Another great experience thanks to Brandy and Kaden (sp?) at H5. I had an electrical issue, possibly caused by a terrible plumbing job. In 2 hours, Kaden was able to find the cause of the tripped breaker and fixed it. H5 came over quickly to provide a very competitive bid that allowed us to install 43 recessed lights (we added 6 more when they arrived). After many years of waiting, their bid (provided by Brandy) allowed us to upgrade our house. They brought a large enough crew to do all the work in 1 day. We had guests coming over in a few days so needed everything completed. They even had time to add an outlet and ground another outlet. They cleaned up afterwards and did not damage anything else. They covered all necessary furniture and floors to minimize the debris. The lead (Troy) and crew were very professional, polite, listened to our concerns and needs, and double checked the placement of each recessed light. As with most electricians, they did not do any sheetrock repairs. They were able to run the cables without cutting any extra sheetrock out. Finally they checked and set which Color temperature (Kelvin) we wanted on each recessed lights. When the lights are all on, the rooms look beautiful and inviting. I had damage from a surge or something that was causing some electrical issues. I had an electrician from another company come out and take a look at my box and they said I should contact my insurance company. I did so and then they ghosted me. I didn't hear back from them. Fast forward two weeks later and me being tired of waiting, I started looking through yelp and I called H5 randomly because I liked some of their pictures and they seemed pretty well rated. I talked to Brandy on the phone and she set me up with Troy who came out super quick like same or next day I can't remember offhand. I think four days later we had an appointment. The folks came out early and relocated my box down and upgraded from 100 with no slots to 200 with lots of slots. The folks they had working were professional and quick movers. My house was built in 1906 so im guessing they are pretty good at troubleshooting too. They also ran a separate line to my microwave by request. I had to bounce midway and they finished up. Long story long - everything looks great - works great. It's nice to be able use my air fryer AND my microwave at the same time. These folks were quick and responsive to text which is my preferred way to communicate since I'm usually working. I appreciate it when businesses are responsive to messages and put value on your time. It was nice that not only were they on-time they were early. There were some issues with installation of garage lights, can lights and ceiling fan but they Brandy and Troy help get them resolved a month after installation. But 6 months after installation, the can lights started flickering when dimmed. We contacted Brandy through phone, email, and text with no replies. Then about 10 months after initial installation, one of the can lights won't turn on. Since we were not given any manuals for any of the lights that were installed, we couldn't find the model to replace it. Tried Brandy again but no response again. After a few weeks, finally Brandy replied back and said would send someone over. We still waiting hoping it will get get fixed correctly soon. I think the lights they installed were cheap quality or not properly installed since these issues should not arise in less than one year after installation. Edit (6/7/22): Increased from 2.5 to 3 stars because after about 1.5 months, Brandy had someone come over to replace all 8 can lights as the original were defective. This is a updated review. I had Brandy wire a generator panel for us. The panel was not wired correctly and was a fire hazard. I was told by Brandy she normally does not wire panels and installed ours via you tube video. We had to hire another contractor to wire our panel correctly. I was also told she was going to label our panel which never happened. I also filed a complaint with the better business bureau which Brandy never responded. There is currently a claim filed with her bond company. It would up costing us over $1300.00 to repair their unprofessional work. I made several attempts to try to resolve this with Brandy. We are very unhappy and currently considering Taking them to Small claims court to recover some of our losses. I got multiple quotes on a Carmichael re-wire and H5 was almost double the other bids coming in at more than $80k, but Troy was very professional and responsive and I wanted everything done top to bottom - no wires left with any risks, etc. I especially was interested in safety and long term investment - so I figured the inspections would assure that. I specifically discussed with Brandy that it would be worth it with some adjustments because, of course, they would take care of all the permitting and I could talk to inspector during final walk through. I was already worried dealing with Brandy because I saw a number of reviews on different sites where Brandy became defensive and argumentative with people. But, again, I made clear that I would NOT have time to do any owner-builder permitting myself as a previous contractor had tried to get me to do on the project. I wanted to be able to boast the wiring was 100% safe, updated, inspected. "Great news," she said, the previous permit was still open so you don't have to pay the permit fee. I figured this was about the fee. When the project was done I was headed out of town but asked about the final inspection. "No problem inspection can happen when you get back." Never heard anything. Pulled the permit myself to see that she had simply reopened the previous owner builder permit! Now I have to re-do the entire process...and pay fines, just when things at work are much busier than during shutdown. I've called to complain and of course she said this was a "misunderstanding," that they will work with me to fix, but I think I made it pretty clear that time is my most crucial commodity and of course now I have this giant task I have to tackle still hanging over my head. Contracted them to come in and install some can-less wafer lights in my living room. Troy, the owner, visited to inspect the job and offer a quote. Troy was clear about what he thought needed to be done and how best they could achieve the result I wanted. Come installation day, the H5 team arrived on time. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because this company deserves it! I've always had "electrical issues " with my house. I've had at least 5 different professional electricians over who tried to fix my problems, said the fixed them, definitely charged me and maybe I'd have a temporary fix but it wasn't until I called H5 that EVERYTHING was fixed and /or replaced. We consulted with tons of electric companies before going with H5. We wanted to upgrade our electrical panel from 100-200. We did our research and because our electric wiring is underground, we needed a team who knew what they were doing. Many companies were telling us it would be too much work and they would have to trench our yard. This is when I met Brandy. I can not tell you how amazed I am. Texting and emailing between each other was quick and efficient. She fought for us when PgE was trying to tell us we had to change out the wiring that was already there and capable of 200 amp. It's hard because I know nothing about electrical stuff, but Brandy fought for us and wanted to make sure we weren't getting ripped off from pgE and wasn't getting wrong information from them. After a rare Bay Area storm, I was out of power for a week and had consulted a couple electricians, as well as PG&E and no one could seem to fix the issue. In short, if you are looking for an electrician in the Davis area. you can not do any better than to hire H5 Electric. They are technically strong, willing to go the extra mile needed to guarantee total client satisfaction and their pricing is very competitive. I have a rental property in Davis. I decided it was time to upgrade the wiring and outlets throughout the house and to bring the system up to current code standards. I asked several contractors to meet me at the site and prepare bids. Brandy set up the day and time and Troy arrived as scheduled on time! During the walk through, Troy took the time to really understand what I was trying to achieve and if I had any specific preferences. Along the way he offered a number of suggestions based on his technical expertise that might be better in the long run. Their bid was very competitive and I awarded them the contract. A short time after the job was completed, I ran into a technical issue. I contacted Brandy and Troy to let them know what was going on. This Tuesday I got a text confirming installation of a ceiling fan my wife had picked out. Brandy quickly reached out to schedule an in-person consultation. Troy was prompt, punctual, and thorough. In addition to some older receptacles, our home had several wiring code violations. Troy was patient and efficient in troubleshooting the circuits and helped us brainstorm ways to bring wiring up to code and rewire several outdoor structures at the back of the home in a way that would fit our budget. Our requested services included replacing older receptacles in the home, grounding several ungrounded receptacles, rewiring a well pump so that it was code-compliant, running new power from a sub panel to our garage and installing EV chargers, and installing a new sub panel for an outdoor shed. Troy was communicative and responsive while drafting our estimate. This summer was unusually hotter than in prior years so I finally decided to add central air conditioning. I immediately learned the pre-existing 100 amp electrical panel installed back in the 1970's didn't have a spare breaker that could be dedicated to the condenser. In fact, the panel was essentially at capacity, and needed to be upgraded. In the process of evaluating my options, I received various bids through Yelp and Home Advisor. Brandy is command central with H5 Electric and voice of the company. She provided prompt and sufficiently detailed responses to my project, including a reasonable proposal. In addition to removing and replacing the old panel, I asked H5 to also include installation of the disconnect and a service receptacle for the A/C unit, and complete wiring for an EV Charger. Troy and his crew arrived early (by 7am) and installed a new 200-amp main with new breakers; including new pipe, wire, weather head & roof jack. With the power shut off and wiring exposed, it was practical and logical to have the experts at H5 run the additional wiring for the A/C instead of the HVAC contractor. As requested, H5 also ran a 240V/50A circuit from the new main service panel across the attic to a NEMA 14-50 rainproof outlet to the side of the house along the garage for the EV outlet. We live in Placerville and decided it was time to replace our 50+ year old 200 amp electric panel. We used the home advisor app and were emailed 5 referrals from electricians within a 24 hour time frame. After reviewing all of 5 we decided to contact H5 Electric to obtain an estimate. Long overdue review of my excellent experience with Brandy, Troy and Aaron of H5 Electric. I inquired into getting the electric work required to hook up my home to a generator. Brandy responded almost immediately and kept in perfect contact. Troy arrived the same day and evaluated everything, from the fuse box to the generator I had ordered. He performed all the calculations and even called the generator manufacturer for details. As he discovered, the generator I purchased was insufficiently powered. I was able to cancel and reorder before anything had moved. The team at H5 worked with me and the vendors to devise the perfect solution for my use case (interlock, not transfer switch).
