Went just for chai and it was pretty good chai. Bathroom was dirty tho and had no toilet paper .

If I could give this no stars I would. Yucky food! They heated the food up in the microwave and it was so spicy no one could eat it. Rice was broken. Aloo naan had a ridiculous amount of red chili flakes. I've been to Pakistan and this is not good Pakistani food. Restaurant was not clean, dirty floors and tables. Disappointed.

Haandi is to New York like a glove is to a hand. This is the type of place where core memories are built for life. For as long as I can remember, there is no version of New York where this humble hole in the wall cabbie hotspot did not exist. This restaurant has made me feel at home on so many different occasions with so many different people, including my own mother, that it would be a gross injustice to not stop by here and sing praise to the institution this place is for the Pakistani community in Manhattan. Everything I have had here has always lived up to the nostalgic taste of whatever it's supposed to be in Pakistan. I remember one of the best plates of curry pakora here, some of the best kababs, the creamiest chais. This place always delivers on food. The C rating on the window? We can live with that. We don't even mind. C is for seasoning am I right? Recently, my friends and I popped in at 2 PM for halwa poori and some lunch grubs. The poori was fresh, not greasy. The potatoes were sublime with that perfect achari kick. The chana were thick and dissolved just like they are on the roadsides of Lahore. Halwa was soft and fragrant just like how it's supposed to be. Kababs spiced just right. Raita with just the right amount of green. Naan just the perfect amount of crispy and soft. That's the thing about this place - everything is just right. Nothing is ever in excess or lacking. Everything and I literally mean EVERYTHING is always just right. Like a 50+ year happy marriage, Haandi is the type of place you love coming home to again and again and again.

Goat curry and mango lassi. This place was awesome with mostly regulars and delicious food. I got the mango lassi and justin got the curry. I could tell he very much loved his food. I can't wait to come back

Haandi Pakistani & Bengali Restaurant is a solid spot if you're craving authentic desi comfort food in New York. The menu has all the classics you expect and they do them really well. We tried the samosas, nihari, chicken biryani, goat chops, and beef masala--everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and felt genuinely homemade. The samosas were crisp and fresh, the biryani was aromatic and hearty, and the chops were cooked perfectly with great spice balance. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food. But the real highlight for us was the chai. Rich, comforting, and exactly what you want to end a meal with--honestly worth coming just for that. Great food, authentic flavors, and a cozy vibe. Definitely a place I'd come back to again and recommend to anyone looking for good Pakistani and Bengali cuisine.

Was in Lexington and was craving desi food . .. have gone to haandi a long time ago and went back .. there are some tables inside to sit and dine . When you enter you see all the meat and veggies displayed and it looks inviting :) service is good. Pricing is good too. Atmosphere was average . Platter was about 15-16 $ and priced ok. Food looked fresh . The platter has naan , rice , veggie and a meat (optional)... tastes very good . It tasted like home food . Chole was super awesome . Went well with naan and rice . The meat curry was also super duper good . Right spice level and had perfect flavor ... food taste is 5/5 but because of overall atmosphere , I had to give them a 4 star .

Went to Haandi almost after 2 years to get some lunch for takeout. Seemed like the place has changed management, it appeared much cleaner, tidy and dishes were much more diverse. I got the meat platter with butter chicken, lamb curry, cabbage and rice. Butter chicken was really delicious. Cabbage and lamb were also good. The portion was fulfilling. We also got shami kabab and pakoras, which were average. Gulab jamun were little hard but Ras malai was amazing. It was a good experience to eat out from Haandi again.

Been going to this place for a while. They cook only halal here and their meat dishes are amazing. Decent lunch specials. They have a tandoori oven so fresh naan is recommended. It's a dive spot so heads up. Used to be a late night hang but Covid ruined that. Some of my recommendations: goat kadia/biryani, chicken biryani, fresh tandoori naan buttered, seekh kabab chicken or beef. Enjoy!

Wont lie-i go there when am craving for some Lahori street food. Food is on the spicier side. So watch out when you order. Their Halwa puri and Dahi bhalai are really good. Combos are good for money too. Its a casual take out place-you can dine in too but nothing fancy. Friendly staff.

One of the true dives of Curry Hill (#1), Haandi has been one of the neighborhood's longest standing Pakistani restaurants. It is also one of the best deals in the city with a true lunch buffet that has both the variety and the local support to make a worthy destination for anyone in the area. I was introduced to Haandi as the late night spot for all the cab drivers looking for a quality meal. Despite being a two level establishment, the interior is very cramped. The upper floor is mainly a la carte and takeout, which is what remains open throughout most of the day and night. I somehow stumbled across their basement level lunch buffet, which was $9 when I first came and has transitioned into a $12 current day feast. The bathrooms should be avoided and the sanitary / hygiene is legitimately questionable, but that's also part of the charm. The food is not earth shattering, but the variety is appreciated. I appreciate the fact they serve some type of biryani (typically chicken or lamb) often, the seekh kabab is tasty, and the chana masala goes well with just about everything. I also like their hockey puck sized aloo tikki and I most definitely can eat a few of the meatballs. I've found much of the food to be a bit on the oily side and their breads / samosas are abundant but not particularly memorable. I'm also not terribly fond of their salads either and haven't found many sweet / dessert like items I can get behind. What I most definitely appreciate is the no frills / keep your pretension at the door mantra of the place. Despite being open all the hours, they don't normally have a lot of staff on hand. This essentially means to serve yourself and pay (in cash, even though they accept credit), and get out. I never manage to leave here without being completely stuffed and both my wallet and tummy are happy. Just the way it should be. _____________ (#1) i.e. Murray Hill

Casual Indian/ Pakistani/ Bengali food. Mostly for take out. ppl eat in too. Self service. They heat up the food for u in the microwave. Im not the one to judge if the food is authentic or not but the flavor is pretty good. Yet too spicy for me. Couldn't really enjoy it when the tongue and lips were numb. Friendly staff. Quick service.

Walking in, it's a stunning restaurant and on this night, not too crowded which made us wonder why they would seat us next to the servers station away from dozens of much nicer tables. Next fail, we wanted to start with a Mediterranean dip, but they only offer that if you go with a $39 tray with multiple dips. Not something a party of two would be able to east, so we skipped apps altogether. Sucks too, because several tables had it and it liked amazing, just too much for two. For dinner I had the Yemeni Au Police Kebab, Filet Mignon which was absolutely delicious. The peppercorn Hawaii really sweetened the meat's flavor. So high marks for the steak. My wife had two small dishes which she wasn't as thrilled with, Grilled Artichokes which were too dry for her liking and Manti, which she liked. Main takeaways. Very pricey, beautiful atmosphere (if you get a nice table) and maybe a place that's better for a group than a couple.

There was a short wait, but from what I could see, a variety of tables here and seating. Not the biggest place, dark, intimate, wood accents and small spotlights over tables. We ordered buns and spicy edamame to start. It seemed like we had just ordered when the food came out. Love that. Buns were incredibly good - a close second to a joint in Chicago we ate at last weekend. Succulent meat, plenty of sauce, and just the usual pillowy bun. The edamame didn't seem spicy at first - then my face melted. Still good but a deep burning spiciness to them as advertised. For my entree I got the beef miso ramen, adding corn and an egg. The corn wasn't just a pile of kernels - but a side slice of a cob. Cool presentation. Beef was good and the broth soothed my soul. Top 10 ramen places I've been - well done.

They had a variety of sake and beer options. The inside is small but turnaround is fairly quick. Lots of two seaters and a large table that we were able to snag after just a few minutes of waiting. I feel like this place is good, but the white sauce is what makes it. Would I wait another 50 minutes in line, again? Heck to the no - but 1 time? Yes, just to say I tried it. I came in line around 9:45pm and waited approx. 50 minutes before being served. the line just grows and grows.... it is crazy busy! I don't get the line concept here. Because while I was in a long line, when I get to the front, there's another line to the left of the truck... and people seem to be getting their food faster, and the line is like 2x shorter. So that's kind of confusing. Ambience in line and ordering = chaotic. The line is quick in terms of when it is your turn, KNOW what you want. Because you have like 5 seconds to order and that's it. I ordered the special (the spicy rice, lamb and chicken combo, extra white sauce, 3 squirts of hot sauce, and a topped with fries). $13 in total. I would like to say, advice to folks to know what you want before you come. I did not look at menu options beforehand and I did fairly little research so I honestly did not know what to order, just looked at some google reviews and pictures. That is going to help you, in case you do not want the typical lamb and chicken combo. To the food - 1st - they don't care how much hot sauce you want. they're making these bowls in the masses and are just giving you a single squirt so they can make 20 bowls all at the same time. I was hoping for more spice in what I ordered, but it was very slightly spicy. I'm not sure if they let you serve yourself to more, but I'd definitely want more of the hot sauce. 2nd - I didn't taste any spice in the spicy rice. I'm not sure if, again, due to the fast production that it all just taste like regular rice? but didn't see what the hype was there. 3rd - I genuinely think the white sauce is what brings it all together. The chicken was OK to me. I didn't think it was anything special, and would give it a 3 out of 5. texture was OK, flavor was OK... the lamb definitely stole the show. The lamb was absolutely flavorful and full of delicious spices. This reminded me of what I've had in Dubai. Very rich in flavor and just the perfect amount of spices. Overall, I think if you wait for your food to cool down like 20 minutes, you'll get to taste the flavors more. Everything hot together, for me, just didn't allow me to really absorb all the food. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.

At this point I have to accept that it's probably not for me. So why do I keep coming back? Because at 2 AM after a late night, when everything else is closed and you're starving in Times Square, that platter of chicken and rice over white sauce smells like salvation. They're the only game in town at that hour, and honestly, in the moment, it hits. It's the next morning I regret it. If your stomach handles it better than mine, you'll probably love it. The food is tasty and the portions are huge for the price. I just wish I could enjoy it without paying for it twice.
