would even compare it to a modernized Farmer's Market. Them employees including the manager do not know their store very well. I've found multiple items on my own In store after asking numerous employees for help and getting "we don't carry that". So either you are too lazy to look up what you have or you are ignorant of what you have in store. The E. league city parkway location is much better.
