Not as big compared to the Hmart in Carrollton but still just as good. This Hmart is very clean and has all your Korean grocery needs. Yes the free samples are here also but you have to come at the right time or you will miss it. All the products here seems very fresh and better quality than most grocery stores but with quality, expect to pay a bit higher for those items. Along with the goods they have here, there is also a nice food court for your Korean food fix. I come here alone to eat at the food court because it's usually cheaper than at your traditional Korean restaurant. Enjoy! read more

I will begin this review by first letting you know that I am woefully inexperienced with Asian foods. As a Puerto Rican who grew up on the South Carolina coast, it just wasn't my thing. I never knew the amazing world of flavors and foods that were out there to experience. H Mart is the place where all of those amazing flavors spend their day. It is an amazing place. FOOD COURT: This is probably new favorite "restaurant" in the area. The ordering system is a little weird. You walk through and window shop from the various kitchens. If you like a dish in the window, remember the bingo number associated with it. Then, you go to the cashier on the back left, tell them your bingo number and pay for it, which is normally a GIGANTIC portion for a super inexpensive price. I paid $5 for the best ramen I've ever had. Other Dallas ramen houses have convinced me that this should be worth $11+. Man, I was a fucking idiot. I woke up the next weekend actually craving this ramen again at 3 AM. This must be what being addicted to crack must be like. I hope the wife enjoys spending every date night ever in a grocery store's food court, because that's exactly what we're going to do to them! GROCERY STORE: Please consider that this is from someone who grew up on the coast in a major port city. This was one of the best fish markets I've ever seen. And it's in Plano, hundreds of miles from the coast. Chilean Sea Bass was $5 less a lb than other stores. Live Blue Crabs were $3 a lb. They even had Cuttlefish. Mother of God it had it all. I love H Mart! First off, it is clean, clean, clean, which is a little unusual for Asian markets. Everything is well organized and we'll laid out, so it's easy to find what you need. Second, it's got a huge variety of Asian grocery items, if you can think of it, they likely have it. They even have cosmetics, too, in little boutique-y areas, so you know it's special. Third, it's super convenient. It's right around the corner from Costco, so it's great for consolidating trips. Usually I go to the west Plano costco, because I live close-by, but I like this H Mart better than the one in Carrollton, so if I need to go to both, I go here. Gotta love H Mart! Something about clean, well organised and full of asian variety supermarkets that makes the drive all the worth while. When I first came to H Mart, I was super impressed. I loved how a big bag of rice was priced at a mere $9 and the fully stocked fresh bakery inside the supermarket was super inviting. All in all, there is nothing I can fault about this supermarket except for one thing, customer service. Attached to the store is a huge food court area where you can take your pick of Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese or tofu type dishes. Denied ADA acommodation. I was in an electric cart with a portable IV hanging from my arm when I asked for carryout--3 times. The Cashier was rude and said they don't offer carryout, even after I explained I really need it and can't shop there if they don't help me. I am on the Heart Transplant Waiting List. I get very tired and weak. I only do small shops (milk...15 items or less). The callous cashier was smiling while repeatedly denying me carryout. I told her I wish she was never in my shoes. I left my purchases at her cash stand (she was outraged!). Prepared to return all my purchases, I went in search and found a gracious, helpful parking lot attendant. Arturo was apologetic about his insensitive co-worker and helped me to my car. I was sobbing at this point. I wish I handled stress more graciously, but when you need a new heart, life is pretty challenging and so be be further challenged by HMart cashier is exhausting. My sister went up to the store 30 minutes later and asked for the "Manager On Duty." The customer service person told her the MOD was "off for the day!" Apparently they have no one running the store. The Customer Service person expressed no concern or problem with their lack of service or lack of ADA accommodation. This response was probably more appalling than the cashiers. I can't say this enough but my life on the heart transplant list is beyond difficult. I can't expose myself self to the stress and rude, hostile attitude of an HMART cashier, whom I will refrain from publicly naming, but I will not sink to her level. Shame on HMart. Fix this...train your staff on ADA! read more

Love it here! To me, this reminded me of my childhood and going to the Korean grocery store with my mom. It was just wayyyyyy fancier. It had a food court, a pastry, a deli filled with cold and hot dishes. I was NOT disappointed. The vegetable section was beautiful. To a foodie and a home cook, the selection was a dream. I even found organic barley tea!! So I went on a Saturday thinking it would be a mad house and really, it wasn't. Not even a little. I was surprised how dead it actually was. The Super H Mart loses a star because some of the sale items they had weren't there and their check out counter person wasn't very friendly. All in all, a solid four stars. read more

Definitely a fan of Hmart, I'm so happy there is now one closer to where I live! I gave it 4 stars because obviously like I had said, I was already a fan of Hmart. This Hmart is very clean compared to the one in Carollton and most Asian markets that I've been to. I was hoping it would have beeen a little bigger and that the food court would be much bigger, but it's okay, the food court is pretty darn good. Other than the size, if you like the Hmart in Carollton, then you will definitely like this one. It is pretty much the same, just like I said above, much cleaner! Swanky International grocery store that opened in Plano. In addition to groceries it has a yogurt/tea counter, there is a store front that sells specialty appliances, one that sales beauty products and Koren, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese restaurants. A bakery, fresh seafood and a large selection of produce and alcohol makes for a fun visit but the prices are slightly more than I want to pay. For me I will put this in the same category as Whole Foods. It's fun but not practical for my budget. I would only return when I'm in the mood to treat myself. read more

Come here for the fruit and veggies. Forget about Walmart guys, it's not the best place for produce. I love fruit and hmart has a good selection. Their grapes are sweet and it's less than 3 bucks for 1.5lb which is a lot actually. Also their meats are cheap as well. It's a clean store and despite selling live fish and other seafood, it doesn't have the fish odor which hit your nose right after you step in. I'm assuming it's bc it's still a "newish" supermarket. I went on grand opening day and of course it was chaotic but the produce here is really fresh. Excellent seafood selection, lots of fresh fruit and veggie selection - its pretty much the same as the Carrollton location. The food court here is smaller but I think the ancillaries will develop with time. **UPDATE: The food court here is overpriced and chaotic. I wouldn't recommend coming here to eat. read more

Hubby and I are really loving H-Mart in Plano right now. The store is clean. The produce and meat are fresh. There are so many types of kimchi and Korean sides to choose from in the refrigerated section. We appreciate the free gloves for use in the year of COVID. The marinated meats and shabu-shabu sliced meats are perfect... we only wish that there was a meat counter like Carrolton where you can buy the marinated meats by the pound as opposed the the pre-packaged sizes. Ok - so, H mart is more focused on Korean food, 99 Ranch is more Chinese and Vietnamese, Hong Kong Market is more Vietnamese and Chinese (in that order). All have better fruit and veg - better selection and prices - than any western grocery. H Mart has a yummy Korean food court - lived in Korea for 5 years and this food is authentic and yummy! The vegan place next to Hong Kong Market is pretty good. The Vietnamese and Chinese places in 99 ranch might be good but they have no veg choices that look attractive so, didn't try. All three have great choices but with a different country focus. Go! Try some yummy new stuff - you'll be back! (Losing a star for so few veg options and those they have are hard to find.) read more

First off, the customer service at this location COMPLETELY blows the Carrollton H-Mart's out of the water. Whether it has to do with the fact that it's a newer store and therefore the workers are less disgruntled, time will tell, but Carrollton needs to step up its game. Second, I love (and hate, which I'll explain later) how certain departments are in separate sections. In most of the H-Marts I've visited, the housewares section is crammed next to odd areas and it's a narrow maze of hell. Plano has a dedicated section and even its own cash register, so anyone can buy food and housewares separately if needed. Third, the food court is awesome (and kinda bad, which I'll also explain later)! I like all the different choices offered and despite the Plano store being smaller than the Carrollton H-Mart, there's more seating! I also love the modern look and feel of the place. Definitely wish the older H Marts could update their food court designs to a similar aesthetic. Lastly, PARKING. The spaces are bigger and not angled like Carrollton's lot, which makes newbie drivers like myself super duper happy. EDIT: Didn't know where to add this, but it's really awesome of H-Mart to offer free ice during the summer months. Especially grateful since I live in another state! And now for the bad... - While it's nice that Plano separated certain departments around the store, it wasn't executed in the best way. I don't understand why they put the prepared foods section all the way on the opposite side of the food court. I thought I wouldn't be able to get octopus tempura. All prepared food should be kept around the same vicinity! - Yes Plano H-Mart Food Court, you look hip and all, but your ordering system is terrible. It would be easier to just order from each vendor individually than get ONE ticket number for ALL my orders. Because of this flawed system, I got the wrong dish from one of the vendors. Not cool at all. And the food quality is much higher at Carrollton. - I've never really been a fan of Tous les jours (yes, I'm Korean, there are many people who hate this "bakery" and we're allowed to say that), but this location is the worst one I've been to (which is funny because the Carrollton H-Mart is the worst, but their Tous les jours is fine). Whoever trained the employees needs to do better because one of them just crammed all the pastries I bought into one tiny bag and everything was crushed. And they didn't even apologize. Oh well it's all overpriced stale bread anyway... So in conclusion, despite this location being a longer drive for me than the Carrollton H-Mart, I will continue to visit the Plano store whenever I have the opportunity. read more

Awesome. Opened in close proximity to the existing 99 Ranch Market & Asian World Market, so I wasn't sure how impressive it could be, but Hmart is great. Super clean & large. Samples everywhere. They have a food court with Korean, Japanese & Chinese food. They also have a 'deli' section similar to 99 ranch. They only had a couple sad lookin' ducks, and their hot foods weren't that interestin', so 99 Ranch has 'em beat there, but they also had lotsa Korean prepared foods that looked great, and I would love to try sometime. I love the meat & seafood section. Pre-marinated Korean BBQ meats, sashimi, kurobuta pork & American 'Kobe' style beef. They offer a better selection of cuts than Western grocery stores, but not quite as extensive as 99 ranch. Especially now that Asian World Market changed their name (and I don't think are as impressive), HMart is a great addition for slightly different asian products than 99 Ranch. This is especially great for those who don't like the dirty, unorganized conditions at 99 Ranch market. read more

Korean food court, small little shops with lots of good stuff, FroYo and bubble tea stand, fancy make up and perfume boutiques, THE CUTEST BAKERY, variety of food stuffs, nice wine and beer section, everything you need! My favorite Asian grocery store!! There's Jusgo and 99 Ranch but this place is the best. Hmart is clean, spacious, has my favorite Korean/French bakery, Tous les jours, an array of appliances, small restaurants, and lots of selections of meats, produce, frozen foods, and dried/canned/bagged goods. Now the only thing I don't like is the fact that the produce spoils pretty fast, maybe that's why the prices are so affordable? I do not mind constantly going here however because it is such a short drive away and I love grocery shopping! Oh yeah, $2.99/lb for golden pompano?! Auto-buy!!! The best part for me about this place is that they have a rewards program for discounts off of select items in the store if you sign up for their Hmart card. The best Asian grocery store! The selection for produce, noodles, meat, seafood, rice, sake and snacks is just amazing with great prices. The meat prices may be higher than the average Asian stores but quality is better so you get what you are paying for. You can always cross the street to get cheaper meat at Fiesta but quality and cleanliness is not the same ( H Mart wins). Fruits are really cheap here. The bonus is that they have premade delicious food to take home ranging from soups to sashimi to rolls to side dishes oh my! I always stop in at the awesome bakery right outside of the fruits section as well :) 5 stars because I have nothing to complain about and have a good experience every time I'm here so keep coming back. read more

They have an amazing food court that looks like something straight out of a movie. They have flashy little booths with food displayed, where almost everything comes with hot sauce. They have Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese food. They even have a little shop where you can buy rice cookers amongst other utensils for the kitchen. The price of food in the regular part of H Mart, not the food court, can be expensive unless items are on sale. They seem to be almost a dollar higher in price than Ranch 99 (when I was looking at frozen dumplings). The place is very clean and the layout is great. But I think I may just stick to Ranch 99 when doing my grocery shopping. read more

This H-Mart has an excellent selection of not only Korean but other Asian food items as well. Some of their Japanese rice is cheaper then at the Japanese Market. I can't really recommend the marinated meats as I'm not a fan of whatever sauce they use (and it seems like all H-Marts use the same sauce) better to buy a bottle from the sauce aisle and make yourself, in my opinion. Fresh veggie selection is good but not as varied as 99 Ranch. Their seasoned seaweed selection is pretty good and one of the reason I go there, besides getting BBQ sauce and pickled veggies. There is a food court with Chinese, Japanese and Korean Food. I haven't tried it yet but will probably try the Korean Food place next time I go. read more

I'm so exciiiiiteeed this place opened up right next to my work place! I loved the H Mart in Carrollton, but now I won't have to drive 45 minutes just to get there. This place is huge and has the all sorts of unique products that I don't see at the other Asian grocery stores. Produce and meat products seem fresh. I bought some sashimi and it was much higher quality than I expected (for relatively cheap too). The layout is kind of confusing - there doesn't seem to be a good flow to the place. I haven't tried anything from their food court yet, but it seems to offer less selection than the one in Carrollton. read more

We love this store. Its very clean and well tended too. There is such a vast array of products it is nice to be able to branch out from the American stuff! My favorite items are the mochi ice creams and you can usually find the boxes on sale with 6 pieces for about $3 too! Seafood deptartment is awesome, so many choices. The number of samples here are RIDICULOUS. I will try every little cup of ramen/shrimp chips you have to offer me. It's like the Costco of Korean food. I have yet to eat at the food court, but seeing all the happy faces of families milling around, I'm pretty excited. The usual jajangmyeon (in Chinese, it's called zha jiang mian), Korean barbecue, bibimbap, etc. It smelled delicious. Of course, it's crowded. Really crowded. Impossible to drive your shopping cart around the store crowded. Constantly bumping into people and jumping out of the way of little kids crowded. But sooooooooo worth it. read more

Man, I freaking LOVE this place. From the small interior stalls where you can order food to the fresh groceries to the prepared meals to the sampling stations set up on the weekend. They offer fresh foods, but be careful about buying groceries too far in advance. I've had chicken and produce spoil on me in a few days as opposed to groceries I would buy at Kroger, Central Market, etc. I really enjoy the fair pricing and access to asian groceries and hard-to-find ingredients. Whenever I've had issues finding any ingredient on my own, I would find one of the staff and they have always pointed me in the right direction. The customer service overall is pretty good for an asian grocery store. I also really enjoy the skin care stalls and am able to find a variety of skin care lines and Korean face masks that are pretty affordable. The price point is on par with what you would find online, so it is not necessarily cheaper, just more accessible. On weekends, they have lots of sampling stalls for those of you who are curious to try things you wouldn't necessarily pick up if you aren't Korean or East Asian. I've bought lots of potstickers/dumplings, soups, teas, and other things that are convenient for a quick and delicious meal at home. As for the location, I enjoy the Plano location over the Carrollton one. The Planto location seems cleaner, bigger, and less cluttered. read more

Compared to the Carrollton location this place is smaller. I was very disappointed with the selection of Korean meats i.e. bulgogi and Kalbi. Not to mention the Kalbi did not taste as fresh either. The food court here is also sorry. Not much of a selection to choose from. The only plus is there is a Tous les Jours bakery inside. Too bad because Plano is closer to me but the drive to Carrollton is worth it. read more

First impression - VERY clean. Modern lighting. Although not all the workers speak English, they are very willing to help. Very cute kitchen and accessory items are there as well. Lots of free edible samples. It wasn't too particularly busy on a Sunday afternoon; but it also happened to be Superbowl Sunday. There aren't as many eating options compared to the H-Mart in Carrollton, but there plenty to try: Tous les Jour Bakery, Tofu House, Froyo, Miso Japanese food, Chinese/Korean mix food. When I first stepped into this place, I didn't know what to expect besides it being another Asian market with that infamous "smell". This place was actually very impressive and very clean!! I'm actually moving to the Allen area and will be driving here to get certain groceries. The prices are good compared to the Hong Kong market in Richardson and they have a membership card to get discount on advertised items. They have bakery and small eateries inside this market also. I haven't tried any of them because I went in pretty late but I really want to check out their bakery next time I'm in there. As a person who hates stepping into a filthy food market with shelves of expired items, I can really appreciate this place and it's tidiness and fresh produce. read more

The plano H Mart is a lot less crowded compared to the Carrollton one. However if you do go on a Saturday, be sure to go during the off hours as it gets pretty crazy on a Saturday afternoon. This H Mart has a mini food court and overall the food there is good. As for the selection of asian food, they have a lot more than the typical American grocery store. The quality of food is overall good but you do occasionally get some meh looking produce though. Overall I would recommend this place if you're looking to make some Asian food. read more
